    1. LOL... that's what I was thinking this morning as stuff was flying off the site. Nothing for me, though... tempted by a bathing suit but really, I have 8. I do not need another!

  2. I really thought that I was done with this sale, but there were several popbacks in my size this morning that I could not resist -- stuff that I thought was long gone! I snagged the ultra eyelet pencil skirt in chili, the pop art polka dot pencil skirt, the superfine cotton pencil skirt in beechwood, and the featherweight cotton cardigan in the blue/pink colorblock.

  3. Anyone ever get banned from online shopping owing to too many returns? I just returned about 65% of my last sale haul (not final sale) bc of sizing or didn't like and today when I tried to select payment, website said "sorry but unable to process your payment." same cc as always and tried several with same result. My order finally went thru as a guest checkout with different email but same cc. Anyone know what's up with that?

    1. I was concerned I would be 'flagged' for too many buys/returns so I asked about it and was told it wasn't a problem (but I do buy from them alot so I'm not only returning all the time).

  4. It's nice to see them offer an extra 40% off again (which the Promo-priced items also receive, but aren't final sale). The updated list of promo-priced items for the women are here and for the men here. :)

  6. Does anyone know if you can add stuff to an order? I bought all my stuff last night but found a tie I'd definitely like to add at the price but don't want to get charged $8.95 for shipping!

    ReplyDelete

    1. nmpat: You cannot add items to an order that has already been placed. However, sometimes J.Crew CS will place a new order for an additional item and waive the shipping if your previous order was placed recently.

      Delete
    2. nmpat - I got free shipping on my order (total: ~$78, no swimwear) and also on the order I placed during a 30% off code (same situation - <$175, no swimwear) about a month ago. Did you check if the shipping was free on your order before going through with checkout? (Or maybe it's happening only to me??)

      Delete
  7. nmpat, In my experience, they cannot add to an order once it is placed. However, if you call and let them know the situation, they will waive the shipping on the tie. This has been done for me before. If the first person you get says no, call again. It's all in the luck of the draw--in other words, who picks up the phone. Hope this helps.

  12. The only way I'm biting on final sale is if it's 100% off. It doesn't matter if I lose 70% of my money or 60%, that's the risk I'm running buying things I haven't tried. I'm sticking to my personal rule, no final sale.

    1. Desert Flower, I'm totally with you. I've gotten caught up in the frenzy too many times, bought languishing sale items on impulse and the majority of the time have regretted it. At this point most of these items are returns in questionable condition.

I'm going to be STRONG and wait for the new arrivals!!!

      Delete
    2. Desert Flower, me three! Final sale is just too risky. There isn't anything I had on my wishlist anyway so there is no sense trying to rationalize based on the perception of a great deal.

      Delete
    3. I agree Desert Flower!

So it says a lot about how much I've been trying on or already have such that I was able to do major damage with this sale. I feel I was safe. The only thing that remains is whether or not the items will arrive in good condition. I've had the full spectrum on condition with Final Sale. I'll report back.

      ruffles,

Must Stay Strong....All of the items I picked up can transition into Fall, but I know that once the new Fall Arrivals are here, I'll be sighing wistfully.

    2. straycat - I've had the items-not-showing-up-in-cart thing happen before too. Was it popbacks you were trying to add? I think that when items won't add to your cart, it means it was an item in limited quantities that just ran out. Though I can remember one time (in the wee morning hours waiting for popbacks) when I repeatedly tried adding a rare popback that wouldn't add to my cart, and then maybe 15 minutes later it worked, and I got the single item of that style that popped back. So maybe it can mean the item is available??

  17. It's great to see 40% off! I did notice however that an item I ordered during last week's promotion is now $30 more expensive so it would be the same price if I re-ordered now. Which leaves me satisfied for ordering it last week but feeling like some games are being played.

    1. Yeah, the factory site is ridiculous. The new black and white leopard cardigan was something like $26.50 or $29.50 last night. Now it is near full price. So lame.

      Delete
  18. Well it's about time. Of course some stuff I just ordered last week is now way cheaper but only one item was still in stock, and I can return the one I bought last week since it was not FS.

I got a bajillion things (unfortunately) -- but I needed to, since I have to sell pretty much every pair of shorts I own; they don't fit me anymore. So I was happy to pick up a few pair at a good price and hopefully I will stop my yo-yo dieting now and not need to buy a whole shorts wardrobe again in a different size next year.

The Amie maxidress in navy/red stripe fell out of my cart when I was checking out. :( If anyone gets it in a Small and they can't use it, please LMK. I have NWT Medium I can trade or will buy at sale price. Thx! [ elaine dot hamill at gmail dot com]

    3. I am between sizes in J. Crew tops too. I have the anchor top in size 6 and it fits right. It looks roomy but for some reason, it is sometimes a challenge to take off with the this top. There is no way I can fit into this in a 4.

  23. I had a lot of trouble ordering last night, the site simply closed down every time I clicked Place Order. Finally called CS, who explained that is the site's way of telling you there are sold-out items in your order, and the site hasn't fully caught up with inventory yet. But, she continued, if you try in the morning, you will see that they are in fact sold out. I feel sorry for people who have to work in the middle of the night - and of course for those who have to shop in the middle of the night - so I just thanked her. Courtesy is its own reward, I guess, because this morning I found a confirmation in my inbox. I hope the order only went through once, I was clicking like a madwoman.

  34. Hi all,

Just called and the extra 50% off sale items is stilling going on at the Yorkdale, Toronto store.

A question for the Greater T.O. Area JCA's - my sister and I are considering making a pilgrimage to Yorkdale this sunday, but for us this would be almost a two hour drive. We've never been there - do you think it would be worth it or is the store going to be pretty picked over by then? But then, maybe some Fall merch will have arrived?

    Thanks in advance!!

    1. Jessy, I sized down in the dizzy anchor. I am usually a 6, too, but the 4 was the best fit. It was borderline too tight in the chest but I am a 34D so if you are smaller busted than the 4 should work for you. It's suuuuch a cute dress on. Very flattering.

    5. Thanks guys! I ran to the store at lunch to try on, just to be sure. I must have eaten too many hot dogs this weekend, the 6 was perfect (and i am big busted as well)! It is ADORABLE and they honored the online sale price, so can't beat it.

    6. I bit on the dizzy anchors dress today...I ended up with a 2, my store was out of 0s which might have been a slightly better fit up top, but a 00 was too tight. $61.48 after the 40% off and my 15% educator discount, no way I was passing that up!

  39. So, like last time, I noticed that I got free shipping with the code! Other people are getting this too, right, not just me? It's weird that they aren't advertising the free shipping part anymore. I'm quite happy that this promotion came up - I guess it *is* the last few days before the biggest day of the year (Fall new arrivals!) in J. Crewland. I got the white Drapey Elbow-Sleeve Tee, which apparently is full price in-stores, the Cafe Capri in Casablanca Blue, which I've been waiting for forever to go on sale and was nervous that it wouldn't make it, and will be getting the Vintage Cotton Tee in Ikat when I decide which color I want.

Thanks to the surprise free shipping in this code, I feel there's no risk in making a purchase now, and potential another one (or a few) if some goodies pop back in the early-morning sale updates. Woohoo!

      Size 8 - chest = 38.5", waist = 35.75, sweep = 39.75"

It looks really cute, but I decided not to do it. The Odette has a tuxedo style placket. The thought of needing to iron the blouse so it looks nice but not too wrinkly doesn't appeal. I've been tying other blouses like that just fine.

  53. I was reorganizing my closet last night and was embarassed to count the ridiculous amount of pencil skirts I have recently purchased... the number jumps into my head every time I remotely think about browsing the site. I'm on board with the MUSTSTOP.

    1. I know exactly what you mean. I stopped buying pencil skirts too. For now, I stopped getting Factory ones, after I measured my latest Factory acquisition and noticed it was shorter by an inch than the regular pencil skirt.

  54. I'm restraining as well HOWEVER I just found a pair of Cecrlia High HeelBuckle sandals in store for $60 dith additional 40% off. Crazy! Oops supposed to say Cecelia. I also got darker khaki cafe capris and they ordered the Viv flats in leopard for $69 before sale taken off. So I'm kind of transitioning into fall ;)

  55. All I did was swing by a B&M and get $31.00 back on a tee that I just got two weeks ago. It's now on sale and additional 40% off. The SA's a very anxious for fall rollout. My store was picked clean. Also I had returned my Gap polka dot chambray shirt cause it was too tight in the shoulders/arms and at the time there wasn't a size M....but this morning I stopped in and YAH! One size M...I grabbed it.

  56. Hi Cate,

Gigi's already on it and linked to my review but the metallic swing sweater is a really nice thick knit. However the sleeves are TIGHT and the body a bit loose. I am pretty busty and I didn't like the shape it gave me but I think it would hang nicely on someone who was less endowed. HTH.

  57. I bit, I reordered and got a few new colors of shirts to add to it. Also got the Schoolboy blazer in blue-not final sale thankfully- to try out. I'm loving the color. Like Jody, before I reordered I contacted CS to see if I could get the promo applied to the previous orders but no-go. So back most of my previous orders goes-I wish they would lighten up on their policy about that-especially when the same item/sizes are still in stock.

  58. Hexicon (sorry, reply is not working) - Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is dangerous I know!! :) I seriously must now have enough moisturizer to last me, well till next years sale :) I hope. At least I was able to resist the quite pushy 'skin care specialist' who persisted in trying to sell me yet more creams after I had already bought 3 giant containers of my favorite Kiehls and Philosophy products...(awkward). Re the 40%, I have looked but don't really want anything....

  63. Flower Power-Sorry the reply won't work for me, but I am close to biting on the boatneck vintage cotton tees and was wondering about fit. I've bought tanks in vintage cotton and like them much better than the perfect fit because they are more forgiving and much less clingy around my abdomen (my problem area). Is this the case with the boatneck in vintage cotton? Did you find them to be tts? Thanks so much...I just HATE to purchase final sale and am very far away from a B&M.

  64. Visited 1 of my B&Ms at lunch (Park Meadows, Colorado) sale section huge. Tried on a few things but heeded a couple of JCAs comments and thought about items to transition into fall. Got a pair of Minnies in purple they were marked $59.99 but rang up as $39.99 with 40% off. They had a rack of them in purple and british khaki that color was marked $29.99. If anyone is looking for the Pencil Skirt in Golden Burgundy they had about 6 or so, did not check sizes.

    1. JRSConifer, I was really considering these, but I wasn't sure how they run, and I don't live anywhere near a B&M. I am a 0 in the cafe capris and double-serge pencils, but I am a 2 in Bennett chinos and shorts. I know the Minnies are supposed to be fitted, and I have the wool versions in a 0. Do these purple ones seem to run really tight or a little large? Do they stretch out quite a bit? Thanks very much for any sizing advice you might have! :)

      Delete
    2. JRSconifer-do you know how much is the Pencil Skirt in Golden Burgundy in store?
      TIA

      Delete
    3. Leah, I am usually a solid 4 either petite or regular. I chose a 2 since they seem to fit better and yes they do stretch. For $23.99 they seemed like a good deal and I matched them with some perfect shirts from last year and a factory one and they seemed to work. I am not a true JCA, I can't do a contrasting color, it really needs to be actual :)

    2. Hi Hwin - That is such a great deal. Wow! I wish i had a good reason to buy it. When it went on sale, I bought it with the 30% and paid, $100+ with tax..it looked nice when I tried it at the store, but when I took it home, it was a different story. While I love the design, i think J.Crew chose the wrong fabric. I thought I can get away with wearing it in SF's cold summers, but I can't find a good reason to keep it. The dress is a bulky and heavy kind of linen. I'm 4"11, so the dress looked big on me, even though I tried on the right size. And I would have to slightly alter it, because I'm short..and the pits area was a tad roomy. Maybe someone who is taller (5"4 and above) who wears J.Crew dresses size 4 and under can get away with it, but I couldn't. General rule-you wear the dress, not the dress wears you..I hope my review helped. Too bad..such an exquisite design. Something Audrey Hepburn would totally wear on Breakfast at Tiffany's. :)

    3. Totally agree! I'm at 5'5" and both the 0 and 2 looked off. I think if someone was a few inches taller or perhaps just curvier, it would look great. (There's a lovely review on Sundays and Scarves, and it looks great on her!) It could be tailored to fit better on me, but with the peplum, side zipper, and cutout back, the alterations would be too $$$. I don't think it was a coincidence that the store mainly had sizes 0 and 2 left.

At a store out of town yesterday I was able to find the elusive enamel ram bangle. Just sitting in the glass case with her overpriced friends. At my own store, I tried on one and had to be helped out of it by the salesperson when the safety clasp got stuck. I was afraid to buy that one and had been hunting one ever since. ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't have experience with swimsuits, but I do the same thing when there's a print I like! I can always fit into a size 14 top without any issues being a size 2 with a 34B bust. The only issues I could foresee are these: it may be too boxy and not long enough in the torso, depending on your torso. Also, I would question if the leg openings would be comfortable. Customer service can give you the specifics on measurements.

  100. Does anyone have a review or irl pic of the provence stripe tunic? Does it fit TTS or large?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I bought the Provence Stripe Tunic and I'll post a pic of it on my blog since you're interested. I got the XXS and would say it fits TTS, but it's long enough to cover your bottom entirely, which makes it a little awkward to wear with pants or shorts, as I was planning to. It also didn't shrink when I put in the dryer, as I was trying to get rid of some of the length. So it will work well if you intend it as a beach cover-up, but if you want to wear it over a bottom, it may need to be rolled up or shortened.
