Uh... really J.Crew? This is one of the best prints you could find for a $135 (now $90) dress?

Forgive me if you own this dress, but it looks awful. First, I do not think it is very flattering- both in terms of style and print. Even the model can not carry off the style of this dress without wearing a belt to make it more flattering. (By the way the model is super thin & gorgeous... imagine how the rest of us, who have a little bit of curves here and there, would look in this dress?!?).

As for the print, it looks a bit ridiculous unless (1) you are a six-year old girl [because let's face it, little girls make any print look cute because they are so cute to begin with] or (2) you are going to a fishing-themed party [which would explain why J.Crew used the term "Super-fun" in their description of this dress].

Let me start off by saying that the dress in the navy color (navy with white polka dots) is quite nice. I also like the shape of the dress (I actually own both the solid black and solid white versions).

However, I am having a hard time liking the dress in the pinecone color. It seems too busy for me and a bit weird (in terms of fabric pattern). It almost looks like a snake skin design instead of "pine cones" (I am still not sure how they picked "pinecone" as the color name). Maybe (and I do mean maybe) the dress would work with a white cardigan (to minimize the impact from the dress pattern).

If I ignore the cost of the jacket for a moment (although at that price, how can anyone), I still don't "know" about the jacket. There is something about it that doesn't seem appealing to me, but I just can't figure it out. It is certainly not the shape, (as J.Crew puts it "a straight, cropped body with shorter, banded sleeves shaped with tucks for volume"), that I don't like.

I think that my dislike of the jacket might have something to do with the calf-hair as the material base. I just don't think it would be very comfortable to move around in and wear. (Even though I have no problems in the past purchasing calf-hair items from J.Crew, such as the Spotted Cat flats and purse that I already own. But maybe because those were accessories, I viewed them differently.)

What do you think about this jacket? Would you buy it? Do you like the fact that it is calf-hair? Do you not care because the price is so outrageously expensive anyways?
