Yes! I was waiting for this one to get another cashmere LS tee with my last 20% off Thank You code. I used to be one who paid full price for almost everything but with all the rapid price discounting I've been trained to wait for a sale (and stack my code on top).

DeleteThis is somewhat OT - but has anyone gotten holes in their Tippi sweater from last year? I took mine out yesterday for the first time since last Fall and it had 2 rather large holes on the back near the seam but not on the seam. I have gotten holes in my jcrew ts before but never in sweaters. I am curious if its just me, or if I should stay away from their merino now too. I bought a new Tippi a few weeks ago, maybe I should return it.

DeleteA, it sounds like moth holes, especially since you stored the sweater and then when you brought it back out, discovered new holes. Always make sure to wash or dry clean your sweaters before storing them. It is a HUGE pain (I admit, I don't always do it, but I have my sweaters in an airtight chest) but worth it. I use the J.Crew cashmere wash and spray, both of which are lovely and will help keep pests away.
ReplyDeleteThanks JcrewJD - I feared it was moths, I never had this problem before - yuck. I stored it with a bunch of lavender satchels on the top shelf of my closet so I wasn't concerned. My wool pencil skirts (in the same closet) seem fine. Should I do anything now to prevent more damage?

A, yeah, it is disgusting. I hate those darn moths. All you can do is clean your house really thoroughly, make sure all your sweaters and such are washed and dry cleaned, and hope they don't come back. If they do, I think there are pesticides that can be used... But since I cleaned like mad, and started using the spray and copious sachets of cedar/lavender, I haven't had a problem after having a major infestation in 2010.

DeleteCarpet beetles eat only items that are 100% animal fibres, which means that they LOOOOOVE J. Crew merino sweaters.
That's so hard, A - I lost 2 merino sweaters and a cashmere sweater to moths once in college. I've been hanging cedar blocks with my wool jackets/skirts and using cedar spray from The Laundress for the past few years and haven't had any more issues.

ReplyDeleteKL, in my experience up here, re-orders usually go out 2 business days after the return is received, but you may have to add 1 more day since the day the shipment goes out is after they initially log it with UPS. HTH. (And if it's 3 days and you don't get a message, call. Once they had re-processed my order, but the email confirmation didn't go out.)

DeleteI went to a store to try the merino oversized sweater and even if I liked it better than I thought even in a xs (wanted to try a xxs but they didn't have it) I feel like I don't need any of the colors it comes in (would have loved it in camel). In the end I bought two Tippis in basic colors (black and navy) that don't go often on sale.
