  1. Lots of ruffles and pale colors, other stores have beautiful jewel tones for Fall. Some nice stuff but I was expecting more, looks like what I am interested in is in the stores 4.5 hrs plus border crossing to go to a small store.

  2. Off topic: Website's sale section updated already. Happy shopping! :)

  3. Gorgeous! My cart is sitting at $815. Boo

  4. Well, we knew they would they would update the sale section as soon as the 20% was over. :(

  5. HeidiG,
I noticed that! What gives? What retailer updates AFTER a sale???

  6. Despite the ruffles and embellishment, this release feels very buttoned up to me. Very conservative. I would have liked to see some lower scoops on the layering tees and dresses and I am completely over the shrunken fit on cardigans. The cashmere sweaters and herringbone tights are the most tempting items for me atm.

  7. Yay! Happy to see some more color, and new designs.

    OT, (and a re-post), *but*

    I am desperately looking for:

Cafe Capris, size 2, stone, brit. khaki, and/or black

--I ordered a size too small and now the 2's are sold out!!

I have black and khaki in size 0, if anyone is interested in a trade (or purchase). Thanks!!

  8. Ooooh...I'm in love with a lot of stuff. But just ordered the Pilar dress, the black/white flower tee, and the herringbone bucket hat for now. I think I'm done for the fall, but I will be drooling over everything else!

  9. I may be alone here, but I LOVE the new arrivals! Sure there are things that don't quite "do it" for me, but I found several items that I think are exquisite. I love the muted-but-saturated colors and the vintage feel contrasted with menswear inspired pieces. Oh I am so excited for the KOP JCA event next week!

    ReplyDelete
  10. AppGal--thanks for pointing out the bucket hat--I hadn't noticed it the first time. It's cute! A good way to get something fun without spending too much. The copper color is lovely.

I like the collection overall, especially the Blushed Tweed Collier Jacket and matching skirt. I wish I could just order them, but alas they'll just have to remain coveted objects. Everyone needs something to pine after, after all. If I got those, I'd just start pining after something else. But the jacket and skirt are some of the prettiest things I've seen J Crew sell in a while.

  11. Too many ruffles on jackets and sweaters again. I do LOVE the Winnie stadium jacket in yellow. What a great looking jacket and color. I also love the perfect pencil skirts. Need to hold out for now. Great eye candy. My husband calls J. Crew, J. Cruel for always making such great looking stuff to torment everyone with! J. Cruel, you rock!

  12. Looks good for fall. The men's section has so much in gray and charcoal. I seriously looking at two items; the Merino shawl-collar sweater in indigo and the Youngstown flannel shirt in blue. Nothing like a great blue top to go with all the charcoal I've been getting.

It's pretty clear what worked from last season as they brought many of them back again. It makes me feel good to see something I paid full pop for return the next year.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have mixed feelings. My first reaction was "I love everything". My second reaction was "nothing that I really have to have", not even the tweed jacket, but I am still wondering where Teen Vogue got those very nice pins that they attached to the jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I really like a lot of the new arrivals, but as usual, I am disappointed that they did not offer more of the blouses in petite sizes. However, the new jackets look lovely - and those ARE available in petite - whoop whoop! I'm really excited for the upcoming week to see some of the newer items reviewed on blogs. I am probably going to hold out on ordering anything right now because I just placed an order for the school boy blazer (so excited!)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like the ruffle rose and Pilar dresses, although they resemble half my current closet. I'm a creature of habit, what can I say? AppGal, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on Pilar!

Not much else I really covet, some of the shoes are really pretty, and the small tweaks on the sweaters add some interest, like putting a ruffle on the v-neck cashmere. The Dream shawl cardi is a nice trend for JC to be on top of, I like the flowy. On the whole, I feel like this is more ruffles, more tees with appliqued flowers, and the last year's sweater dresses with different sleeve lengths. Overall, a pretty, cozy selection with nice colors, but nothing wildly new or exciting. (States the girl with fifty versions of the same jersey dress!)

PS: Whose idea was was it to sew a ten pound stone "necklace" onto a wafer thin tissue tee?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm probably one of the few who feels this way but I am really disappointed. There are only so many ruffle items I want to own and it seems like a lot of the new items have some sort of ruffle component. I do like some of the new jackets though. I guess I'm also not wild about the toothpick look so much, I'm a little bigger and those type of items never seem to look right on me. I do like the color choices they have used. I haven't received my new catalog yet, maybe today.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You know I was loving the wool ruffle jacket until I noticed that all the ruffle detail is unfinished and looks like it's unraveling. Does anyone else feel the same way? Why would they ruin a perfectly cute jacket like that?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I need a JCA event at the Tucson store so I can get some % off on my extensive wish list. Where's Jacqueline? We need to combine forces and call and ask them to do one! I am in love with the perfect pencil skirt, I will buy multiple colors. There are a few tops and sweaters on my list as well. And shoes!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I ordered a few items- the frances cami in herringbone, the ocelot cardi, and the wool ruffle jacket in graphite. After looking at everything, these were really the only 3 things that I had to try... I was temped by the chimera jacket but it looks too much like my astrids from last year-which I adore! I did LOVE the winnie coat in yellow-so cute! but cannot justify another coat or anything I cannot wear to work.
I love hearing what everyone else thinks of the rollout.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ^LOL-that stone necklace tee..my thoughts exactly!!

BTW the Casette-Marcel Tweed Jacket is in the sale section size 0 still $380 but I know last year it came and went in a day.

Going to check out the new arrivals now---I am pacing myself--and can feel the anticipation as I head there now:)

  21. Haven't received the new catalog yet (love the cover photo, BTW...it's kind of reminiscent of the classic J. Crew that many of us love). While I wasn't overwhelmed by a lot of the new arrivals, here are the pieces that I might pick up later on sale: Printed antique-ruffle top (love that burgundy color!), Cotton-silk medallion perfect shirt, Slub cotton embroidered flowers tee (saw this one in a B&M last week, and liked it), Blushed tweed pencil skirt (yummy good), Gold coin skirt (wish it were knee length, however), and the Galaxy ribbon-and-chain necklace. Like others, I am bored by all of the ruffles. I'm drowning in ruffles!!!! Menswear looks nice, especially the Cotton rib sweater-jacket.

  22. What fun! I LOVE thier new catalog section....very cool.
UGH, I'm dieing to shop, but I'm holding out for the campo bag!

    ReplyDelete
  23. desert flower, I'd be up for an event. The only problem is the Tucson store does not carry size 14 (which I need for those lovely pencil skirts), but if they let me use a discount on the red phone, that would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Any ideas on how the silk chiffon ruffle cami #18934 might fit this time around? With the zipper, I am thinking it is less of a 'tenk' this season. The description they wrote does not mention the fit. I know, I am about ruffled out, but am needing that aubergine color for some reason.

  25. I only like a few things so far, but I know as soon as I go visit a store, I'll have a new wishlist.

Alexis - what do you like so far?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Also, I really like the Aubergine, Toffee, and Copper colors. The rest are so meh.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I saw some of the new arrivals yesterday. I don't know. I am not feeling the distressed look anymore. There was a beautiful little ringspun tee with a big flower that I loved until I saw the hem was completely frayed.

I saw the mohair sweaters as well. Gorgeous colors but they felt a little itchy and they shed.

I think the only thing I liked was the new ripstop pants and my kids were not about to let me try them on. There were some darling graphic tees but they were all the same color - gray.

I love the guava color in the dream sweaters. I wonder what it looks like in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Love the olive felted wool bistro mini, but it's only 15.5 inches long (the one no the model is much longer than that)! By the time you size up to get extra length, the waist would be entirely too large. Surely this is the shortest J. Crew has gone with their minis.

I also love the colors of the mohair souffle cardigan, but, sadly, it's obviously tissue thin. I refuse to buy any more wafer thin sweaters from J. Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ooh, maybe the "it" jacket is that schoolboy one. In that case I'm set with my legacy blazer.

I have a beef with J. crew. They have not sent me a catalog in ages. I spent a ridiculous amount of money there last year. Nothing this year (been pregnant) but don't they want my business?? Even a little?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Pencil skirts and the new jackets swoon....

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thomas Mason Tuxedo blouse went up and there's only a size 6 left!

The Fall answer to the Rolling Ruffles tank is called the "Silk Brulee" appears to be a train wreck with a bottom heavy fit.

I like the Herringbone Frances but it looks so see-through! And what is up with all of the see-through sweaters? I just don't understand why all the FALL fabrics are so thin!?
There really are several pieces that are a hot mess. It's like the design process was there but the execution leaves little to be desired.
See: Fleur-de-lis Cardi--does someone really want that large silver design right there?? Cashmere Shirred Popover that looks like someone pulled the string on her tall kitchen bag
Wool Ruffle Jacket looks like a grade-school fashion design project
    Boiled Wool Regalia Jacket=hanging disaster
LONG double breasted sweater vest-many 6 ft/sz zero out there??
Tissue Stone Tee "hold your head up--whoa! Hold your head up--whoa! HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH! (Am I aging myself with that song?) I agree with others on the tees. They are just trying TOO hard now with all of the embellishments and they are not really turning out much greatness.

I agree there are some nice, basic pieces for an office--shirts and dresses.Tuxedo Beach Tunic-very nice. Stretch flannel del pelato shift dress-gorgeous but Isabel is better for long-term.

Love the wool Professor but it is fitting the model almost exactly like it fits me. I doubt I can layer too much or this will lose it's desirable fit.

Was hoping the Mohair cardis would be long and bigger not tiny and fitted (and see-through!) Maybe winter will bring a version such as this.
I don't love the color choices all that much--that bright avocado green and copper channels a 70's kitchen.

Pilar Jersey dress is pretty for those who mentioned it--hope you LUV it:)
I LUV Blushed Collier Tweed Blazer it is DARLING IMO--don't know about fit. Someone report back if they try it/buy it-pretty please:O)
I do love the Lexi and Campo bags although the Campo looks like staying on the shoulder could be troublesome--can any provide feedback? What about leather oin Lexi--is is stiffer than it appears or buttery, lusciousness??

  32. I already purchased the gray perfect pencil skirt and really want the plum too.

I may take me Francis cami back and get one of the striped shirts instead. I think I I would end up using the shirt more for the weekends. The cami just seems a little too precious to me.

I did notice the paisly cotton shirt in pumpkin. I purchased the same or a very similar patterning in gold/gray/plum last Friday. It looks great with the gray pencil skirt, but may be store only since I don't see it in this rollout.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I actually like the design of the stone necklace tee, but would have a hard time paying $125 due to the tissue aspect--too prone to destruction. Might buy for like $60. I have about $1100 worth of stuff in my cart--might take the plunge to try stuff on and then return what I don't *love.* Since they don't have my size in the store on most items this is how I have to do it to avoid later final sale mishaps.

p.s. Someone needs to get whoever writes the product descriptions a thesaurus. You could make a drinking game out of the number of times they use the word "obsessed" and "swoon."

    ReplyDelete
  34. I really need new sweaters and am disappointed in the selection. The mohair cardi looks like a cardi my father had in the 60s. I just can't do the military thing. And I won't buy another dream sweater. So I'm looking at the jackets, which I need like a hole in the head (I bought 12 last year with all the markdowns--literally can't fit another in my closet). But there are a couple of darling ones. I expect I'll cave.

Does the blushed tweed skirt look HUGE to anyone else? I have such trouble with their sizing and would be hesitant to order another 0 that I would have to get majorly tailored. I'm not sure I'd trust my tailor with this one.

Big thanks to huddyma and jcbellemarie for the sneak peeks, and to everyone who so graciously shares IRL pics. I'm looking forward to seeing them!

    ReplyDelete
  35. btw what colors would you style the plum pencil skirt with, other than black? Kind of want it but not sure what I would wear it with.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Cass,

My slim stretch shirt in sandstone and white goes well with my plum skirt. Also my heather purple cashmere crewneck & liberty shirts from last year. It's really versatile.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Cass, I was literally laughing in my cube over your suggestion of getting the copywriter a thesaurus.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Disappointed that less than half of the new jackets come in tall. So, I guess I won't be getting any of those. I can't believe they wouldn't make something as basic as the herringbone professor blazer in tall!

I already got the perfect pencil in pearl gray. I know some have said to size down, but I got the same size as I did in the double serge pencil skirt last year and it fits perfectly.

Looking at the item page for this year's perfect pencil and comparing it with the page for last year's double serge, I like the styling/colors from last year so much better. So bright, and no weird ankle boots with rolled down stockings like Mama wore on Mama's family!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks Em for your sizing info on the double-serge pencil in grey. Can anyone comment on the fit of the plum? TTS? SU? SD?

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am loving the pencil skirts - already bought the Perfect Pencil in pearl grey & fresh plum, the Blushed Tweed, & the rosebud Wool Pencil skirt. I also noticed what looks like a black version of the MO skirt (on the page with the Fishnet Anklets # 19212). Emailed my PS to get info on that one.

Of course there are items that I just "don't get", but, there are several that I am loving, and will purchase at some point:

    Printed antique-ruffle top
    Frances stripe ruffled tuxedo shirt
    Ruffle-front Liberty Art perfect shirt
    Wool herringbone professor blazer
    Wool harbor peacoat
    Rebekah perforated-leather platform Mary Janes
    Midnight crystal ring

Overall, I think they did a pretty good job with this rollout! Can't wait to get the catalog so I can look through it all again!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jenn - I noticed the same unraveling with the wool ruffle jacket.... why would anyone pay that kind of $$$$ for that?

    ReplyDelete
  42. ShuLvr - I'm with Em on this one, I also got the same size as I did in the double serge pencil skirt last year and it fits great.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Classic Chanel jackets feature frayed hems and they cost several hundred times more. I like them better than the frayed jacket J. Crew is offering though. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks for the plum skirt sizing info Marietta! I checked out that black tweed skirt and it looks a lot like the python pencil from last year, without the sparkle and just a bit darker. I'm on the fence on the blush tweed, the color combo is not something I would normally choose but I really love J.Crew pencil skirts so may cave eventually, if it doesn't sell out.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I ordered the pencil skirt in petite in fresh plum, it'll be replacing the regular-sized one I bought at the store. Much prefer the petite length.

Length is what's holding me back from the blushed tweed skirt - 24.5 is 4.5 more than I desire, and since J.Crew doesn't offer it in petite.... J.Crew's loss.

I'm not the world's biggest ruffle fan, and it seems J.Crew, for over a year now, is ruffles, ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles ...

    ReplyDelete
  46. La Belle Helene-- When you purchase a petite skirt, do you need to go up a size from the regular fit? I am 5'3", and I am thinking I'd prefer the skirt in a petite length. If I normally get a 2, should I order a 4 in Petite?
    Thanks for your advice!

    ReplyDelete
  47. JaneKSass - yes, you should order up one when getting petites. I, too, am a 2 regular, so when I order petite I get a 4P. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  48. JaneKSass, yes, I order up one size from my regular size when converting to petites :-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I am eyeing the stadium-cloth winnie jacket. The only problem is I can't decide between the yellow or the navy!

    ReplyDelete
  50. So I managed to get off the crewlade and pare down my order to only get those things I foresee myself wearing in the next month, i.e. no wool jackets etc. I went to B&M over lunch to order from red phone. Interestingly, when the guy gave me my total, it sounded a little high so I said, that with free shipping right? And he said, no if you want free shipping I need to speak with a store associate. It used to be automatic!

Also, my 2 cents on the perfect pencil skirt is that fits exactly the same as the double serge.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Love love love the new sweaters and jackets! I bought the dream shawl cardigan in balck at my B&M 2weeks ago. Its very versatile and soo soft.
Its a bummer that its 103 outside where I live! No joke- 103 at 1045am. I don't think I'll be wearing a sweater anytime soon!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I agree with so many fellow JCAs that it's hard to be specific....

Love the pencil skirts, but not wild about the super short minis. I really wish the Michelle O. tweed skirt came in petites. It looked so great on her in the Vogue photo (anyone else wonder why JCrew took it off the site?), but she's obviously taller than the average JCA.

Oddly enough, we seem to be looking at 2 different versions of vintage American fashion in this season. Long tailored pencils from the late 50s early 60s & super short minis from the late 60s / early 70s. Also, the shoes are sooooo chic w. a decided retro vibe.

Lovin' many of the coats & jackets as well, most esp. the Carlin coat & nouvelle jacket. I have tried to love the boyfriend jackets, but they just don't fit. A little too tailored for a curvy gal like me I'm afraid.

Absolutely agree about the tees. I'm not big on frou-frou on top to begin with. Even less keen to spend $$$$ on a tee that may fall apart after just a few wearings.

    Even so, I', very glad to see this new items. Now I have visuals to help motivate me to save my pennies :}

    Hope y'all find something fab,

    Heather:D

  54. Like Em, I'm disappointed that the professor blazer does not come in tall.

Price points seem to be on the high side on many of the new items.

    ReplyDelete
  55. In love with the new cashmere shawl popover (18190) and the textured jersey satin-trim tee (18110).

  56. Just got back from checking out the new arrivals at my B&M. All in all I was more impressed with fall rollout 1, although I did pick up the new felted wool mini in gray. This is, indeed, shorter than typical. I considered sizing up, then remembered how my felted wool mini from last year stretched out the more I wore it so I ended up taking my usual size. It is very cute, I have to say. If it were a little longer and therefore work appropriate, I would likely buy the ivory and the black now too but instead I'll wait for sale...

Also checked out the perfect pencil skirt in dusty blossom and I'm totally confused! It was hanging in a bin with all the other perfect pencil skirts, but it's a totally different weight and fabric! (Lighter/thinner - looks more like summer than fall IMO.) Glad I didn't pull the trigger online before seeing it. Odd.

The blushed tweed pencil skirt is LOVELY in person. Couldn't find my size so I haven't tried this one on yet, but I expect I'll be going back for it soon.

Also finally got around to trying on the Velvet Eden blazer. It's sooo pretty and I love the dusty blossom color but I don't know, it made me look wide and dumpy due to the boxy cut. Wanted to love it but I'm afraid it's a pass. I'm short and slender so I thought this would be perfect on me... No idea what body type they had in mind when they designed this. Maybe if I'd tried it with a tank underneath instead of tossing it on over my Jackie, it might have looked better?

Lastly, tried on the Vintage Matchstick jeans. I sized down, not once but twice. No matter what size I tried, they were big in the waist/butt/legs yet totally tapered at the ankles. Hmmm. I really wanted to love these as I am dying for a pair of J.Crew jeans in a relaxed denim (but not necessarily relaxed fit) without any spandex in them. The search continues.

One item I did not try on, but intend to next time, was the shirred wool skirt. The SA who helped me was raving about how gorgeous it looks on - he suggested wearing it high on the waist and belted which I think would be very cute.

Last thing - saw the sherpa vest in the antique stone color - GORGEOUS color!

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Carlin coat is gorgeous! Price is steep but lust lust lust, I don't think I've ever thought pink could look that good.

    ReplyDelete
  58. There are several items I love:
    1. felted wool bistro mini in olive
    2. tweed collier jacket
    3. tweed pencil skirt
    4. Stadium-cloth Winnie jacket in yellow
And still pining over from the last rollout:
    5. scattered petals tank
    6. stretch wool marissa jacket
    7. toothpick ankle cord in dark aubergine

but that brings my shopping cart to $1,181.50! I am losing my job next month so unfortunately, I cannot indulge now. Plus several of these items would be for work of which I won't need for awhile (but hopefully not that long!)

  60. Has anyone else checked out the "style tips for fall" from the home page? I have to laugh at the suggestion to wear a man's shirt half-untucked. That just sounds silly, looks sloppy and if I showed up styled that way people would think I had either lost it or was drunk.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It looks as though some new items have been added to the collection page, including the Colleen flats and heels and tweed ballet flats in the same blush as the skirt and a grey like the skirt Marietta mentioned. I notice more shoes with leather upper, lining and sole with this rollout. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anyone else notice the Luciana Lace Heels are already showing up in the final sale section? Weird. They are regular $298, on sale for $258. Hm.

The Eden also made me look dumpy. The cut is soo boxy, I hate it, because it is so cute on the hanger. I'm hoping maybe when I can get my hands on a tall it will fit better.

  63. I'm headed to my b&m on Saturday morning and hoping to see several items, including: pilar dress, paisley perfect shirt (especially in gold, gray, and plum as kitsmommy said), textured jersey satin trim tee, and long sleeve swirling flowers tee. I've already tried on and know that I love the ocelet cardi and perfect pencil skirt. I could be in trouble on Saturday - I need to go in with a pre-determined amount to spend. :) Of course, my luck is that my b&m will only have 1 or 2 of these items.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hey dickfiddy,

Yes, I also thought that look was a little sloppy.

They tried the same thing last year w. the styling for the fall / winter catalogue photos. One memorable look had a lovely young lady in a man's shirt & cut off sweats with a collection coat & heels. She ended up looking like she ran out of a burning building after grabbing the first clothes in the hall closet. Not a look that would inspire confidence in my students. I'm certain that some young ladies could "Make it Work"... Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

On the plus side, suggestion #3 really shows off the new pencil skirt. I think I would try a different colour for the sweater & fewer accessories. However, the rest of the outfit looks great!

    I think I'll stick to buying from the women's side of the store for now :}

Hope you find something you love,

    Heather:D

  65. Just got back from Marlton B&M. It's all falled out.

    Love everything.

The mohair sweaters are gorgeous. And I love the crinkle shirts. They're kind of sparkly. They had a really cool lavendar color that I haven't seen online, but I think I'm going to go with navy. They're really pushing the tights. But at almost 30 bucks a pop, I think I will getting them elsewhere. I love textured tights. I've been wearing them for years.

And they did get rid of Crewcuts. I thought so last week. I took a walk around the whole store today and that section is gone.

  66. I have an update from a visit to the Factory Store...it's on my way home on Tuesdays/Thursdays, so I always stop in :) And, the folks in the Leesburg, VA outlet are super super nice! Anyways, lots of really nice finds from last fall...I bought a bunch of stuff :)

-Greta Coat in the Houndstooth pattern in a light grey -- it's so cute and I LOVED the grey with the white buttons!
-Berry Trim Astrid Jacket in Plum and Charcoal
-Cotton Pencil Skirt in the Watercolor Lydia pattern (BEAUTIFUL!). They also have a Madeline Ruffle Dress in this pattern.
-Herringbone Wool Skirt (Light Brown with scattered Honey Glaze stripes)
-Double Serge Wool Pencil Skirts in Black and White.
-Victoria Ruffle Shirts in White and Black (they also had some of the grey and blue stripes left from last week)
-Bunch of Rosette Belts and Colored Tights
-Cashmere Cardigans in last year's colors - Honey Glaze, Royal Violet, etc.

    Hope this helps!
    Priya

  67. kitsmommy, can you give me the item # on the gold, gray, and plum shirt? I called my b&m, but that description didn't ring any bells with the sa. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I loooovvvveeeee the blush tweed set. Alas, out of my price range. I'm also intrigued by the olive top. I think it would be an interesting look tucked into an oversize pencil skirt belted at the natural waist. Or it could look horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I dropped by my b&m today (cherry hill) - wasn't in love with anything I saw or tried on... especially not the silk tiered cami. I tried in on in deep aubergine and it was a hot mess. I looked like a purple people eater - too much volume and despite it being a zipper up, it was really boxy looking from the layers. It was a definite pass for me. I ended up ordering a perfect pencil skirt in fresh plum since they didn't have that color in my store. Other than that, I was a bigger fan of the first roll-out for the Fall.

  70. I LOVE all the new stuff. My favorites:
    1. Metropolitan suede boot - perfect height, perfect heel
    2. Cambridge cable long cardigan - I think this will look adorable with leggings
    3. Antique gold manor necklace - going to wear this with my LBD to a wedding, then can wear it more casually too
    4. Dream shawl cardigan - loved this in the store-only pale grey color
    5. Frances striped ruffled tuxedo shirt - so cute with dark skinny jeans

Going tomorrow to check out in-store - can't wait!

  71. OT - On my way home from work I stopped into Tristan and Lacoste. Both have a lot of bright colors for fall, Lacoste is mostly blues and turquoise, a really cute turq mini and similar style in a dress. A few nice sweaters, as always. Some very soft and thick wool/cashmere scarves too. Tristan had the tiered cami in a rich red, as well as quite a few things in the fresh plum color: stretch tissue turtles with shirring at the center neckline, blouses, dresses, sweaters, etc. SAs said that fall merch is just starting to roll in. Thought I'd mention it in case people aren't seeing what they want at J.Crew.

I really like the J.Crew Carlin coat but the colors don't thrill me and I don't need yet another black 3/4 length coat. Love the blue Camino coat but I'm one of those who also doesn't like the big snaps. Somehow it seems to cheapen the look. Maybe it's just me.

  73. I'm thinking about getting the Sherpa puffer jacket, but I'm wondering how warm they are? Up to what temperatures outside could you wear it? I don't think they're going to stock it at my California b&m but I'm moving to Chicago.

If I got my normal size, would there be room underneath for sweaters?

  74. Math teacher,

The style number is 17411 and the color code is gray.

  75. Priya,

Is the white double serge skirt like last year's model? Is it pure white or off white? Did they have any other colors?

    Thanks!

    Math Teacher,

That color code should read "GRA." It checked the pumpkin online and it is the same number. Hopefully, you can do a we can find it if your B&M does not have it. This color combo is stunning and looks very similar to the other new liberty print shirt.

  76. Elizabeth - I haven't yet tried on this season's, but I have 2 puffers, a long one from last year and a short one from several years ago, and they are all I wear in the dead of winter in NYC because they're so warm. It's actually surprising how warm they are because they're not overly thick or bulky. I take my normal size and find that my sweaters fit well underneath, although I don't tend to wear anything heavier than a cardigan and a tank top generally.

I saw the antique stone puffer in store yesterday and it is absolutely gorgeous!

  78. kitsmommy - thanks so much! If my b&m doesn't have it, I will definitely do a we will find it. Did it fit TTS (just in case my b&m doesn't have the other either)? Thanks again for your help.

  79. There's nothing like a B&M to get the sizing right and find out what colors REALLY look like! Sadly, the enchanting wool ruffle jacket #17863 is catalog only! Can't wait to read a real life review.

Got the also-enchanting wool pleated-silk chimera jacket which bit into most of my so-called budget. Warning! The catalog color is wrong for the "dusty blossom" p. 48--looks ivory in the catalog. It's really peach; the web color is closer to real life. For the cascading flowers jacket lovers, this is in that camp, but less "out there" with the soft pleated silk. Dusty blossom was very flattering for any complexion, BTW.

Also got the mohair sweater--would've loved each and EVERY color. Softest mohair (actually a blend) I've ever put on my arms. However, I sized up. I'm ALWAYS a medium, but it was too tight-looking.

The Michelle O tweed pencil skirt was lush material, but also ran big; I passed, but loved it.

    Happy shopping, all!

  80. I feel the shirt is TTS. I wear a 4 in 90% of my JC shirts and this is perfect. It is slim and fitted, but not skimpy.

  81. Thanks. I have to be careful with button-ups b/c I have a C chest and don't want gaping. Hopefully, they'll have one of them and I'll be able to try it on. Thanks again!

  82. Cass - Plum Serge Skirt

If you're still looking for styling ideas, I am planning on buying one, in a petite size (sooo thrilled about this).

I think this color would look great with deep chocolate brown or navy, paired with chunky gold or silver jewelry.

I hope you enjoy the skirt!

  83. I was excited to see the new catalog and take a peek at the new arrivals, and made a quick stop to my B&M to return a pair of pants. Noticing that the pants were a bit rumpled and lacked tags, the SA asked if I had worn the pants. I thought "of course I have, that's how I know they don't fit and am returning them," and answers "yes". She then pointed out Jcrew's return policy and how they can't accept worn clothing and will have to throw the pants away because they are now defective. She still offered to refund my creditcard, which I took her up on on, with a frown. I've been shopping at this location for years and have never been asked about "worn" status of my returns before. For all of you with experience returning clothing to Jcrew, is this a common question or does this issue rear up when you are without tagged returns?

I felt a little burnt that I "defected" the clothing and now no one can enjoy the pants. I'm so bummed that I forgot the catalog in the car and am just reading the JCA blog and looking at the Jcrew site. Very bummed as it is my usual B&M.

  84. Love the mohair cardigans...although when you look at the back view of the model, you realize how thin they must be because you see her shirt all bunched up, Maybe with a snug fitting long sleeved t. But very pretty! Can't wait to hear IRL!

  85. Jacqueline, we need to find out if they'll do one. I'll spread the word, you can announce on your blog! They do let you use that discount on the red phone. I know a lot of what I want won't be in the store so I'd need to order too. We could have a Tucson event!!

  87. Hi kitsmommy,

I think the double serge skirt was a white, not an ivory. I'm pretty sure it looked like the ones from last year...I didn't buy any so can't say for sure. I looked at them pretty quickly. The only colors I saw were black and white.

    Thanks!

  88. monogram girl - the mohair cardigans are VERY thin and loosely knit. The online picture accurately reflects what it looks like in person. Not sure how warm they would be but they were very soft - a long-sleeve shirt would definitely make it more wearable as the weather gets cooler. i liked the guava color the most but there were only two left, neither of which were my size.

cyclone - are you saying you wore the pants out for a day or two and then returned them? i haven't/wouldn't done that, no. But if you mean that you wore in them insofar as trying them on at home and maybe making a few laps around your place, then i think that's reasonable. beyond that, I personally don't think that clothing that's been worn should be returned unless it's defective (i.e. - pilling issues, holes in cashmere after 1 or 2 wears, etc.)

  89. I am very against the idea of returning worn items which do not have defects. I support enforcement of jcrew's policy of not accepting those items. During the past year, some items I bought online were altered, some smelled, some with obvious deodorant marks, some with obvious pilling. I was getting those items because customers who returned them did not tell jcrew they were worn returns. Then jcrew resold them to other customers who believed every items sold by jcrew are at least unworn although may be defective sometimes.

  90. I like alot of the new stuff. I can afford only so much though. The Jules pearlized patent heels are a personal favorite but at $278.00, I need to wait for a major sale. I did purchase the Slub cotton silk streamers henley,( I know its thin but in So. Cal. that all you need)Wool Twill Club Pant( hopefully the fit is right) and Slub cotton embroidered flowers tee. I need to stay away from JC for awhile.

  91. Lauren - I wore the pants around the house for a few trial wears but not outside, (wrong weather and not office-appropriate). Since it's the first time I didn't return with the tags (forgotten on my desk), I think I got asked. I agree, it's not a fun to come home with with new clothes to find any little "souvenir" of the previous wearer.

  92. I forgot to mention that I've got a petite and regular heather carbon schoolboy blazer, and a dream cadet cardigan happily making their way to my door. I hope they work out because the 0 regular I bought in-store had the same fit issue that was mentioned earlier on this blog, felt tight in the shoulders, but fit fine everywhere else. I also want to try the new Dream Knox sweater-jacket and the Cropped ripstop cargo pant. I was hoping to see more jewelry in this roll-out, but check the catalog.

  93. I was also tempted by the Streamers Slub cotton top until I zoomed on this pic, the fabric is starting to fray around the buttons I don't think it will hold up to many wearings.

  94. Cyclone,

    I agree with Anonymous@10:37.

If you wear the pants they are yours. You cannot return them b/c they did not fit. Try them on first and decide:) I stand behind JCrew's return policy too. I have received worn items without tags that people have returned to the catalog. I don't want something that is not brand new. That is what thrift store shoppig is for! From JCrew I have also received a jacket with a stain on the elbow that was $$ that had been worn and returned!

  95. I forgot to mention I also agree with Anonymous about returning worn clothing without defects. This is the main reason why I don't wait for sales and buy items when they first rollout on-line.

  96. Question: is the perfect pencil skirt this season's double serge? Will a double serge come out with a later roll-out?

Not totally feeling the perfect pencil colours, but it might just take me a little while to warm up to them.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Just for kicks I put random things in my shopping cart and it came to about $1500 (insert bulging eyeballs face here)! Which is less than some collection pieces but still....

Waiting for a sale....pretty stuff, but nothing I *have* to have :).

Bought a Jackie cardigan in weathered stone during the extra20 sale and I'm happy for now...

  98. Rosie, the perfect pencil is very similar to the double serge. The fabric is the same type of weave and weight... so I'm thinking this is the 2009 version of the double serge, without calling it that.
