Back To School Retail Blues
Families are expected to cut back on purchases; J.Crew, Dell, Del Monte will report next week.

As Mad about Madras pointed out in her comment, Evelyn Rusli and Jeanine Poggi (Forbes.com Fashion Reporter) are standing in front of a J.Crew. All I could help think was "Move out of the way Evelyn and Jeanine, you are standing right in front of the clothes!" and "I want to shop at that J.Crew right now!" :)

What do you think of the video? Do you think parents are spending less money at retailers this year? Do you think that J.Crew's earnings (which took a hit because of the glitch with their online retailing) will bounce back? Would you buy J.Crew stock now?

J.Crew Website Is Updated With New Arrivals

Finally! :) J.Crew updated its website: from the main page (offering a video from its Prague photo shoot), to the "Browse a catalog" section (showing the latest catalog), to new arrivals (in the men's, women's, and crewcuts' sections), to the "As Seen In" section (showing magazines from August, July and June), and to the "Final Sale" section.

I have to say it is great to see something different on almost all the pages. I am also surprised that J.Crew decided to update the site on a Sunday. Yet, I am thrilled that they did! :)

What are your thoughts on the new images of Prague? Do you like the new video? What are your thoughts on the new arrivals? Have you bought any new items already?

JCrew Catalog: Did You Get A Copy?

I got the mail today and couldn't believe my eyes... there was the September J.Crew catalog in the pile of bills and unwanted junk mail. For joy! (I thought for sure I would not get one.) :)

I have to say, the catalog is beautiful. Is it comparable to the Paris catalog- no way (nothing will ever be in the same league as that catalog!) Is it better than the August catalog- you better believe it! ;) The catalog is also quite lengthy, containing 125 pages of luscious clothes.

There are lots of winter coats, sweater jackets, and berry trim dresses to be dreaming about tonight! What's interesting is an apology and an offer to take 15% off regular priced merchandise with code FALL included in the catalog. (The image of "the apology" is in the slide show.) I actually appreciate the inclusion of the apology (which comes across to me as sincere):

UPDATE: As you can see, I took photos of the entire catalog. I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos. On a bright note, the entire catalog is there- including women's, crewcuts, and mens items. :)

P.S. My laptop crashed yesterday and there is a good chance I lost all my data. I am currently borrowing my husbands desktop to use in the meantime. Therefore, I do apologize for any lateness in response or posting.

J.Crew Mens Collection: The Mackintosh Coat

I was surprised to see that in the men's section, there was a Mackintosh coat for sale. Mackintosh (click here for their website) is known for its high-quality rain wear (and the price tag certainly reflects that quality!)

I would love to see this jacket in person. However, I doubt my local J.Crew's would carry this expensive piece (let alone in multiple sizes). This jacket is available at the Tribeca Mens Shop, though. :)

I like to quickly add that I would love J.Crew to offer women's rain wear from Mackintosh too! ;) I think their coats for women are just divine. (Although, I doubt I could afford the women's coats. For now, an umbrella will have to do. And I do like my umbrella, as it is from J.Crew. ;) )

What do you think of J.Crew's partnership with Mackintosh? Would you consider purchasing a Mackintosh water-resistant coat? Do you think it is worth the retail price?

J.Crew's Website Is Down & Back Up Again

As Anonymous at 4:56PM (in the "Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?" post) pointed out, the website is down again. :(

I noticed it went down but saw the site back up, but I guess that was temporary because it went back down and is still down (as of 5:38PM). To keep things positive, maybe they are updating the site with new arrivals and putting up the latest catalog to view. :)

Update (as of 5:46PM): For some reason the J.Crew website seems to work perfectly for me in an Internet Explorer browser. However, if I try opening the JCrew.com site in Firefox, I still get that "be back soon..." memo. Maybe that will be the case for some of you as well.

Update (as of 6PM): Site seems to be back up and running for me (in both IE & Firefox browsers).

What do you think about the website still having some "issues"? When do you predict the website will be close to trouble free?

"Thanks!" to J.Crew Guy In Canada who shared with us some new info that he received by his personal shopper: that J.Crew's new September styles should be up some time this morning (Aug 22nd) on their website.

This is fantastic news! First, brick & mortar stores are getting new styles on the sales floor (refer to "Quick Note From A J.Crew Personal Shopper" post) and now the website. I am very excited to check out the website this morning to see if there are new items. :)
