Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Everlane shoppers. During quarantine when they closed Happy Returns they were waiving return shipping fees and offering Instant store credit on returns, to be returned if it was not used by the time they processed the return. However, I sent two shirts back and didn’t get an instant credit. Took several emails to figure out they only do so once (not if you buy something with a credit? I’m a little confused)...which I hadn’t read. So now I have to wait for them to receive and process my return before I get credit...I sent the item back Oct 9 and fedex shows it won’t be delivered until 10/26 and then it can be weeks before the credit is issued.
So we are talking a month.
Next time I will go back to using happy returns and getting my credit back Immediately (unless that’s changed too!)
Very frustrating because I gave an item a shot after sitting on a credit for months and now I have to wait to buy a sweater I want without having another credit sitting there once the return finally gets processed.

    1. Banana Republic also takes 30 days to process a return by mail. The UPS tracking shows the package was received 4days after it was shipped, but the rep I spoke to says I should call back after 30 days to check.

    2. That’s crazy. I guess I’m used to store returns. I won’t make that mistake again.

  2. The reviews and comments on social media towards Everlane have been very negative. I haven’t shopped with them for months due to this. There have been quite a few items I have liked but held off due to this. I often wonder how much is true and how much is negative campaign against them.

    1. I haven’t found it nearly as bad as what I’ve read. All of my experiences have actually been positive until this recent exchange.
