J.Crew Wants to Chat With You!

A big "thanks!" to MissMasala, as well as Ashley (in this post), who let us know about an exciting new feature over at JCrew.com. Also, "thanks!" to MissMasala who shared the image below with us.
J.Crew is now offering real-time chat services with J.Crew Specialists! As customers browse the website, pop-up message appears asking if one wants to chat with a specialist. After clicking on it, a new chat window appears with a specialist waiting for you.

Other retailers, like LE Canvas, offer this service. It is a convenient way to communicate with customer service without having to use the phone (especially if you are at work!) Personally, I love it. I think it is great that J.Crew is now offering this. :)

What are your thoughts on the new update? Do you like the chat feature? Have you already used it? If so, please share your thoughts! :)

  2. I've already used this service last week, and I love it! I had wanted to order the Fleurette pencil skirt, but heard it ran small. I tried to call CS to ask for garment measurements, and the girl just gave me the basic size chart measurements for my specific size. When I pressed her for the actual garment measurements for my specific size, she got all snotty saying that was all she had for the piece.

So I hung up, and used the on-line chat. It took about 3 minutes total, and I got the measurements I needed. So easy and much more efficient IMO. It's also a big plus that the on-line CS person can't overhear my son having a tantrum in the backgound while Mommy tires to shop, too! :)

  3. Haha. Finally. Maybe we'll stop venting here if we can do it at some faceless computer-bot.

  4. Lands End has had these feature for years, it is a great tool to use, however I would prefer to see customer ratings and comments on their website.

  5. Oh this will be super handy for me, now if they would only list garment measurements the way net a porter do, ordering would be so much easier.

  6. Hi JCAs! For some reason, this post section is empty. Yet, I saw that many of you posted a comment here. Not sure why it never showed up. It looks like there was a glitch in Blogger's system last night. Hopefully now your comments will appear, and stay up now! :)

I will also re-post the comments that were made here.

  7. I used this feature the other day. I asked questions on the measurements of several items and also asked about the zipper on the Rimini cardigan. It took about the same amount of time as it would if I had called but I didn't have to be on the phone which I liked. The SA was very helpful and pleasant. I think this is a great way to ask a quick question or get some information when you're looking at the items online.

  8. I think this is a great feature. I've used it with both Talbots and LE. The only tip I would recommend is to save the reference # that they give you. I have often lost my connection when using this system and it is very frustrating to have to start all over.

  9. I'm happy to see this feature added to JCrew's website. Maybe listing garment measurements on the site will be next, which would decrease some of the calls/chats w/customer service.

  11. Can someone please tell me how they found this service? I have looked all over the site and can find no reference to it. Is it because I use a different browser?

  12. Yes, I couldn't find the chat service on the website either... Perhaps it's because I use Firefox?? Can anyone shed some light on this please? :P

  13. Ignore my last post; I found the chat feature on the top right of the window!
