J.Crew has a nice update to their Sale (click here to shop online) section online this morning. Lots of merchandise (1500+ for Women and 650+ for Men). There are quite a few new items that made it to sale too.

I am happy to see this promotion back. I am also pleased to see that brick & mortar stores will still be offering the same 40% off sale promotion. (I was wondering if they would reduce it to 30% in stores too.)

However, things are just not moving as quickly as they should with an additional percent off sale. J.Crew needs to move more items in the 50% off section in order to move merchandise lounging around on sale. At this point, last year's swimsuits have come full circle in the sale section (as in, in-season again!).

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

  1. I did bite on some non final sales items: pumps (double strap ones) and a lace dress and the line green dress....my local BM had 40% off yesterday so am guessing they all go to 30% today?

    1. Doodle Daschund - I'm not seeing a FB promo on J Crew or J Crew Factory page at the moment.

    2. I have it. I had to "redeem" it and then they sent me an email, but try the code FACEBOOK25.

    3. It just came up on my FB feed. In order for the code to work, I had to click through the link to the JC website from FB. I bit on the Matelasse dress, which has been fully stocked from yesterday, with the 25% off, plus some additional 30% non-final sale swimwear. Nice code.

  3. Has anyone seen the Nora perforated flats in 8.5 in gold or black in stores? In my store they were $99 with 40% off - sadly they didn't have my size. I don't know why they're full price online.

    1. Liz, if you are in a store and they don't have your size, my experience has always been that ha SA will call and order your size online, will tell the online rep the instore price, and that price will be honored. You may or may not have to pay shipping; usually they will waive it, but I've heard that sometimes they don't.

    2. Liz - I saw the gold perforated Noras yesterday. Email me for the info. Yes, size 8.5.

  4. The Collection cashmere stained-glass sweater, item 08152, is now $167.99.99 after the 30% off. I'm wondering if I should wait. It used to be $319.99 but the price dropped to $239.99 one or two weeks ago.

  5. Nothing for me - I still find the sale section to be totally unfriendly to navigate. In case you're reading, JC:

    1. Every time I advance to the next page, the items load in the "middle" so I have to scroll back up to the top to see all of the items on a particular page. After doing this once or twice, I just give up.

    2. If I'm in a particular section (like "girls"), under Category should show the items for girls, not everything. Every time I'm in the crewcuts section and want to drill down into a category, I end up in the women's section because that's the first one that pops up. I already chose the section I wanted - just give me the items for that section.

    3. If I look at an item and then click "Return to Sale", it always takes me back to the top of the page, forcing me to scroll back to where I was.

Feel free to add any more, JCA's... since we're the ones doing the user testing! ; )

    1. I HATE that it navigates to the middle when opening up the next page of sale. That is so annoying. I only use the Quick Look option anymore when perusing the sale section. It's tedious to have to page back & forth otherwise.

    2. Add me to the list of ppl who loathe the way the pages load.... Ugh.

  6. Bit the bullet on the side panel merino v-neck in black - extra 50% brought it down to $28 or so. Also ordered a pair of Andies in the dark grey - they came to $49 with the 30% off.

I posted on Instagram earlier - the Clare cardigan over on the Factory site is on sale for $20 for all colors. I have never seen it that low without some kind of additional promo before!

  7. Hooded basket-weave jacket item 09619

it says oversized fit. i'm usually a size 4 and sometimes go either way with XS/S. any suggestions on sizing for this?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Miss JR - IMO, go for XS in it. I wear 4 or 6 and the S felt big. Click here for the review. I would get the XS or S. However, I don't have a need for thick layers, so the slightly tighter sleeves of the XS would be fine for me. Something to keep in mind. HTH :)

    2. I'm the same size (classic schoolboy size 2, but otherwise usually a 4) and have it in a small. I don't think I could have sized down - shoulders would be too tight. Gigi reviewed it.

    3. injanuity - Ford! We're posting at the same time ;)

    4. Hi g! Lol. I agree with you that this is a good playground jacket. Super casual. Big pockets - perfect for snacks and cell phone. The color of mine is a lot more saturated than the one you reviewed. JCrew is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get. ;)

    5. I'm a S, sz. 4 in JC tops for the most part and I got the Hooded Basket Weave jacket in sz. S and think it fits pretty good. *Maybe* I could've gone w/a sz. XS, but where I live, I'd mostly be layering under that jacket, so sz. S works for me. It's super cute!

  8. Thanks for the mention, Alexis :)

I ordered the drapey crepe tank (review) & glad I acted quickly because the ivory is sold out in my size.

The schoolboy blazer in black & in navy are crazy good bargains. $128 + 30%. I have size 8P. Review here of the grey flannel color in sz 6 & measurements.

A lil' crazier is the classic navy schoolboy, which is $99.99 + 30% off. I have 6P in that.

I'll be creating a new markdown list later. In the meantime, there are many links to reviews in my last Sale Irl Pic Guide.

  10. I've got a question about the t-shirts if someone could help me I'd really appreciate it!

I've got a couple plain t shirts from J Crew that I absolutely love. They aren't the "vintage" style tee (which is much stretchier), they're stiffer and don't stretch out as much, and kind of have a smooth surface if that makes any sense. Does anyone know what style t shirt this is? I don't know if it's a tissue tee, and it doesn't say on the shirt what style it is.

Thanks in advance for anyone that helps!

    1. Greetings Grace - You may be talking about JC's "Perfect Fit" knits. I have several of these items in various styles. I love the Ballet Button Tee (so flattering) and the Mixed Tape Cardigan which I can't wait to wear this summer. I used the crewneck tees as layers under the oversize Boyfriend Sweaters this winter. These tees are definitely more structured than the vintage cotton tees, tissue tees, or linen tees. Also, JC is not kidding with the "slim fit" description. I am usually a size Small / 4 (sometimes a 2) in JC tops, and I definitely size up to a Medium in these. I think these are well-made basics, and like the Tippis and Painter Tees, JC seems to come out with some new colors each season. Jennifer

    2. Grace Chen, you may be able to search for an style # on the tag with the washing instructions. Then enter that five digit # on the jcrew site to search and identify it. If that doesn't work google search: jcrew 12345 for example and it will usually come up with a link and description. That way you will know exactly what style you like and can go on the hunt for more! HTH

    4. Thanks JenniferD and Shopping Celle! I love wearing these tees for absolutely everything because I think they'e the perfect basic for me and definitely want more colors as spring and summer roll in. I'll also take a look at the style #, didn't know you could do that! :)

    5. I love the Perfect-fit tees, too, especially
Perfect-fit scoopneck tee which is no longer for sale. I think I literally have twenty of these, maybe more. They hold their shape and wash/dry really well. The ballet button tee is kind of like the scoopneck but I prefer the scoopneck -- I think the fabric is thicker.

    6. So I looked up the style number (71383) and turns out its the J Crew Factory Layering Tee, and out of stock :( Do any of you know what the regular J Crew equivalent of this is?

    7. Hi Grace - it looks a lot like the retail perfect-fit tee to me. Gigi reviewed the factory tee here so other JCA's may want to weigh in.

    8. Thanks silver_lining for your help! I'll definitely look into the perfect fit tee.

  11. I stocked up on andie chinos!! I've been waiting for a promo like this where I could get them ~50% off. Also got the drapey crepe tank, thanks for the review gigi.

I should've posted this in reviews, but during the last promotion I got the aggie ankle boots (item 04567) and I love them. They are really comfy and cute and are under $100 with the promo! I'm having a hard time resisting ordering them in chester brown, too.

    1. I've been interested to try a pair of the andies. I'm curious about sizing in the andie -- do you take the same size in the andie as the campbell and/or cafe capri? TIA

      Delete
    2. The Andie chinos are probably TTS but they have no stretch and I found that the fit kind of varied pair to pair in the same size. I'd buy same size as Campbell but a size bigger than my Cafe Capri size. If anything I think they run a smidge small, but that may just be the slimmer cut/no stretch.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Cate, they run a bit small prbably due to that they have not stretch.
They vary even in the same size when i tried them on in different stores.

      Delete
    4. yes they are definitely a slim fit, but I didn't feel the need to go up a size. If you're in between then you may want to try the larger size.

  12. I couldn't resist the non-final sale either! Ordered waaayyyy too much, but with free shipping ($5 to return), I'm trying styles that I hope will keep getting marked down a bit for ordering later. That way, even on final sale, I'll know my size! Things are staying in sale section for so long, and I live so far from a store, that this will be my "dressing room at home" box! I've even ordered multiple sizes of things. Does anyone else do this?

  15. Does anyone have the collection t-shirt with the jewels all over it? It comes in navy and white...I'm wondering how much of a pain it is to launder etc. I keep telling myself I don't need it, but I can't quit thinking about it!

    1. I don't have it, but the website says "hand wash". I've seen a few in the stores with a couple of the jewels already becoming unraveled.

    2. HollDoll129 - In case you didn't see, I reviewed the jeweled collection tee in this post. I assume that's the one you're talking about. Thumbsup, but not practical for me, personally. Not sure if that'll help. FWIW the jeweled seemed very, very secure.

    3. I just got it today and it does say "hand wash" and "don't iron on embellishments (doh!). Initially I was more drawn to the navy but it felt a bit evening-y and dark for the season so I went with the cream one. I could have sized down but I prefer it a bit slouchy. Will post Instapic.
