One JCA's Top Ten J.Crew Prints {part 2}

To recap, a big "thanks!" to :) Jen (in this post) who came up with a great suggestion for a post: "I would love to see a run-down of your top ten j.crew prints of all time". I love the idea for such a fun post.

Yesterday we got to see "One JCA's Top Ten J.Crew Prints {part 1}". Now here is part two! The following are another three prints of my top ten list. Again, in no order because I love them all!

7. Lobster Print anything from Summer 2007.

From the dress to the skirt, the all-over lobster print is adorable! It screams Summer with its playful design. Yeah, I am a fan.

6. Vintage Violet anything from 2008.

From the dress, to the cardigan, to the coat (oh the coat was gorgeous!), the vintage rose print is a beauty to behold. This is one of those prints that will never go out of style.

5. Bahamas Skirt from Summer 2006.

Do you remember this little number from back in the day? I was contemplating whether or not this cute map of the Bahamas should make the list. I honestly love this skirt, so here it is! It is one of those fun prints that I always get compliments on from complete strangers.

What are your thoughts on the Top 10 prints from J.Crew? What items/ prints do you think will make the rest of my list? What items/ prints would make it to your top ten list? :)

  1. Aha, so at least one of my print picks made it to your list. ;) And seeing part 2 of your top 10, I have a confession to make ...

Some time ago, I felt I had to "rescue" an item from eBay because it was going unbid. So now I own a lobster print skirt, even though it's about 3 sizes too big for me. Crazy the things we the addicted do.

  2. I love many of the prints that are everybody's favorites. From the more recent ones I also liked Silk Indigo and very recently Gallerista skirt.

  4. Wow:-) I only had a top 6 but 2 more of my prints just made it on THE LIST. I definitely would have to pass on the lobster print:-) don't want any pinchers on my clothing!

  6. I dunno, I'm still not crazy about the "novelty" prints (lobsters, library books, etc.) They are amusing to look at but I would never wear them in a million years. I much prefer a sophisticated print like the vintage violet. I hope more like these make your list!

  7. I love the lobster stuff. Sadly, it seems out of place in today's jcrew, but it is a classic... I still hope they bring back a few critters this summer!

  8. tasty moog,

Me too. I would love to see a new twist on the critters...esp. the single ones that several other mentioned yesterday...like the penguin, owl and polar bear. Still have my sequin penguin tee and love it:)

  9. Oh, that skirt! I have narrowly missed this one on eBay several times.

  10. I love the lobster print but have never bought anything in it myself. It says 'picnics near the shore' and 'garden parties' to me, neither of which I partake in.

Nothing in vintage violet had ever been in my price range but I sure do love to look at it! Likewise, I have always liked the Bahamas skirt, but I can't pull off a-line skirts. I love that you sport it though!

  11. On the subject of old-school j.crew, someone on ebay (not me) is trying to sell nine "rare & hot" catalogues for a starting price of $130! Sacre bleu!

  12. p.s. Is anybody else being asked to type in two verification words now, one of them which is half white type on a black background? My eyes hurt!

  13. Sort of OT, but speaking of prints, several of the new print items that came out 2 weeks ago are already in final sale online. Fanfare print cardi, jacket and skirt. Gardenshade floral skirt is promo priced (so you can get % off).

  14. Love these! My imaginary perfect wardrobe keeps getting bigger.

  16. That Bahamas print skirt is absolutely adorable- such a fun retro look! It's the first time I've ever seen it. So cute!

  17. Off-topic but does anyone have reviews of the fanfare pencil skirt? It has hit final sale and it looks tempting but don't want to be stuck with a dud. Also, any reviews of the gardenshade floral skirt?

  20. My Goodness!
    IschiaDressOnEbay
    One of my unattainable faves.
Guess I'll continue to admire from afar at that price.

  21. I loved so many of these prints when they were introduced and still love them now.

For some of the more "memorable" prints e.g. the critters, I remember hesitating because I thought they weren't "me" or wouldn't be practical in my real-life wardrobe. But I'm laughing now because let's just say the 14 sequined JC garments hanging in my closet now aren't getting worn all that often to client meetings or the grocery store either!

There will probably always be a market for cute critters if they are done well and with a sense of humor. Vineyard Vines comes to mind.

  22. I love the Lobster and Bahama print. I missed out in Summer 2007 but the FISH PRINT on the skirt in red was my favorite. Never found one to buy... :(

  23. I tend to lean towards the floral/paisley end. That just suits my personal style a bit more. I also tend to buy the prints in scarves vs clothing because it is easier for me to mix those items in. I do agree that print and color are two areas where JCrew has always excelled.

  24. Shariyu I found the orange background with the white fish print skirt at a store that had been a return in it was my size. I passed on it due to the price. when I got home an hour and a half later I called the store and had it to be shipped to me. I'm so glad I did!
