J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Fabulous Florida Mommy (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had a mini-update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} Of course, Crewcuts got updated too (click here).

In general, the new arrivals were just "okay" for me. I am pretty sure that will change once I see them in person at my local B&M store. :)

However, one item did catch my eye. On the very top of my must have list is the Edie Purse (Item 44804; $238.00) in any of its delicious shades. This is one of those classic purses that can be styled for work or weekend with ease. And the price isn't that outrageous. Well done J.Crew!

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Good morning! Havent given the new arrivals a good "once over" yet this morning, but wanted to share a Lands End Canvas free shipping code, no minimum:

  4. I agree with silver_lining, that peplum blouse looks promising. I just wish they would give us a break with the olive color.

  5. Oh, and there's a women's Dickies workshirt (52240) for $265?! I could hop over to the local army/navy store and get one for less than $20.

  6. Oh dear. I don't see even one new thing that I like. Oh well.

  7. It's nice to see a Maxi skirt! That one looks promising. I also love the red/orange color of the Peplum blouse.

  8. My PS told me this is a mid-month launch (no catalog), so I didn't expect to see a very big rollout. There isn't really anything I'm overly excited about, but do agree that it's nice to see a maxi skirt being offered.

  11. I'm a little disappointed with the summer fare, all categories are becoming slouchier and droopier, definitely trending toward Madewell-style clothes. I see pretty much nothing I can wear to work (business casual office) and nothing I want to wear outside of work. If I hadn't seen the Fall 2011 collection I'd be worried that J Crew is turning totally casual. Oh well, the money I'm not spending on summer clothes I can spend snagging the past season's popbacks, including numerous shoes and boots.

  12. Alexis, I spied the Edie purse too. I like the chain on the strap and the flame color is very pretty.

My favorite piece is the About Town t-shirt dress. Love the casual style of a t-shirt dress and I've ordered it already.

Also ordered the Summerlong Sweater and hope that it isn't incredibly thin, although the copy says it is "light as air" so I won't be shocked if it is. Am I asking too much to have the sweater last all "summerlong"?

  13. Hi xoxo! :)

I got the about town t-shirt dress and think that it is great - everything I hoped that Madewell tee shirt dress (pencil-stripe tunic, I think it was called) would have been. I think you'll like it. The way it's photographed online makes it look like kind of a weird v-neck, but it's so not - just a cute kind of scoopneck that's not too tight or short and IMO, would look good as a dress or a tunic.

  14. Miss JR - I received the same email, although it looks like it's one time use only. I am re-ordering everything that I purchased, as the savings will be quite significant.

  15. Hi silver_lining, thanks for the info on the About Town dress. It's great to hear that it is everything you expected. I wear polo and t-shirt dresses often, they work much better for me than the jersey dresses with a-line skirts. The Madewell dress is not really special but I do like it. I think I will love this J.Crew dress though. If I were designing a t-shirt dress, this would pretty much be it!

  16. The only reason I like the peplum blouse is that it comes in red. I am not sure it will be very flattering, though. I might try the tall size even though I generally find tall sizing to be unnecessary in a blouse like that.

  17. lol, Dickies for $265?! Is this the specter of the $800 umbrella I see before me?

  18. Agree on the Peplum. I look for these kinds of blouses to wear with cropped pants and slingbacks for "work" but I can tell the new one here is going to be too short for most trousers. Why oh why?

Agree with Tamara- I'm picking up on some Madewell styling too (slouchy pocket shorts) but it is also a trend (see magazines.)

Overall, I feel like JCrew has an identity crisis.

I do appreciate the Maxi skirt being poplin, and a straight throw back to 1970 (drawstring waist band, mini floral print, cotton and bell shape.) I think this one is a classic JCrew.

  19. woa, the maxi doesn't come in XXS or XS?

  20. I'm with you Alexis. That handbag is just what I've been looking for. I'm on a strict shopping diet, so if it is around in 30 days or so, it might just be mine.

  21. I don't see anything I will be wanting to buy. I was lucky enough to get a 20% off code a few days ago and ordered the Jane dress in olive from the last rollout, I'm very excited about that. Otherwise, like Tamara, I'm eyeing more from Madewell lately

  22. I DIE for the peplum blouse (rachel zoe-ism)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love some of the new colors (particularly the greens) but I don't see anything I'm inclined to pay full price for right now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That purse sure is pretty! I haven't had the time to peruse the rest of the catalog, unfortunately.

  25. I love the Edie bag, but don't like the top handle. There's definitely a red handbag in my future, though.

Some links to irl pics of knits/tees in this post.

  26. Is J.Crew going to bring back the grosgrain flip-flops with the fabric footbeds? I love them...super comfy.

  27. So the Coddington leather platform pumps are back and I need some sizing help. I ordered the 8.5 and they are way too small. Does anyone recommend just a half size up? My usual size is 8.5, so should I do a 9 or 9.5. Thank you so much everyone :)

  28. I just received a "Cardmembers only" email with a code for 20% off any order and free shipping! The email states:

"Cardmembers only: 20% OFF & FREE SHIPPING, just in time for new arrivals. Perk alert: Just for Cardmembers, a sale that's tailor-made for you. Enjoy 20% off and free shipping on any order of your choice through May 30th with your J.Crew Credit Card. Online only."

Cardmember perks are few and far between but I do appreciate when they make special offers available to us!

    Happy shopping!

  29. Stene - I ordered a half size up on the Coddingtons, which worked out great. :-)

  30. I just got the cardholder e-mail too. Of course I just placed a large order yesterday, but I called customer service and they applied it. She did say, though, that it was a one-time use code.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Stene, I tried the Coddingtons back in October in the store. While the size 8 (my usual size) were too tight in the toe box, the 8.5 were too long. If sizing up usually works for you, it has never worked for me, as I have a narrow heel. I have a review and photos on my blog here. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  32. Try the 9's, Stene. I too had to go 1/2 size up from my usual size.

The problem with the Coddingtons is that the front part of the shoe (housing the toe-end of your foot) is relatively short compared to the overall length. So if you size up too much you'll have the gap between the back of your foot and the back of the shoe. I'm beginning to think that the shoe might work only for people who have short-ish toes.

  33. I got the 20% email too. I have a few small things in my bag that I"m going to get. Going to re-order the Casbah shirt that I paid FP for and look at shoes. I would've normally made a big purchase, but there's not much I'm dying for at the moment on their site.

  36. Anyone notice that the description for the Edie purse says it's supposed to be a fall piece? It was in the fall preview as well. I'm surprised they're rolling it out early. I think it's interesting that it can work in both a classic, preppy J. Crew way and a hip, Madewell, Jenna-Lyons J. Crew way. Of course the latter would wear it in a more ironic, retro manner, ala Mad Men.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hmmm... just catching up.

The Edie purse is almost the exact size of the iPad. What a lovely carrying case! Flame please!

  38. JCA's - Thank you for all of the suggestions for the Coddington platform pumps. I just purchased the 9's and if they don't work I can always take them back...yay no final sale :) It sounds like it is a 50/50 chance they will work.

Tamara - my toes are long..hehe...so I don't know if they will work. Here's to trying :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Stene, when they arrive, if they don't fit quite right try them with a pad under the ball of your foot. I did that with mine and they feel great. For the record, my toes are kind of stubby. :) I wanted to buy the olive ones but they're out in my size. And I'm so so so tempted to buy the red ones because they're beautiful, but when I scrutinized my wardrobe I realized I have nothing to wear with red shoes except greys. I haven't totally ruled them out though, if a 30% off promo shoes up I'll definitely buy them.

  41. Stene - Thanks! I just read your review. Is it so big that it falls off of your shoulder? I'm thinking it would be so cute layered over perfect shirts too!
