Take 30% off Final Sale with STYLE2013

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa & JSR (in this post), as well as Alexandra, who let us know about the following promotion.

J.Crew is offering an additional 30% off Final Sale with promo code STYLE2013. This offer expires Friday, January 4, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of sale items in J.Crew retail stores or at jcrew.com from December 31, 2012, 12:01am ET through January 4, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or to the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or combined with any other promotion. To redeem, enter the code STYLE2013 in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
It is nice to finally see the additional percent off available online as well. (Considering B&M stores have been offering 30% off sale for awhile.) Also, happy to see this offer is being extended in brick & mortar stores for a bit longer.

Not happy about... in order to make the free shipping minimum of $175, your cart has to add up to that amount *after* the discounts are applied. Grrr.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share!

  1. Good morning, JCAs. In case you're wondering, the count went from about 900+ to 1200+ for the update. Happy shopping :)

    1. Good morning Gigi! The update this morning was good, but I was hoping for better. I think I have been spoiled by all the 1300/1400+ updates in the last two weeks. ;)

    2. There were some weird things that showed up. Likely one or two that will have some cash and a used tissue in them. ;) Sometimes...don't treat yo'self

Happy New Year, Alexis! Thanks so much for this space and all you do here. It is really, really appreciated :)

    3. "Sometimes...don't treat yo'self" LOL!!!!

Happy new year to you too Gigi! :)

    4. Hah! The cash + used tissue popback is just SO insane. I got a popback blazer that was a year old, had some sort of un-removable resin stain on the shoulder, and smelled like someone else's shampoo. I said,"Whose house have you been living in, little blazer?" This is a decent post-holiday sale, I just bought the trompe l'oeil lace blouse and the neon gingham boyshirt...been waiting on that one to hit fs + 30% since, as we all predicted back in November, not a lot of people think "I want pastels" over the holidays.

      Happy New Year, everyone!

    5. I agree on the defective or worn merchandise being sold on the website, it belongs in one of their clearance centers or warehouse sales, not at Final Sale where someone is obviously expecting something in at least NEW condition. I'm laying low on this sale, the Christmas promos have spoiled me and unless something is steeply discounted I'm not risking final price.

  2. Got a bunch of non-final sale items plus a Tippi (fs). "Grrr" is exactly how I feel about the $175 after discounts minimum for free shipping. Missed on a pop-back because I was trying to get there. GRRR!

  3. Funny how the promos were better before christmas. Final sale promos should be better and cheaper. Not biting no matter what!!! Dislike final sale. I only check out blogs during this time and never the jcrew site. I have found some great sales elsewhere that others mention here:-)

  4. I didn't see anything this morning, but I bit on final sale the other day, on a bathing suit of all things yikes. I think I knew the correct size, but the color is iffy (tankini in Jazzy Purple, tell me I won't hate it? lol). It wasn't even that great of a markdown. I think I will never learn to Just Say No to Final Sale!

    1. I got a bikini in jazzy purple last year, and I like the color a lot. The color you see online is a pretty accurate representation of what you'll get irl - a true purple that isn't bright, is lighter than raisin, and not as red as mulberry.

Although, after all that, you still might hate it... :p

    2. Thanks Whitney! I am glad to hear you like it, gives me hope. I honestly can't tell the color online. Jazzy Purple looks a lot like their Sutton Purple to me. Well we'll see, it's only a bathing suit after all :)

  5. Sizing can be so off even with in same item. That is why I no longer buy from final sale. I got a shirt for my sister and one for me. We both wear the same size. One fit fine. The other was off in size and too tight in shoulders. I also have my own share or worn, dirty or just plain defective popbacks that got old to return. I just don't have time to deal with that in my life and I am sure many others will get sick of it over time. Used items are the worst. Also ones that smell strongly of perfume and have been worn just gross me out!

    1. This comment made me feel better. I got a schoolboy blazer this year the same size and material as one I got two years ago - and it was too small! I had to go up a size and felt terrible about myself, but now I'm hesitant on FS. I've gotten two other schoolboys this year when they were steeply discounted, and the size was fine. No idea why the wool ones didn't work.

  6. Does anyone here have any thoughts about the Liberty perfect shirt in claire-aude or wiltshire? Those are the only things that tempt me.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Denee, I purchased the wiltshire last week at my B&M and love it, it has shades of blues with mauve. I did get it for $69.99 with 30% off so you may want to try to locate at a store first. I know that Park Meadows, Colorado store had them (303-649-9620). HTH.

      Delete
    2. Was it $69.99 AFTER the discount or before? My somewhat local store has them for $99 before the discount.

      Delete
    3. It was $69.99 before the discount, just checked my receipt and it was $48.99. The SAs there are really nice so I would call so see if they have your size.

      Delete
    4. Just a heads up. This is the shirt that ran small. Two in exact same size did not fit the same!!!!

      Delete
    5. I have both - I love 'em!

On my screen, the claire-aude looked like it had some blue in it - it does not. It's a darker army green, just a touch on the blue side. At any rate, this print is great - I've worn it with red, deep pink, orange, bright yellow, mustard yellow, army green, true green - the colors seem to go with everything!

I also bought the Wiltshire in store for 48.99 - and 2 sizes SMALLER than my claire-aude - and the fit is nearly the same. Bust is same, body is a touch smaller. The wiltshire will go with a lot for me this spring - navy, cobalt, lavender, and mint.

  7. I haven't been able to try on ANY of the items I'd be interested in buying from this sale. Not gonna risk it with final sale. When has it gone away in years past, JCA Historians?

  8. i bought and returned so many items before the holidays. not taking a chance on any other items now and ending up stuck with them. especially not at these prices!

  9. Can anyone tell me if the hothouse floral blouse is on final sale? Customer Service was able to locate one for me but they couldn't tell me if it was final sale, the one they found for me is priced at $109 at that price I don't want to chance it being something someone wore and brought back....gross!

    1. Pink Peppermint, I know that I have seen lots of them in my local B&Ms at that price with 30% off which makes it Final Sale according to the rules of the promo. But I would see if they would waive that if you have not tried it on. HTH

    2. Thank you so much JRSConifer I just don't want to take any chances this blog has definitely been helpful when it comes to shopping at J. Crew you guys are the best!

  10. I am officially making it a resolution for 2013. No final sale from J. Crew or anyone else. It's part of my overall budgeting resolution. I no longer allow myself to waste money, and too often final sale is exactly that. Like Original Genny said, you can't even rely on sizing to be the same on an item you've already tried. Might as well take a few hundred dollar bills, wad them up and flush them down the toilet. Final sale is THAT bad.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sounds like a worthwhile resolution. I will make this one too. Good thing I bought that elbow-patch houndstooth blazer just under the wire this morning ;-).

I totally agree though. Starting tomorrow.

    2. I agree, unless it is in store or I have tried it on it really is a gamble. I did purchase the Emmett tall boots on sale plus the 30% off, they were not Final Sale though. I did check with online chat since the description says import so I wanted to know where they were made and was told they are Made in Italy, hope that is true. I love J Crew boots they wear like the dickens and are always so comfortable so if they work out a good investment.

    3. There are a lot of promo items that receive the 30% off right now, so it's a good time to try them before they become final sale. The list is here on my blog. The Belstaff® air bomber jacket and Collection Linen Slicker are both on the list, making them a much better deal with the 30% off, if anyone is interested in either of them. :)

  12. Update to the In-Store Price Guide. Mostly some price differences in shoes. They're marked w/the date 12/20 in red.

  13. I finally snagged the Chiffon Dot Top in Dublin Green, yay! I am officially shopped out, and will only be stopping in the b&m on Wednesday to make a bunch of returns (holiday gifts that did not work out). Happy New Year, JCAs!

  14. I had three things in my cart and now there's only one left. Don't remember what the things were that are now gone and no regrets at all.
Does anyone think there's a chance the size 00 are available in the stores for the silk tie capri in purple or black? Those are the only things I really, really want ...

    ReplyDelete

    1. Mine got dumped too. My theory is if I can't remember what was in the cart, I didn't want it very much. There is nothing at J. Crew I really want these days, but those pants are both so beautiful and if I had anywhere to wear them I would want them a lot. I haven't seen them in stores, though.

I wish they'd roll out the rest of the spring collection, I want to shop for warm weather (she says, with snow on the ground and no warm-weather vacation in sight!).

  16. It looks like there are quite a few popbacks this morning. I ordered the Double-serge Wool Pencil Skirt in Mauve Blush and the Chambray Pajamas this morning, both of which were sold out yesterday.

  17. Whitney: "Whose house have you been living in, little blazer?"
That is so funny! I am still laughing!
And it makes me forget that I took off a pair of earrings to try on a pair yesterday and left my pair in the store ... 40 miles away!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh no! I lost an earring at a J. Crew last year. It was sentimental and I was determined to find it. I must have spent 30 minutes hunting around the store for it. I eventually found it in my own shirt lol! I hope you get yours back!

    2. Aw, I hope you get your earrings back, too, Rip-A-Roo!

  18. Whitney: I am still wondering what J.Crew did with the obviously custom orthotics I found in a pair of worn shoes. I have to guess the shoes went to some other unsuspecting shopper.

    1. Bwah-haha gross! Honestly, the only reason I was merely perplexed as opposed to pissed at getting an obviously pre-worn blazer is that it had popped back online after a year and only cost $29. The original price was closer to $200, so I decided to think of it as a gently worn Goodwill/Ebay purchase. I feel like used returns would have gone to the Factory stores in the past, but now that Factory is pretty much Old Navy to J.Crew's Gap, they got nowhere else to go.

  19. Their after Christmas sale has been more than lackluster. Very disappointing that markdowns are not lower for final sale items.

  20. Hi ladies, I need to ask you all a question. I made three purchases under the BOXING30 discount and nowhere did it say Final Sale. When I received my shipping notification it stated Final Sale under each item. Was BOXING30 final sale? I read, and reread the details and nowhere did it mention that. Please advise before I write them and embarrass myself! Thanks girls, Happy New Year!

    1. I also placed an order for an item using the boxing promo. I bought a coat that did not say final sale nor did the item on the confirmation email. I used online chat to confirm that it wasn't final sale. I was told since it ended in .99 it was final sale even if it didn't say so. She did agree to make a note on the order that I could return it if it doesn't work out since there was no mention of final sale when I ordered. I did get the shipping confirmation email and there still was no mention of final sale so I probably would have been fine without the note on the order. But, I wanted to be sure. I suggest using the online chat and tell them your concern.

  21. Thanks so much for your response. Honestly, I'm becoming a bit disgruntled and feeling cheated. I've been shopping with J. Crew for many years and the past couple have been full of disappointments, unfortunately. I miss the integrity of product being backed up by excellent and caring customer service who stand firmly behind their products.
