Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I was pondering JC's new strategy to release wear now styles. Boden does the same except they have a preview page (bodenpreview.com) of upcoming fall/winter styles available for purchase now and ship later. I think that is the best of both worlds. I don't buy much from the preview site anymore but it's very nice to see what upcoming styles will be available and I can budget accordingly. If JC is instituting this new policy to go for fast fashion, then having a preview site is irrelevant. Boden is definitely not in the fast fashion business. Just my thoughts this morning.

    1. Hi Liz - that's an interesting point. Personally for me, the "wear it now" approach often ends up with me saying "well, I don't really need anything right now". I don't need a single summer item and at this point am looking forward to fall pieces (which, let's be real, I don't need much of either!). Like some other JCA's have mentioned, I don't love to buy much out of season, but I do like to plan for what's coming.

I see both sides of it though - when I know what's coming at JC (like the early access email from earlier in the month), I think decide whether to pull the trigger on stuff from my wishlist or wait for new arrivals. They're betting on the fast fashion approach leading to more customers choosing to buy now AND later. Time will tell how this plays out for them.

    2. I can understand the reasoning behind the switch for them from the retailer perspective. However from the consumer perspective I like to plan out outfits in advance (sometimes even months in advance if it's for a very special occasion). The fact that I'm still perusing pages of eyelet and one shouldered things gets me anxious for buying the fall items I need and has led me to shop elsewhere for those things. As others posters have said in recent posts I wish JC would get back to their roots - classic, quality, timeless pieces that can be worn over and over again. With each new release I feel as though they're getting further from that.

  3. So glad I held out for free shipping, snagged a popback of the tasseled eyelet top in a Tall size this morning. There have been a lot of pretty yellow tops out this summer, but most of them have been either too bare or too flimsy for me. This one strikes has the perfect mix of a crisp summery fabric with just the right amount of coverage.

  4. I'm popping in after work for a big return (most of the items from the great sale of last week did not work out - sadface because the $ was so good), anyone know what the sale discount? I went by yesterday to a store and it was 50%.

  5. The new arrivals are not really calling my name. Not really ready to start fall shopping yet. There are a few popbacks I'm keeping my eye on.

  6. Has anyone tried the Academy Loafers in leather. They are included in today's promo and I'm debating about ordering them. Not sure about the size and quality though. TIA.

    1. Hi maryeb - I bought the brown color. Haven't worn it yet. Still deciding whether to keep or return. I have small heel, so slip-on shoes always slips off my feet, that's why I'm hesitant in keeping these.

Fit-TTS.. i have somewhat wide feet and it didn't feel snug on me.
Quality-good I guess. But I've never owned J.Crew shoes that are import, and I've never worn these out so I can't say how good the shoes will hold up. I owned the Biellas before and quality of those made in Italy vs. the import...does not compare, but if you can get a discount on the academy, I say it's good enough to own. HTH!
They are cute though with the bow! Love loafers

  7. No store visit for me but free shipping got me and ordered the cropped denim jacket in Cavanal wash and the long sleeve chambray shirt dress (the sale one). Stopped in yesterday for a return but I was short on time so I couldn't stop and look at the newer items. Maybe next week.

    1. Anne- I received the cropped denim jacket today. It is more cropped than I anticipated but will be cute over dresses. I feel like I have a denim jacket problem but it is different than the ones I already own. Also I received the lace up dress in stripe as I was not able to snag the solid one. It is cute and will work for the price I paid.

  8. I visited the store to make some returns and the sale section was 50% off. They were offering an additional 20% off your purchase for cardholders including sale. I found a lone tiered striped maxi dress in my size that was $50 after both the discounts. Other that that checked out the new arrivals but nothing caught my eye.

  9. I went to Brookfield Place to make returns, pick an item on hold and check out the new rollout. I couldn't find a sale section - the whole store was new arrivals. I had the sleeveless Saint James tee on hold, and it rang up as 49.99 even though it was on the racks without sale signage. They were about to ring me up as such when I brought up that just yesterday it was 50% off, and just like that... the manager honored that discount. The new rollout: I tried on the bow front cube print dress, which I took in my regular JC dress size and it was perfect. Very cute, god quality silk, only wish it had pockets. It is very autumnal and going on my fall wishlist. Also tried on the bee print pants - a heavy jacquard, well made, adorable print, I took one size up bc they didn't have my size and found that it fit in the waist but roomy in the thigh/butt. I am 5'1 and it fit like a regular length pant. Also going on my fall list, bc the fabric is too thick to buy now and wear. I also tried on a silk maroon popover with a dog print - silk was a little too thin/sheer for me, and my usual JC shirt size was tight across the shoulders. Lastly I tried the so-called backwards shirt, took my usual top size. The wide stand up collar wasn't quite wide enough to be boatneck, and the cotton poplin + stripe made me feel like I was in a straitjacket. It was shoulder buttons on one side, and hi-low hem, which I usually do not like but liked here. I am on the fence about this top: I can't unsee the straitjacket thing but I like the shoulder buttons, hem and cotton (it's not sheer, a bit stiff but not Thomas Mason stiff). I saw a gray sweater with buttons halfway down the front (like a henley) with embroidered parrots on either side of the buttons. Didn't pick it up because I'm not a fan of that style nor the birds.

  10. The embroidered floral top is the only thing I want but of course it's excluded from promo. Is there a 20% off in-store? I may visit to see if I can snag it there

  11. I had two coupons for 20% off that were to expire July 31st. The only thing I was interested in was the new Camo print shirt jacket which today was 25% off. I applied the 25% off but was having trouble applying the 20% off coupon. I called customer service and explained the situation and asked if it wasn't working because the item is a pre-ordered item. The SUPER nice gal said she'd be happy to do the order at her end for me. She added the 25% off code, then asked me for the 20% off code and then said she'd be happy to apply the OTHER 20% off code as well!!! Final price.....$47.04 shipped free! Dang! Original $98.00!!! That's what I call super service! She also told me that if I needed to exchange for another size, the price I paid would be matched. I honestly thought the 20% codes would be excluded for some reason. My only regret is that I didn't have an entire basket FULL of things I wanted...hee!

  13. Oh no! Another large update of the sale section this morning. (Why, why do I check every morning.) There were 1800 + items this morning in the women's section. (And I think people in the States see every more than I do...) There are some good popbacks. Final sale continues. I am being tested and am failing miserably. The only solace is that I managed to reduce my cart from 18 items to 6 items - only 2 of which were for me.

    1. They were over 1900 items when I got up this morning. I am just sorry that I didn't get up a little bit earlier to catch a few coveted popbacks in my size.

    4. Website sales update time seems to be all over the place lately. Used to be right around 6am ET, lately I saw 7am, 12am, and this morning was around 6:15am. They're making it harder to predict waking up time (or going to bed time since I'm in Hawaii :)

    5. I agree . even the day is all over the place. I thought Tuesdays were the day of added sale items in the past. they make it alot of work. i have given up on stalking items. checking the sale page every morning is addicting... takes quite a bit of my time...I am trying to break my crewlade habits.
      Its hard.

    6. The cropped cardigan sweater (the one with the large buttons) in barley popped back in my size this morning so I was able to order it. Now hoping it ships....
Thinking this might be a good substitute for a blazer.
This is the cardigan where there was a full size run one day and the next day almost all sizes were sold out. I had wishlisted it and it still showed up as sold out in my wishlist but when I went to the sweater section it was available...
Off topic: traveling and shopping online don't go together very well. Sometimes the wifi in your Airbnb is only so so, in the countryside there is no coverage #firstworldproblems ;-))

    7. I bought the orange cropped cardigan and thought it was so great. One day I was going to wear it over a striped tee and much to my dismay it was so sheer the stripes showed through. Back it went.

    8. @aeio2 I am pretty sure the 12 am EST update, is the regular store inventory update. Sometimes you get those types of update sporadically during the day, but the largest store inventory update seems to be at that time. The online inventory update is still later in the morning from what I have observed.

  14. No store visit this weekend but I made my first purchase in over 6 months - a super 120s suit in violet. Of course, I had to but two different sizes for each pant, suit, and jacket, and I fear I'll be returning everything and stalking marked down items.

    1. just what i did! thinking either the jacket will work with strange gray/purple-ish tweed pants from end of last winter, or pants will work with "french blue" featherweight cashmeres for a soft monochrome outfit. i think the pants & jacket together might make me look like the Easter Bunny's business manager.

    2. I bought the same suit in black ( recently needed a suit and realized the one I bought in 2008 is a little worn out and the pants are all wrong!). Anyway - I was happy with what arrived. I took the smaller of my two blazer sizes - a10, my schoolboy size, and the larger of my two trouser sizes, an 8. Fabric is nice, it's lightweight which works for my needs, and the pants are lined. I'm a flats girl so I'll need to hem them a bit but good fit overall. Am pleased. Got with 25% off and am glad to have this staple in my closet.

    3. My last j.Crew suits were bought around 2010 - back then they were called the Two-button jacket and the Aubrey jacket, the "city fit" pant, a pencil skirt, and an a-line skirt. Back then, the jackets were shorter than what's being offered today and the pants fit terribly - weird rise and too tight in the hips but sizing up made be look shorter and wider. The pencil skirts hit just above the knee, which is not the most flattering length for me.

The Super 120s fabric has stood the test of time though - the suits from around 2010 look brand new still and I wear them all the time (I wore the navy one to all four interviews it took to get me my current job!) I recently added the director pencil skirt to both suits - the longer length skirt somehow looks more modern and retro at the same time. It all just looks better.

I haven't bought a J.Crew suit in year,s despite the awesome fabrics, because of the cuts - my butt and thighs, I guess, are too big for J. Crew pants and I'm too narrow and short on top for the campbell or regent jackets. The schoolboy was a bit boxy on me. I'm glad to hear you had to size down in the jacket - maybe there's hope for me.

I agree wellfred - can't wear the violet together but the separates look lovely - I have a pair of grey blue windowpane check pants from the Banana that will work well with the jacket and I love the idea of a french blue or soft blue top with the violet. I think green might look nice too! This morning, after I placed my humungous suiting order, a pale pink ruffle neck silk top popped back in my size - at $35, I had to get it so I ordered three backordered swimsuits to get free shipping (oh the games). I've saved a lot of money this year because J.Crew has been so wretched - but I'm optimistic about this order.

    4. I should mention - I sized up in pants - took a size I've never taken before! Maybe this will do the trick!

    5. @flowerpower Congrats on the new job & hope your suiting selections work out!

    6. @flowerpower - I second the congratulations on your new job! And look forward to hearing how the suit works out!

@wellfedfred - I loved your comment about the Easter bunny's manager. You have a superlative way with words :)

    7. LOL - I got my "new" job 2 years ago - thanks for the congrats! I'd been at my previous job for 12 years so this one still feels "new." the suits still look brand new. The super 120s fabric is really great - at least it was around 2010.

      Wellfedfred is always highly entertaining.

  15. Off topic, but I just received a jcrew box that was clearly opened by someone prior to arriving at my door. The paper tape in the front was undone (the sides remained taped) and the box had a crease from where the top was pried open to see the contents. Nothing was missing, but it sure creeps me out!
