"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to VENT' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. mmmm . . . love, love the ultra knit zip hoodie. I needed a replacement zip hoodie for gym and get-up-in-the-morning lounging. I got it on the extra-30 promo. SO soft. Sizes are generous. The small in this fits in between a small and medium in other old styles. Also love the dotted tulle fineline cami. A solid tts fit, not too long for shorties, beautifully lined. Finally, Waverly chinos on the promo as soft and drapey and cool as expected. Thanks J Crew for long term yummy staples!

  3. A few weeks ago I got the Stretch Bistro Pant in "stone" on (not final)sale. I had originally ordered a size 4 but when I got it it was HUGE on me, so I managed to exchange it for a 2. After getting the pants altered I finally wore it for the first time yesterday and it fits great! These will definitely be a staple in my work wardrobe.

  4. I love the new shipping route J.Crew is using for my packages. It used to take 10-14 days to get my packages from the time I got the "shipped" email. Now the route is changed although I'm still using UPS and they arrive in about a week and one was here in 4 days! Thanks J.Crew!

  5. xoxo, I wish I had that kind of shipping luck. I received a shipping notice on Monday and UPS still has not picked up the package. It used to be I'd get my package in four or five business days but it's looking like this one wil take much longer.

  6. I seriously think the Petite double serge pencil skirt was the best thing to happen to my wardrobe this season. Already picked up 3 colors on sale and considering a fourth. As someone who wears skirts pretty much 7 days a week year-round, even in the bitter NYC winters, I can appreciate how thick and warm this skirt is without adding bulk, plus it's super comfy and constructed in such a way that it will hold up for many seasons to come.

I also think the length is a happy medium based on the comments I've read here in recent months. Not too short, not too long, perfect for business but can be dressed down too. Mine hits right above the knee so it's great for the office, and I'll dress it down on a cold weekend day too with a favorite tank, an open cardigan and maybe a necklace or scarf or both.

I suppose this is why I'll be an aficionada forever, finding those fabulous basics I can't find anywhere else.

  7. jacquelyn, I saw your comment about shipping yesterday in the Vent post and I can totally relate. My packages used to take forever and sometimes went on a tour of the U.S. before heading back east and into Canada, then to travel out west here. It was annoying.

If I were in your situation I would call CS to see what is going on with your package. Perhaps they can speed things up or offer you free shipping on your next order for the inconvenience.

  8. Dara, ITA about the petite sizes on the pencil skirts. I got a cord pencil skirt in golden wood back in January and was very pleased with the fit. Mine also hits just above the knee and for someone whose skirts always end up being just a little too long, it's a wonderful thing.
I ended up buying another one in shadow just today.

  9. Dara, ITA with you on the double serge pencil skirts. I have three and I love them. A nice quality, classic design that I can wear for years.

I like the cafe capri styling options currently featured on the website (and in the catalog, IIRC). All of the different body shapes, ages and personal styles is very inspirational. I hope they make that a regular feature. I'd love to see a different basic item styled every month.

  11. Finally got my 30% off order yesterday. Love the Schoolboy Chambray Blazer from Factory! Seems just like the retail version and fits me perfect!

However, I do not love the Factory Blakely dress. It seems to run small, it fit me, but was tight, and I couldn't figure out how to get the ruffles to lay right. So that is going back. Little annoyed I have to treck out to the Factory store for that, but at least it is just 15 minutes from my work.

  12. Just some general love for J Crew's brilliant design team for coming up with such a wide variety of items that mix and match so well and can accommodate a wide range of ages and dressing styles. There aren't many brands that are equally popular with 20-somethings and 50-somethings and everyone between and on the outside of that range too! And even though I'm not a fan of bright colors for myself, it is nice to see them being offered for Spring and Summer. I know some of you are so tired of the washed out pale colors (but I still love them!).

  13. I love it when retail items from seasons past (and sometimes, current) show up on the clearance rack at the Crewlet. I just got a retail twyla tank in the color I've coveted since it came out, that pretty purplish/pink color. Not sure what the 'crew name is. And.. it was only $12. Love it!

Also, love the fact that they will send you buttons, etc. from old items if you lose yours. Now that is service.

  17. Just purchaed the navy Schoolboy Blazer (always classic) and the Dorrie skirt in Modern Red. LOVE Dorrie! TTS, quality construction, and I can wear this one to work! Hoping that it becomes a bestseller and J.Crew will drop the hemlines on more of their skirts ;)
