This is the type of promotion we don't get to see too often since it applies to both sale and full priced merchandise. I am loving that!

Will you be taking advantage of the LOVEFALL promo? Are you loving the new promotion from J.Crew? Did you pick up an item or two? Please share! :)

  1. I haven't placed an order yet, but do have numerous items in my cart that I'm contemplating. :)

  2. Purchased the fiesta purple majesty pea coat this morning. I have the heather honey and I am obsessed.

  3. Was so happy to see this promo. I actually reordered a few full priced items and saved over $70!! Very pleased to be getting the items I want at a discount BEFORE they hit final sale. I can't believe the number of items I've been listing on ebay lately that I bought during the dreaded final sale last year. I've promised myself "never again!" Good job on this promo JCrew!

  4. It's a good time to try out items before they hit FS! I have this nagging fear that it may just stick around. Love to hear what the JCA's are ordering.

  5. I just placed a $400 order with my PS 2 days ago. :( It started getting cold here, and I didn't think I could wait any longer. Has anyone's PS done a price adjustment for them? If not, I'm just going to order everything again and return the full price order.

  6. I bought the double serge in viridian green and a cardi. I just wish the pencil skirt wasn't on backorder until 2012! They have it in my local store but without the promo I couldn't justify the purchase. Bah!

  7. You do not see this offer very often, so take advantage :>

    ReplyDelete
  8. Great promo, some items are marked down quite low.
I'm eyeing up the Encore trench, the winsome dress and some sweaters for my DH.

    ReplyDelete
  9. just ordered the flair skirt in the rose print (hope reviews were right about sizing up one), the corduroy skirt in bluegrass, & the jardin skirt in purple. only the flair is final sale, so I'll have option to return the others

  10. Hello!

Has anyone seen the Crochet lace-front tee in person? I was wanting to order it but was wondering if the colors are true to the website pictures and how the sizing is.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Perfect timing! I was able to return and repurchase my Flared perfect coat last night, which also in good timing went on sale yesterday and I'd purchased it 29 days prior and hadn't worn it yet, so now I have a big gift card burning a hole through my pocket! I just wish this could be used in stores too... I'm so wary of online purchasing because of how large the price differential has become on many items.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Brandon+Allie -- Yes, my PS has definitely done price adjustments, so contact him/her with your order number for sure!

JulieY -- I adore this skirt and I think you're safe sizing up in it. I usually wear a 4 pencil skirt and the 6 in the Flair is perfect on me.

    ReplyDelete
  13. teeny84: The pencil skirt in veridian may very well ship early to you. I ordered mine with the same backorder date a while back, and just received it last week. Fingers crossed for you!

  14. What advice do you ladies have on the Fisherman Sweater (not the shrunken version)? How is the sizing running? and is the fabric prone to pilling? I need a good ivory sweater and I like the way this one looks! TIA!

  15. I know this is a long shot but does anyone know how the polka dot blouson dress fits in comparison with the petite lace blouson dress from the summer? I know I will love this if I connect with the right size but I'm debating which size to order. Took a 0P in the lace dress and considering a 00 in the polka dot but I'm vary of 00 as often the arm holes are a bit tight.

  16. Need JCA advice:Miller Motorcycle boots #49521:
Which will I get more use out of (which are a better neutral): brown or black? I intend to mostly wear them with skinny jeans and cargoes. Also, anyone try this years Miller's for size?
    Thanks in advance,
    Carol

  17. Brandon + Allie - I just posted a vent re: price adjustments on the vent post for this week. I don't have a PS, so hopefully they'll do it for you!

I placed an order for the Isabel sweatshirt and the cashmere shawl-open cardi. I tried the Isabel in my usual XS in-store, and it was pretty huge. I'm trying out the XXS (ridiculous, I am a S/4-6 in other stores!). Also ordered the black gingham perfect shirt and a couple of the Dolci tanks, which are very soft and have a beautiful drape to them.

    ReplyDelete
  18. They also removed lots of item during 25% off period....sigh.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'll poke around later and see...at the moment, I'm too busy boggling over the fact that someone sold a Bella jacet on eBay for $228 (17 bids!).

What am I doing wrong? lol!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Haha...one more (sorry for hogging the thread)!

Boy shirt in blue vintage flannel: size down or TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yay!! I am currently looking at the Paley pant in the camel color (since I can't find a camel pencil skirt to save my life) and the interoffice skirt in navy. It's great to get these work basics at a good price.

Dani, I ordered the encore trench the other day with a 15% discount, it has shipped so it will be here soon. Tabitha gave me some sizing advice and I'm hoping it's perfect! I think it's the most beautiful coat.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Do you think there will be a better outer wear promo? I seem to remember a 30%% off last year. I am hesitant to order the metro coat as I have never tried it. Any advice on fit and sizing?

Are the wool cafe capris itchy? I am on my BB and searches don't work.
    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I thought I was safe from JC for a while but this deal is too good to miss!
I ended up getting the pencil skirt in green viridian (hope I get it sooner than 2012!), the jardin skirt in the violet, the dolman sweatshirt and a makeup bag from the factory store.
    Oh you always win, JC!

    ReplyDelete
  24. AppGal, the Fisherman sweater in ivory is terrific. I have this in both the ivory and the acorn colors and the fit is great - TTS and fitted to the body but not overly so. Looks really lovely with a pencil skirt or jeans. I love this so much I considered a couple of the other colors but I've learned from past experience that if I buy too many of the same item I end up tiring of all of them pretty quickly.

I too have my eye on the Jester sweater. In person, it's very true to its online photo and both of the colorways are lovely and very different looking. My issue with this one is that when I saw it in store, the very first one I picked up had a big snag in it. I don't think it's a particularly snaggable material (see: mohair or linen cardis) but that was still enough of a turnoff for me that I'm waiting for a better price. Also helps that my size has been sold out online ;)

    HTH a little bit!

    ReplyDelete
  25. So happy you shared this promotion since I haven't received an official email about it yet :)

I finally grabbed a pair of wool cafe capris and a sale sweater (merino turtleneck) I had my eye on.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oops, forgot to say my Fisherman sweaters haven't really been pilling much and I've worn one of them a number of times already. As opposed to my Cashmere cable sweater...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm wondering about outerwear promo also. I believe last year they ran a 30% off after Thanksgiving, am I right? But people are suggesting one will be next week. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Has anyone seen the liquid silk skirt in sand dune? It's an unusual colour and I'm currently debating it - is it more pink beige or is it more of a neutral camel colour? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dara - have you been having issues with the cashmere this year?

JCAs, how would you rate this year's cashmere compared to last year?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Can I return stuff purchased online in-store? If so does the 60 days still apply? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh the sneaks, nothing for the UK as usual, this just isn't on.

    ReplyDelete
  32. DesertFlower I went for it and ordered the trench. So we'll both be in the Encore Club. At less than half price I couldn't resist. I've really loved it since it came out!
I really could have used it last night when I was out for dinner in the pouring rain, my black Icon just doesn't work over a full skirt.

Wait long enough and things do go on sale!

I also took ajc's advice on the review post and ordered the winsome dress. I have just the shoes for it, my red Chie's!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've been waiting for a promo like this, so I'm definitely biting. Right now, though, I have a cart full of about $1,000 worth of stuff and I have to whittle that waaaaayyy down.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does anybody have any feedback on the following items--the waffled cashmere zip sweater and the cashmere snowbound sweater? I'm interested if they fit true to J. Crew size, if they are boxy and if they pill. Thank you so much.

    ReplyDelete
  35. From what I can tell by the comments I've read on JCA, it sounds like cashmere is the same as it's always been - beautiful colors, soft, but pills quickly and frequently. Every year we hope for a change, but it hasn't really happened yet.

simplydreaming, you can definitely return online purchases in-store. 60 days is the limit, I think - just bring your packing slip.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I call total BS on the chunky cashmere sweater being totally sold out in all colors and sizes. J. Crew is ridiculous. That really turns me off that they do that.

carol: I like the Miller boot in black (I have the tall/heel). I think black is better for that boot because its a true motorcycle boot. I wear it with all colors.

    ReplyDelete
  37. A, I definitely remember some great outerwear promos and then markdowns after Halloween last year. I'd love to just buy the Metro coat in the green that I've been eyeing forever, but I do think it's worth waiting for an additional percentage off or sale price.

    ReplyDelete
  38. To me this promo is good for nothing other than ordering things to try on because we all know they will be on sale within weeks! Almost evvverything gets marked down, and quickly, these days.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Re-purchased the hacking in bright berry, as I have yet to wear the one I paid full price for.

I'll probably place another order - I'm just on the fence about what to get!

    ReplyDelete
  40. You said it, JCrewJD, lol!

Today I'm cuddled up in my bonfire cardigan from last year, yay...have been waiting forever to wear it again.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's sad but true, Elaine. But it is great for all of us to get to try things on! Nothing worse than getting burned on a final sale item.

I've spent way too much money on eBay lately on old J.Crew things to buy anything with this promo, although the turquoise hacking jacket is extremely tempting.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just made a large order last night and am waiting to see if I will get a price adjustment.

It seems lots of JCA's have negative feedback on JC cashmere, but mine is largely positive. I have probably 9 or 10 JC cashmere sweaters. Some are as old as 2005 and they still look great. JC cashmere doesn't pill quickly on me. It pills slightly in the underarms, but I expect that. A quick job with a sweater comb or shaver (carefully) restores its appearance. This year I purchased the chunky cashmere sweater, the one that sold out quickly. I haven't worn it yet but the feel is absolutely dreamy. It is sooo soft!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I placed a substantial order for a number of items I'd like to try on before final sale hits. I'll have 60 days to see if a better promo hits and I avoid final sale completely unless I know exactly what I want and what size I need. I got the booker boots in chocolate, a few of the petite pencil skirts, winnie dress, downtown field jacket, winterlude blazer, lady day and metro coats (eggplant and black colors), fishermand sweater in ivory, talia in navy (I already bought the wreath and it is stunning), snowbound sweater, merino turtlenecks and some cashmere tees. Phew. It'll be like christmas when those boxes come.

I placed an order a week ago today for the new pencil skirts, tweed mini in peacock, felted wool minis, talia in paisley, merino colorblock turtleneck and lace pullover tees (the $59.50 ones) so CS price adjusted that this morning for me. It was just to try stuff on so I know I won't be keeping it all but with the addition of the promo, I am much more apt to keep some of my favorites now.

  44. AppGal, I agree about the Fisherman Sweater being TTS. However, I would not consider buying it online unless you have to. I bought one on Tuesday at my B&M for $59.99 less 30% in a color that they don't even have online. It ended up being $41. The Park Meadows, CO store had lots of sizes and colors.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lauren S - I agree. I got a coat last nov at a big discount. I am going to patiently wait it out.
I just placed a huge order. I hope that the cords are pretty irl. I am nervous about the colors.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I haven't had that many problems with J.Crew Cashmere, either. My other J.Crew sweaters are much worse in the pilling dept (Arrow sweater, I'm talking to you!) I wore a 2009 cashmere cardi the other day and I had very few pills in the underarms but thats it. That happens with all my other non J.Crew cashmere, too, even the one $500 Ralph Lauren one I got at TJs for $50 a few years ago. I bought a high powered plug into the wall fabric shaver from Oreck, best thing ever if you're a J.Crew sweater-aholic like me!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm in agreement that the cashmere is fine--I love my boyfriend cardi and have had a generally good experience with J. Crew cashmere. I'm more interested in feedback on the specific fit of the waffle knit zip sweater and the snowbound one with the buttons on the shoulder. I'm going to get at least one, maybe both, but just wanted to see if anybody had tried either one on or knew what the fit was like. Thank you so much.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Dani, I hope the Winsome dress works for you, it is one of my favorite purchases. I was wearing it the other day to dinner with hubby and he loved it too. I have trouble wearing red, so this is great alternative for me. It also plan to wear it as a 'skirt' to work, with cashmere v-neck over it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jen - Life Accounts - please review the metro coat when you receive it. I am especially interested in how the eggplant color looks irl.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I ordered the Ludlow blazer. I alternate btw 10 and 12 in JC blazers, but ordered the 12 based on the narrow fit of the style. I hope it works. Also got two pairs of wool Hutton trousers (unlined black 120's, lined grey glen plaid type pattern) at Copley in Boston yesterday with the additional 30% off sale.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dara & Josanne: thanks for feedback re: Fisherman sweater! I am just remembering that I actually HAVE tried it on before, but in the honeycomb color. I found then that it wasn't very flattering on me, but maybe in another (more neutral) color, it would look better.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have been wearing my Cashmere shawl collar sweater from this year ALOT since I have gotten it, and it has not pilled yet. I wear the thing for a straight 8 hours, tugging a the sleeves and hem line, carrying groceries, a should tote, etc. wear and tear, rough housing, and the sweater is fine. :>

Wearing today the Cashmere turtleneck from this year and loving it in Heather Camel.

Other JCrew sweaters have been nightmares. Like the cambridge and dream fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thank you for all the cashmere reviews, I feel much more confident in my order from this morning now :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. My $.02 on the cashmere: My 2005-08 JC cashmere is just terrible--ratty and pilled. I vowed never to buy again, but I caved this year because of the plum orchard color. I'm happy to say that it is holding up better than my mid 00s JC cashmere, though I doubt it's on par with my 90s. As soo as I received my tee this year it was evident that the knit and texture were heavier and tighter than in the 00s.

I'm going to give the Keynote dress a try, but that's it for me right now. I'm so glad the neckline and hem are work -appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Has anyone tried the Biella patent loafers? Are they TTS? How do they look? What about the Biella leather loafers? I'm considering the Warm Sienna color but not sure because the Warm Brown looks worn in.

IMO the Eddie Oxfords were too long on the foot. They looked like clown shoes on me so I took them back and ordered the Camden brogues which were good. Too bad because I liked the Chai color.

For those considering the Thomas Mason shirts, the white Boy fits TTS on me but the blue and pink perfect ones were tighter in the bust so I'm ordering up a size.

What is the feedback on the Isabel Sweatshirt? Do you go down a size? Or is the look supposed to be oversized?

I do not like the way the cashmere crewneck cardigans are this year, they just don't look that well made. I ordered one and returned it. But the cashmere Boyfriend cardigan is beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have always wanted a bubble necklace. I don't mind buying one on eBay, but I dislike when sellers sell fakes that they call real JCrew bubble necklaces. Plus, I would want to be careful about buying a "good" fake. So I was thrilled to see the bubble necklace return to the JCrew site. I am tempted to buy now at 25% off $150 ... still so expensive, but better than $150. I am curious to know if others think this item will ever go on sale or if you think it will sell out before then. Just curious, because I'm definitely on the fence right now and would just appreciate others' opinions. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I also like my J Crew cashmere. It pills a little but not more than other brands. I have Brora cashmere that is much more money and it also pills a bit, especially the chunky sweater that was close to 300 GBP.
I found that washing it in the front load washer on delicate and drying flat actually helps with pilling. I just pick up the few pills with my fingers and they look great. I have about 12 J Crew cashmere sweaters. This year I bought two v necks and love them slightly slouchy but fitted in the hips and with perfect 'V'. I order all my JC cashmere in larger of my sizes. I like them looser but I think it also helps with pilling if your sweaters are not too tight.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Elizabeth - I wear an XS or S in JC pull-over sweaters (in cardis I take S); usually I size up to an S for a slouchier fit. I am a 4/6 dress size. I tried the Isabel in an XS and it was really big. I want to wear it with pencil skirts, like they show on the website, so I am trying the XXS to see if that's better. The XS would have been fine with jeans, but it was still really large, and would have looked odd with pencil skirts I think. I'm guessing that the XXS will be slouchy, but not overly so. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks ajc and Lia, I like a looser fit in the cashmere too. I want it to look loose enough to look lush without looking sloppy.

Ugh, I can't even find a blog that talks about the Beilla loafers. That may be a sign.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm so torn! I really want the fiesta purple majesty coat, but some of you have mentioned that there might be outerwear promos in the near future. I'm always one to hold out for a sale, but I'm worried that the fiesta purple will sell out like the peony. Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  61. AppGal, I did post on Tuesday that I bought a Fisherman Sweater (48675) in a lovely beige/grey/biscuit color, it is not the same color as Heather Acorn, it is more grey. Color on tag is HSA. I had not seen it in the stores before. Maybe check with the store if you are willing to do a Final Sale.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I bit on this promo. I've been doing a big closet cleanout and taking stock of what I have and what I'm wearing/not wearing. I only went for basics on this promo; l/s perfect fit tees (love them!) and the mixed tape cardis.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hexicon, I have a review of the Keynote dress on my blog.

Elizabeth, I got the leather high heel Biellas and they fit TTS. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm hoping J. Crewers can help me out: I fluxuate between an xs and an s in j. crew sweaters and I am getting my first cashmere sweater (v-neck). Does anyone have a sense of how true to size these are? I would like to get a small and be safe but don't want to swim in it in case they run large.....help!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Elizabeth: I have the Biella Loafers (regular leather, not patent) and love them! I bought my regular size but they were definitely a bit snug (I like my shoes to be tight), I know other people who have gone up a half size. They are quite tall but the platform makes the heel height manageable and I don't find them difficult to walk in.

Rose blogs about them here: http://1moreshoppingblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/j-crew-mid-october-ii.html and AudreyBella reviews them here: http://audreybella.blogspot.com/2011/08/j-crew-fall-2011-new-arrivals.html. HTH!

  66. Does anyone remember if J.Crew has done a promo on suiting before? I think I'll take my chances and wait and see if the suiting dresses go on sale eventually - I want all of them, but am more optimistic about these going on sale than the basic staples like pencil skirts and pants. I'm wondering if I should order Super 120s pencil skirts and possibly pants in the basic neutrals (black, navy, grey, etc) right now with the 25% off. These seem to be available year round, so I didn't know if these would go on sale ever. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Can someone give me advice on the bi-stretch wool suit (Nouvelle jacket and 1035 tab trouser) in the warm grey? How does it compare with the wool crepe? I've never tried any of these on since the store near me only carries the super 120s suits and since they're final sale, I want to be careful. I've always liked the heather grey/flannel in the super 120s, but they don't ever seem to be on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have been waiting for this sale forever, and the only thing I want (mink Macalister wedge) is backordered until November. Grr, Jcrew, why do you torture me so?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Has anyone see or tried the Honeycomb Cable Sweater? I'm looking for crewneck sweaters to wear over button downs, but I don't want them to be too long since I'd like to wear them with skirts as well as pants. I like the look and length of this one, but the fabric content concerns me and I never know what sizing might be like on JC sweaters now.

Alternatively, if anyone has any suggestions for shorter crewneck sweaters that would be great! I tried on the Fisherman Sweater and wasn't crazy about it on me, I thought the cables added bulk and I'm already a size bigger on top. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Stupid me placed an order on some full price items on Monday (and got free shipping). I wasn't sure on size on some pants so ordered two sizes. . .since I have to make a return anyway, I went ahead and reordered the entire order today to get the discount.

Sure the SA will think I'm weird when I'm returning three, or possibly four, pairs of the same corduroys. . .but the 25% discount is worth it!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks everyone, I'm talking about the flat Biella loafers. I had high heeled loafers already and haven't worn flat loafers for years but I'm sort of liking the feminized J. Crew version they are doing with the patent leather.

    ReplyDelete
  72. @ Thi -- I bought three suiting pieces in bi-stretch warm gray. I got the Aubrey jacket, the tab-waist skirt, and the tab-waist trouser. I usually wear a 2p or 4p, but I sized up to a regular 2 for the skirt because the petite was too short. The other items fit TTS. I really like the jacket and think it is wonderful quality.

I do have a bone to pick with the 1035 tab trouser, which is that it is unlined. The fabric is also fairly thin, so dress carefully to avoid VLP disaster! I got them on sale, but there's no way I would have paid full price for them.

This is my first J Crew suit, so unfortunately I can't compare it with the other collections.

  74. I ordered the Academy herringbone coat . I've been completely obsessed with it and really really hope I am not disappointed. Worried that the cut will be ridiculously boxy on me but we'll see!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Does anyone know how the Vintage Tweed jacket fits? I ordered size 4 based on the other jackets I have from JC. Since it is back-ordered to Dec. 26, it will be my Christmas present.

Also got the Sherpa Zip hoodie in warm walnut. I had both the S and the M from last year in the ivory colour and the M fitted better because it is a long, skinny fit, plus the lining take sup some space. I hope this year's is not running huge.

  77. Shann, once you get the Academy Coat please do a review. I love the coat but the 3/4 sleeves with the knit attachments turned me off and I have never seen it IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Josanne Will do! I love the sleeves and am more worried about the body. I haven't seen it irl either. My freakin store had 0 coats when I looked last week

    ReplyDelete
  79. Has anyone tried on the glimmer long sleeve tee? Thinking about ordering it in black. THanks!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dara, I tried the blouson polka dots dress in a 0 and it fit perfectly. The 00 looked tiny but if you are a P0 the 00 should fit you well (I am a P2 in pencil skirt but prefer regular sizes in dresses). HTH!

Has anybody tried the Elements coat this year? Looking for advice on sizing. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Does anyone know how the Double-cloth townhouse trench fits? Also is the blue color more blue or purple?

I also remember a coat promo last year but I don't recall the exact time, maybe I should holdout for a bigger percentage.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Shirley Dela Cruz: I ordered the McAlister wedges in mink a few weeks ago and the ship date for me was also mid November. I got them last week! So I would say order anyway and you'll probably get them sooner than you think.

    ReplyDelete
  83. JenLynn: I found the Townhouse Trench to fit a bit smaller than most of JC's coats as of late. I was very comfortable in a 2 (my usual coat/blazer size) in the Majesty Peacoat and had room to layer underneath, but would need at least a 2 in the Townhouse, probably a 4 if I wanted to wear anything substantial underneath it. I found it to fit a bit tight through the shoulders/bust, so if you are broader through the shoulders or a bit busty I would definitely recommend sizing up one from your regular coat size. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  84. JenLyn: I tried on the Double-cloth townhouse trench and felt that it was TTS. I did think the arms were tight but maybe just my old fat arms :). I only saw it in the Heather Caramel and have not seen the Heather Majestic Purple IRL. HTH.
Secret word...bipol...now I am getting a mental state diagnosis from JCrew.

  85. Has anyone seen the new tweed cafe capri's in person? If so, is the fabric itchy? Are they nice or are they too similar to 70's upholstery?!

    ReplyDelete
  86. The MS store is still having 30% off sale, which was great. I really wanted the Two-Tweed Fedora in Sepia (55194), but it's $39.99 online. I knew it was only $19.99 in store, but it actually rang up $9.99 - 30%. Very good deal.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Meredith-I just received the Glimmer Tee in Khaki and really like it. I missed out on the drapey sequin tee last year and have regretted it ever since. I ordered a small which is my usual JC tee & sweater size. It fit great...not too clingy but still a flattering fit. I'd say it's definitely TTS. I think it will be great for a holiday party. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yay!! Cafe capris in harvest tweed (lined, thank goodness -the "regular" cafe capris itched and were promptly returned), and something in fiesta purple or heather hyacinth as "color pops" for browns and camels.

    Also JCAs - FYI -
At least in the metro coat, purple majesty = royal blue
(which is great if you're not looking for something that is, in fact, PURPLE). Plus, the metro may be "slimmer" than the lady day coat (I haven't tried the lady day, so don't know), but on me, the bottom still ballooned out. It looked like I had a tulip skirt on underneath!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Just ordered the Double Cloth Thinsulate Metro Coat in Sea Salt just in time for the chilly weather in Boston! Got a few other items as well and saved almost $100 with the promo. Thank you J. Crew!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Liz, will you comment on the fit/comfort of the Macalister wedge? Thanks in advance!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yeah, stores may still have some better deals, at least on sale stuff - for example the grey Saturday went from promo ($39.50)back up to FP ($59.50) online but in the B&M they've had a 2nd cut to $29.99-30%. Keep your eye out if you're looking for sale stuff in particular!

    ReplyDelete
  92. @Rosie - Thank you so much for the information! I think will go ahead and order them. I do hate that the 1035 is unlined, but I love the fit of them.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Just ordered the lace front tee in black...will see if it's nice in person; Also ordered the Biella loafer in getaway green...love the color and the city mini in bronze rust...saved quite a bit. Still on the fence re: majesty pea coat in fiesta purple.

    ReplyDelete
  94. So I bit on this promo.

Majesty Peacoat. Heather Charcoal and Heather Graphite. In P6. Could not decide which grey so got both and will decide when they arrive. Never ordered a petite from JCrew but sleeves were too long in regular when I tried on in the store.
Sequin stripe tee #57935. Ordered both XS and S since my tee size has been both this year.
    Minnie pant in stretch twill
    # 18850. British Khaki and Black. I have them in Coal and love them. Not petite though since I feel they end up being too short for winter months.
    Crochet lace-front tee
    58195 size S in Black B/O until 10/31.
If they have a coat promotion at my store next week, I will see what the price diff is but still would like to try the petite.

    ReplyDelete
  95. @ Elizabeth: I seem to remember a something % off promo for suiting, but it was ages ago and I think it was in the spring. I wish they would do a suiting promo once a season...the office wear always seems to be only full price or FS, and the good colors sell out so fast!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Wow I almost spit out my coffee this morning when I saw this offer. I had to rebuy my order from a few days ago because CS would not mark it down for me. I ordered some more things as well. The solong tunic popped back this morning! Also ordered the polka dot tee, some final sale shorts, some cashmere. Check out the heather beet color in the cashmere boyfriend v neck. Looks gorgeous, can't want to see it in person!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Lia, I'm finding, sadly, that this year's cashmere pills just as much as last year's. It's not a complete dealbreaker for me, but I certainly don't plan to buy a second FP cashmere sweater this fall, not when I need a lint shaver everytime I wear it. Hopefully the pilling will slow down in time as was the case with last year's cashmere, but it remains to be seen.

Ema, thanks so much for the info on the polka dot blouson dress. I too take a P2 in the pencil skirts so now I'm thinking the straight 0 will be perfect :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Rose, I reviewed the Vintage Tweed Jacket on my blog here (sorry no pics, but hopefully the text helps! Unfortunately I found it to be a pass for me.

  101. Ordered Hutton trousers in camel and Blythe blouse in azalea. I tried the pants in store the other day and I loved the fit. I never tried the Blythe blouse because none of the colors appealed to me but I love the neon azalea, hope it lives up to expectations.
I also asked my PS to put the paisley skirt on hold for me (she will honor the 25% off) because online it is back ordered in my size until late November (when I definitely would not be able to wear it until spring).

    ReplyDelete
  102. ajc those trousers will look terrific with that blouse. I agree that it is a stunning color.
The fit on the Hutton is really nice. I ordered the chino on the last % off so got them for 40 bucks, the size 2 fits perfect, I love the higher waist on them.

    ReplyDelete
  103. So... can I buy the viridian double-serge in store, ship it to the warehouse, then have them ship it back to me with a credit for the discount?

Arggggg. So frustrated, January is too far away!

Also, any advice on ordering things in Tall? I can see myself wanting to wear a few of these blouses with skirts, and at 5'10" tops tend to pull out of the top of my skirts, which drives me nuts. But some retailers tend to make the taller sizes also run bigger, and there is no Tall 0 in the Blythe...

    ReplyDelete
  104. Another one bits the dust!
    I ordered:
    *Schoolboy Blazer in Navy
    *Blythe in Neon Azalea
    *Blythe in Beechwood
*Wool Cafe Capri in Navy (already own the maraschino cherry and Lolli from last year) back-ordered until 12-12-11
*Lace Crochet Tee in white back-ordered until 10-31-11
    *Cashmere v-neck (hoping good quality)

As soon as I hit submit, I made a JCrew CC payment!!

And I still want the invitation clutch in leopard suede, leopard boy shirt, sequin tee in khaki...What will I do?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Rynetta, you asked for a comfort rating on the MacAlister wedge boots, so here it goes: I was pleasantly surprised. I am generally an 8.5 but I sized up to a 9 since these only come in whole sizes. I wore them with thin socks out to dinner and ended up walking much farther than I anticipated as it was prime time on a Saturday night and all the restaurants in my neighborhood were full. I probably walked 2 miles in them, with no ill effects. They are sturdy. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  106. In2itive, I thought that was a great idea to check my cc balance and maybe make a payment. But your payment must have been BIG, since now the credit card site is having technical difficulties. LOL. I did notice that multiple times today the JCrew Site and Shopping Cart was flaky...

    ReplyDelete
  107. @Josanne-LOL
Maybe "others" are ordering and making payments-LOL
I felt better knowing I was paying it off because that debt can quickly get up there. I tried to take my time ordering but I think I forget a few things-trying to decide if I want to wait it out.

    ReplyDelete
  108. did anyone else get a double order confirmation? I placed two orders, got a confirmation for order #1, then order #2 then another one for order #1...they better not have charged me twice!

    ReplyDelete
  109. OT- but I'm trying to figure out how to turn on the Chat function on the website. Is there a button or a section I need to click on? It's not like Nordstroms where you can click on an icon, unless there is one and I can't find it.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Sunny - I think you have to wait for the message to appear that a Chat rep. is available. It will appear at the top left of the screen and under the 'Add to Bag' button on the product page.

  111. This promo runs till Sunday and this thread is going to get really, really long. :>

    ReplyDelete
  112. I was at the NYC 16th and 5th ave store last Friday and noticed different prices for the Hacking jacket. The tipped hacking jacket is marked at $250 (they only have the black one but in all sizes) and they had the berry (red) hacking in double serge for $228. The SAs were surprised when I told them the online prices but said I wanted to order them, they will call it in for me at the store price. If anyone is in NYC, it's worth to go and see.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Sunny - I just contacted my PS to ask for a price adjustment on the berry hacking jacket(I just purchased today). If she doesn't honor it, I'll call the NY store and ask them to honor the online code.

    What a mess!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm interested in ordering the Teddie dress which is currently wait listed until February. Do thu usually fill wait list orders prior I the expected date? Curious if they use returns to process the waitlisted orders.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Thanks, jcbellemarie. I intend to wear this as a fall/spring jacket, so it may work ok for that. Otherwise it is going back.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Yay! While I wish I could have ordered more, I have a Disney trip in December so I was good. I ordered some crewcuts for my niece and nephew and 2 jackie cardis for me. At least I should get a good rewards card and then be able to get the black flare jeans. With my recent splurges on the cherry cafe trousers and the azalea pencil skirt (on pre-order), I just had to be good. But yay to JC for giving us a good promo! Oh, and I was able to get my b&m ps to order for me so that he gets credit for it.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Thanks for the Keynote dress review, Rose. Unfortunately I waited a little too long and it appears that the Lagoon color is sold out in my size, but my PS is looking for it. There are so many other things I'd like to have, but they don't rise to the need level. It would be really nice if my rewards card arrived before the promo expires!

Elizabeth, I have a lot of the JC suiting, and in my experience it is rare to have a suiting promo but eventually the previous season's version of an item gets marked down. Typically the vivid colors in the suiting dresses sell out earlier than the neutrals. If you want to ensure that your suiting items match IMO the 25% promo is a good deal. If you wait until the items go on sale there's more of a risk that the colors and finishes might not match--it is not a big deal for black, but might be a bigger issue for navy or grays.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Elizabeth.

Re the flat Biella loafers: it's a well made shoe at the promo price point. All leather lining, sole and upper (like the JC of yesteryear. Lol!)

I just returned the green patent pair. I ordered them in 11 since that's generally the size I have to wear post babies. I found them too big. There was alot of room in the toe box when I wiggled my toes and the heel kept slipping off my foot. However I think I'm actually a size 10.5, but since that's not available I returned them. They are a tad bit narrow around the area where the penny gets placed. I'm tempted to try the 10 with the promo. Great looking shoe. It just made my feet bigger than they already are. Even on a tall frame as mine, it's a look I would like to avoid.

For reference, I wear 10-10.5 in Coach, 10.5-11 in Cole Haan, usually 11 in j crew, exception is the driving moccasin or flip flop, and 10.5-11 in Tory Burch.

    Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  119. This was too tempting to pass up! I got the No. 2 corduroy pencil skirt in autumn bluegrass, the sherpa hoodie in warm walnut, the vintage v-neck in bright dahlia, and the crochet-front tee in navy.

Oh, and my eagerly awaited lady lace popover in heather graphite arrived today only to turn out to be....a pair of pants! I called, and they are sending it to me again, but now with an additional 25% off, so it is $78! (I ordered it in a B&M store and they were kind enough to persuade them to give me an extra 30% off the sale price already). I also bought the Talia blouse in navy in the store, as well as the Maureen sweater (not online) in green.

Can anyone comment on how vivid the heather majestic blue is? I'm contemplating either the metro coat with thinsulate or the lady day coat with thinsulate. Any recommendations welcome!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Has anyone ordered the city cropped sweater? Wondering whether I should size down or not? Is is comfy and flattering, or just a mess?

TIA! Pretty excited about this promo! I haven't ordered anything in FOREVER because I got burned on final sale over the summer, and things go on sale too fast for me to order full price. So now I can order with discount and no final sale! yay!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Anyone's BM store honoring the 25% off?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Anyone have advice on the sizing of the cashmere turtleneck sweater? I have the vneck in a small, and I like the way it fits - but I'm wondering if the turtleneck might be a little slimmer-fitting. I want to be comfy in it and not worry about it accentuating my belly! So considering ordering a medium. Any thoughts would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  123. P.S. If I have 12 things in my cart, and the total is $1213 (before discount) is that bad?!! It's not all for me!

    ReplyDelete
  124. cmg, that is a huge help. I typically wear an 8 1/2 to 9 and in JC I wear a 9. Perhaps I should size down on this one. I love the Getaway Green color.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Just bought the snowbound sweater--and while it came in at under $130 with tax after the promo, I got free shipping. Maybe they are now offering free shipping when the pre-markdown price is $150? And my sweater wasn't final sale :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. I've never ordered JC's jackets before so need some help. I take P8 in the Perfect Shirts, should I go with a P8 with the Hacking? Or should I go with P10 (since in all likelihood I'll be layering)? I'm drooling over the Herringbone Hacking in Dark Grape.

Also, I'm loving the look of the Minimalist Mockneck in Grape (since the Tippi in Grape won't ship to end of November, need my purple fix now). Anyone tried one on, or owns one? How's the fit? Really wondering about sizing. I take a medium in the Jackie twin sets and a small in pullover type sweaters.

Would appreciate any input, since buying is easier than returning for us in Canada. TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Closet Crisis, I have the hacking jacket in grape and IMO you may want to size up if either you want to layer or if you are concerned about how the jacket nips in at the waist. I am an hourglass shape with a small waists but even I found the fit to be pretty slim through the waist and tummy.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Kristine- I took my regular size in the Cashmere turtleneck. It fits actually longer in the torso and arms than other sweaters, and it is not clingy if that is what worries you.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Sunny - My PS called the 16th and 5th ave store and they said that it is $250. Would you be able to provide me with the SA that you talked to at that store?

    Thanks,
    Kati

    ReplyDelete
  130. Closet Crisis, how thick are you planning to layer under the hacking? My regular shirt/jacket size worked for me.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I know these are a new arrival, but has anyone had a chance to review the Emmett boots (both flat and with the heel)? I am debating them, but I have been burned the past few time ordering shoes. In the past, I could always order a size 7.5 but in the past year or so, I've noticed that I have had to order a half size up on occasion to get the right size. (Either that, or my feet are getting bigger! :-( ) TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Closet Crisis - I tried on the xs in the Colorblock minimalist mockneck sweater and didn't like how short it was at the waist. I could hardly move my arms without flashing some midriff. I am a size 2 in most of their blouses and jackets and have jackies & tippis in both xs for a fitted look and smalls for a slightly more slouchy look. I think will need at least a small in this one. It was really cute!

    ReplyDelete
  133. InboxImpulse, the SA probably just checked the online, I know the Hacking jacket in Berry WAS $228 in Paramus NJ. I posted about it here a while back. You can try to call there but tell them to look on the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Inboximpulse- the actual jacket was marked 228. I would have them physically look for the item. It is located on the 1st floor, at the back of the store in the left corner. It is with the other jackets. They only carry the red in the store and there were a few there last week. I hope you get the price reduction and keep us posted.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I am tempted to buy the Elements Coat...but I agree, I think there might be a better outerwear sale coming up....hmmm. 25% off only brings it down to about $260. Ugh, what to do?!

    ReplyDelete
  136. So annoyed. I didn't have time to check out yesterday and now two things in my cart went up in price. I learned my lesson! I might wait another day to see if they come back down.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Dawn - things did go up in price, including many of the sweaters. There were also more sizes added to those that had the sale prices, which makes me think that they only select a portion of items for sale and then once the prices increase, they release the others.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I would have ordered the Rigby Hobo bag, but I can't find it on the site anymore. Has it already sold out and been removed? Or did JC "hide" it from this promo??

    ReplyDelete
  139. Hi Clicquot - I think the Rigby has sold out. The black one was marked down several weeks ago, and the grey one was also put in FS last week, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I missed out on the green medium boyfriend cardigan which sold out as I was checking out :(. I think they really do pull things from the sale. Also the promo sweaters have all gone up in price and most of the cashmere has sold out or is only available in a pale color. I"m disappointed as I had planned to get one more cashmere cardi or sweater in this promo but it looks not to be unless they restock tomorrow. At least I got the snowbound sweater while it was on promo--it's back at full price.

    ReplyDelete
  141. If J Crew doubles their ebates, I am considering buying a cashmere hat and scarf set...at 30% off. Should I hold out for greater sales? need your advice ladies.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Closet Crisis: I am consistently a 0 in J. Crew perfect shirts and blouses (Stripe Silk Boy Shirt, Secretary Blouse, Talia Blouse, etc.) and absolutely needed a size 2 in the Hacking Jacket for it to button comfortably without pulling. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  143. I'm so in love with the Cece Suede Ballets in Oasis Green...ordered them and the Indigo tee for my manfriend! These flats can't come fast enough.

    ReplyDelete
  144. @Math Teacher, I didn't know about the pencil skirt coming out in neon azalea. Will there be other new colors?

    ReplyDelete
  145. @math teacher & in2uitive - my PS said the color of the new retail-only pencil skirt is bright violet, not neon azalea. She also said the bright blue will not be available so I wonder if she has all the info.

    ReplyDelete
  146. rynetta has a picture of nean azalea skirt on her blog here
I saw the new pink skirt in store but I ma not sure if this was azalea or retail only bright violet. The color was very pretty but too close to bright dahlia (just lighter) for me to justify purchase. So now I am hoping this was the bright violet and the pink skirt is still coming. My PS says they should get the blue skirt next Tuesday along with other new arrivals. I will definitely go to check it out next week and I will report here.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I stopped at the B&M where I could get a price adjustment on the cafe trousers that I bought the day before the promo started (I had to add something else to reach the $150 but basically they honored the 25% off) and saw/tried two new items (they were just putting them on the floor).
First, the cafe capri in harvest tweed. These fit TTS to a bit big and were super-unflattering on me (which I kind of knew anyway because usually thick or jaquard pants make my thighs look bigger and these are no exception). I think sizing down would probably have helped. The tweed is very textured and VERY green, I am not sure I like it, it almost felt like wearing grass. Definitively unusual if you can pull it off.

Second, the Collection Luxe silk crepe blouse (59569). I haven't tried it on but it is a very thick, heavy, silk, definitively not your usual silk shirt (it has almost the heft of a jacket). The 0 looked very long, I think it is supposed to be left out and not tucked in. They had the neon azalea color (beautiful) but not the sand dune. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  148. CaptainCrew, did your PS say what day those new colors would be in store? I keep missing the beautiful colors this season and I'm determined to score this round. I will stalk my store if I need to. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  149. ajc, so if I'm reading correctly you think the bright violet might be in stores already? And blue on Tuesday..Ok, I will need to plan my trips to the store accordingly. Seriously, I still haven't recovered from 1. ruining my bright dahlia skirt in the spring 2. missing the other purple skirt earlier in the season. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  150. Ema thanks for the reviews of the new items.
I am intrigued by the new silk blouse. Is it too thick to tuck into a skirt? Do you think it is worth the $$?
Both colors look gorgeous on the website.

    ReplyDelete
  151. DaniBP, I think that it is worth the price tag quality-wise, shirts like this don't come around often IMO, it is definitively special. However I am not sure about the fit. It isn't so heavy that it can't be tucked in but the button placket looked very long and I am afraid it would look stick akwardly with the skirt tucked in. But again, maybe it was an impression, I should have tried it on, I first thought it was the new Blythe and I didn't know about the other color!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Thanks Ema! I'm tempted to try the blouse as it does look special, I have just the black skirt for it (the Tuxedo with box pleats from JCrew 2004!)
The discount would apply as well, but guess what they are backordered until 12-26!

LOL my word verify is STOPOLO, is the universe directing me to stop drinking the crewlade?

    ReplyDelete
  153. MommysShopping Again, my B&M gets inventory ahead of other stores because it is a concept store. They are usually about one roll out ahead because they are testing customer response before J Crew sends inventory to other stores. It is a store at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ if you want to give them a call. Their inventory is usually very good and they have many items not available or back ordered online.

    ReplyDelete
  154. ajc, thanks for the info. I may give them a call!

    ReplyDelete
  155. MommysShopping Again you can ask for Nancy, she is my PS and she is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Sunny - sorry for all the back and forth! So was there only hacking jacket with the $228 price tag? This wasn't a mark down, right? The jacket tag was printed with the lower price?

The PS is not wanting to give me this deal, so I'm considering calling the store? There are others on here that said the store marked it as $228.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Clicquot - I saw 2 black rigby purses at South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, CA) today in the sale section + 30% off. Didn't look at the price, though, but may be worth it to call. The store was packed but no one was looking at them.

    ReplyDelete
  158. @ajc and mommysShopping Again, I called Paramus and the skirt is available in bright violet but not neon azalea. The SA described it as a light pink/mauve, which is what bright violet looks like online.

My PS is away for the weekend and she did not say when this color would be available in other stores so I just did a charge-send myself on this one. I'll let you know how it works out.

    ReplyDelete
  159. @Hexicon, Mathteacher, Jen, Caitlin: thanks for your input, you guys are super helpful! Sounds like I should go with a P10 for the Hacking and M for the mockneck sweater. Bummer I missed the overlap with the sweater promo. I love this community!! Thanks again everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Captain Crew, hmmm, that isn't looking very purple now that I see it. Darn, what I really wanted was closer to jazzy purple and I missed it. Boo. Might still work but won't fill the need in my closet I was hoping for... sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Majesty Peacoat? Does it fit TTS? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  162. In2itive and Captain Crew, my ps called CS and pre-ordered the neon azalea pencil skirt. CS confirmed that it was in their system for pre-order and would ship November 7. I'm not sure when or if it will be in stores. I'm hoping it's a true pink (like the neon azalea jackie) and not a purple/pink as I already have a purple #2 from 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Inbox impulse , the hacking was marked with that printed price on the actual tag. There was no markdown. The tipped hacking was also marked 250 as well. Did you try calling the Paramus store? They may be more helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Twiggly Wiggly: I found the Majesty Peacoat to fit TTS, I took my usual coat/blazer size (which is up one from the size I take in blouses). HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Does anybody know if there will be a restock before the promo ends? I checked early this morning and it looked like nothing had been added--everything I want is pretty depleted and my size/color preferences are all sold out.

Also, does anybody know how the factory striped leggings fit? They have a pair on clearance that I'm interested in. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Jewel jacquard capris are online and fully stocked in all sizes! The best part? You can get $50 off with the promo!!

    ReplyDelete
  167. Inboximpulse-
Thanks for posting! I've been wanting those! Do you know if they fit TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  168. Lizzy - I don't know how they fit. My pair just shipped today (with a price adjustment, of course!).

I can update you all once I receive them next week.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I am wearing the Winterlude blazer on my blog today.
It is a great item but apparently it is now sold out! I wonder if it really is?
With the percentage off it is well worth the price IMO. I paid FP for mine when it first came out and I don't regret it one bit!

    ReplyDelete
  170. stocked up on some scoopneck perfect ts, a henna pullover hoodie, and the belted wintress pufferin bunker grey! (my dream color) going cozy and comfy for this winter. does anybody have a jcrew puffer?

  171. After much deliberation I pulled the trigger on the Elements coat in navy and the schoolboy blazer in pearl grey (plus a coat for my daughter). I regretted not getting the navy duffle coat two years ago and I was happy to see the Elements in navy and made in stadium-cloth this year (if I am not wrong last year's version was wool). Hopefully it won't be too stiff but I took the larger of my two sizes to account for that. I miss on the pearl grey blazer every year so I thought now or never. Was tempted by many other things (including the flair skirt) but I can wait for them to go on sale. In my opinion this is a great promo as it seems that this year we won't see as many as last year. Maybe we will see a 30% promo on outwear or maybe not, 25% was good enough for me as I didn't want to miss on this coat.

  173. melanie, I have two J.Crew puffers, both from 2009 and sherpa-lined. I love them and wear them often in the cold Canadian winter. They have lasted well and still look new so I haven't checked out this year's version but hopefully it is still the same stylish, warm jacket.

  174. Ema, I bought last year's stadium cloth peacoat in Nordic blue and it had "by Nello Gori" on the tag. Content is 79% wool, 21% nylon. Lining is 100% acetate.

That is the same composition for the 2009 Boulevard trench and Winnie in stadium cloth.

In 2008 I bought the Shipley and Bridget in stadium cloth and they are 80% wool, 20% polyamide. The lining was also 100% acetate.

The 2009/10 versions feel just slightly lighter weight but still very soft and plush.

I love J.Crew's stadium cloth, it is so warm and really cuts the wind. It is structured but I don't find it stiff. Hope you love yours.

  175. Has anyone tried the Perfect-fit Ribbon Henley? I'd love to pick up a few colors if they are worth it on promo. Any opinions out there?

    TIA

  177. Hi, does anyone know how the Kiernan ankle booties fit? Have you seen them in a store? TIA!!

  178. Do the regular cafe capris fit the same as the blackwatch plaid? The plaid is sold out online so CS can't give me measurements.
    Thank you.

  179. xoxo - The perfect-fit henley is the ignored stepchild in JC merch, imo. I love these! Pic of one of the most recent styles in this post. I think I bought about 6 of those. Two white, one black & then a few colors. They languished and went down to really a really low price. See, stepchild. If the pic of me expecting is totally unrelatable, I own a couple colors in another version. The placket has a bigger ruffle on that one and you can see it in this post.

Thanks for pointing it out. I thought I have enough of them, but I might go for the bright dahlia since the vintage v-neck tee didn't work out for me. Too thin. Oh - I notice in the descr of this year's henley that it has thicker fabric. That must be nice because I find the fabric on the ones I have just fine.

  181. ajc: thanks for linking my blog!! And, thanks a ton for all of your helpful comments about what is to come. I really appreciate the heads up!!!

I've been out of town, so I am just catching up on this thread. So, the no. 2 pencil skirt in bright violet is retail only?

  182. I'm in mourning of sorts. By the time I got to my computer last night and was ready to pull the trigger on a Dark Grape Hacking that EVERYONE here knows I wanted, my size is gone! OMG, I almost fell off my chair as I blinked and saw it fall out of my cart. But consolation is I went to my shipper and picked up my last JC order, including a couple of Gingham Perfect Shirts, Cashmere cardi in Plum Orchard, and Summer Weight Chino Shorts. All FS, but all worked out perfectly, size, fit, colour... Small consolation, but I have my purple fix now...for now anyway...

  183. Closet Crisis, what a pain!! Is it worth getting the regular 8 and just get the sleeves tailored if necessary?

    ReplyDelete
  184. @Louise: I've asked to have functional cuffs shortened before and my tailor would charge me $25 A SLEEVE. So probably not worth it to alter.

I'll be OK, I was getting so stressed out because of the sizing/fit issues, it's actually a relieve that I am not getting it now. I really wish JC would open a shop here on the west coast so I can go try things on. I would buy SO MUCH MORE (online or at the B&M), with confidence.

I can now spend the $$$ for the jacket on sweaters. I need a v-neck, pullover, turtleneck... have waaaay too many cardis as you all know ;)

  185. CC, I get what you are saying. JC is missing out on a lot of Vancouverites' $$ by not opening that store here already!

Sorry you didn't get the jacket. Maybe they'll have a re-stock over night.

  186. @Rose: Seriously, I would love to try on a regular size (and why don't they have petites in ALL the B&Ms already!) and know with 95% certainty I can fit a P size (1 up)!

I'm just excited/curious to read what the other JCA's are getting. Can't wait for all your reviews :D

  187. Small update this morning. I was able to get the boyfriend cardigan in classic pine. Other sweaters are back in colors and sizes that were out of stock yesterday.

  188. For those who have tried the flair and rose flair skirts - do they fit the same? I've tried on the heather acorn flair in store so I know what I take in that skirt.

  189. Nice promo, but I'm slowing down on my buying lately. I really want the new Toggle Coat in houndstooth plaid, but I should probably wait for 30% off promo.

I'm just nervous it will sell out before that time. The 30% off outwear came out on Dec 7th last year and early Nov the years before. Hopefully we just have a few weeks to wait. If not, I might have missed the boat. Not that I need another coat or anything.

  190. I bought a few long-sleeved shirts. I was really in need of a few & was so happy to find some that were not on final sale. I had a bad experience with final sale a few months ago (ordered a size large, but it fit like a small or extra small!) so I hadn't been ordering much as prices are outrageous. So glad I could try a button down and a few sweaters without the FS! Was also glad it applied to backordered items! Woot!

    ReplyDelete
  191. Well, I decide to just preorder the toggle coat now, just in case it sells out. I hate when that happens.

I'll just order it again, if it's available during the 30% off Outerwear promo.

  192. xoxo, thank you for sharing. I saw the peacoat the other day in store and it did look plush and cozy so I hope that the Elements will be the same.

A, I tried the blackwatch plaid capri and in my opinion they run almost a size bigger than the regular ones (it could be the fabric which is more lightweight than the wool the regular capri are made of).

Wolfy, I almost ordered the toggle coat too (it looks so cute in the Looks we love feature), but the release date was too far away and it doesn't look like a very warm coat. Also, I wanted to order both the Elements and this one to choose from but the release date makes it a bad plan (I know I would end up keeping both)

  193. For anyone that purchased the Majesty Peacoat, did you size down with it? I purchased the heather graphite in my normal size 2 weeks ago, but kinda drowned in it. I'm scared to reorder it in a size 0 as I haven't worn a 0 in outerwear in over 10 years! Looking at the Elements Coat as well, but its hard to tell how flattering that coat would be. Tia!

  194. Ema - thank you. I tried the beige ones in a smaller size and they fit but I didn't like how the back of my legs looked. I tried the blackwatch plaid in a size up and they were looser in the waste and the front but I preferred them. Its so confusing to order bc of the inconsistent sizing.
Thank you so much for your input.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Thanks Ema. I know it seems like a long way away before it ships, but we are already almost into November. I just hate it when I set my eye on something, only to be disappointed that I didn't purchase it before it sells out. It happens a lot with the places I shop.

I agree that it doesn't look to be a extra warm coat, but I just love the look. Hopefully I'll be able to use it a few months out of the year.

I thought about getting the Elements coat, but I was really disappointed with the quality, once I saw it in person. Seems a bit shapeless and the fleece material looked like felt almost.

I also have my sights on the longer puff jackets and maybe the vest.

  196. Can someone provide input into Mona Pump sizing? I am about to purchase the Mona pumps in Red and perhaps Pale Peacock. I always, always, always wear a size 7 in non-JCrew pumps. When I ordered the Tortoise Shell peeptoes last year, I needed a 7.5 because the 7's were just a tad snug. I don't know if I should go for the 7's in the Mona or if I should size up to a 7.5. Could someone advise? I want to place the order by midnight so that I can take advantage of the 25% discount. Thanks, ladies!
