J.Crew's Catalog for March 2010 {thanks FFM!}

First, we saw some pages ("thanks!" to Audreybella in the "Sneak Peek to the Latest J.Crew Catalog {thanks Audreybella!}" post). Now we can view the entire catalog. {yey!} A super big "thanks!" to FFM (in this post), who let us know she scanned the entire catalog and posted it all for us to drool over at her {great} Fabulous Florida Mommy blog (refer to her "J.Crew March 2010 Catalog Preview" post).

Several brick & mortar (B&M) stores have been putting new arrivals on their floors yesterday. A few JCAs on this blog mentioned the new March roll-out will be happening online soon (in particular, this Thursday).

What I do know is that I look forward to browsing this new catalog! :) Especially because it's so cold outside (& snowing!) I need to see better weather (which the catalog refreshingly provides with its Spring-time palette of colors & styles).

I am loving the Roses Vines Perfect Shirt (Item 23484; $78.00) on page 53. What can I say? I am a sucker for small flower prints on a button-down! :) I am also crushin' on the Reese Gladiator sandals (with & without the studs) on page 5. I love the zipper on the heel— super convenient for putting on!

What I am *not* loving still? That Silk-Linen Jumpsuit (Item 22736; $148.00) that J.Crew lovingly refers to as its "one-piece wonder" and the "jumpsuit in luxurious silk-linen (yes, you really can wear it)". ;)

Lastly, I think J.Crew's Designer Molly Carey is absolutely stunning, but she makes some over-the-top necklaces! Did you catch the one-of-a-kind bib necklace she created (on page 2 & 11)? (She is also the designer behind those one-of-a-kind necklaces from last year. Refer to the August 31st "J.Crew Accessory: One of a Kind Necklace {sold}" post.)

What are your thoughts on the latest catalog (from the selected images shown)? Are you a fan (or not a fan) of the latest styles being offered? Do you like J.Crew's use of inspirational women as models?

  1. I am wearing the perfect shirt with the rose vines print today. I really love the fabric and print in this shirt.

I am actually interested in a number of items in this catalog and I look forward to seeing the new arrivals.

  3. Thank you, FFM! That was very kind of you to do this for everyone!

I'm looking forward to seeing several pieces in person and online, esp. the jacquard collection skirt (yay a-line!), the tie-dye skirt, and the jersey knit dresses.

  4. Thanks FFM!

FYI, I went to Easton Town Center in Columbus yesterday and they had women's new arrivals on the floor. For those looking for the bateau striped boatneck top before June, they had them in all sizes there in both the camel and pewter. They also had one that, I can only assume, is in store only in a pink stripe combination.

  5. OT: I know people are excited for the JC new arrivals/catalog but I got some more info. and pictures of the new LLBEan Signature line set to launch March 15th. There are more items I want from them than JCrew. Shocking! On their regular website I have already ordered the madras tote bag they have out yesterday and had it monogrammed for free. I really miss the classic pretty style of JCrew and am tired of ruffle and embellishments. Just wanted to share.

  6. i had been really lukewarm on j. crew for awhile now. i dont' think i've bought anything for two months. there are definitely a couple things that i am very interested in.
i still have my rewards card and will definitely be putting it to use with this rollout.

  7. So refreshing to see real, inspirational women in lieu of the typical unhealthy-looking, hunched over, pigeon-toed J.Crew models (for the first few pages, anyway).

  8. I'm curious about the Saint-James.

  9. I tried on the vintage zebra stripe Blakely dress yesterday (pg. 56), which I really loved on the hanger (as did many others as only 3 were left). However, the dress did not work on me at all. The silhouette is the same as the silk taffeta Blakely dress currently on the site. The top is definitely not made to contain a larger bust, as the front was anchored strangely to create more of a very deep v-neck than a wrap silhouette. The back also bothered me in that the neck ruffle did not lay against my neck but rather two inches down and away from it. These issues will each change with individual body shape and I hope that someone can rock it, but the most unforgivable thing was the fabric. So stiff! Very thick, starchy cotton that made rustling noises as I moved. Not cool as I really wanted to love this dress. But the print is fab!

  10. Summer, I'm more interested to see what LLBSig has to offer than JC lately. I'm glad to see all the pics, but feel like I already own most of the pieces to create these looks. I will go to my B&M to check out the new arrivals but if I do any purchasing, it will probably be online (it always seems to work out that the stuff I like is online only!).

I just got an email from Cole Haan called "What Inspires You?" and it features a 'real woman'! So is this like, a trend for Spring 2010? Real people... what a concept! And you probably don't have to pay them as much as the models you usually use. ;) Seriously, though - I'm glad they didn't overstyle the real women in the JC catalog and gave them (and us) some wearable looks/ideas.

  11. Love the real women in the catalog. I look forward to the JCA catalog!! (hint, hint J.Crew.) Thanks FFM and Alexis for the sneak peek. :)

  12. Thanks FFM for taking the time to do this for us! Thanks to Alexis as well! ;)
I have to say the styling looks much cleaner in the new catalog. I like it! Love the gorgeous pregnant model.
The item I like the best is that giant necklace with the Flintstone rocks. It is in the March issue of Vogue, too, on the woman who runs the MrsO fashion blog (I am blanking on her name). It looks gorgeous on her!

  13. Thanks SO much FFM! I see there's a zebra jackie for those loving zebra print. I like the Dahlia tee and also the linen/cotton combo cardigans. Would love to see that collection tiered bomber IRL.
It's nice to see Spring things:)

  14. Thanks FFM! I have to say, this is a refreshing catalog. I am more interested in this one compared to previous seasons and I typically don't like spring as much. Makes me excited about the upcoming summer offerings.

  15. silver lining,
Last two roll outs my NC B & M has had nothing! I don't think they get very much or it comes later than most larger stores or something??? The manager looked at me like I was crazy when the last mini roll out came and everyone was talking about and showing new arrivals in stores. So I had to use the red phone to order and it was a long drawn out process just to get two items. I am keeping one and returning one. I dont' see anything in this roll out that I must have. I have a $50 gift card that I will just hang onto for a while. Maybe summer will have some cute tops. I have $30 in LLBean coupon dollars to spend as well.

  16. Hello Everyone! I'm so glad you are enjoying the catalog pics! I'm also glad to see that they've eased up a bit on the bag lady styling...much easier to get an idea of what each piece is like in this catalog. I did notice that not everything in the rollout is in the catalog, and I've posted some RL pics on my blog of a couple of them, as well as a couple pieces that are in the catalog. :)

  17. I'm running away to join the Anthro circus...this is pretty blah.

I've been shopping at jc for 12 years now, and I'm afraid I'm slowly going to start hanging up my hat.

There used to be cute stuff...

  18. Christy,
I agree completely. The new tees look awful IMO that I have seen. I used to want so much (and buy a lot at JCrew) Now I am lucky if I find one piece and the last few trips to the store have been one to zero. My hubby is happy but he says now we need Land's End stock! I have started stalking the LE Overstocks for markdowns each morning just like I used to do at JCrew!

  19. I like the long ivory and pink dress. The linen-cotton tees look nice too, some pretty colors. Other than that I don't see anything of interest. Thank you FFM and Alexis for sharing the catalog photos. Even though I have a very short wishlist it was much fun to look!

  20. Aneta -- about the zebra print dress -- did you find it fit TTS? And what is the back like, is there zip, or side zip? I'm disappointed to hear your review, I was really looking forward to this one. I may try it anyway, just in case it's fabulous on me because it does look so cute in the photo.

I just skimmed the rest of the catalogue (thanks FFM!) but will definitely be getting those gladiator sandals! Maybe the espadrilles too... :)

  21. Clicquot: My B&M only had the Black Blakely, but it is supposed to be just like the Zebra. I tried it on and would say it fits TTS. It has a side zip, but is still very difficult to get on and off. The front has a tendency to gape, but I think you can easily fix that with a hidden safety pin or some fasion tape. The fabric is a bit stiff, but this does help the ruffle collar to stand up. The faux-wrap portion in front does add a little *extra* in that area, so I'm not sure how that will look with the horizontal Zebra stripes. I do hope it turns out to look nice in the print, because the colors and pattern of the Zebra IRL are very pretty.

  22. Thanks FFM for the new catalog pics. I am seriously lusting after the zebra print dress. I adore wrap style dresses, they make the most of my (limited) assets. I just wish I could cut through some of the styling and superfluidity of embellished tees and come up with some good outfits for the fifty year old girl that I am.

  23. The bad:

This catalog is a deja vu to me, a few tees with flowers, some shorts/skirts in 2-3 signature patterns for the season... bleh.

    The good:

I can recreate these looks with items I have in my closet already and my card gets spared :)

  24. Very nice FFM! So awesome to do this! Thank you! :D

Jcrew needs to do this more often..using normal people instead of models. Love how these ladies/gents wear & mix things up!

  25. Thanks so much for sharing the catalog photos. I don't get my catalogs until the middle of the month so this is great.

I like the Liberty print shirts, very pretty.

  26. Thanks to FFM for sharing! The B & M in NC said they wouldn't have the new catalog out until Thursday. This is a great sneak preview.

I'm sort of iffy on the catalog. There are some things that I would like to see IRL before I make any judgments.

And to label some of the featured women "real women" is stretching it. Amanda Brooks and Celerie Kemble are fantastic style artiters.

I love Amanda Brooks and was happy to see her modeling the dress I bought this morning in between the craziness at the office. But anyone who has an English manor and was a muse for Tuleh doesn't count as "real". Just mho...

  27. Thanks, FFM! Loving the sneak peek!

I think I like the spring color palette - lots of pretty, soft shades. The azalea/light berry shade is just gorgeous. And I'm so glad they took a break from the crazy layering/styling of late.

Wish I could find the lipstick shade they used on many of the models! I'm on a lifelong quest to find the perfect shade of warm, tomato-ey red.

  28. Where did you guys see pictures of the LL Bean Signature items? I would love to see them. Thanks

  29. Thank you FFM for putting the time and effort into this!!

I like the idea of real people, but like Netdeva said, please, use REAL people.

Speaking of, though, got a Talbots catalog today with the same theme - several pages of real women. Guess this is the new next thing now?
