Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. OT: It seems J Crew Factory is offering FREE SHIPPING on all factory item! I don't know how long this offer has been arround, as I just noticed it tonight while browsing. Yay! I might bite on this one!

  2. My factory items say free shipping. Finally something J.Crew did right :)

  3. I don't plan on going, since there really isn't anything I'd actually like to see IRL, other than the Lockwood Hobo and that isn't worth the drive to me. I really wish they would come out with something different than plaid shirts, more tees, and too short dresses and skirts. At least May should see the arrival of more of the spring lookbook pieces. Hopefully the website and B&M will both be more interesting to look at then.

  4. No trip for me, mainly for the reasons FFM already mentioned. I'm looking forward to the release of the fuller, longer skirt from the lookbook.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I just took a look at the Factory section and can't believe they have everything priced so high. They really need to lower the price points or have an ongoing extra percentage off like they usually do in the Factory stores.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I have returns to make, but so hard to get myself out to the mall... we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hi FFM - ITA about the Factory price points, especially for the shoes!

I actually do recommend the Factory end-on-end camp shirt in classic navy (23870) for those that missed out on the contrast-stitch perfect shirt from last spring. I received it with the additional % off (about $34 total), and from what I remember of trying on the original, the factory version is a very close dupe - in fact, I think that the fabric is exactly the same. I'm usually a 2 or 4 in JC perfect shirts, and a S in this fit great. The XS was a little tight in the arms and the bust.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I really want to see the silk driving scarf in retro orange, but I've already been to 2 stores in my area and neither one has it. Has anyone seen it? Lots of people seem to have ordered it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I might wander over to the factory store... haven't been in a few weeks. I want the stained glass sanur dress that was marked down to $19.99 online, but I'm sure they are still asking way more than that in store. Worth checking out I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I don't think I'll be going this weekend. Got enough at the B&M factory to last me a while, and there's nothing in the stores that appeals to me right now. We're getting into that weird time of year where temps are bouncing all over the place, 24 degrees today and close to 60 tomorrow, so I need to stick with what I have for the moment. :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Kristin...I grabbed a perfect shirt in the retro orange colorway at the warehouse sale last month in Chapel Hill and It is really pretty. So if you like that print you might want to wait because I am sure they will bring the shirt out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  12. If anybody sees the crosstown tee in stores I might go to check it out, otherwise I won't be going. Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  13. To David: a shirt in that print sounds lovely! I can't wait to see it!

    ReplyDelete
  14. The Factory Store Chambray Shit with a pocket on each side on the chest is amazing. I had bought the retail one for $98 and hated how baggy it was. I usually don't go to the factory store because I prefer the marginally better quality and fit, but I was desperate for a more fitted chambray shirt and they had it! So great.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I was in the store last night to pick up a stripe button-back tee since the knit promo hit. They were already selling out of some sizes/colors in that shirt at my store. Didn't see much else that caught my eye and the store looked empty (of clothes and people). The SA told me they would be getting some new stuff in two weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  16. David - a shirt!! Wow, sounds beautiful. I saw on the website (in the lookbook section I think) that they said they used the print for several items but I've only seen the scarf online so far. How strong is the orange? On the website is looks very vibrant but in the catalog it looks muted so I'm wondering which way it really is.

Thank you so much for the information!!

  17. Doubtful for me. I'm in agreement w/FFM. Have a couple items I ordered that may go back. Do I really need the Pixie Pants? I don't think so, esp. at FP. I am also on the fence on the Costine sweaters I got for 30% last sale. They're nice, but super low cut. I'd have to wear a tank or cami under it at all times. But at $27 a piece, I may keep them.

  18. FYI -
There is a coupon in the Tanger Outlets app (for iPhone, Droid) for some outlet/factory locations. 20% off $150 purchase

It doesn't expire until the end of April.

    ReplyDelete
  19. FFM, you summed JC's current offerings up pretty well.

The only thing I'm interested in seeing IRL right now is the matte sequin top. Might swing by B&M by my office.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I posted this under yesterday's 20%, but here's what I saw (yesterday) besides 20% knits

    $10 off scarves & belts
    $20 denim
$59.59 Waverlys and cotton bell skirts
    25% select bracelets

Where there would normally be catalog shots (behind the cash registers, in the windows) there were instead huge posters promoting the "made in italy) online shoe video.

Thanks for the heads-up, Dawn! It takes a lot more than free shipping to get me interested in factory ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. WHYYYYYYYY did I even look at the factory today? There is a cotton medallion-print dress for summer that's in the Soleil paisley print (although they don't call it that).

I'm assuming the dress is unlined, and considering the photo, I'm not quite sure how the neckline will fall. But ooh, it's pretty. And my Crewlet didn't have it when I was there a few days ago.

    Urgh.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am interested in buying J crew February catalog code, if you have one and do not plan on using it, please contact me at cpitenko at gmail.com
    Thank you!

  23. Has anyone been to williamssonoma.com lately? They're doing something I find VERY interesting, Williams-Sonoma 'Reserve.' Basically you pay a $30 annual fee and you get free shipping all year long.

Now that's a great idea. I like FREE free, like BR Luxe free, better, but this is a very interesting concept! I wonder if we'll see more of this?

    ReplyDelete
  24. No trip for me this weekend, just put an order in yesterday. . . need to see how that comes out. Emma, I'll let you know how the Crosstown tee works out!

OT: Boden released a new limited edition collection this morning. I have to say that there are some beautiful pieces! Reminds me of JCrew of years ago. I've got a silk blouse and jacket in my cart that will probably be purchased before the day is over.

    ReplyDelete
  25. OK, so I had one Factory item and one regular JC item in my shopping bag but the total was below $100, and could not check out without paying shipping.

If I try to purchase the Factory item separately, shipping is free.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Amazon does 'Amazon Prime' which is something like $79 a year to get free 2-day (or is it 1-day?) shipping. I feel like I've seen this kind of thing other places too but can't recall...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Amazon prime is too $$$ for me, I don't order from there much. Maybe 3x a year. Doesn't $79 sound like a lot?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ Elaine - I purchased the cotton medallion-print dress in the Soleil paisley print! It won't ship until mid-April, but that's fine.... I won't wear it until summer, anyway. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. To Elaine re: Amazon Prime: yes, that is a lot of money but I guess some people get a LOT of things there... even regularly scheduled deliveries of beloved snacks (McVitties Hob Nobs?!) or personal care or such, so for them I suppose it's worth it. I've used it twice before when they had a free-trial-for-a-month and I just made sure to cancel a few days before the month was out (set a task reminder!!)

Sorry for getting so off topic! To be a little more on topic, I really do think I need to go to the store this weekend. I somehow accidentally ordered the solid Costine instead of the striped one I meant to order, but luckily it's not final sale so back it needs to go. Plus I ordered a small Painter cardigan in ivory, thinking I really did need/want a white-ish cardigan but man, somehow I'm NOT a white-ish cardigan girl, just looks wrong somehow. Or maybe it's the cut or fit, I don't know...

Really really want to pick up the Herringbone aged driftwood blazer this weekend... but maybe after I try it I'll need to order a petite range one.

  30. The retro orange print is VERY pretty but I would call it more of a red-orange. It is not bright or neon in any way. HTH

  31. Question/Seeking Advice:

I don't shop much at J. Crew but would like to get 3 colors of the pin-slim patent belts....does JC ever run short sales on accessories like belts? I am debating just going ahead and ordering them.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Snack deliveries via Amazon? You learn something new every day. :)

ARRRGGHHH of course now that there is no % off, the Heidi dress in the Prince of Wales plaid is *finally* back in stock in my size. I've been checking for weeks.

And if I wait, it will probably be sold out in my size again. I guess it's worth $99 but still. Decisions, decisions. Urgh.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Marietta, please let me know what you think of the dress when it arrives. I adore that print, but I didn't like the sleeves on the Soleil silk paiisley tunic. They were like...blouson. Billowy through the arm and then tight at the wrist, which was weird.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Katie, I don't remember ever seeing a promo on accessories online. However if you live near a store they often run $10 full priced belts promos. I should add that almost all the belts make it to the sale section sooner or later. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Does anyone have a 20% off coupon they arent going to use? There's a few fp items, but without a coupon it's too much. It would be very much appreciated :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. OT: I have been trying to put items in my shopping cart, but my computer won't add the items to my bag. Can anyone help? I can add items on my husband's computer, so I know something is wrong with my computer.

    TIA

  37. Continuing OT - if you are a member of amazon mom you get a free trial of prime and every 25 spent you get an extra month free

  39. @ Elaine, I signed up for the Williams-Sonoma Reserve the first day it was offered and I've already recouped my yearly fee. They also run periodic specials on certain things, like right now I think it's 10% off cutlery(not completely sure about this-just knew I wasn't interested, so I zapped the email). I use a lot of their cleaning supplies and soaps made by Caldrea, some of their cooking tools are fabulous and W-S is a great resource for those out of town wedding and birthday gifts. I just wish they'd let Pottery Barn get on the bandwagon with them.

    ReplyDelete
  40. CCS, yes Boden limited edition is quite nice! I don't love their regular line, though there were a few cute items for spring, but the limited edition pieces remind me of JC circa 2005! And the prices (aside from the sequin jacket) are like the prices of JC's regular line.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wendy, if they're sale items, they might be out of stock. That's happened to me lately. I'll try to add things and they appear to be available, but then aren't added to the cart. It's like the site isn't catching up quick enough to show it as out of stock. hth

    ReplyDelete
  42. Gigiofca,

I tried adding regular priced items and the computer won't add them to my bag. So frustrating. It is not their website either. I am not techy at all, but I researched the problem and it has to do with 'cookies'...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wendy, you might solve the problem if you clear all your cookies and temporary files.

    ReplyDelete
  44. OT- i have received 3 Feb catalogues now (including one with a code that I promptly cashed in). Funny thing is that they are all of different length. One has 55 pgs, one has 131 pgs etc. weird.

And I think I'll be headed to my b&m to return the Lyric dress. I find it isn't flattering on me/makes my chest look much too heavy. I'll report back with any new info!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Rose,

I cleared my 'cookies' and now I can add any item on the J. Crew site!

    Thank you so much!

  46. Just got back from the factory store in Waterloo, NY.

Clearance was an additional 50% off. Many items that were recently FP were on the clearance rack... like the stained glass printed sanur dress. It was marked $34.99 so with 50% off I thought it was worthwhile. I love to wear this style of dress on a ridiculously hot summer day.

This dress runs smaller than the retail versions of the past. I needed an XS in the retail so it will stay up but a small was a much better fit the factory version. The XS was way too tight. There was also another print that was still FP so if you're considering it, order your "normal" size (mine is small).

Everything in the store was on some sort of promo. Jewelry 20% off (they barely had anything).

The "Factory printed tuxedo tunic" was $24.99 plus 50% off, and I bought it. Hit just below my butt, I am 5'10". Cute with my pixie pants that I wear almost every day. The fabric is really nice.

They had a ton of retail Twyla tanks in gray, for $19.99 plus 50% off. I love the feel of the silk on those... the factory version is not nearly as nice or soft.

Shoes were 20% off but... wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole.

I spent almost $100 and I rarely buy anything factory. Everything I tried on was really cute and just as "high quality" (if you can call it that) as J.Crew's retail offerings. I was pleasantly surprised!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh, and at the factory store, they had the gorgeous retail Silk Driving Scarf (item #24826) in "modern red" for $44.50, and scarves were another 20% off. I had to resist but they had a whole basket full and I am hoping they will make it to clearance.

  48. OT, but I thought some JCAs and avid Polyvore users might like this article: http://www.fastcompany.com/1726460/fashion-site-polyvore-is-creating-an-army-of-anna-wintours

  49. I went to three NYC stores today to see if any still had the double-serge wool pencil skirts in stock, but it was a no-go. You'd think it was April by the looks of what they have on the shelves!

So I wear a size 6 in JCrew pants, but today in-store, the size 4 double-serge cotton skirt fit me best. Are the skirts usually sized like that? I just ordered both a size 4 and size 6 in the same color/style skirt online so that one will hopefully fit.

    ReplyDelete
  50. saranordmann - Next time consider calling in advance. You can get the SA to look up the style # on their computer to ensure they hit the floor looking for the right item. Not all colors show up in the b&ms so it's good to check before you go. Plus, it's a time saver, unless you like the trek for the day.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I did visit, and came out empty handed. Gap got my money, took an extra 40% off all sale merchandise. Not sure how long the promo will last. OT, but if anyone missed out on the Surf Tweed Charter Skirt, there's a nice alternative from Gap called the Metallic Skirt. The length is a bit longer and the fit is great! After the discount, the skirt was $26 :) Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Holy cow JCrewJD! I was just at my Crewlet on Monday and none of those things were on uber-promo! Good for you, but a big RAAAAAARR from me for more pricing inconsistencies. :-/

    ReplyDelete
  53. Elaine, I know. It is SO lame. Last week most of these items were still FP! I hope you didn't get totally hosed on prices and buy too much that is now on super sale.

They also had about 5 different printed perfect shirts on clearance for $24.97, which last week were FP. It's madness. I never buy factory unless it is on clearance with a hefty percent off for this reason! They are even more inconsistent than the retail side, I think.

The extra percents off are always inconsistent too. When most factory stores have extra 30, mine always has extra 20. This extra 50% off stuff is new, and total madness.

One more thing I didn't mention was the "Factory two pocket chambray shirt", item #32043. I only tried it on because someone on this blog said they loved it. I would never even consider a chambray shirt as something that I would want or wear... but I bought it. It is very fitted, and very cute. The material is pretty thick. And it was on the clearance rack for $24.97 in all sizes. So for ~$12, worth it. If anyone is considering it, try the factory B&M first if you live near one! For me, it is 10 minutes away while the retail b&m is 45... that's what living in the boonies gets you!

  54. I popped in to return a skirt. Picked up hubby a jaspe tee and 2 pairs of boxers for Valentine's day. I was going to use the red phone to order a couple of the vintage cotton tees that are on promo, but decided to wait. My budget is low this month and I'm holding out in case the new Sorbetto pencil skirt goes on promo later this month.

  55. Have a party to go to tonight and both my kids are sick so no trips for me.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I went this morning and tried some stuff on. I bought a new pair of cropped pants that aren't online yet. They come in a natural and dark gray color. Also got the striped tee that zips up the back. Only 1 left in my size.

    Promos:
tees and tanks (not all knits like online) 20% off
    all jeans $20 off
    belts $10 off
bracelets not in case 25% off
button-up suit shirts 20% off maybe?
I think there were more. My ps had a piece of paper with all of them listed - too many for even them to remember. :) I also saw the display notebook and I saw some cute items. There's going to be a liberty skirt (Dina, are you reading? :D), a blue floral button-up that looks adorable, and the confetti stripe sweater is also going to come as a dress. :) Hope it's not too short! (Or expensive!) Since it was pics of the displays, I couldn't see items well nor were prices listed. Unfortunately, I won't be here the weekend new items come in, so I'll have to depend on my ps to pull items and hang on to them until I can get there.

    ReplyDelete
  57. math teacher: ooh, a Liberty skirt? hope it's not a mini!

    ReplyDelete
  58. AppGal, it said mini, but it didn't look like a mini hanging on the rack. Again, it's hard to tell exactly what things look like, but it sure didn't look like a mini. When I saw the pic, I thought it was a pencil skirt; then my ps said it's name. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not super short.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Liberty Print Mini, Math Teacher? Yes, please. :)

Might be worth a little trip to my local.

    Thanks for the heads up!!!

Of course I just spent an amount of money at Boden Limited that may put me in a budget crunch, but I am sure I can find a way of making the mini fit my budget in March... LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  60. dinagideon, I do read your blog and knew you mentioned budget, but I was sure you'd find some way to get the liberty mini. :)

  61. Irl pics of the vintage cotton mixed lawn shirt (incl in 20% promo) in this post.

  62. OT but I think Genevieve is wearing the Atomic Tweed Mini on HGTV right now... on "A Home Office For Two" episode of her show "Dear Genevieve".

  63. OT, but I just got an e- mail from LE Canvas pushing their women's chambray officer shirt and this is an unedited copy/paste from the description:

Intended to have a relaxed, lived-in style. Arrives unpressed and minimally packaged.

    NOOOOOO

  64. The J. Crew at La Cantera in SATX is offering $10 off all belts. No additional discount on the sale section (which was very small). They had a bunch of black/white sailor stripe sweaters in the front. Give them a call if you're looking for one. Hope this helps! 210-558-1072

  65. I was at the mall yesterday and didn't stop into J. Crew for the exact reasons FFM mentioned. There is absolutely nothing I would consider adding to my wardrobe. I did stop in at Talbots and order the Tres Jolie full skirt in mink and in black. It's a gorgeous cotton/rayon blend and the shape is beautiful. Lo and behold, a skirt that actually extends beyond my mid thigh.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Since yesterday I haven't been able to add anything to my cart on the site. They can't ALL be ghost items, for 2 days running either...maybe the retail gods are trying to tell me something!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hi Desert Flower - you'll love the Tres Jolie! I picked up the mink with some Talbot's dividends and it's great. Nice to have something for the spring besides pencil skirt (which I love, but have enough of). It seems to be selling from the website quickly, which makes me think there are more people getting sick of pencils and inappropriate-for-work minis as well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Elaine, try clearing your cookies - a couple of JCA's have had this problem recently.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Can anyone comment on whether the Cashmere Cowl Neck sweater dress or the Bonfire cardigan run TTS? And also, if you've purchased, do you like these items? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Jruby18 - I think the bonfire cardigan runs one size large. It's a bulky sweater. See it on Ema and on yogagirl.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks Gigi!! I saw a woman wearing it this weekend when I was out and about. She had it paired w/black leggings and boots and it was open and I thought it looked great on her! Wouldn't have considered it otherwise, but now it's on my radar.
