Not a review- but has anyone tried the cottage dress (Item AY640)? Not a silhouette I'd normally consider but love the print so much I'm considering buying the button down. The reviews are not great (see-through, weird fit), it looks good on one of the two models (on the other one it looks kind of like a bathrobe), and it's final sale. I wish I could have tried it on.
ReplyDeleteYes I tried this one and the earlier one in the store. Both did not work for my body type. I have a very slender upper body and size 00 had too much material on the top. You would have to have muscular shoulder and DdD boobs to fit it. Also if I remember correctly it’s unlined so see through and gapes between the buttons. Beautiful material. If you can get it tailored I would consider.
DeleteHi Flower Power. I agree with kikigirl in that the dress runs big up top and slim through the body. For my curvy pear frame it was an absolute disaster. Plus the sheerness was a deal breaker.
DeleteSounds like I should pass. I'm 5-2 with broadish (relatively(shoulders - 30D chest (which translates to a 32B), narrow hips but biggish rear and thighs that are close together (i.e. no thigh gap). It could be a pleasant surprise or a total disaster. Tailoring is $$$$ in my area (just got charged $13 to shorten a simple dress). Too bad.
DeleteWish J Crew would do 7 day return for sale items instead of final sale!
Did JC forget to pay their bills? The website says access is denied.
ReplyDeleteNever mind… working now
DeleteWhy is the Smocked-waist tank in Liberty Ros floral, Item AY657, so much money? At first I didn’t like this print, but it’s grown on me. Is it the Liberty fabric?
ReplyDeleteI bought the Ribbed collared silk-blend sweater (Item AZ244) in black on promo a few weeks ago. The quality is very good, even though I haven’t washed it yet, but the sleeves may be too long for some. I saw this on a SA awhile ago and I thought it looked nice on her. For me, this is a top that is easy to overlook because I’m drawn to colors that are not black, navy or white. I also think the length of the top is fine since I’m almost six feet tall. I was wary of the length.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the Camille Shrunken Sweater Blazer to try as a topper for cooler temps since blazers are a no go for me and my bad shoulders. I really love it! Same or similar fabric to the Ella blazer but a bit more lightweight. I was t sure what size to buy and with shrunken I decided to order up and it’s roomy so definitely true to size. I’m going to order another color and exchange fory true size. What a lovely find!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, Hope you’re feeling better. Question about the Camille you purchased is his similar in fit to the old Margot Blazer if you by chance remember it? Did our see the striped Camille? I’m concerned about the placement of the stripes given I’m a 34D. I like these type sweaters too they’re very practical especially when they’re on sale. Wondering if I too should go up a size. Thank you and have a wonderful day!!
DeleteHi Lynn! Thanks for the well wishes :). I never tried the Margot. I’ve been pretty loyal to the Ella. I also had the same concerns about the striped Camille and decided to skip it. It’s hard for me to give sizing advice since I haven’t tried my normal size yet. But it is a lovely blazer!
DeleteOh no sorry for the typos 😡
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting the Margot cardigan in chiffon (yellow). I ordered an XS because I've been burned in the past by tight sleeve syndrome. It's very pretty but longer than I like. Think it will be fine tucked into skirts, pants, etc. It's sheer though. The merino wool is lovely.
ReplyDelete@FlowerPower, Thank you but I was referring to the old Margot Sweater Blazer from a few years ago. I purchased your sweater The Margot Cardigan, in the same color and sent it back months ago because I simply didn’t like the fit on me. At 5’7.5 it was long on me which was a pity because as you said the color is beautiful.
