J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Leslie (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like both Crewcuts (click here) and the J.Crew Collection (click here) got updated as well.

The latest February catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view for some of us. Hopefully it will be up soon. :)

As for the new arrivals, I am off to go check them out right now. :)

Another nice touch is J.Crew extended their promotion to take 40% off all final sale items (no min) and free shipping (on $100+) with promo code MUSTSHOP. This offer now expires today, Thursday, January 27, 2011.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Oh I'm so envious. I've put a moritorium on my jcrew purchases as it costs me 140 dollars to ship an item. Ugh!

  2. I've just had a look. The silk twill pencil skirt in "modern red" caught my eye, the espadrilles are offered in this color too. Is it a neon red? A pink-red? Not for me but it caught my eye, maybe as the Pop in a sea of neutrals.
The new bag (Lockwood?) has very puffy straps!
Oh no Tabitha that's ridiculous. Did you see anything you had to have anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  3. OH my gosh, Tabitha!! That is a fortune!!

I'll take a look -fingers crossed-

  4. Just cracking up about the denim jumpsuit for 298 dollars! What are they thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  5. not a new arrival but.. anyone have any sizing advice on the hoodie fairground cardigan? i can't decide between a small and a medium, and sadly it is final sale.

    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  6. bah- I was going to comment on the denim jumpsuit too. reallY? also noticed 17" long skirts ;/

  7. I'd like to hear what JCAs think of the shoes video. There's definitely a lot of new stuff to see on the site.

  8. I am LOVING one of the new colors--agate--especially in some of the new jersey dresses. The lyric dress is my favorite. There is normally one color each season that I want to have in every piece offered! This might just be it.

I'm also loving the Maritime dress but fear it'll be too short on me. I was hoping to find the utility jacket that I tried on in-store the other day (#39264), but it's still not online. The one they do have listed (#37901) is similar but not exact. Hmm.

  9. HUUUUUUGE secret restock of sale that's not updated on the sidebar yet. Use google to find "hidden" popbacks. Search "site:jcrew.com XX" but replace XX with what you are looking for.

    ReplyDelete
  10. sale update is in progress now. site is kinda funky but there is restock on there.

    ReplyDelete
  11. never mind... sale is now updated. I got the essie 4-pack of nail polish for $8!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Big mug of coffee... view all... !

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ugh the tortoise belt eluded Mr again! Why do I subject myself??

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anyone try the Carlyle dress and have thoughts to share on fit? Can't get the chat box to pop up and have no idea on measurements.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Haven't had time to look at the new arrivals, was too busy breathlessly searching through final sale. Holy update! Unfortunately, alot of ghost item pages... like the tartan perfect shirt... jeweled wool tank... and other awesome things. Sigh. Hopefully some lucky JCAs snagged those items!!

I finally got the arrow sweater in caramel... been dying for this color after seeing it on so many lovely bloggers! Also the marigold jaquard skirt (again) but this time in an 8 so hopefully I can wear it low. And a pair of the shearing slippers bc they are awesome.

Oh, and the coquette bloomers.... WTF was I thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Love the new colors. I am really liking anything right now in blush or pale pink for early Spring. I have to get the trench vest in dark birch. I think this is a fun item, definitely needs a mardown though from $110... I also love the quorra sandals. I thought the J. Crew Goes to Italy video was fun...nice to see updates for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh my God soooo stressful. I kept adding items and then they said they were sold out when I was checking out. Missed out on some great items, but also did get some great things. Fabulous deals on the cashmere!! Picked up some jean trousers and a short sleeved cashmere that weren't final sale :) Good luck everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I gave in and placed a tiny order (only 3 items, less than $50)! I got two of the tissue sweatshirt tees and the magic wallet from the mens' section. I started off by crazily filling my cart with anything that caught my eye and slowly whittled it down to things I really loved/wanted/knew I'd wear...and then ofcourse, things kept getting snapped out of my cart as well so I figured, what the hell, just going to get these three items and call it a day.

The sale restock is really juicy though, tons of stuff back on sale and with 40% off! oh jcrew you know how to keep being snowed in interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If someone puts an item into their shopping cart, is it unavailable to other shoppers for some period of time? Or is the item only unavailable after the person actually buys the item? I ask because I'm wondering if I should check back later on some items that I want but weren't available in my size when I checked. I should have gotten up at 6am!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Talk about crewzy update this am! Stop the insanity of pop backs and final sale and discounts!!! :)

I got some great things though and got the feb catalog last night there are some really promising items in there IMO! (and still a lot of questionable items too of course :))

    ReplyDelete
  21. love jcrew but they do not do flat sandals well. nor wedges. not all of us can wear 3" heels.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is it me, or is that male model guy from Gossip Girl?

And wait until we see Jen Lyons rock out that ridonkerous denim jumpsuit and then it fly off the racks!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kimberly, Carlyle dress is TTS to slightly short--I am on the borderline between P and R and was happy that I bought an R. Very flattering IMO. Warning: it is very low-cut. If you're wearing it to a conservative office you will have to fill in the neckline with a cami or scarf.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Very irked that none of the new suiting dresses are knee length. Falls above the knee = not appropriate for work. For me, anyway. And the new Bell skirt in super 120s is adorable but again, only 19.5" long makes it way too short. I guess I am going to have to start looking elsewhere for appropriate suiting skirts and dresses, but I'm not happy about it because I only own J.Crew suiting!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Em: I love my Heather Caramel Arrow sweater...I wear it all the time! Hope you enjoy yours.

I didn't bite on any of the popbacks, but I was very tempted! I noticed the Tartan Boy shirt too--did anyone on here snag that one? I also noticed the Moss Tweed Pencil skirt. It's one of my favorites!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks, Hexicon! I've got the Carlyle, Banquette and Caryn hanging out in my cart - just can't decide if any will be winners. Have the Origami Sheath and love the fit, but measurements seem to be all over the place on suiting dresses.

    ReplyDelete
  27. AppGal, you were part of my inspiration for buying it! I loved when you had it on with a turquoise-ish colored top underneath. So pretty. I am SO excited to get it. (If it ships, that is... I've never gotten the dreaded cancellation e-mail so it might be my turn)

The only thing I have to have from the new arrivals... the oxford ballet flats. SO CUTE. Classic with a twist....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Holy freaking update! Lots of ghost items though. ...

Ow. Like, OWWW. Today was a whopper. This has got to be it. I am not proud, and I'm going to make a concerted effort to shove more stuff out of my house/closet by any means necessary. I'm fully expecting that several items won't ship though.

This morning I basically added anything to my cart that I was even CONSIDERING, just to get it in there, and by the end I had 31 items at a pre-sale cost of over $1000 (eeek). So I edited and edited and here's where I ended up:

My flannel Silvie dress arrived yesterday and I am just in LOVE with it. It's light as a feather and I'm planning to wear it year-round. It looks really good on me and I'll be wearing it a lot! So I, um, bought the pink one this morning too. Ooops.

Also bought the cashmere-lined black leather gloves, as I needed gloves anyway. I hope they ship.

Picked up the waffled cashmere cardigan in the Cobblestone color, which I lovelovelove. It cost more than I'd normally spend on a FS item, but when I saw it in the fall/winter catalogs, I loved it so much that I tore out the page and saved it ... so hopefully it ships. Looking forward to pairing it with a russet-y color I've been liking lately. $83.99 after discount.

Got the Juliette silk chiffon dress just to have on hand for future events. I don't get out a lot, but it never fails that when I need to, I can't find any dresses I like at prices I can stomach. So $29.99 for one of my all-time favorite colors, light berry, sounded good to me.

Also finally snagged a woolly ribbed turtleneck in the warm pewter color. I have it in black and light gray and love them!

Hmm, what else... bronzed leopard perfect shirt, one of the few things I wanted when the fall/winter stuff initially dropped. Only like $12 after discount. A pair of 5-inch shorts for $9. Dark brown cord skirt for $17.

And now I shall crawl back under my rock and pray that bonuses are good this year. :P

  29. The oxfordre absolutely to die for soooo cute irl!! I tried them on and found them to be true to size- my normal size 8 in ballet flats!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Such a sucker - woke up at 3am PST to check for updates and because of the "secret" restock - the total number of items did not change when i hit refresh - went back to sleep. Woke up at a more decent hour around 6am and snagged the moonbeam blazer, but missed the highly covet sequin bell skirt. Still happy overall as I own the sequin pencil skirt from a couple years ago which is still wonderful. Never had a sequin blazer though :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. The drapey reve suene tee in warm caramel has eluded me again!! It's not final sale so I'm hoping the xsmall or small will popback in the sale section again.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Urban Outfitters has some really cheap oxford-like-flats, if someone wants the look just for fun (probably not remotely the same quality but then...)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Placed several orders this morning--I get so forgetful shopping in a frenzy!

Does anybody know what the difference between "Released" and "Releasable" is for the order status!?

    ReplyDelete
  34. These days, just because you appeared to have successfully checked out, don't count on the items actually shipping! The warehouse has been acting weirder than usual- I suspect its a computer inventory problem. Anyway, it appears that I got the silk sequin tee in olive moss (17$) and a heather traversa cardi in the shale blue (17$). Did not mind paying 8.50$ to ship, that is, if both items ship.
For new arrivals, hope someone tries and and reviews that Levelette dress. Beautiful, except questionable cleavage baring plunge in the collar!

    ReplyDelete
  35. INTERESTING - at 7 am, the sale section was showing 288 items. But everything I had in my cart Sat (that subsequently sold out) was still there and the system let me complete my order. Now the sale section is stuffed - I guess they were ghost items? Hoping they ship...

    ReplyDelete
  36. tamara--from my experience, I don't believe putting an item in your cart reserves it. I've put items in my cart and had them disappear within seconds, probably because someone else was checking out.

    ReplyDelete
  37. tartan boy shirt was available this morning but only in a size 12 so don't feel bad if you missed it since it was limited sizing!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah!!

It's so great to have a wonderful community like the JCAs to share the great news.

I woke up this AM....opened the website...and thought "everyone will be so excited...." :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. The only item I'm loving completely and totally are the oxford ballet flats. Those might get my rewards $$, which will hopefully show up today. I also like the smaller Timex. Disppointed in the skirts (the red silk one is pretty, but $$). The sale restock sucked me back in, as a number of items I've wanted popped back. Boutonnier blazer and a short icon trench (for $54!!), Marlie striped shell, linen-silk cargos (have in mink and LOVE), pink Lisette tank, gloves, nail polish and jewelry pouch. Very happy, but the madness much stop now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh, and I will add that in my FS frenzy I did not have time to peruse the new arrivals (surprise, surprise). Maybe this weekend ...

    ReplyDelete
  41. mwhaha, and just as I posted my sale scores, I got an email that my Boutonnier blazer was cancelled. Boo.

    ReplyDelete
  42. shopwithm, that stinks about the blazer! Glad I am not the only one who is loving the oxford ballet flats and little else. There are a few other things I like but the prices are absurd so I put them out of my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I placed several (I'm ashamed to say how many) orders over this promo thinking that not everything would ship and I'd just let the crazy inventory system pare down my items for me. EVERYTHING has shipped. Which I guess is good, because now I have lots of lovelies coming my way. But now absolutely no more shopping for me for a long time.

Also, I agree that the denim jumpsuit is hideodorous.

Also, my captcha is "sorchamp," which describes me well today.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I wonder if anyone on the JC staff has ever tried to deal with a jumpsuit in an airplane lav.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I was conservative: A Grey merino turtleneck, Ivory merino dore cardigan,"sweatshirt" tees in Grey and Turquoise, and lipgloss ;>

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tippy, I see releasable when it is something on backorder. I think that means they are still waiting for it, but that when it comes in, it ships. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  47. Scored the tartan perfect shirt in a 4 EARLY this morning when the restock was hidden. The one last thing ive been searching for! Pays to have a snoring DH that wakes me up! Dreading the cancellation email....

    ReplyDelete
  48. Kimberley,

What size Carlyle dress? I may have a navy size 0 NWT. I bought it on ebay and it doesn't fit me and I was going to donate it or put it on the exchange on Sunday.

    Leah

    ReplyDelete
  49. Got the renatta bikini, I LOVE this print and was so excited to see it come back in my size! Hopefully I don't get that dreaded email...

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was very good - only purchased the Stadium-cloth peacoat in golden sunflower. I'm shopped out on the sale items, I scored a lot of great items at great deals in December, there is nothing else I want/need from the sale section! There were a few items that I am really liking from the new rollout, but I'm waiting. We just got 12+ more inches of snow in NY, I am nowhere ready to start wearing spring clothes. Unfortunately months away from that. Plus, I am in full wedding mode, so the majority of my $$$$ is going towards that. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Leah, I *wish* I could do a size 0. I'm more a 6 or 8 kind of girl - and of course by the time I decided to place the order, the Carlyle sold out! Ah well. Thanks for letting me know, though.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Wow. I was just ready to go out and spend a ridiculous amount on a new nice suit but... I got a suit, an arrow, and two boatnecks for a great price. If the suit is not super nice it will definitely carry me through the Feb trial I was worried about. I guess the nice suit is going to have to wait half a year or so. Very pleased! Crossing my fingers that everything ships, if part of the suit doesn't it will be sort of horrible.

Am also waiting for the Ludlow in men's to go on sale entirely, right now only the jacket is on sale and of course my husband's size is sold out. :(

  53. I'm looking for some sizing advice for J. Crew ballet flats. I LOVE the Oxford Ballet Flats, but am not sure which size to order.

I am nearly always a size 6 in heels, but often size up to 6.5 for flats so they don't cut my feet.

The only J. Crew shoes I own are Juliets, which I have in both a 6 (a tiny bit tight when I first put them on, but perfect after a few minutes) and a 6.5 (I have to put inserts in them).

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Allie, I am between an xs and an s and I took an s in the fairground cardigan, so I'd go with the larger of your two sizes. It is really cute.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jennifer, I looooove my Renatta bikini -- I think your chances of it shipping are really good! Marietta, you will love the stadium-cloth peacoat. I just LOVE that it's nice and tapered through the waist. So many coats aren't, which is so unflattering.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks, Amy! The order quickly changed to "Released" and now all of the individual items say "Open". I guess I won't count on anything until I get an email telling me which items have shipped!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Forgot to mention that I'd rather not order two sizes in the Oxford ballet flats since I live in Canada and returns are expensive! Thanks again!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. They really took me off guard with this restock. I was browsing the new arrivals when I noticed the big update (around 8 ET). I put plenty of stuff in my cart (especially from the swim section), then went to give my sick daughter her antibiotics and when I was back everything was gone. In the end I ordered the Renatta tank along with the new maritime dress. I had to overnight ship the order in order to get the tank in tine for my vacation so I should be able to report on the maritime dress tomorrow (got the xs).

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ema: can't wait to hear your report on the Maritime dress! That is on my wishlist too.

  60. The Feb. catalog is just gorgeous. The photography, the layout ... it's very inspirational/aspirational. Love the whole 'j crew weekend' concept and the bit about the Italian-,ade shoes.

Sad to say I'm not as excited by the items themselves. I do plan to stalk the papaya suckered gingham perfect shirt to add to my collection from last year -- papaya is one of my fave JC colors.

I love the new polka-dot swimwear! I can see myself picking up some separates on uber-sale at the end of the season. I need more swimsuits like a hole in the head.

Why is every item page you launch from the catalog view saying Men t the top?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Another Lisette tank, sherpa hoodie, Honey Tweed jacket and the Braidees in provence pink just happened to jump into my shopping bag. I am bad.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I am really hoping my stuff ships - have had good luck so far. Managed to grab a Rosebud Shirt in my size, Drapey Sequin tee, Dream Zip henley, Seth plaid boy shirt (yay) and the traversa tank which I have been stalking in my size forever. I agree with others - I really need this promotion to end! But am glad that everything I've ordered I have tried on IRL so I know it will fit. Whew. Exhausted from overshopping :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Complete restock on the high heel Miller motorcycle boot I was looking for yesterday, yay! Also ordered the horizon stripe pencil skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Lol, Rose, it's funny you say that... the petit jardin mini and cord pencil skirt just somehow snuck into my bag too! Well I couldn't NOT order them after they went to all the trouble of finding me.

    So bad.

Caitlin, re: J.Crew flats. It's a tough call, but I'd go with the 6.
In heels, a 10 usually works but I'm often left wanting a 10.5... but in J.Crew flats a 10 is almost always just right, at least in the flats that are similar in style to the oxfords... (the ones with the elastic around the sides seem to run smaller) so I'd stick with your normal 6.

    ReplyDelete
  65. i love the "next stop: hollywood" slideshow on their website! i could just drool over sam page all day long. he's so dreamy! :)

ooh and im loving all things striped from the new arrivals! thumbs up jcrew!

  67. My online PS just provided me with the measurements of some items I had my eye on in sizes xs and small. In case anyone else was interested:

    Lyric dress: length=34.25" (xs) and 35.25" (s); across the shoulders=9.88" (xs) and 10.25" (s); chest=25.75" (xs) and 27.75" (s); hip=44.5" (xs) and 46.5" (s)

  70. I really like the raglan babydoll tee. I wish it came in more colors! :(

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks Elaine, I know I will love it for exactly that reason (plus the color is TDF!). I am very short, so I can't pull off boxy anything. I love coats that have structure and waist definition. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I find it strange that I LOVELOVELOVE the catalog (my favorite in years!) but aren't crazy about any of the individual pieces. The styling is fantastic. Maybe the pieces will grow on me.

    ReplyDelete
  73. New arrivals:
loved the idea of the Brooke skirt with sequin tee, cami, even the short-sleeved jacket. Event wear… I hope they don't show it later with that delightful JC touch of striped ankle sox.

Loved the striped floral print scarf. Didn't realize how thirsty I am for prints you can see.

Jumpsuit? right up there with the romper. Definitely not travel wear.

    Loved the button-back tee.

As for the vintage patch-art tee, that and the sequin lattice sweater vest solved a great mystery for me: Edie Beale did in fact go to Scout camp, and these are what she made in the Crafts Hut.

  74. Wow, I was *this* close to getting sucked in to the sale again when I saw the huge update. But, then I went over to the new arrivals, and it reminded me of what I said yesterday - I am good on winter clothes and ready for spring! So I'm saving my $ for the spring sale. Love the new colors - the blues and greens are sooo pretty. Yes, it will be months before I can wear any of this stuff, but that means I won't mind waiting till sale time! :)

I loved the Lyric dress AppGal picked in the Agate - doesn't look as lowcut on the model as it does in the product pic, so I'm hoping. I also really love the sailor shorts - soo cute! But again, MONTHS away from wearing those... :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Does anyone know if dream sweaters shrink if you throw them in the wash? I got the FS dream sweater-jacket today and I love the style, but it's quite spacious for a small. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Wow, lots of finds in sale for you all! I am going to pass and save my money for spring items.

Really love the Maritime-stripe Blazer . .I can see myself wearing that ALL the time! Also liked the Oxford Scout Chinos in the Mauve morning color. Also intrigued by the braided wrap belt.

Hope my award card arrives soon! (I'm always a little after you all on the West Coast.)

And I totally laughed out loud at the denim jumpsuit. WTF? Seriously??

    ReplyDelete
  77. Whoa, I skimmed right over that jumpsuit the first time around. Wow. Not sure what else to say about that.

The Thessaly dress also looks really cute, though I'm not sure about the underarm unfinished ruffles - might we be seeing a return of the nude lace tights? The "effortless, borrowed from the boys" look making a foray into grooming practices??

    ReplyDelete
  78. I am so glad I discovered this website! Can't believe I haven't been reading it religiously before!

I just made my very first J.Crew order EVER and am very very excited. I purchased 7 items for under $110US!! WOOHOO! I'm sure the duties will kill me once it arrives but won't think about that right now. Lol.

I posted the items I picked up in my blog: http://awalkinthecloset.blogspot.com/2011/01/joining-j-crew.html

Adding this blog to my favourites. :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. I love the catalog. It's so nice to actually be able to see each individual item without having to do any detective work. I'm still looking through all the new arrivals, but so far I like the Button-up sundress (hope it's longer on me than the model), Herringbone Schoolboy Blazer in "Aged Driftwood", and Stripe Button-back tee.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Lindsay @ A Walk in the Closet - I choose the Canada Post delivery option and about 4 out of 5 orders are duty free -- only tax collected, usually around or less than $20. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  81. ^ Thanks Rose! That's what I picked.

I can't believe I held off for so long. If you look at the J.Crew shipping FAQs, it states that shipping to Canada is UPS Ground. That is like a whole-room full of red flags for me!! Lol.

If only I had known earlier, I could've donated my paychecks to JCrew ages ago! ;)

  82. Kimberly,

I wouldn't worry about not getting the dress. I order almost all suiting dresses and the Carlyle is my least favorite by far. It runs smaller than the others and it is low-cut so it requires a cami but the shoulder/neck opening is wide so you can see the cami straps on the shoulder. Save money for other dresses!

  83. I visited the store today and really like the striped blazer and that Popsicle pink dress. Wonder if it's on Ebay yet or when it is going on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Kate, in my opinion the best way to shrink a wool sweater is to hand wash in cool water, then use the dryer to do the shrinking. Check VERY frequently! If you throw it in the washing machine you have zero control. I am a notorious dryer shrinker. :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Kate: I washed several of my Cambridge cable sweaters (which is the Dream material) in COLD on delicate cycle with Woolite detergent. I laid them flat to dry. They did shrink a little bit (unfortunately...I didn't want them to!), and the delicate + flat dry made it so piling didn't happen. Good luck!

  86. FFM:
Herringbone blazer is adorable. BUT.... My usual Crew jacket (2) had skiiny arm syndrome (I do work out but my arms are not huge) and when I sized up... too boxy.. :( Hope it works for you... It is very nice.

  87. This a response I got from an online personal shopper regarding why items/order get cancelled after you place an order:

I apologize for all your order frustration recently. I’m not 100% sure why your orders would keep cancelling on you, but here’s my guess: our inventory isn’t real-time so it’s hard to keep it updated to-the-minute. When we may only have 1 or 2 of any given item, that number may not have been updated when they’re really gone, hence a cancelled order.

What was weird was that first I got an email saying one of the items on my order “might” get cancelled and sure enough, a day later I got the formal cancellation email, along with an offer to locate the cancelled item for me (which was nice I guess). And this was after having two other orders get cancelled, all within the same month. So annoying! Now one of my orders from this recent promo has been on released status since the 21st, that’s almost a week! I can almost smell the dreaded email coming…

  88. milljcrew: Thanks for the information on the Herringbone blazer. So sad to hear that it has skinny arm syndrome...will probably be a problem for me on fit, as well. I caught the Cavalry Linen Twill blazer on popback recently, so they are probably too similar to even warrant having both anyways. I do, however, hope the white blazer from the Look book doesn't have the same issue. (It's due out in June and also comes in Navy.) It is on my wishlist along with the Short-sleeve selvedge chambray shirt (available in May). :)

  89. Using the dryer for shrinking a sweater will not cause pilling. I have shrunk many sweaters using the dryer method.

  91. I tried the Herringbone schoolboy blazer in aged drift wood a few days ago, and was instantly smitten. I found it fitting exactly the same as the other schoolboys, TTS. I didn't check the label, but it seems it to be a blended linen jacket. It has more structure than a normal linen jacket.

Not much caught my eye, but the online rollout looks promising. At this point I can't justify a single additional purchase until the spring line is on clearance.

  92. Tamara and AppGal, thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try and keep my fingers crossed :)

  93. Well, the double serge stripe popped back again in the 12, so I grabbed it. My PS has graciously noted that I am allowed to return the 14 as it had been on FS too. I'm psyched I could get that skirt in my true size. I know it's going to fit much better. It's been a saga w/this skirt, lol! I also grabbed a tissue tee and the slouchy cashmere sweater. This was my first MUSTSHOP order, so I think I was pretty restrained.

  94. FFM - re: the herringbone boy blazer I tried it on in store and the material against a bare arm was itchy/poking. Shame because it was cute - just won't work for me with having to wear a long sleeve thicker shirt or sweater underneath. I would have like to wear it on top of a summery tank.

  95. Has anyone seen / tried on the Gloverall toggle coat? I'm wondering if it's more of a nice lemon vs. construction worker florescent yellow. And, is the conversion to Euro sizing TTS? I'm definitely a Euro 36 but everything else runs so big I'm afraid it will be huge. Unfortunately, it's FS so I'm leaning towards not risking it...

  96. jcbellemarie: Itchiness is not good at all...such a shame to hear the blazer has such issues. Do you remember if the sleeves were lined?

  97. Just got my Miller short boot. Cute! I like that the toe box is pointy-ish like a dress shoe. They seem to run a tad big and I would have liked to have tried a 7 on before committing. Also the bottom of the shoe is completely fake and leaves black skid marks on the kitchen floor-yuk. Tis a shame.

  98. I am looking for the jeweled jardin jacket in a size 0. I know it says catalog/jcrew.com only, but I think some of you have seen it in stores. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

  99. The Swirling Dots Dress is really cute, too. I didn't notice it on the website earlier today.

  100. The bow looks a bit odd in the side shot, but it may be possible to redo or arrange it to look more flattering.

  102. I've been busy today and only got a little while to go through new arrivals this a.m. Either it's just so refreshing to see new items or I LOVE this rollout.

I could not wait and had to order the Maritime Dress (LOVE the blue!!) and the Selina leather sandals.

Some of the knit dresses caught my eye too. I will have to sit and peruse the site for a few hours tonight while the rest of the house sleeps...

  104. IRL: Please let us know how the Maritime dress works out for you! Love it!

  105. Pathos, did you get the Miller boots with the heel or the flat ones? If you have the ones with the heel, are they very wide around the calf?

  106. I have no self control... Of course I had to place another order with some of the new items. I ended up with two of the stripe button-back tops, cotton bell skirt, the maritime dress and a few other things that you can check out on my blog. I need to get this little spending spree under control, because it is getting quite ridiculous! Cannot wait for all of these things to come though!

  107. Great to see some new items that will help feed my fleece addiction. I will definitely be going for the Sun-faded fleece crewneck sweatshirt
$49.50 item 26464 in washed light blue.

Speaking of sun-faded, there maybe an oxford in order too. While there's snow on the ground (and sadly more coming soon) it's great to plan for summer; sun-faded oxford worn untucked with shorts and Sperry deck shoes. Am I a walking J.Crew ad or what?

  108. FFM, I think they might have been lined, which is why I was surprised that it irritated my skin so much. I just could not keep it on even to snap a photo for my blog, it was that uncomfortable without long sleeves. Maybe I will try again my next visit, because it is so cute, but if they are all like that then I'm afraid is a no-go even if it gets to rock bottom prices. It's just not practical or aesthetically pleasing to have to wear thick layers underneath!

  109. I was good and only ordered the one item I really wanted, the Electra Vest, with the 40% and newly marked down as of this morning. I had a zillion things in and out of my cart all morning, both new arrivals and old popbacks, but restrained myself!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Kris-I have the flat Miller boots BUT the boot seems wide-ish around the ankle and calf on these, and you can cinch with the belt to get it tighter. This also gives it a gathered look, which I quite like. **they are not Frye quality, I might add, but I am going to keep them for $100/boot.

  111. My first shipment from this promo just arrived, and I am more than pleased. I got the Matte Jersey Curator Pant, which I love. I'm glad I sized down, because even so, they're still roomy. I also made my first J. Crew cashmere purchase, the keyhole sweater in heather orchid. It's so pretty! They shipped the wrong size for one of my items, which is fine because I didn't want it anyway. Now I can return it (it was FS). Can't wait for the rest of my stuff!

  112. Stopped in my b&m today and they had jelly flats in several colors. Do not see them online. They would be very cute for a rainy spring/summer day. Lots of cute new arrivals that I really want!

Also OT...went into gap today and they had the patent city flats on sale with an addt'l 50% off making them $10 each!

    ReplyDelete
  113. OK, I saw some of these new arrivals, but not all, last Thursday I swear. Was starting to question my own sanity over this but I ordered the denim high-heel oxfords and now they are showing all sold out. Crazy.

No more sale orders for me. I have everything I wanted from F/W 2010 and am looking forward to spring now. Was really good planning my wardrobe and only ordered multiples of the Trouper and Waverly pants, pencil skirts, Jackie sweaters, perfect-fit cardis and tissue turtlenecks this year. These are all basics so that totally fit my wardrobe plan. Glad to see others are getting some great deals.

  114. Caitlin, here's my 2 cents on JC flats. I have a wide foot, so I have to size up and put a cushion on the feel.

I am interested in stripe button back tee, the sequin-stripe tee, horizon stripe pencil skirt (hmm, do I see a theme? :D), jackie in bavarian blue, and silk henley tunic. I have been looking for a cute comfy white top and I'm wondering if the retro shell will be that top? Hope my b&m has it so I can try it on. And, why does the lyric dress look like it's cut down to the navel on the mannequin? I'm hoping it's not that low, since like App Gal, I like the agate color.

  116. I'm eyeing the Velvet Ruby Jacket for my business casual office...is this going to look too sloppy?

Also, any sizing advice? I wear a 6P in the Super 120s 2 button blazer of this season, but I think they've made the sizing smaller because I have one from 2008 that's 4P. I have the Fallyn Jacket in size 2, although it just fits.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Also, if it helps, I have last years velvet blazer with the shawl collar in a size 2.

  118. Any predictions for tomorrow? Massive restock again but without a promo? Restock plus extension of 40% promo? New promo? I think their next promo code should be: IMANADDICT.

  119. I still haven't gotten the newest catalog--ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  120. @ Tamara, lol lol lol, agree! I felt seriously in need of an intervention as I typed the letters M-U-S-T-S-H-O-P. But still the order went through (tweed morceau jacket), let's hope it ships.

  121. Kay,

Ruby jacket runs big. Order a size down from your normal JCrew size.

I tried two sizes and a couple of colors before final sale. I returned them all. The smaller size fit but too unstructured for me. I knew I would wear my Bellas and Edens more.

Glad I tried before final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Kay,

PS. I wear a 10 in my Edens. The Ruby 10 was HUGE. The 8 fit fine but did not like the style; glad I tried it though...

  123. Any thoughts on the Braidee Platform heels? size, fit and how they look IRL.. They are on sale for 175 plus 40% off. Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  124. Thanks, Genny! I think I will just avoid possibly getting stuck with it :)

  125. Pathos, thanks! I ordered the heeled version today on a popback, I agree, I can make it work for that price.

  126. I cannot believe I'm actually thinking of getting up early to check the J Crew web site. I have checked in the mornings before but never gotten up early to do it. Is this a bad sign? Should I make an appointment to see a psychiatrist? Should I just leave my computer turned on, logged on, and sitting on the J Crew web site to make it easier for myself?

dinster, I think you just came up with the next promo code: INTERVENTION :)

  127. Received from JC this week:
1 card with "special" phone number
    1 nice rewards card
    4 boxes merch
    3 receipts for returns
    1 whopping bill
    No catalog
    No look book
    1 headache

Am I trying to tell myself something? Probably.

    ReplyDelete
  128. No more 40% off, it's still FS. Factory's back up, though.

Also, I've never noticed before, but under Final Sale, it says, "Shopping tip: Items placed in your cart are not guaranteed until checkout is complete." Is that new? They need to also mention that they're not guaranteed after checkout either.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I didn't have chance to check out everything but I saw the Italy Shoe video. So I know why JC shoes are shaped the way they are. They are meant to fit Jenna Lyons and Marissa Webb. Narrow and long with very short straps to fit they skinny ankles. But hey, how many of us have this kind of feet/legs?

  132. If anyone is interested in a different version of the maritime dress, check out LandsEnd Canvas' Women's Boatneck Sailor Dress. It is mostly ivory with smaller navy stripes, but similiar shape -- without the side zips along the bottom edges.

(Sorry if this isn't the right place to post news about competitors' items.)

  133. I'm 'feeling' the Bowery slim fit pants in khaki and the new raw steel. These pants would look great with my blazer. Love to get them at the start of spring. Hopefully the new 'crew store in Toronto would open on or before this April, if not will just get them online.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I just purchased the lace-up hoodie....hopefully it's decent material...i got a small after speaking with a PS online for a bit....=) apparently it's not in stores up here yet (seattle). boooo....but i love their hoodies...always work well to dress down my slacks for work...

  135. I was unimpressed with the catalog. J Crew has undergone such a transformation in making itself fashion-forward, but this catalog was a step back. I feel like I'm looking at a LL Bean or Land's End catalog, not J Crew.

While on the one hand it's nice to see outfits people would actually wear (no crazy layering of clashing prints), I used to like the fact that the catalog was like thumbing through a fashion magazine photo spread.
