Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. For those in love with the Matchstick in Indigo floral, there is a great dupe at Old Navy. Matchsticks don't work for me at all (while toothpicks are the best fitting pants ever) so I was happy to find these. You may have to fiddle around with sizes a bit. Old Navy also has a version of the Dotted Tee. I just threw together a quick post on my blog.

    I also stopped by my store, sale section was humongous but I walked away empty handed. Prices were just too high.

    1. Good find. Floral jeans will only last a season or two and will be dated so buying an inexpensive yet nice pair is the way to go!

  2. SF Westfield - a few items I saw early in the day on Thursday:
    * Biennial medium satchel - saddle x2+ ($199.99)
    * Biennial satchel - blue sea x 2 ($259.99)
    * contrast-knit blazer - 2 x sz 12, 1 x sz 4
    * Jules dress in scroll print - 1 x sz 8, there was a 2nd one, don't recall the size

    Friday is supposed to be the last day for 30% off in-stores & online. We'll see if they continue the promo in-store. There are some languishing pieces...

    1. p.s. sale necklaces that I mention are not marked at SF Westfield, but should ring up w/the $24.99 price.

    2. Regarding in-store prices, the indigo floral quilted jacket (review) is on promo for $198 online vs. $159.99 in-store.

      Also -- SF Westfield 415.434.2739 had 2 grand stone necklaces ($89.99). One was in the jewelry case, the ones near the registers. The other was on necklace display in the front of the store, among some merchandise.

    2. My local Factory store had this in stock with 20% off and they'll stack the 20%/25% off $125 coupon on top of that. All women's apparel (not shoes, accessories, or jewelry) is 40% off (full price) through 3/20 as well. Sale section was pretty full as well - silk heartthrob blouses, heartthrob cardis, dotdotdash skimmers, merino charley sweaters, chambray boatnecks, etc... The 40% off also applies to markdowns, but then they are final sale.

  12. OT- would someone who owns the Collection Embellished Raglan Sweayshirt speak to how it washes? Are the stones staying in place? Does it shrink, wrinkle out of the dryer? I got one on popback and am debating on whether to keep. Thank you.

  14. I went to the Michigan Avenue B&M yesterday, and cece ballet flats, sweaters (not cashmere), and tees were all 20% off; sale items were an additional 30% off. I don't know if they continue through the weekend, but there were still a lot of sale items for them to get rid of...

  15. Has anyone seen the Biennial Cutout Hobo IRL? It looks BEAUTIFUL.

  16. Yep, I'll go sometime soon to return some of my sale items. Congratulations to JCrew for being the first retailer to sell a pair of pants that is actually too long for me in heels. I believe these have a 37'' inseam; usually a 36'' is what I need. I am impressed that there is still room to let the hem out if need be. I love the fit of the pants but they AREN'T LINED. GRRR. Serious question - where can I get a LINED pair of 100% wool pants without breaking the bank?
    I am on the fence about the paley pants in super 120s. Again, not lined. But cute. But I worry that they are so thin that the color of my undies will show through if I'm not careful. Why can they line the skirt in 120s but not the pants? I'm also returning the ink dip popover (hideous in both cut and color), perfect shirt in linen (blah), black minnies (too small), and the merino vneck in pink (cute but I overpaid).

  18. Hi ladies! Kind of dumb styling question. Has anyone else purchased the Pleated dress in Super 120s? I LOVE it. There's stitching in the bottom to keep the pleats in place through shipping, and then smaller stitching at the bust pleats. I cut the stitching at the bottom - do I cut the bust stitching too? It's less obvious than the bottom pleats so I'm at a loss.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I just looked at the photo on the website and it seems they have undone the bust stitching as well. Usually the stitching that is deemed temporary does not go through all the way to the ends of the pleat, if it is stitched parallel to the pleat or the pocket.

      If you are still unsure I would ask a personal shopper.

  20. Heading to factory to do lots of returns, got my latest order and very disappointed. Tee shirt, huge in S, Pencil skirts large in my normal 4. I have no idea what size I am any more at J Crew Retail or Factory so buying online impossible and certainly no Final Sale. Sorry a bit of a vent.

  22. I won't be shopping this weekend, but I did pick up my silver Valentinas from the cobbler yesterday. I had a half sole put on for a little extra padding, and also had the heel shortened by about a half inch. They feel much more comfortable on my foot, glad I did this. We'll see how they feel at the end of the day. :-)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This is a great idea! I find my Valentina's very slippery. Did you put rubber on the bottom?

      Delete
    2. The cobbler put a rubber sole on the front half of the shoe and replaced the heel plate (is that what it's called?) with a black rubbery one. This has transformed these shoes for me. There is no slipping and the comfort level is much better for my feet. I thought the silver Valentinas were especially uncomfortable, for some unknown reason.

      I think it cost about $25 for both things to be done. I have two other pairs of Valentinas (teal, leopard print) and I'm taking them in for the same treatment.

      It's great when something works out like this.

  28. I just went to J Crew- not the same one that I was at yesterday, and they honored the educator discount, so the 2 stores have both confirmed that they will allow the discount with the 30% off sale. It definitely helped convince me to make a larger purchase today.

  30. Just recvd the military popover. Beware if you bouffant because it will mess up your 'do. It has the same degree of difficulty as the wool peacoat popover. The Russian judge gives it a 9. I took XS based on measurements provided by cs. I think it runs a little short, so beware if you have a longer torso and are a XS or S. It's like an apron. Like a smock. Like a jacket. But mostly like a top. If I got the small, I could fit a button down under, but I don't want to wear it like that. I prefer the closer fit to the body and will only wear tees with it. The color is not as warm as depicted online. More like a dull, cool green. A slight disappointment, but I got over it quickly. Still wearing it right now. Very comfortable.

    I don't like the tortoise/links necklace. The gold is too reflective (read: shiny) for my taste. Too bad cuz the tortoise links are nice. The US judge says disqualified.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just got back. My store had lots of newer items on first markdown: liberty jackets, dot schoolboys, and the tipped silk boy shirts in all three colors. I did get the ivory/black for 79.99 - 30% AND they stacked the educator's discount. Happy. Sale section was bursting but the prices were still high IMO.

    I also got one of the cute marked-down retail necklaces with tiny scattered gold lockets for 24.99 - it is very reminiscent of one I had from maybe 2008 (Does anyone remember it?) with large scattered lockets. I'm with Gigi on the tortoise/links one - it looked inexpensive (read: cheap) and didn't appeal to me even thought they are giving them away.

  41. Slightly OT, but did anyone in the community visit the warehouse sale in Lynchburg today? Thinking of making the trip tomorrow (for the first time!) and wanted to know if it's worth it/what to expect.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I went to the sample sale in Lynchburg today. Unlike last month, which was my first visit to one of these sales, there was not a line to get in but the sale was crowded indoors. When entering the warehouse, you are handed a price sheet and large plastic bag for your items.

      There was more merchandise on the floor today than the sale in February. I saw a lot of pants, t-shirts, dresses, shirts, shoes, and bathing suits. I saw more coats and wedding dresses this time. There were fewer skirts and blazers than last month.

      The prices were the same as the February sale (I think) with an added 15% off. I spent about 3 hours at the sale and left with 3 pants, 2 blouses, 2 dresses, 2 cashmere sweaters, a blazer, a skirt, and a few t-shirts, for a total of about $200.

      If you go, I suggest you take comfortable shoes, a purse that allows for free hands, and maybe water and a snack. The merchandise is laid out in cardboard boxes on tables in the warehouse. You will stand on a concrete floor and sort through rows of boxes while you hunt for your finds. I thought the J Crew employees at the sale were all very nice and helpful. Good luck if you go!

I think $24.99.
