Attention J.Crew Credit Card Holders!

"Thanks!" to Instant Fleeting who shared some very important news about an email received that affects J.Crew credit card holders:
This email was sent to you by World Financial Network National Bank (WFNNB). WFNNB issues your J. Crew Credit Card account.

I got a similar email about this, but from a different online retailer. This is actually a pretty big news story that affects customers from an array of companies (2,500+) they work with. Epsilon, the largest marketing services firm, experienced a massive email breech. There are tons of stories, including this one from CNN.

The only real solution is to make sure you monitor your email account and take note of suspicious looking emails. Do not ever open or click through links from emails you are unsure of.

Did you get this email? If so, please share! :)

  1. I got this email from Chase or Citi, can't remember which. I'm a bit of a privacy freak but this doesn't bother me so much. The credit card companies sell contact info anyway, which is completely obnoxious but the price we pay for having the cards. I would be much more concerned if account info had been accessed, but I believe them when they say it has not. Still, it's a good idea to monitor your accounts a little more closely.

  2. Yes I received this email today. Le sigh. I have considered canceling my J Crew card before but even this won't get me to do it. I just love those rewards cards too too much, and I since I buy for my entire family at J Crew it's usually a whacking good one.

Anyway this kind of stuff doesn't worry me too much. I keep a careful eye on my emails there's loads of spam out there.

  3. Got this email from 5 different companies so far...what a pain. I hope it is not a big deal as we are lead to believe.

  4. The people who need to worry are the ones who fall for the phishing scams. And unfortunately plenty of those people exist.

  5. i got this email from at least five different companies. i'm not particularly worried though. if anything seems a bit out of the ordinary, i don't click on it. and if i'm going to be entering an account number or credit card, i never go directly from an email link but always type in the real url of the site as i know it.

  6. Me too! It was actually sent to both my home and work e-mail accounts since I had to have both listed with my J Crew card (seeing as how I get skipped over on e-mails everyone else gets). Now I'm worried about my work address. I got one from Target as well. Great. It will be that much more work to filter through the junk mail.

  7. got the email from JC, Target, Chase, can't remember who else. always v. careful opening strange emails. this sounds like it was not as serious a breach as the TJX breach of a few years back, but who knows what they'll learn next week?

  8. I got a ton of theses emails from various companies. I decided to not worry about it. (shrugs)

  9. Apparently a lot of companies were affected by this. I also received a couple of emails saying basically the same thing as this one.

  10. I got this from J. Crew and another retailer I have a credit card with. Boo. Like I don't get enough spam as it is.

  11. I received the email from FNCB and then a second 'Important Note from J Crew' which is blank.

I expect the news is the same--that my email has been exposed as both a J Crew cardholder, and as a J Crew customer.

    It's irritating, but I don't think it's threatening.

  12. The second email I got from J. Crew basically was a reiteration from the CFO and an apology for the inconvenience (the first was from WFFNB). Like many others I have also gotten this from Target, LOFT, New York and Co, and maybe a couple of other retailers...

  13. I haven't seen any extra spam yet. :) In fact, I'm seeing less than usual, I think because they nabbed some guy(s) who were responsible for some huge percentage of the spam.

  14. I got this email from WFNNB for J.Crew, Express, Victoria's Secret, and NY & Co (maybe the lesson here is that I have too many store cards). In addition, Target, Ann Taylor, etc. Aggravating.

  15. We got this from Disney World where we just vacationed, and they are telling us to monitor our credit cards. Ouch!

  16. Yep, I got this from J.Crew's bank, Walgreen's (for some reason!) and Best Buy. Ridiculous. That Epsilon company ought to be sued by someone with the money and time to do it!

  17. I also got the same email from JC, Best Buy, etc. Rather annoying, but I'm hoping, nothing to worry about.

  18. yep..like a bunch of previous posters, i received this email not only from j.crew but several other retailers.

slightly alarmist at first, but after reading through til the end, doesn't seem like much to worry about. so as long as my private info stays private, i can deal w/some extra spam!

  19. I got it too--agree with others that it may not be anything to worry about, as it is just the email ids that were compromised, not account numbers. Still, better to keep a close eye on spam and account activity. It is aggravating how much of our information we give to these financial institutions, and how vulnerable that info can sometimes be...sign of our times, I guess.

  20. I got this e-mail from Chase and J Crew. The only thing I have noticed is that I have been getting a lot of employment offers for "Good Paying Job". I've been deleting them all. I hope I'm not missing out on a good paying job*L*
