J.Crew Featured In Real Simple {thanks Dina!}

"Thanks!" to Dina (check out her {great} blog: "My Superfluities..."), who was kind enough to not only let us know that J.Crew was featured in the recent Real Simple Magazine, but also scanned the image for us to view. To view the image larger, click here or on the image itself.

The item featured is a J.Crew Tee ($49.50). According to the magazine, this tee is: "Intricate beading in earthy shades of brown and sage give this lightweight cotton scoop neck the fell of a one-of-a-kind, bought-it-on-vacation creation". I am a big fan of scoop neck tees!

What are your thoughts on the tee? Have you see it at a store or tried it on? Would you recommend buying J.Crew's intricate tees?

  1. You can see this tee styled under a cardigan; search item 96261.

  4. I remember seeing this tee in RS a while back...thanks so much Dina & Alexis for sharing! I think this tee is really pretty.

Btw...I called my nearest b&m hoping they could set aside the new sparkle rose tee until I could get there this weekend. The SA I spoke to was only able to find one color in my size...the rest have been "flying out the door." Looks like this one will be quick to sell out. If you're interested in it, might want to jump on it soon!

  6. I zoomed in on this tee and thought OMG No Way! I really don't care for this tee at all.

Same with the sparkle rose tee. What is all the hype about? It is a rose printed tee with rhinestones. Sorry but I don't like either. To each his own I guess!

I mean, when you can get some of the collection jackets and cardigans for a few dollars more or the price of both of these I will do that! The cascadia collection cashmere is $89 and the falling petals jacket (which is gorgeous and fits me well) was only $103.

  7. Dina ( and Alexis)- thank you so much for posting the image! I collect all "As Seen In" images for fun.:)

Summer- I am with you on the tees though. I've seeen the sparkly rose tee in stores awhile back and was not impressed, still not impressed as of today regardless the hype. Same goes for the tee featured. Just does not rock my boat!:)

  8. Summer -- just curious. I bought the Falling Petals Jacket also. What are you styling underneath? Challenging because the jacket is so see-through...

  9. I'm on the "don't love it" side of the fence on this one. Rhinestones have never been part of my wardrobe and the latest round of sparkly tees are not going to be either. The bedazzled comment from yesterday reminded me of Melissa Peterman's character, Barbara Jean, on the show Reba. There was one episode where she mentioned bedazzlin' and was wearing a decked out jean jacket. Not a look I want to emulate. *shudders*

  10. I really like the whole outfit Ava suggested (item number 96261). But I don't think the tee is "to die for" :)

  12. That could be really cute with the right pieces!

I was wondering if you guys had any similar issues like I'm having with jcrew. I posted about it here:

  13. Ordinarily I like J.Crew's beaded/embellished tees (candy, rosette, etc.), and if they're done well I don't think they look Bedazzled. But so far the fall versions aren't working for me. The rose version IMO spills over into that Ed Hardy/tattoo aesthetic, and this one reminds me of the Superman logo.

I hope JC makes a great tee in earth tones of olive, burnished orange, or chocolate for fall.

  14. a little too 80's for me...rreminds me when all that battenburg lace was in while I was in elementary/middle school.

anyone have a free shipping code for j.crew? what would be even better is a 25 or 30% off code. :)

  15. OT: I don't think this is good news for those of us who shop Banana Republic often too, but they have now instilled the dreaded Final Sale! My email flyer says that they have up to 70% off, but in small print:

"Sorry, no returns or exchanges online or in stores on final sale items".

Unfortunately, our hope that JC would adopt some of BR's more customer-friendly practices won't be happening soon :( ....

  16. It looks like a mans chest hair! Why J.Crew? WHY?

  17. Jennifer, LOL! I do like the tee but styled with something else, like the outfit ava pointed out in item 96261.

I wonder when we will see this item make its appearance on their site!

  18. Audball,

I noticed that on the BR site too. However, unlike J Crew, the items are really discounted heavily and all but one or two sizes were sold out on the items I checked.

The final sale doesn't bother me when a store is selling a $88 top for $20. I just won't do final sale on something that is still $100+.

Still I hope this doesn't become a habit for them.
