Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Hi ladies.
So I bought the one sweater I was interested in with the new arrivals: COLLECTION CASHMERE-BLEND FAIR ISLE SWEATER (E3242) to check out. I got it this weekend and it's really nice but way too big in my usual size small. It totally sold out already! So if anyone got an XS that they're planning on returning, let me know. I'd love it if you could have the store hold it for me and I'll call them for a charge send.

    1. I was searching for that sweater online, but couldn't find it, then I thought, yup it's sold out, and the matching skirt. Try bookmarking that item # on your phone. And just be relentless with checking often. You never know it might popback in your size.

They have this sweater on hold for me in a small. They just might have your x-small.
      HTH!

  2. I stopped in with my rewards card to try on a few coats. Having trouble deciding - J. Crew has always done coats well and this year there are some gorgeous ones!

Didn't buy anything. I did spend some $ on the Aran Crafts website. 20% off promo and I am loving Irish Aran knits lately - trying to stick to my Buy-Better-Buy-Less strategy. They have some beautiful cashmere-merino blends and ship from Ireland in a week! If they can do it, why must I wait 2 weeks for J. crew?

    1. I have two Aran Crafts sweaters I bought last year - love them! 100% wool, no issues with fit or quality (unlike J Crew it seems.).

    2. How do you clean your Aran sweaters? I washed mine in the machine and laid flat. Took 2.5 wks to dry. Should I be dry cleaning them, which I think the care instructions say (anyway)?

    3. Dry Cleaning is best for wool fibers. Wool will shrink/distort (even with laying flat to dry) and fibers will pill faster with water. However, if you have food/beverage based stains, cleaning with water makes sense. HTH!

    4. Gigi I have dry cleaned the one I have because I was afraid of shrinkage. I'm wondering how Dryel would work?

  3. No trip to the store for me again this weekend....hopefully before the year is out I'll be able to make a road trip to visit one. Funny thing is, I was looking at the store locator on the J.Crew website, thinking that the one in Washington state is closest to me, but actually the one in Calgary is, followed by Boise, ID. Who knew? Still, I'd probably make the trek over to Washington, since there is also a Madewell and Anthropologie there. I am still, however, contemplating a purchase online before the current promotion ends, although I'm practically kicking myself for not snatching up the peacoat in navy the other day when they made the pricing error.

There are a few items on sale (at J.Crew & Madewell) that I already own, which made it onto the list of my favorite things. Stop by and check it out if you're interested: Monday Musings...Playing Favorites. :)

    3. That is definitely something to take into consideration, Unknown. Thanks! The drive up there is much prettier than going across Washington, too. :)

  4. Btw, has anyone seen or tried on the Open Cardigan Sweater? The reviews on the website are good, although in one they mention pilling under the arms, so I'm leery that it will become a hot mess in no time. If you've seen them in the stores, are they looking shopworn, or holding up well? Are they soft, itchy, TTS, worth the $ with the extra % off? TIA for any info! :)

    1. Hi Melissa - I saw the black open cardigan in store a few weeks ago (it must've been rolled out to stores before online) and it looked a little raggedy and like it had attracted lint from other items in the store. I also worry about the "hot mess" potential on this one (both acrylic and alpaca can be tough in a blend), but other colors might look better.

    2. I also saw in store....I only really remember it was not special enough to try on. very similar to these types of long cardis that are available everywhere for half of J Crews. HTH

    3. Thank you silver_lining and Unknown. I think I'll wait it out, and try to get one on supersale. Otherwise I'll just try Nordstrom or possibly even Target for something similar, but less spendy.

    4. I saw it in a store and while the fabric looked okay, I didn't take a really close look because it was ENORMOUS. The XS looked absurdly huge and not just in an oversized way. The width of the back of the XS I picked up looked more like an XL.

    5. Thanks for the sizing info, Blakemdjohns!

  5. On a different topic, I just got an invite to a VIP event @ Madewell. This is for the SF store. The store will be open late on November 22 from 7-9pm, and everything is 25% off.

    1. Just read the fine print -- it's 25% off the store except the offer is not valid on leather jackets, shearling jackets, select cashmere items, the Transport Tote (styles 53228, B2427 and B6946) and all third-party branded merchandise.

    2. Are you going, Mel? I live in SF, too. Not sure if I'm going...there's a couple things I like and the two-a jacket and plaid shirt are third-party items (Penfield).

    3. JSR, I'm on the fence. A lot of the stuff I want is third-party branded or online only. I'm going to stop by and ask whether they'll apply the discount to online items. If so, I'm in.

  6. I went to Madewell over the weekend, to deal with the aftermath of the Flared Denim Disaster (refunds and such; see my IG for more details). They were running 30 % off sale in store and sale prices were lower than online. It seems to me that the JCrew enterprise will try and continue the price games with whichever brand is the flavor of the month. RIght now it's madewell and the pricing inconsistencies are on full force. The popular coats were hanging in store. They're generally oversized. They also had 25% off shoes and the Sloan jumpsuit was already on sale in store. HTH. Maqsadshop

    1. I had a similar experience at Madewell which makes me always check online prices when in store. They had the Mini Glasglow bag (Dark Cabernet) $148 with 25% off. But online it was on sale for $128 with 20% off. I know it is only $10 or so but made me decide not to get it since maybe it will be cheaper soon either in store or online. The black is already marked down to $99.99.

    That is all.
