Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Oh yes indeed! Weekend road trip with gal pal to Seattle. Will be doing downtown for sure, maybe Uni Village time permitting. Hope to see some new arrivals, and will be checking out the sale section ;)

  2. Anybody know how the Emmaleigh dress fits? Is it a tighter fit than the Origami dress?

  3. I only plan to visit J.Crew online this weekend. :)

  4. I'll definitely be stopping by teh store this weekend, if only to make sure I know my size for the hacking jacket in tipped wool. It's on sale but I still can't afford/justify it.

Do you think j.crew will give us another % off sometime soon? I love love that jacket, but I'm not making nearly enough money to justify anything that expensive :( So sad.

  5. Does anyone know how the Natasha top in wildcat runs and if it's on sale in stores?

    ReplyDelete
  6. probably not unless they really are having 30% sale. Then I might be tempted to take a peek..

  7. I was in our store two days ago and they said Dec. 5th they'd have the new arrivals??? No plans to go until then. But I'll watch here to see if they are out anywhere else!!

  8. I'm done till after Christmas unless I can find a Collette coat at a crazy low price. I went to the NYC Sample Sale. Lots of great things for folks S or XS. I'm a M or L so things were limited. I got a couple of sweaters.

  9. Need to return the 2 major-fail coats I ordered, so I'll see what I can find in the sale section :o)

  12. OT: has anyone seen the skirt shown in thisproduct shot? I'm assuming it'll be in a later roll-out? but if anyone knows anything about it, let me know :)

  17. Only to make a return. I ordered the Stadium Cloth Car Coat in Buffalo Plaid and a sweater for my dad with the 30% off promo...I've had at least 5 JC deliveries in the last two weeks and 3 more still to come, the madness must stop now...!

  19. Unknown, not sure CC will see this, so I am replying. The UVillage carries some shoes, and I got the Kirtley satchel from there, but it was a return. They have very few bags in the store, and I was told those were returns from online purchases. Last week I returned a red Biennial bag there on Friday, and by Saturday when I went back to the store, it was gone, so nothing lasts in there.

Madewell has some very nice quality merch. I got a silk blouse there last week that is still $99.99 online. In general their hemlines are a bit higher than JC's. HTH

    Also a Vancouverite here...

  20. All of the Illinois stores I have been in this week (that sounds embarassingly obsessive) have an extra 30% off sale.

I am "done" for Christmas and for myself for a while, but I will go today to pick up some sale accessories for stocking stuffers. The bangles in particular are a great deal and who doesn't need more of those?

  21. Has anyone seen the Mens
Vintage selvedge chambray utility shirt on a real live person?

It looks amazing in the photos, and I keep hearing suggestions to buy it for a great xmas gift for your guy. But I've never seen it in person. Anyone? Comments greatly appreciated! I wouldn't want for it to be a frumpy work shirt or something too cowboy! And $100 for what could turn out to be a baggy workshirt is a lot. Should probably check out Farm & Fleet instead :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi, Ruffles -- which colors/styles of the bangles were on sale? I need to pick up some stocking stuffers & the bracelets would be perfect. Thanks!

  25. Arielle -- I bought the Vintage Selvege shirt for my husband and it is as nice as you think! Not cowboy at all. It's virtually the same shirt as the women's version but cut for a man. Looks great with dark jeans or under a blazer. The 'Regular Fit" was TTS for us. I just have to be careful not to wear my women's version at the same time. :) Def. recommended!

  26. I need to go to the mall to return some stuff at Nordstrom, but I'm going to try hard not to buy anything else while I'm there. I've been doing a little too much "one for you, one for me" ...!

However, I will visit the See's Candy kiosk to get my Scotchmallow fix. ;)

  31. Somewhat off topic (I do have to go and return some things from the last promo). I ordered two sized of the cafe capri in wool plaid (the black/red/cream plaid). I am debating whether I should keep either of them. They are very cute, lined, and fit well in the smaller of the two sizes, BUT, they are loud pants. I mean, really loud. 70's golf pants loud. I just wonder how much I will wear them, and whether I will get funny looks when I do.

Does anyone have these pants? Keeping? Wear all the time?

  32. Just how long does it take J.Crew to process returns these days? They've had a big box of mine for almost two weeks now, according to the tracking number on my shipment. Anyone have an idea on the timing? Seems to be taking a bit too long to me.

  33. Just got back, and here's what I found:

Southlake B&M has a lot of items around the store on sale with the add'l 30% off (FS of course) taken at the register.

I wound up getting (prices with add'l 30% off):
stadium cloth boulevard trench in heather charcoal for 160.99
(So glad I let the SA convince me to try on some coats since I was bummed about the ones I returned)
minimalist mockneck sweater in heather henna for 41.99
skinny headbands for 4.89 (so many colors to choose from!!!)

other items I saw (prices are w/o add'l 30% off):
quite a few blouson dresses (paisley and polka dotted in various sizes) marked back up to 89.99 (but who knows? maybe they're still available for 69.99).

    painter turtleneck tee @ 39.99
striped tissue turtleneck tee @ 24.50 or 29.99 (can't really remember now...)
    flair skirts @ 69.99

Saw a lot of the same sale stuff from a few weeks ago too.

University Park Village I only visited for a few minutes bc I wanted to use a coupon at the BR next door.

The sale section there was stuffed with the same stuff I saw back in October. There were some additional items like the Jester turtleneck in pine (didn't look at the price). Saw some cords were marked at 59.99 and there was a sign that the turtlenecks were 19.50.

Didn't bother to check if everything was add'l 30% off there too.

Going to have to refrain from anymore shopping for the rest of this season :o)

  34. @Elaine, all I can think about now is Scotchmallows and I have never had them before! They look wonderful. I love See's Candies...sadly no actual store near me though. Guess a road trip to one of the holiday kiosk soon.

On topic now, anyone see the toothpick cords in stable brown in stores? Sold out in my size online. Is is close to a camel color? I need something to pair with black...and boo for J.Crew for not having these cords in black this year! I used to live in these cords (black and the grays).

  35. 30% off Sale (FS) at Barton Creek Square in Austin, TX. Lots of random sweaters, turtlenecks, some ballet flats. The staff there is great so if you have questions about what they have, just call!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Blakemdjohns, I too bought the plaid cafe capris and love them. I can't wait to wear them. I am typically not a "loud" person and I don't find these to be too loud. They definitely make a statement, but not in a bad way. I think they are super cute. In my experience, if you are not comfortable in them....return, return, return. Chances are, you won't wear them enough to warrant the price.
Also, Atlanta area stores are doing 30% off sale as well. Picked up a few misc. items including thermal tees which are marked down to 24.95 then an additional 30%.

  37. TXgirl14

I saw the toothpick cords at the Crocker Park - Westlake, Ohio store today. I did not look at sizes but they had a few pairs.

  38. TXgirl14 - saw the toothpicks in the stable brown @ the Southlake, TX store I think...you might want to call them just to make sure.

  39. Anyone go to the Sample Sale in NYC? Tomorrow is last day and everything is 50% off. I did not go bc I heard it was crazy packed and not that great. The sales online are so good, I figured I would do better online but now with 50% off I am tempted to stop by. Any recommendations for those who stopped by?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Went to my local J crew store, it was deserted! There was a 30% off final sale going on, but not many takers likely because the merchandise had been on sale for a while. Flair skirts in navy and camel, honeycomb sweaters in limited colors, striped turtlenecks, nothing exciting.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Will beheading over to my local b&m tomorrow to return the few things that didn't work out in the 3 boxes that were delivered to me this week (recent Thanksgiving week and SURPRISE purchases). I'm returning the schoolboy velvet blazer in olive moss. I loved the soft cozy feeling of it but I just can't get excited about the color. I was considering the chartreuse color (anyone want to convince me?) but I'm thinking I just don't need it in the long run.

I am also returning the cafe capri's in wool check. My husband thought they fit weird on me but I objected to them being unlined and a bit itchy.

I am keeping the thermal sweatshirt (love---soft, cozy and adorable. Just the slightest bit cropped on me and fits nicely), the cashmere black tee; the Wynter cowlneck sweater in acorn (This sweater I have come to find looks so cute with button down underneath. I wore it this week with my denim button down shirt and felt great in it. Now I am after one of the gingham shirts); and of course my beloved traveler timex. I am loving that watch esp. with the calf hair strap. Jury is still out on the Feathered crystal necklace. I like it but am afraid I may not wear it enough. As Tim Gunn would say, it's a lot of look.

    Happy weekend everyone!

  42. I stopped in today at the Mall of America store and scored the Perfect Shirt in Royal Paisley on sale + 30% off. So happy...I've been sale stalking that shirt. Has so many of the colors from this season...I'll be able to wear it with a ton of stuff.

Also, I've made a resolution...I've finally hit my breaking point on stripes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Patsystone, I'm sale stalking the charteuse schoolboy too. Everytime it appears in the catalog on a model it looks great. I haven't seen it IRL but I did see the olive and while it was nice, I think the charteuse makes more of a statement.

  44. Can anyone give me the scoop on Madewell's Widelegger Jeans in the Windswept Wash? They are on sale, have my inseam (36") and waist and I am very tempted. Please, if anyone could give me the 411 on these I'd appreciate it! (FWIW I teeter between a 0/2 25/26 at Jcrew depending on the stretch out factor)

  46. I couldn't post fast enough...I'm still laughing... I was downtown tonight and passed a GUY wearing the cafe capris in the wool check (red & black)!! I did a triple check as he passed me -- if they weren't the JC pants, then they were the same fabric at least. He was in his late 20s and wearing them with Doc Martin-style boots and a black coat. I have to admit he looked kind of cool. Now, I love the look of those pants, but I don't know what to think anymore! LOL!

  47. TXGirl14, they had a whole rack of toothpick cords in stable brown at the b&m at Eastview Mall in Victor, NY yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Dissertante -- it has been a while since I tried on the Emmaleigh, but I believe it was similar to the Origami but slightly slimmer.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anyone know if the striped thermal tee in champagne/azalea is on sale in store and if so what is the price? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I am unhappy with the quality of J crew clothing after spending thousands of dollars this past year

    ReplyDelete
  51. Clicquot: That story made me laugh out loud!

Dagmara: That's what I think, too. The chartreuse would be more exciting. I think what I love about that blazer is that it's a classic rendered in a more interesting fabric but in the olive moss, it brings it back to expected.

I went in today and made my returns. I was able to try on the Snowden Funnelneck sweater jacket. Very cute! May run a bit big but maybe it's supposed to be that long. I tried on a small and it seemed pretty roomy and long.

They also had some of those cute Fair Isle leggings in the store so i tried those on. Also cute and very cozy but in the end I could only think of one skirt they would go with (definitely not to be paired with a pencil skirt unless of course you have an advanced degree in "Crazy J Crew Styling") so I had to reluctantly pass. I ended up leaving with a wool scarf I think is in store only. It's a very cute tartan pattern with black and green and red. They had another one that is similar to the loudish plaid on those cafe capris with a cream background and warm red and black.

  52. patsystone - Good info about the thermal sweatshirt. Thanks for sharing!

shopalot - I haven't seen the azalea/white stripe on sale.

Irl pics of the graceful pearl necklace & cambon cardigan in this post.

  53. xoxo - I'm in MD & returns to JC warehouse are processed very quickly for me, most times within 3-4 days. Maybe they're swamped due to the recent promo's. Guess I'll find out since I just sent a box Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I made a visit to the b&m Friday & the sale section is 30% off, filled w/alot of haggered knits. I did find a hidden gem, a navy Stripe out tee item 49191, which I passed up on line but found very flattering on irl. Love it enough to order a second one in vintage elm online.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hear people luv the tissue turtleneck tees, and I want to order but am on the fence as I got a tissue long sleeve tee and am super disappointed in the quality. It torqued around the middle so the side seams are not running on the sides but curving around the stomach. And it stretched but didn't "bounce back" so now it's just baggy. They were $20 too on promo when I got them, wth?

Is this the same for the tissue turtleneck tees? Are factory better?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Looks like there was an update to the sale section this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  57. pathos, I have quite a few turtleneck tees and they are a wardrobe staple IMO. Never had a quality issue (no holes and no stretching out). I haven't tried this year's version because I tend to buy them after Xmas when they get very cheap (as I already have all the basic colors) but I think they are definitively worth the price.

    ReplyDelete
  58. question: i'm going to manhattan next week and i was wondering which of the j crew stores located there is the best?

    ReplyDelete
  59. taite, the rockefeller center and 5th ave at 15 street shouldn't be missed, they're the newest, largest, and have pretty great sale sections if you're doing a lot of sight-seeing it shouldn't be hard to hit most of them.

    ReplyDelete
  60. pathos,

All my tissue turtelnecks are from several years ago and they have held up great. I would like to know what this years are like too. Not sure about quality anymore. All of mine I have tended to buy on super sale end of seasons past.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hi Everyone, I want to tell you all how important it is to return DEFECTIVE merchandise whenever it happens to you. We all love JCrew, but the only way they are ever going to get the message about their quality decline is when we return the item and bring it to their attention. I had two almost brand new items acquire holes this weekend. I am sending them back and demanding refunds. Please do the same for the love our favorite retailer!

    ReplyDelete
  62. @Sara I did that twice in store for sweaters that got holes after one wash. The SAs were very resistant, but I wouldn't budge. They finally gave me a refund. It is very frustrating when retailers you love target shoppers who can afford throw away items after one season. :(

    ReplyDelete
  63. also, @taite. i find the store near 5th and the low teens (memory failing me for exact street sorry) to have a decent sale selection.

    ReplyDelete
  64. pathos - The bounce issue is that there's no spandex in it whatsoever. The turtleneck feels baggy because of that. I rarely wear the tissue turtleneck tees solo. I like the looser feel of it, though. I understand what you're talking about with the sewing job. I think people rave about them anyway because they're thin and don't add any bulk. Think of it as a comfy layer.

    ReplyDelete
  65. This weekend I saw:

    SF Centre (415 434 2739)
    * fisherman henley sweater, navy, three in larger sizes like L, XL
    * flair skirt in blurred rose, one sz 0, three in size 2

    Pleasanton (925 463 2100) -
    * Biella high heel loafer - black & warm taupe, at least 8 pair. I know there were sizes 7, 7.5, 8 & 8.5 I wear 7.5, but 8 in J Crew. I could not fit into any of the 8s I tried so I think this shoe runs a little narrow. 8.5 fit. These are $59.99
    * Greer platform heels - Very nice, neutral shoe and a nude for some. Size 8 fit me so take your regular J Crew shoe size in this one. The box said $129.99, but there is a chance they are now $79.99. I can't recall. They had warm sienna. I don't recall seeing black.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thanks for all the feedback on the tissue turtleneck tees. Totally want to wear them under other turtlenecks. Love that they'd be thin enough, just as Gigi has said. I'll wait for super-duper sale and get some basics. :>

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sara- I agree on pressing the issue with defective clothing. Even the Gap offered to take back tees (years ago) when I told them some long sleeve tees had torqued. They considered that a defect of sewing/material.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Went to my B&M in Tampa, Fl. Got great items at "kill prices." Blythe Blouse $29.74, Bateau Tee $2.97, and the Sequin Slouchy tee $5.94. Any one know what kill prices are and when they are used? I was way too excited to pass them up!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Help! I am on the fence about ordering the Flair skirt in double-serge wool
item# 47315- in Purple dawn and henna.
Is it currently cheaper in stores? Also, how does the sizing run- I just gave birth so i'm not sure which size to get - my pre-pregnancy size 00 or current size 0 (is there a big difference in the fit)?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Can anyone recall if they saw the Lady Lace Popover sweater in sz. L at any of their stores? TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Chanie and Yossi
I actually tried that skirt this weekend at my B&M in Cambridge, MA after stalking it forever. I must say its TTS and it was definitely cheaper at $69.99 (before 30% FS). Alas, I didn't buy it as it was alittle too flair and not flattering to my hips.
I highly recommend going in to check it out in person! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  72. @Syl- were all colors $69.99 in stores?

    ReplyDelete
  73. This comment has been removed by the author.

  74. Lushandlovely, the kill price is an extremely low price that is used when a store has only 1 or 2 of an item left and wants it out the door.

    ReplyDelete
  75. To MARISA,
I don't know if this is helpful to you but I reviewed the Madewell widelegger jean in my blog. I'd recommend a 26 if you're a 26 in JCrew. They don't really stretch out much because the material is fairly thin.

  76. @Chanie and Yossi

IIRC, I saw the acorn, navy, cool pine in the sale section!

I really liked the purple dawn online but I didn't see it there. The acorn was actually a nice subtle color.

    ReplyDelete
  77. joelle,
Thank you! I did see your review when I was combing the internet for help. The sizing advice is much, much appreciated. If there isn't much stretch I would need the 26 for sure!

    Thanks!
