J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Happy New Years!! Looks like there was a sale update with over 1800 items. Ordered plaid puffer vest since it ended up being $30 with 40% + 15% coupon.

  3. Whoa, I knew THAT would happen, sigh. Of course I ordered a bunch of "essentials" yesterday.

  4. In case anyone was looking for this, there is a full size run of the "Pardon My French" tee available at Nordstrom.com.

  5. Happy New Year! I shopped yesterday and today, despite my desire to try and consume less this year. I did a lot of shopping last year to replenish my wardrobe and I want to spend this year actually wearing things more than once.

That being said, I did get the cat print Tippi, light pink ruffle sleeve cashmere sweater, grey ribbed cashmere turtleneck, crossback stripe tie tee ($19) and the black/grey asymmetrical ruffle sweatshirt (for $13 I'll give it a shot). Also picked up a few things from Factory and retail for my niece who has a birthday next week.

  6. Scored some great deals for my oldest girl who is quickly moving into the next size (how do kids grow so fast?!?!). 6 things between retail and factory for less than $60.

  7. Picked up 5 things for myself. I was almost ready to hit the button last night with the 50% off but didn't love anything enough to go for it. Glad I waited for the sale section to update this morning, there were more things (and sizes) I wanted today. Most excited about grabbing a featherweight cashmere sweater for $26. Not usually a neon pink person, but noticed lately that my winter wardrobe is very blah - neutrals and blue. Need to perk up!

    1. I loaded my cart yesterday too and just let it sit as there was nothing I really needed. Glad I waited even though the % was a bit lower today. I had a 15% coupon to use so that made the prices great. Picked up the boiled wool coat, plaid puffer, a pair of pj's, ponte pants and Sadie plaid flats. My spending at Crew was zero last month as I returned both items I ordered so I don't feel too guilty.

    2. Me too! That extra 15% helped push the button today too. The prices were so good that I don't mind they're all FS.

  8. Has anyone seen or tried the silk tunic (H9730). This is the only new arrival that has caught my interest, but I’m not sure if I want to gamble on it or not. TIA!

    1. That’s very pretty and simplistic. Kind of everlane-like. I like the olive color. I will check out my store to see if they have it.

    2. Thanks! I really liked the silhouette, but am just so apprehensive as quality has been an issue for me lately with jcrew.

  9. Hi. Happy New Year!

I am seeking feedback on the excursion vest. I have 3 vests from past years. They are 70% down and 30% feathers. During the recent mark downs I bought the bright magenta excursion vest. It seemed thinner (less puffy) and looks slightly different (because it's less puffy). It also seems to fit a bit bigger (but again, maybe because it's less puffy). I thought I was hallucinating but the label says 60% down and 40% feathers. So they've cheaped out! The website product description is very unhelpful because it just says "down filled poly" and they use the same style code (B0109) as in past years, which is a little misleading if you ask me given that they've changed the product. I'm wondering if I should return it.

Anyone out there with older and newer excursion vests who can speak to their personal experiences? Is it less warm? Strangely, I would have thought a less puffy vest would be more flattering, but I don't think that it is. (Or maybe it's my biases coming out.)

    Thank you!

    1. I just ordered the sand color for my daughter and myself and a black one to replace my old black one. I also have a red and bought a black one two seasons ago for my daughter, so I will report back!

    2. I ordered a new one as well in sand and will report back.

  10. Forgot to post this review: northfield mockneck sweater item H3339 from Madewell. I got the black. Ordered XS but decided to size up to an S so it fits more slouchy as shown. I'm assuming there will be some pilling due to the fabric content but I do love the cut and fit.

  11. Hi JCAs,

For J.Crew-ers who purchased the Perfect Winter Parka, could you tell me whether it would keep you warm in single digit temperatures? Thanks in advance!
