Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Considering getting the merino cardigan jacket in grey. I missed it the first go around because I couldn't justify it in Florida but it does get pretty nippy some winter nights. Definitely getting the sailor striped pants, again. I wore the ones I got last year twice before an errant pen ruined them. So glad they're back.

    1. How is the fit of the sailor pant?

    2. D*ska, not sure if you're already tried this, but we recently had to get a pen mark out of my husband's cotton jacket. We have a bar of that Laudress bar that J.Crew sells (item 28112) and have used it in the past for ring-around-the-collar, etc (with much success) but it was also surprisingly effective on removing this pen mark. That thing is a real miracleworker! Other JCAs recommended it last year so I'm really glad I bought it.

    3. The merino jacket runs very large. It properly has drop shoulders and flappy front panels on me in my usual XS.

    4. @JSR Fit is ttts in the pant.

    5. @maqsad I was wondering if an xs would be big still...now it's sold out of xxs. So much for restocking it, JCrew๐Ÿค”

      @mygoddy Thanks!

    6. JSR, I'm positive there will be returns. Keep your eyes peeled, or get on that must-have list?

    7. I got the merino cardigan jacket yesterday in the mail. Runs large. I would usually be a medium or large in a cardi and I would need a small in this. Lovely fabric and nicely constructed!

    8. Also bought the gray merino cardigan blazer this weekend (size down, y'all). Obsessed doesn't even begin to cover how I feel about this bad boy! They really need to make this a staple item in their collections (and bring it out in many more colors)!

    9. I went to exchange my gray merino cardigan at the store for a small. Loved it in black - so bought black in small and have gray on order. This is a great piece. I would love to see it in fuschia or a nice red or orange!

  2. I won't stop by this weekend but I did stop by earlier this week and tried on some items including the ruffle chambray Regent, ornate floral blouse/Tippi, striped tunic, windowpane Martie, stripe tie Tippi and a few of the De Feo t-shirts. Also tried the vineyard jacquard dress and Ratti floral skirt. I tried the cotton Maddie pants for the first time and they were a love - wishlisted. On the fence about several items. With snow on the ground, it's hard to buy spring clothes!

You can see photos on my blog here.

    1. Thanks, Anne! I do love the ornate floral print, but am still put off by the navy collar on the Tippi. I know you're not crazy about the print, but what did you think of the navy trim, did it look/feel out of place when you had it on?

    2. Your reviews are fabulous, very helpful. Thanks a lot!

    3. Ooh I am excited about the cotton Maddie pants! I love the length & the silhouette. I'm losing weight though so I'll hold off until I get where I want to be. :)

      Delete
    4. @shopgrrl I like the concept of the solid trim but I think the navy was a little out of place with the rest of the color scheme - a light blue or sage green would have rounded it out better. I didn't hate it though - I liked the concept of the solid back of the sweater and collar - it didn't seem out of place if that makes any sense. I think you should try it if you like the print!

      Delete
    5. @maryeb glad to help out!

@taylor I think the pants would be totally up your alley. You've got some time before it's warm enough to wear them :)

    6. @shopgrrrl to give a different perspective on the ornate tippi, I just received it in the mail yesterday and I absolutely love the navy. The print is very busy so the navy kind of anchors the look. Because the colors are more subdued in person, it had to be a bold, darker color to add visual interest and navy is perfect. Anything lighter would be washed out by the muted color scheme. Plus, navy adds a more modern feel to the retro print.
I know everyone has different opinions, but this was a surprise love for me (not a tippi fan normally)

  3. No store visit but ordered a few things online that popped back in my size. Concerned about sizing due to reviews & CS waived FS. Trying the Collection Ratti fruity floral Lena Pumps; hoping they'll work since this would be a great shoe for spring. Also ordered pink paisley printed leather heels; with pink being everywhere for spring, they should be a good transition option. Toe boxes on shoes like this can be tricky for me. I really love a nice tunic sweater so trying Collection Italian Cashmere turtleneck. Hoping it works since this would be a great option with suede or leather leggings. Love the look but don't wear a lot of turtlenecks, so this is my experiment...fingers crossed.

    1. Hi Mygoddy, I bought the pink paisley printed heels in the fall and they are beautiful! I've only worn them around the house to try them so far because it was already cold here but they seem comfy. I think that started my slight obsession with pink this year. I hope they work out for you!

      Delete
    2. Those Ratti Lena heels are so tempting, especially at the sale price! I have talked myself out of them each time they popped back in my size since I'm not wearing heels lately. Looking forward to seeing how you style them (and hoping they work for you, of course).

    3. Those are such gorgeous shoes, I hope they work out for you!

    4. That Italian cashmere turtleneck looks fabulous and would look great with leggings. I am looking forward to your review.

    5. The collection turtleneck is amazing if you are tall. It is soft and thick and the color is really pretty, with a bright blue woven through it. It is just long. It was too long for me at under 5'4".

      Delete
    6. Thanks ladies! I'm hopeful it all works. Sale prices are great and these are items I would get lots of use. @Jan glad to know that you're happy with the shoe and that it's comfortable. @Beverly Burden I'm just over 5.8. so height shouldn't be an issue. Appreciate the feedback on quality of the cashmere and the weave pattern.

  4. How charming and nice! Stopped by my local J Crew and in celebration of Chinese New Year, they were giving out rooster pins as "gifts with purchase". An unexpected surprise. Not sure how many stores are doing this. There was a choice of two colorways

  5. Funny Vancouver sure didn't give them out...
    new arrivals...
-fatigue shirt (New style with buttons down the sides) super thin..like tissue paper thin.
-Ratti print pop over super thin ( very puffy sleeves)
-tunic striped top (this will def make it to super sale..its like something from the hospital..nice cuffs though.
store waas really boring..Canada not getting FEB STYLE GUIDE..
    ornate floral blah
really wanted to try the cardi with the tulle trim...didn't have it...really had very few of the new arrival...oh well

  6. The mall that my local J Crew is in seemed to have some special events for Chinese New Year, so perhaps that's why my local store was giving out the rooster pins as gifts with purchase and why the Vancouver store was not?

  7. Ordered the red zebra cardi since the price is so low, and it will be cute for Valentine's Day. I also ordered (not on sale) the comme des garconnes converse collab, too, since I've been pining over them for a long time. I should probably start a shopping ban in February! I've gotta be able to make it through the shortest month of the year, right? ๐Ÿ™ˆ

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have had my heart (pun intended) on the Commes converses, too! I'm interested in how the sizing runs. I need to do a ban, too. The shoes and coats on sale got me this month.

      Delete
    2. Totally botched the spelling in my post-- oops. I'll report back on sizing! I am an 8.5 nearly everywhere, and I sized down to an 8 based on what other reviewers noted.

      Delete
    3. Um, I may have also picked up a red signet bag for about $60, too... ๐Ÿ™Š

      Delete
  8. The converses do look fun!

At my local store Toda, the sweater blazers were sold out in the smaller sizes, so I couldn't try it. I would have paired it with the London tee and ivory Marties. I did try the latter, and found the pant to feel wonderful, bur I wasn't okay with the pockets and seams showing through. I also paired that tee with the new Windowpane Marties, and it was a fun outfit! The tee also worked with a sale pair of polka dot Sammies, which I picked up with Spring in mind. I also went home with the tee. Way more than I've ever spent on one. But I'll truly wear it a lot. Next week I'll get the Windowpane Marties.

Question for you petites: Have you compared the Regular and Petite Marties? I'm okay with the regular fit, but wonder if it could be even better...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks for asking this @SarahFolz. I'd be interested in a comparison between the regular and petite, too.

I'd also like to know how the cotton Martie compares to the cotton Maddie. TIA!

      Delete
    2. @maryeb i reviewed the cotton Maddie yesterday. Maddie has a straight leg (full length) and Martie is a cropped slim leg. HTH

      Delete
    3. Thanks @Ina. I saw that on your IG, very helpful!
Do you prefer the Regular length in the Maddie over the Petite?

      Delete
    4. @maryeb in addition to what Ina said, the Martie is a side zip and the Maddie is a front zip with belt loops. I think the Maddies fit a little more generous than the Martie as well.

      Delete
    5. Oh, I took another look at your review, @Ina, and see that you folded the regular length Maddie under. How much did you have to fold under. I'm just a little taller than you, 5'3.5".

      Delete
    6. Thanks @Anne!! I saw that some reviews suggested sizing down in the Maddie.

      Delete
    7. @maryeb. I usually just buy the regular length and have it hemmed. I had to fold one hemlength under to make it the right size for me.
Concerning the fit,i found i need a 0 in both pants.

  9. Interesting turn of events on J. Crew's Instagram...they posted a photo of a vegan baker's purse, and it happened to be the calf-hair signet. Commentors pointed out the irony of this and now they have swapped "organic" in place of "vegan." Anyone else catch that? How did marketing not realize that product placement and caption might get some flack?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I saw the ,,organic" and the ,,dairy free, of course" (as if milk can't be organic?) and thought it was a strange connection. Now I see where that came from. Quite a funny situation if you ask me.

      Delete
    2. @Polishedteacher, oh wow, just saw the post you're talking about! Definitely a bizarre oversight on their part - the baker's featured a few times in the feed with that purse (also in the PJ top and the striped trench). The whole thing is so surprising, puzzling how no one caught that, as it seems like an obvious contradiction.

      Delete
    3. Meant to add that they took out the organic reference as well.

      Delete
    4. I saw that, too! It's wonderful that they are highlighting a small business, but it was a blunder that they paired those two together. It opens up that small business to criticisms, too.

      Delete
    5. @Polishedteacher, re) 'It opens up that small business to criticisms, too.' - yes, that, too!! I checked out her feed, which is linked in the original JC post, and at the time, there was only one politely, critical post, but I can imagine it just wasn't the best idea. Some of her customers might be disappointed. Anywho, hopefully there won't be too much backlash - those treats look very tasty!

  10. I received:

Thomas Mason Stripe Shirt with grosgrain ribbon (F9517) - my first Thomas Mason shirt, so I'm not familiar w/ the fit. Ordered a 2, because there are no darts. The fit on the chest was perfect on me (36B, 4'11). The sleeves, as expected a tad long cause I'm petite, but not ridiculously long. My plan was to try and return but it might be a keeper. Not thrilled about the price, as I've never bought a cotton shirt for $138. Was hoping to use my reward when it arrives in Feb, but the shirt is sold out in all sizes!

Also ordered the Lea Ballet Flats in snakeskin 5.5, and Gold in a 6: since I'm medium width, size 6 felt comfortable than the 5.5. The elastic helps support your feet in case you opted to go up half a size from your usual size. These flats remind me of Celine--almost similar in design. I like both the gold and snakeskin.

My third order is the Net-a-Porter x JCrew faux fur navy stripe stole. So luxurious! What a steal for $56!

    1. Glad you like th stole! I also love those flats, very simple and chic. But I have a shoe problem!

    2. I have a shoe problem too:). I bought six pairs this week ( 2 seavees,Colette,2 Inez and a Nike workout sneaker)

    3. I know what you mean by shoe addict! ๐Ÿ˜‚ So far I've been good with not buying too much on shoes. I take the train/walk to work; I don't like it getting worn out (speaking in Golom voice) my precious shoes....haha! I just wear my Superga sneaks.

    7. Re: Mason shirt: Yup, another pricing error, I think it was literally the very next day after it showed up on the site. The shirt was on sale for 79.99 plus 40% off! Got sold out pretty fast.

    8. No wonder it sold out...wow, I missed that. Anytime I order online I take the item off my wishlist, so there was no way of me knowing that glitch sale.

  12. I been waiting for ChaTeu parka to go on sale in grey or black..., when do you guys think that might be.... also, what are your thoughts on vail parka from factory, quality and sizing? Thanks all for your help...

    1. Hi Kate - search "Vail" on this blog (top right under the banner) and I think JCA's have compared it to the Chateau before (here, for starters). I could've sworn Gigi reviewed it in full on her blog, but can't seem to find it. Maybe I imagined it! ; )

    2. Thanks... good review.... would be nice to hear this seasons as to quality.... I ordered the city coat and it felt like fleece.... just wanted to know of if vail would be same....

    3. Hi Kate, I put my hands on the Black Chateau Parka at the end of the season last year around this time. I got it for $179 when a few sizes were left and marked down for sale. I already had the Dusty Ginger color from previous year. I'd say I really like the Black. It is very versatile.

  13. I stopped by the store at Old Orchard in the Chicago area. Nothing too thrilling- no sales, except for whatever was leftover from Christmas. Lots of sizes gone. And they're already trying to sell shorts and summer tops?? It's January! Anyway, I do like the windowpane Penny shirt but it's overpriced at $98. I also like the Thomas Mason shirtdress (which is not in stores), but again, $188 for a cotton dress? Does anyone have experience with the dress?
