Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No visit for me and as noted on another thread, it appears that some sale prices have gone UP, so I'm wondering if there is a sale promo in the future (but boo for the pricing games) For example, the tie peplum fatigue jacket is now $49.99 and was $34.99 earlier this week. Same with the foulard easy pants, I picked them up for $27.99 and they are now $30.99. Not cool.

It would appear there was just a big sale update, I went in to look at the price of that jacket again and it jumped from 600ish items to 1100ish. Off to look because I just can't help myself.

    1. Definitely some pricing games at play here. They added to the sales section and there's some great popbacks if you're a lucky size (Daphne topcoat size 12!). I looked at 7 a.m. and there were 640 items, and now there's almost double! I have to make a massive return from three recent orders so I'll have to drop by this weekend. And I just placed another order for different sizes of the items I'm returning this weekend. And I picked up the Foundry pants popback and cropped stretch chino popback. Oye I wish I could break this cycle but I also can't help myself!

    2. Yes. Cycle is a good way of describing it. I too am afflicted. It got a bit out of control for me in January because of the deep discounts. I did not manage a no shop February or March but did manage to reduce quite a lot (at least for me) in February and March. The strange pricing of sales items does irk me a bit, but even without an additional percent off the prices are pretty good and I am thrilled that final sale has disappeared for now. (Although the final sale did have the benefit of making me pass on items I was not 100% sure on)

This morning's purchases included cropped boiled wool jacket at $50.99 Cdn. I'm also trying the Jackie with liberty ruffle at $48.99 Cdn. I usually buy a small in the Jackie's but that size was sold up so I sized up to a medium. Not sure whether I want to hope that the medium fits or that it doesn't fit so I can return it as my closet is on the verge of exploding :-)

    3. TM, not to enable but the liberty cardigan ran small so you will probably be fine with a medium...

    4. TM - was going to say the same as Anne! That Jackie is definitely running small. I think M is good!

    5. I tried on the jackie cardigan. Only buy if you plan to wear it closed. Open looked odd and unflattering because of the ruffle sticking out

  2. Surprised to see some popbacks on a few of my favorites from last year: gingham tippi and ruffle chambray blazer. It's been several months since I saw either of those making the rounds, I wonder where these were hiding out?

    1. That is always my question when I see something from 2016 and earlier pop back - where has it been hiding?? I desperately want that gingham tippi but not my size!

    2. I always wonder about this. Is their warehouse that large and unorganized that things go undiscovered? Or do stores close and pack up their stuff only to have a lingering box from x year of old sale stuff? Like those OLD academy pants from a few weeks ago...where they heck were they hanging out? I often wonder when I see popbacks. I know this stuff always went to the clearance store but it amazes me that they still cycle items from several years ago in the sale section.

    3. My totally uninformed theory is that they wait until they have enough of something to list it again--so they're not just posting a single popback in one size. But who knows!

    4. @Anne - I wonder about the same thing. Where are they finding this stuff?

A few years ago one of the SAs in a department store across the street from my old office handed me a big stack of Wacoal bras when I walked in. They were my favorite style in my size marked down to some obscenely low price, like $2. She told me she found them behind a shelf unit when she was cleaning the storage area and had saved them for me since she knew I'd want them. They'd obviously been hiding there for a while and had missed numerous markdowns. I wonder how often that happens?

  3. Very OT, but I need some advice from US-based JCAs. If I order something worth about $200 from the UK and have it shipped to the US, will it go through a brokerage process of some kind to assess duties and taxes (and of course a brokerage fee), or will it just be delivered with no extra costs? I’m asking as the Canadian process is what I’ve described above and can wind up costing a fortune. I’m wondering if shipping to the US could save me some major $$.

    1. I ordered a pair of earrings from a UK boutique, and it did not go through a customs process - no COD.

  4. I generally don’t have any problems with UK orders.

  5. I actually ordered a few things when the sale updated and hope there's a promo on sale over the weekend. Unfortunately, and this is the second time at least this has happened, there are more clicks needed to actually place the order and it didn't go through so I lost a few items. Oh well.

  6. promo says until the 1st of April.. so Sunday night.
could have ordered a cocoon coat ... two colours were available in my size. but I resisted as I already have one..and its spring. Every time I order for the next year I end up never needing the item

  7. I ordered some winter items on deep discount that popped back in my size: tall boiled wool wrap coat in olive and wide leg gray wool pants. Also ordered kimono cardigan in white; took a closer look and realized it was a sweater type material and thought it could be nice for spring and early summer. For $29, I hope it works because it could be a workhorse. Also ordered boiled wool wrap jacket in navy; will be a nice addition for my Chicago trip next week and fall/winter. Ordered swimmer tee because I hope it will pair with my swimmers cardigan from last year. Exchanging tie waist stripe dress for one size larger since it does run small. Picking up long open cardigan sweater in stripe (fingers crossed cotton/merino fabric is nice) and LA tee from Nordstrom.

  8. The gingham car coat popback arrived at my house. Love! Maybe a tad big in the smaller of my two sizes, but so fun! No other shopping for me this weekend after this and some other 40% items that came throughout the week. Boxed up returns and shipped back yesterday.

  9. Looks like another sale update (1000+) with some new markdowns. 29.99 for lucky size 12 bow seam pencil skirt! I placed another order this morning for the scalloped shorts, Edie pants, Sadie popback and a swimsuit I don’t really need but it was only $20. Also qualified for free shipping even though I didn’t reach the minimum (I opted for store pickup anyway). I don’t mind no addl % off if the prices are good and not final sale - would prefer this but not pleased with the daily pricing games.

    1. I had purchased a lucky size 4 in bow seam skirt and thought it was a good price at 49.99 -super happy when I got a $20 credit back. Lovely skirt - my husband was very impressed! I also ordered the Parke topcoat in a size 6 that is the same color wool. Crossing my fingers that I get a credit back on that before the week is out. But I think it is a nice coat at a great price regardless.

  10. Some great pop backs - much more interesting to me than most of the new stuff. I don’t really need a ton of warm-weather clothes here in the Midwest, and in the past I have tended to overbuy. I hope all of our orders ship!

  11. Have other JCAs noticed things disappearing from their carts? At 4 AM this morning, I put a couple of items in my cart to think about. When I clicked on the quantity on the check out screen, it seemed to indicate lots of inventory since I could bump the number up to 9, and I was not warned that there were "only a few left" as I also am. I decided to think about it. I was a little bummed about the fact that the disappeared item was the Merino wool sweater-blazer in petite at $49.99 Cdn. They appeared to have lots of Petites Smalls and Mediums at 4 AM. I guess I should have bought at that time At 7 AM there was no grayed out item on my checkout screen that I typically see when things sell out from under me. Does that mean that J Crew decided to pull the item? I find it hard to believe that there are that many people my size shopping between 4 AM and 7 AM, but if I'm doing it, maybe others are too :-) Will there be no more grayed out items on checkout?

    1. TM, it also happened to me w the same item (sweater blazer). As JCAs discussed upthread, the inventory accuracy with these large sale updates and extreme popbacks must be dicey. J Crew has website and inventory issues on a normal day!

    2. I suspect they sometimes pull items and save them for another day to create the illusion of a shortage. I've noticed some items seem to popback briefly almost every morning, with the inventory count gradually going down. Or maybe I'm just paranoid.

    3. That could be me at 5am, but do not worry Toronto, I'm 5'7" with long arms.

  12. Placed an online order 15 mins before receiving the email about the free striped tote. Emailed customer service and they refused to add it to existing order even though the date/time qualifies. Ugh

    1. free tote? email for card owners or any of us?

    2. Not sure.. The email didn’t mention anything about cardholders but I am one. It had a unique one-time code for a free simple navy/blue tote (while supplies last) for any online purchase made during March 31-April 30.

  13. I guess I lost my sale goggles. I checked out the sale section and popbacks the past two mornings but I didn't see a single thing I wanted. I was thinking that I wouldn't take most of what's left even if it was free. Sad but true. #NSA starts tomorrow.

    1. I agree. I looked yesterday and anything I was remotely interested in showed as sold out when I clicked on it. I gave up fairly quickly. Purchased only the Elephant perfect shirt in March along with a few factory finds. Can’t see April being much better.

  14. Sale numbers have gone up and down all weekend, I've placed a few orders and wanted to see if there was anything else I wanted to get the tote.
Knot back tank popped back so I ordered two colors, collared tippi disappeared from my cart, when I put my code for the tote in it adds an extra tote but if I delete the one I'm paying $25 for they both get deleted. So now I'm paying $25 for a tote and getting another one (will have to rectify with CS). I don't even care about the tote but I know my daughter will like/use if. 😂
Then I couldn't even check out because it said I didn't have enough $ on my payment method which is my jcrew card.
    Sigh...

  15. I've been checking the site (mostly the sale section since the 1 item I really want is a promo exclusion) and watching the prices. Good $$ on some coats but nothing I need since I just counted the ones in my closet!! I did happen to grab a popback denim jacket and checked out immediately so no one could grab it out of my cart. Other than that, not much else I need although I see my wrap dress got marked down and I have been considering using my rewards. I still haven't seen an email about a bag...or maybe I deleted it without checking!

  17. This is more appropriate for the "style me" thread, but here goes anyway: how do you wear the Supersoft Supima V-neck T-shirt (G9046)? I'm tallish (5'7"), long waisted and slightly busty and the neck is obscenely low on me. Not just cleavage visible, but the neck opens almost to the bottom band of my bra. If I move wrong, an entire boob pops out. Not cool. If it goes this low on me, I can't imagine how a shorter person could possibly wear this tee. Yet it's popular, so people must be making it work. I need to know the trick.

  18. Did anyone visit a store and get something for "national stripe day"?

  19. Unless you want to purchase items that you think ate new but have been worn before, I suggest you stay away from K. Crew.

They take back anything that customers send to them as returns, repackage them as "new" and customers have no idea that this is happening. Some items are simply disgusting, but get cleared to repackage instead of being destroyed.

There are many things that happen on the distrubution side of J. Crew that are horrendous and are immediate red flags.

Stay away but if you truly want to stick with them, then do what you need to do...
