JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

    1. Just bought the last pair of Callie sandals in my size -it was a popback- and got the above discount at the 30 percent off. So regular 278 down to 139. I got the blue as I had been watching it for some time. Hope that was a good color choice?!

    2. Any idea if they'll price match a sale item that's not on sale in store and give the B&M 40% off for sale items? I've been jonesing for those ankle zip striped jeans and noticed them go on sale online but not in store!

  2. Hi
Has anyone tried the sleeveless beach tunic a2223?
I like the idea of it as a light top with a cami maybe loosely/partly tucked as a casual top for hot summer days. The model is wearing with shorts but the description is throwing me off a little. Would love any thoughts and opinions/experience. I have not seen it IRL. As usual I as not sure which colour. White May be a little too gauzy and see through but I like white. Was maybe torn between the navy or black. Would love an opinion or two. Thanks :-)

  3. A big thank you to Silver_lining for helping me style the chambray capris. I wore one of the combos yesterday - pairing the chambray capris with a simple navy sweater got a lot of compliments. Thank you!!!

    1. Thanks, savvy shopper - I'm glad to hear it. In my mind you can't ever go wrong with a navy sweater. : )

  4. Kind of unrelated question - how do the Andies run in comparison to the Minnies or the Cafe Capris? I have lost a bit of weight recently & the size 8 Minnies I owned are now too big, as well as my size 8 Cafe Capris. Since the Andies are currently on promo I was thinking about checking them out but our closest store is 2 hours away... Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Taylor, I wear Minnie in size 4 and I found Andies size 4 to be too tight for me. And I think Andies are supposed to fit a little looser than Minnie. I haven't tried on size 6 though, so not sure how they will fit.

    2. I think they run a little smaller,so you could stay in your normal size if you lost weight.

    3. Forgot to say,i tried them a lot of times and often found they vary in the same size.

    5. Hi Taylor - I find the Andie to be a tight fit. I am usually a size 6 in JC pants (gone down to a 4 in the Minnie full-length bi-stretch wool, up to an 8 in the Stretch Herringbone pants from last fall). I only own one pair of Andies and they are an 8. A little big in the waist, but going down to a 6 would have been to tight in the legs (I don't have big legs). You may just need to order a couple different sizes (NOT on final sale) to see what works for you.

    6. Thanks Jennifer. I ordered the 8 - I'm now a solid 6 in the twill Minnies so I *hope* they fit! If not I'll be in Atlanta next month so I can exchange them then.

I am looking for a great white blazer to pair with dresses, any recommendations?

    1. One option is the Schoolboy in linen but I know linen can be a tricky fabric. I like Schoolboys with dresses because of their shorter length. I personally think shorter blazers look better with dresses. I bought a cropped open white blazer from Loft that I plan to wear with dresses this spring and summer. Madewell had a great classic linen/ cotton blend white blazer at one point. They may reissue it or something similar this spring for the summer. I agree it's hard to find a perfect white blazer, particularly if you are looking for non linen. I have been looking for years and have yet to find the "one". The few I've seen that hit all marks have been crazy expensive high end designer labels.

    2. Thanks 312JCgirl. Yes, it's very hard to find the perfect one but I do agree with you that cropped open white blazers work best for dresses. I'll look at Loft and will be on watch for Madewell; the linen schoolboy is just too long for what am looking for

  6. Greetings ebelandi - I bought the J.Crew Thompson Blazer in Stretch Cotton (A0361) in Vanilla White to pair with the Bristol Trousers, Campbell Capris, and eventually, the Pencil Skirt in Stretch Cotton. A less "suity" option is the Puff Sleeve Blazer in Stretchy Cotton (A2107), which also comes in Vanilla White. The Thompson Blazer is more my style, so no puff sleeves for me, but it really seems cute. Reviews indicate a love/hate relationship with puffy sleeves though.
