J.Crew Rewards Card {around the corner!}

A big "thanks!" to many of you, including Pamela, Lauren H., & Roxy (in this post), who shared the following news:
J.Crew has sent out the latest Rewards Card!

Also, "thanks!" to MissMasala who shared the image above of the most recent rewards card being sent to card members. :) The rewards card expires 12/15/09.

So if you are a card member, *check* your mail to see if you got your Rewards Card! :)

  1. I didn't get mine today but my husband did! You can bet I will be making use of his rewards...he doesn't shop that often so he won't miss them :) It's nice because it doesn't expire until Dec 15th. I wonder if I will also get them later.

  2. Mine was $50! This is the biggest reward J.Crew's ever given me. They've got my number, that's for sure. Just when I was having some buyers remorse over my last big purchase, and even considering returning some things, they make me want to spend even more.

    Sigh!

Now, what to get? What to get?

  3. I think the rewards card is nice but you have to spend $500 to "earn" one. And (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think all the shipping counts towards money spent on the card- I can't find that answer on my J.Crew card summary. I do love the clothes, but the rewards aren't really all that great.

I like that Banana Republic gives you $10-$20 off for every 100 points and often they'll have a double or triple points promotion so you earn rewards more quickly. They're also sent out every month instead of just once a quarter.

  4. I received my rewards card today!!!!!! That was fast, I'm usually last to receive catalogs :/

  5. Molly - aside from the "triple points" thing, BR and JC give the same rewards. JC gives $25 for every $500 you spend, and BR gives $10 for every $200 you spend, so both give 5% back. I think the points roll over from cycle to cycle (someone correct me if I'm wrong here), so in the long run it shouldn't matter whether you get a reward every $500 or every $200.

  6. Not yet in the pacific northwest. . . but I did write in to enquire on the web site and got back a message that they would be delivered before November 1.

  7. I have both the BR and JC cards, and they do give the same percent back. I actually prefer waiting for the bigger $25 or $50 cards from JC every quarter rather than getting the smaller $10 ones from BR. That way it feels more like a dent in your purchase rather than just another throw-away discount. I got mine today and am going to try to hold out for better markdowns. Several sale items have been sitting in my cart for 2 weeks now, so they're clearly not going at the current prices.

  8. I think it's obvious I don't have any math skills. But I do like that the BR card gives flat rate/free shipping and lets you stack discounts. I wish JC cardmembers got flat rate shipping at least.

  9. Has anyone purchased the Ingenue/Boulevard coat? I like the look and am considering (with the help of my rewards card) and wanted to see if anyone has purchased and has any review?

  10. I got my rewards card today and I'm on the West Coast (Pacific NW)....don't know what I'm gonna spend it on yet, as I think my JC quota has been met, but I'm jonesing for something in the "jalapeno" color...

  11. Twiga - I just received my order of the Ingenue and the Station coat. The Ingenue is going back. Love the double cloth fabric, but I couldn't get the collar to look right, and it was hard to tie the belt right because the fabric was so thick. The Station I love though!!

  12. Twiga (again) - I tried the Boulevard on in the store and it was super cute and flattering. Unfortunately the sizing didn't work for me because I have broad shoulders and was between sizes for the perfect fit. I would definitely recommend it over the Ingenue.

  13. Just think though...you had to spend $1,000 just to get $50. I know- better than nothing....but...I find other major credit cards give bigger and better rewards....now if there were more perks to the JCrew card such as free shipping like Banana, GAP, and Old Navy who also have rewards then it might be worth looking into...as it stands the JCrew card is not worth it.

  14. I received my 1st ever Rewards card yesterday for $25. I haven't been a cardholder for all that long, so I was SO EXCITED to see it in my mailbox.

  15. I haven't received mine even though I know I earned enough points. Just curious (although I'm not panicking yet): has anyone ever not received one and had to call CS?

  16. Summer - What other "major" credit cards are you referring to that give out such better rewards? J.Crew is exactly on par with other retail-specific credit cards - virtually every competitor of J.Crew's that has a store-specific card gives back 5%.

I wish people would stop with the comparisons to the ON, BR, and Gap cards. Yes, you get flat rate shipping, but that's for all customers; it's not a cardholder perk. In addition, for Gap and BR, you have be upgraded to the premium-level card to get free shipping with no minimum (which involves spending $800+ PER YEAR (your status doesn't automatically rollover), although some people have mentioned that they have a "lifetime" upgrade)). Otherwise, the free shipping as a cardholder is on orders of $100 or more.

I know that's more than J.Crew offers its cardholders, but J.Crew also offers non-cardholders free shipping almost all the time (check this blog - there's almost always a free shipping code available). I know from my store promotion e-mails that Gap rarely offers free shipping to everyone, and I don't recall the last time I saw a free shipping for all with no minimum.

  17. Thanks Coutney-Joy for the coat advice!

  18. Lauren - last time I did not get my rewards card and I called and was able to use my rewards card - I think they had to call the bank or something but it wasn't that big of a deal - just on hold for a minute or 2. I did finally much later get my card in the mail.

  20. Jenny,
The major card I was referring to is my VISA that has amazing perks. Better to use it for my JCrew purchases than some silly JCRew card! As far as ON, BR and GAP I always get free shipping sometimes with my card and sometimes without but there are codes to be found for those who want to look....also the minimums to get free shipping are low for me $50-75 not hundreds like JCrew...

  21. I got mine but it is smaller than I expected. Better than nothing though!

  22. Just got my JC rewards card. I have to do a return this week anyways, so, I 'll checkout what's available, but, not gonna buy anything not on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You can use your card online even if you don't have it in hand. The CS rep can look it up and apply it. No waiting needed if you want something online.

    ReplyDelete
  24. By "card" I mean rewards card of course:) but just to clarify:)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can you use the rewards card at the outlet too? I was the reading the back of mine and it just says it must be used in conjunction with the J Crew credit card.

(And to the poster that asked whether the points rollover - they do. The last time I received a rewards card was last fall: so it took me a full year to accumulate a reward due to putting myself on a budget!)

Regarding other cards being better: I may be wrong, but don't most VISAS, American Express cards, etc that offer perks have an annual fee?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Pink Maple,
No, my Visa is completely and totally free with my perks. I have two others I use depending on what I am buying and they are FREE as well. No annual or hidden fees of any kinds. But, then again, I have a super high credit rating:)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I always pay off my balance in full each month.

Also, I am pretty sure that you cannot use your rewards card at outlets just call and double check.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Summer - what percentage do you get back on your VISA? More than 5%?
