Still On: 30% Off Final Sale at J.Crew

Just a reminder that J.Crew is offering customers to take an additional 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code GOODNEWS. This promotion expires tomorrow.

From the comments, it sounds like most JCAs are taking full advantage of this promotion. (I know I have been waiting for an offer like this to come around.) Especially with the additional markdown of (relatively) new arrivals.

Will you be checking out the Final Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. I certainly did! Butterfly blouses and liberty blazers= yum!!
Anyone know if the sterling skirt was among the additional reductions today?

  2. I got the tortoise and brass link necklace (love), square pave link bracelet (love) and Coraline patent flats in 5.5 (too long, toe cleavage). I'm hoping to make it into a store tomorrow. I also purchased some jewelry over the weekend at a factory store. The prices were too good to pass up with % off and the 25% stacked on top.

  3. I also got the tortoise and brass link necklace. The necklace is well made with a nice weight, but for me, the brass was too prominent -- I was looking more for a tortoise necklace -- so I returned it.

I also picked up the Liberty June's Meadow toothpicks (down from $150 to $75 after discount) and perfect shirt (down from $150 to $70), and in the stores, the Liberty June's Meadow pocket mirror is marked down to $15, before the additional 30%.

Before the 30% off started, I was so excited to see the Rosie dress in medallion paisley available online, which had been sold out in my sizes (2, 4) for some time. It was marked down from roughly $200 to $140, and that was a good enough price for me. I ordered both the 2 and 4, and very disappointingly, neither worked. The print is lovely. So pretty! But truthfully, I didn't even bother trying on the 4 -- when I tried on the 2, the silk was fine, but the poly lining was SO static-y that it was just one sticky crinkly mess. It's also a fairly thin silk -- I love shirtdresses and that was what I was hoping for, but because the silk is so thin, it doesn't wear that way. Like I said though, gorgeous print with a tory burch vibe.

Oh, I also got the mini bag (26524) in rose dust at my B&M before the 30% started, for $70. Also a good enough price for me to buy w/o being annoyed about missing the promo. It's a great warm neutral; highly recommend!

  4. I did take advantage of the extra 30% off to pick up another swimsuit. I'm also contemplating the Gilded Brocade top and Liberty perfect shirt in June's Meadow floral that were both marked down yesterday. Maybe the Boy shirt in stripe linen that is now on promo, too. I was hoping for another big update this morning, but it appears as if it was just a really small one today.

Also, lots of new promo-priced items and markdowns yesterday. The updated lists for both the women and men are here on my blog.

    1. FFM- I did not look closely, but noted from a distance that the gilded brocade top on the sale rack at my B&M seemed very frayed. It might be quite delicate.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for letting me know, KnitYarns. It does look to be rather delicate online. What did you think of the colors? Were they extra bright IRL?

      Delete
    3. I have the gilded brocade top and absolutely love it!! I don't find it to be frayed or any more delicate than a silk blouse. The gold is the more prominent color and the turquoise is more of a muted/pastel color. I think it's a fabulous blouse and a steal with it being on sale + additional 30% off. HTH!

    4. Thanks Victoria! What about sizing? Is it TTS, or did you size up/down?

  5. I'm dying to get into my b&m, but sadly don't think I'm going to make it. :-( I really need to try things on. I'm not totally sure what my correct sizing is these days and I will NOT get stuck w/FS.

  6. After the huge update and promo yesterday I knew there would not be much of one this a.m. Probably done with big updates as sale ends tomorrow.

  7. I have been eyeing the A line dress since it came out, but as I have never tried it on, I can't be sure my usual size will work. Darn final sale!

  8. How does the Liberty perfect shirt in June's meadow floral fit--TTS compared to other Liberty shirts or to the regular perfect shirts? I was happy with the ivory tartan and blackwatch plaid perfect shirts from this winter, but the Liberty shirts are cut with more room at the bust, which doesn't work with my straight figure and 32A bust.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They aren't cut that way for my 36 A bust. I have to order up. My usual size was so tight in the Liberty shirts this year.

    2. Hmm! I haven't actually tried on the Liberty shirts, I'm just going off the online chat's measurements for the leo scarlet shirt vs. the ivory tartan shirt that I own.

  9. The liberty perfect shirt in june's meadow floral fits like the other liberty shirts. its pretty. i posted some comparison pics and whatnot here. i didnt post pics of the actual june's meadow print because they were blurry, but i can send them to you if you want

  10. Has anyone seen the Copley Saddlebag (the small version, not the Grand one) in Toffee as an early morning popback? I spotted the red color on Monday, but haven't seen the toffee color. I seem to be missing out on the updated stock... maybe I need to get up a little earlier! (Though today they updated around 6:00 a.m. central time.)

    1. Also, some of the retail only necklaces are now $24.99. I.e., the long necklace w/rectangular tortoise links & the gold shaky (mini) lockets necklace (pic here).

The crysal and cabachon necklace is available online at $39.99 vs $24.99 in-store in black.

  12. Sorry to be off topic but could someone share their experience with Madewell denim or pants? Do they hold up well? Do they stretch out a whole lot? Thinking about trying them....thanks!

    1. Hi cuckoo! I have a couple of pairs and they hold up very well. On top of everything, they have a free shipping/free returns guarantee (double-check when ordering) if they do not fit you properly. They haven't stretched out for me.

    2. I only have one pair of madewell jeans (the high-rise) but I think the quality is very good. They feel very sturdy. I have worn mine about 2 dozen times, washed cold and hand dried a few times, and they look brand new. I took my smaller size (as in slightly difficult to get into) and they molded to my body but I didn't find them to stretch out (like in the knees or anything). HTH!

  14. OT--advice needed, please! Is it too close to Spring to wear the gray tartan boy shirt (with jeans)? I just snagged it on popback, and would love to wear it before next Winter. But I don't want to look like I'm celebrating Christmas in March :/ Thanks in advance!

  16. I just stopped in my B&M and want to confirm that the student/educator discount CAN be stacked with the sale of 30%. My sales associate confirmed with her manager. I am really pleased, and will now be able to purchase some of the things I have my eye on. Thank you J Crew!

    2. That's funny because my store, which is super lenient about stacking codes, said no more. If there is a store promo (like the extra 30%) they won't stack. I was surprised because they are always super generous. Also, my Madewell said the same thing and they always stack without question. Boo. So glad that you are getting the codes stacked though!

    3. Yeah, no more stacking for my store. This particular manager is very lenient too. Oh well, not buying then

  17. I really want to get the tipped boy shirt but need sizing help! I wear a D-cup, and always have the gaping problem with blouses - however, Blythe blouses seem to work well. I got a cotton boy shirt last year and had to return it because of the gaping. Can anyone comment on the sizing for the tipped boy shirt? I'm hoping since it's a different material, it will not gap.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's almost identical (size & fit) to the Blythe, in my experience. HTH!

      Delete
    2. Catherine - tipped boy shirt sizing info:

      Size 4 - chest = 37.75"
      Size 6 - chest = 38.75"

Go one inch up for each subsequent size.

I usually wear 6 in the J Crew boy shirts & similar button downs. The size 4 felt fine, but I liked the more relaxed look of my usual size. HTH

  21. I have been stalking the shawl collar striped sweatshirt for months. Whenever it has been on pop back..they didn't have my size or it wasn't a very significant discount. Tuesday...finally...they had only xs and I snagged it for $41 after promo. I just received it today and although it is not what I expected...it is one of my favorite pieces from jc lately. The body is very thin...almost like a painter t...and you will certainly need to wear something under or over it on cold days. What I didn't realize is the collar, cuffs and hem are knit sweater material...very heavy weight...and very original. And it is long sleeves vs 3/4 sleeves!! I thought it was black online but now I think it might be a dark navy. I am not sure if the sweater parts will be itchy and I am hoping the collar will have the effect of wearing a scarf without needing to wear one. I can't wait to try it out. It is such a simple item..but I haven't been this exciting about anything jcrew in a long time!!

  24. 40% off at factory stores only started today. You can also use the 20% off $125 or 25% off$125 when you use your jc card. I picked up the chambray blazer for $56. I sized up to a 6 from my usual 4.

  25. Here is the Sailor Side-Seam Shirt IRL. I liked the fit quite well -- it was not too blocky and the sleeves are comfortably loose - but not too loose. The feel of the fabric is like half way between a tee and a sweatshirt.

  26. I just received the Sterling Skirt in retro jade and it's perfect! I got my usual size 00P and it fits very well indeed. I wouldn't want to be eating a huge dinner in it, though!

  32. Quick question about Factory skinny jeans...is there just ONE style that is just a cross between the retail matchstick and toothpick?

I'm interested in the Factory Garment Dyed Skinny Jean, and noticed on the photo online that it says "matchstick" along the waist. The Straight and Narrow Ankle Jean also says "matchstick" along the waist. Does that mean they are actually cut the same? Can someone comment on the fit of the Factory Skinny?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Bonnie,

The Factory Garment Dyed Skinny Jeans are toothpicks. The Straight and Narrow Ankle Jeans are matchsticks. The online names are confusing, but in-store the tags clearly indicate that one is a toothpick and one is a matchstick. HTH!

  33. Only stopping by to make a few returns. Yesterday I received the online order I placed from this sale and was pretty disappointed. A few things....
    1) Paley Pant in Super 120s...light heather gray. Horrible! Very thin, very itchy. Not sure if these run small or if the Cafe Capris run large but I ordered my usual size 2 and the fit was awful. Tight around the thigh and bum but big in the waist. The material was so thin you could see the pocket outlines in the pants. I was very disappointed.

    2) Perfect Shirt in Suckered Gingham...I ordered the neon azalea. The color was really cute but the material was super thin. I felt as though it was the quality of the Factory Perfect Shirts which are fine but really, I was expecting much better quality as my other FP J.Crew perfect shirts are much more substantial. This is going back.

    3) Tippi sweater and cardigan in the Spring's heathered turquoise. Love the color. Love the pullover Tippi as always but since the cardigan was half the price as the pull over, I may just keep the cardigan...cute for spring.

I was really looking forward to this order but sadly, poor quality struck again. I need to find some new stores to peruse.
