J.Crew Collection Store: A very private sale...

A big "thanks!" to Cass, who let us know about J.Crew's most recent email, which delivers some very exciting news to J.Crew Collection shoppers in NYC.

The Madison Avenue boutique will be hosting a closed-door event where customers will enjoy 50% off their "top floor Collection designs, including to die for dresses, jewelry and limited edition pieces you won't find anywhere else".

This event will be held on Wednesday, January 19th from 4-8PM. You do need to RSVP as space is limited (212-209-2737).

"Thanks!" also to Jacquie who let us know the following {related} tidbit: "Just wanted to give a heads up that a few stores will be closing for renovation and (get this) the Madison Ave store has closed and sent ALL of their leftovers to the Annapolis, MD location. So spread the word, if fellow JCAs are looking for collection or hard to find items, they may want to call." Quick update: "looks like I made a mistake, this happens when I think of NYC streets. It's the 5th ave store that's closed for renovations. Also, sometime in February Pentagon City location will also be closed for a week for renovations." Interesting!

J.Crew Email: Introducing the New Cafe Capri...

"Thanks!" to many of you who shared the following email J.Crew sent this morning.

The email features the New Café Capri (Item 34629; $79.50), described as

Our cream-of-the-crop café capri, updated in fresh-for-the-season hues with chic front pockets (it's an instant classic). Crafted in crisp, clean cotton with a hint of stretch, this is that one perfect-fitting piece to anchor your wardrobe.

I love that the pants come with pockets. Although, it's not like you would put anything in them besides your hands on occasion (to avoid any bulk with such form fitting pants). I also like the simplicity of the outfit's style. Simple, classic, and easy to wear.

No Takers For J.Crew {except TPG & Leonard Green}

J.Crew Group Inc received no rival takeover bids during its "go shop" period and will remain with its original $2.86 billion buyout offer from TPG and Leonard Green, a source familiar with the situation said on Sunday.

Sears Holdings Corp, Urban Outfitters Inc and at least two other private equity firms had been looking at the financial books of J.Crew during the "go shop" period that allowed J.Crew to solicit other suitors, sources previously told Reuters.

Well this is quite the news! I am happy to hear that both Sears and Urban Outfitters have no plans to acquire J.Crew. (I just didn't see it working out, not well at least.) As someone mentioned in another post, maybe Sears & UO were using the old "possible-bid-excuse" to check out J.Crew's financial figures. Sneaky. ;)

With just TPG & Leondard Green's offer on the table, J.Crew's CEO Mickey Drexler is breathing a bit easier now. (Of course, there are those pesky stockholder lawsuits to still worry about.)

J.Crew increased the additional percent off with promo code MUSTHAVE. {wahoo!} Now the code is offering to take 40% off all final sale items (no min) and free shipping (on $100+). This offer expires this Sunday, January 16, 2011.

It's so great to see the additional percent online match what brick & mortar (B&M) stores are offering. :)

J.Crew Regional Warehouse Sale in Chapel Hill {going strong!}

As mentioned in the January 4th "J.Crew Regional Warehouse Sale {in Chapel Hill!}" post, there is a Warehouse Sale going on now at Chapel Hill.

A big "thanks!" to Katherine (in this post) who shared several images (shown in this post) of the location & merchandise with us. (Just click on any image to view larger.)

Customers can expect to see J.Crew items from "current and past season sample-quality clothing, shoes, and accessories for women, men, and kids".

Katherine also offers some good advice: "If you're still planning to visit, I would recommend wearing leggings and a T shirt or tank top to make try-ons easy. There is no dressing room, and only one mirror, so if you want to try something on, you do it in the aisle."

The warehouse sale is currently running until January 23rd. As shown in the image below, hours are 10AM -8PM. Plenty of time to attend after work. ;) Unfortunately, J.Crew's credit card is not accepted. However, they will accept all other major credit cards, cash, checks, and even J.Crew gift cards.
