J.Crew Extends Well-Wishes To First Family {nice!}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Red white and Blue! & kitchy7 (in this post) ,who mentioned that J.Crew updated its homepage (click here). In a lovely gesture, they congratulate the new first family. :)

Michelle Obama is a big fan of J.Crew, even stating her appreciation for the brand on a Jay Leno appearance (refer to here). No matter what she wears today, on Inauguration Day, I am sure First Lady Michelle Obama will look great.

P.S. Happy Inauguration Day J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados! :)

P.S.S. Due to the direction of some of the comments, I have disabled the comments for this post. :(

    Right? RIGHT???

Aw come on J Crew. :(

  2. ♥ Chloe: I am not going to lie, I was hoping J.Crew would offer a promotion for today's event too- perhaps some free shipping, maybe an additional percent off. ;)

Unfortunately, I will be away for most of the day so I won't be able to check the computer or monitor my email, but maybe J.Crew still might offer something for today. :)

  4. Alexis- I suppose it's good for me, considering I'm on a bit of a shopping ban. :D

Anonymous- Hi. Do you know what socialism is?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Chloe: (I'm not anon 3:42) socialism... hmmm... possibly handing out 800 billion dollars as an Economic band-aid? Not that doing so is really Obama-specific. The recession would have been addressed similarly if McCain had won, the real difference will be in how the money is allocated, and since none of us can see the future (I presume), only time will tell...

P.S. Food for thought: Most economists believe that the New Deal actually prolonged the Great Depression.

P.P.S. 50% off would make the day even MORE historic. J.Crew offering a good deal? Surely you jest.

  6. Chloe and Alexis,

Yeah, I was hoping for at least 30% off to celebrate today. Looks like it is going to be zero! Bummer.

J Crew could have loaded their new arrivals on-line this am, that would have been a nice way to celebrate.

Can anyone suggest a good winter boot for ice/snow that has good cushion as well? Thanks.

  12. Ann @ 5:48 - I like J.Crew wellies for ice/rain. They may have some lined ones as well.

  13. Ann: Have you looked at the Merrell boots, I purchased a pair that looks like Uggs, lined with sherpa, and they are great for the ice and snow.

  18. Ah yes, Michelle Obama. Proof positive that J.Crew is not just for 20-somethings. I always thought they had something for everyone and reading this blog it certainly seems so!

    Maybe a promotion tomorrow?

The best boots I have found for ice and snow are La Canadienne "Alexa"
    http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7135624/color/216

Pricey, but worth their weight in gold IMO.
They are water proof, I stood in a freezing cold river to check, Sherpa lined and so comfortable. Not to mention, they will last you decades.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Congratulations to the First Family to-be in 4 hours! Nice gesture by JCrew. I'm not expecting promotions, considering Mickey's statements of late.

Also, the coats that Sasha & Malia Obama were wearing at the Sunday concert looked familiar - maybe Crewcuts? All the little girl coats are sold out on the site so I couldn't tell for sure.

  21. Socialism = spreading the wealth. Exactly what Obama suggested during one of his campaign speeches. We have to be careful about what that means. I work hard for my money and I'm not poor because of it. People who are able and don't even make an effort, why should I be taxed so the government agencies can give to them and support the welfare lifestyle?

I'm fine with a helping hand. A handout, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ann, check out Sporto boots. Almost all are less than $100, they are cute, and almost all are 100% waterproof. I have a pair I got two years ago and I get alot of compliments on them. They're available everywhere (Zappos, Piperlime, etc.).

    ReplyDelete
  23. Republican or Democrat, socialist or not, this is a historic day for our country - let's all ban together and support our country and each other. Differences can be put aside for one day. The best we can do is to be hopeful.

    ReplyDelete
  24. band together, sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well I hope JCrew comes up with some sort of fantastic promotion! Once Obama "redistributes" my hard-earned money, I'll have even less to spend at my beloved JC!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I usually wear my JCrew wellies in the ice and snow (I live in Cleveland). They work well. I have a lined pair. I've had them for 3 winters, wore them almost every day, and they are still going strong. I also get alot of compliments too! Of course, if you want a more sophisticated look they probably won't cut it.

  33. Whoo hoo! It is a very good day. I am also a Canadian, but so very happy for the USA today. Anonymous at 3:42, to me 'socialism' is NOT a dirty word in any sense especially when socialism = universal health care and firm social safety nets.

On a purely superfical note, I looove Michelle O. She is such a class act, in every sense. And I can't wait to see what she'll be wearing! I think she is the next Jackie O!

For the poster asking about clara, I'm a huge fan! I bought three colours! But I can see how it annoys people. It is rather puffy and not the most flattering. If you have shoulder-self-consciousness you may not like it. I love mine with a wide belt! When you cinch it in it balances the puffiness a little. Best with a slim bottom (I mean pant/skirt, not derriere!) But to me clara is so pretty that I don't mind that isn't 'slimming'.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Paperbag Princess,

Thanks. I ordered my usual size Large b/c of my shoulders (i.e. I am a swimmer:) Since I am tall I hope my height balances out the poofiness.

Also, I did look at Bigger Closet website (before posting my request on opinions) but since she wears a small I couldn't judge...looks fine on her...

  39. Just a note about nationalized health care...I lived in France where the system worked well. The US spends more per capita on health care than any other country, but what the average person gets in the end from the government (which for many is nothing) is miserable compared to countries like France. I'm not saying the French system is perfect, but it's better than our messed up system where the insurance company executives are the ones making and controlling the money and people sit in emergency rooms for hours waiting for care. Why should health care be linked with and subsidized by your employer? Completely off-topic for this blog, I know...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks Gia and FFM!!

  41. Paper Bag Princess, the health care and social safety nets in Canada are why you guys are taxed to the hilt. It is unsustainable, especially as the baby boomers retire. Good luck with that. ;)

  46. The anons crying socialism might not take this op-ed seriously as it comes from the evil godless yankee liberal NYT :), but Newt Gingrich + John Kerry both contributed to it: How to take US Health Care from Worst to First.

If you don't want to read it, here's just one line: It is no surprise then that the United States spends more than twice as much per capita on health care compared to almost every other country in the world — and with worse health quality than most industrialized nations.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Here is one study:

    http://ucatlas.ucsc.edu/spend.php

    ReplyDelete
  48. My husband, daughter and I received better healthcare in the US than in the UK. Until one actually lives outside the US don't knock it. My huband has had 8 surgeries and is only 35 years old. I have had so many health issues myself and have always gotten good care in the US. No system is perfect but no one I know likes Canada or UK's system better than the US. In the UK the wait time for an emergeny MRI is 6 months. I know this for a fact. A nonemergency one is 9 months. I never had to wait more than a few weeks in the US for my three MRI's.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anon at 10:43, are you serious? I work in health care policy and it is well known that the US spends more per capita on health care than any other industrialized nation, yet has some of the worst health outcomes. This is not even debatable! Regardless of the reasons WHY (I'm not even going to try to get into that), it is true.

    ReplyDelete
  50. And I'm not saying Anon at 10:58 isn't right...we can often get health care much quicker here, and we have some of the best technology in the world. However, when you're talking about population-level characteristics and costs, it's a very different story.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I live in Canada and hate national health care and I'm healthy. We have people dying in emergency rooms in Winnipeg and sitting there dead for 12 hours before they are even noticed for pete's sake. It takes forever for MRIs and people regularly die waiting for lifesaving surgery.

Most people in Calgary do not have a family doctor, they rely on walk-in-clinics, when a doctor is actually IN the clinic, or emergency wards. It is gawdawful pathetic. If I have any health problems I will go to the US and pay out of pocket for care.

Canadians spend the majority of tax revenue on health care alone and what is delivered is terrible. Don't think there aren't bureaucrats in the government system because there are and unlike a CEO of a publicly-traded company, they are political appointees who can do no wrong until a change of government. It's ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What made U.S. great essentially is not its wealth. But the free battle grounds it opens to talented people and great ideas. If that freedom does not exist, less competitive entities are protected, U.S. will lose its world standing.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 4:08:, No, most economists do not believe that the New Deal prolonged the Depression--that's a Fox News talking point.

See John Maynard Keynes: gov't must spend to overcome output gaps.

    ReplyDelete
  54. IMO the healthcare problem in the US is more about the cost and access then quality.

If you are working and have healthcare through your employer you are probably pretty happy with your care. No problems. HOWEVER IF you become ill and can not work, you lose your healthcare. Now WHAT? COBRA is available, but normally it is extremely expensive especially if you aren't working and it doesn't last forever. Other insurance companies may not take you because of your pre-existing condition.

Medicare and Medicaid (under current laws) can not always fill the gap.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I agree with Amy. We do have some amazing medical research and have made countless innovations to the practice, but for those of us who do not have health insurance b/c we can't afford it or our employers do not offer a program, it is difficult to even manage a routine check-up or medication. It really comes down to whether or not you think health care is a right or a privilege.

But anyway, what do people think of Michelle's inauguration outfit? It's not jcrew but it's lovely! A creamy, golden yellow beaded dress and jacket, with dark green pumps. I dig the color combo. I hope she is wearing hose, though, it's freakin' cold!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Agree, the more bail-out, the longer recession will be.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Meredith and Heather I completely agree and have seen other similar studies. Anonymous at 10:40 studies on universal pensions have shown that social safety nets ARE sustainable, for low-income AND high-income countries. Also, studies of the Nordic countries (where they have the highest taxes and most comprehensive safety nets) consistently show the highest quality of life and 'happiness' rankings. Canadians are heavily taxed, its true but why would I mind if it means I have health care security and do not have to fend for myself in a time of need. No system is perfect and the Canadian one has its flaws, believe me! But people without medical coverage or without adequate coverage are frequently bankrupted by medical expenses in countries without universal coverage.

I do not want to be political because that isn't what this blog is for, and I want to be respectful of that. But since you brought it some of us have responded...

Back to j crew! To the poster about clara - good luck, I hope you love it as much as I do!! I may be taxed-to-the-hilt but every now and then I can still buy a little cardi!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. actually, maybe it's not beaded but some sort of jacquard print (or something similar to the metallic cloche skirt?)? I need to find a better picture. image of the couple

    ReplyDelete
  59. anon@ 9:22 - the bug pin is too funny! J.Crew really lost their marbles on trying to pawn those things off for as much as they did. Do you think people might be bidding on them as a gag gift?

I don't want to politicize here, but I do have personal experiences with the failure of a socialized healthcare system. My friend's mother in Sweden literally died of breast cancer while waiting for years to get to the doctors she needed and get the treatment that could have saved her life. My grandmother, on the other hand, was fortunate to come to the U.S. and receive many life-saving treatments. She lived for 15 years longer because she was able to treat her breast cancer, and she was able to have a very high quality of life after the treatments she received after 2 strokes. Another friend of mine who lived in the UK had an extremely difficult time getting care (not to mention coverage) to treat her health problems. She had to shell out a lot of cash and be treated by private doctors (she was not wealthy, so this was a huge drain for her financially). Eventually, she also came to the U.S. to be treated, and she's now doing fine.

If our health care system is so bad, then why do so many people who have the means to tbe best health care in the world (including world leaders, sworn enemies of the U.S., and so many foreign dignitaries) come to the U.S. to be treated? Especially dignitaries from counrties with socialized health care systems?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Michelle does look great. In pics I saw of her yesterday (with the belted cardi) she looked very JCrew inspired!

    ReplyDelete
  61. OK, I need to clarify. When you say the US spends more per capita, what I am questioning is that the US government spends more per capita. Not the US including private citizens, employers, etc.

Saying "the US spends more per capita" is rather ambiguous.

  70. Regarding people coming to the US for health care, I reiterate what others have said, that if you have the money, US health care is great. If you don't, then you may end up dying in a waiting room like some have said happens in Canada or the UK. Money talks here in the US, and health care is a prime and sad example. The irony is that some Americans go overseas for operations and other health care ...because they can't afford it here!

I also enjoyed Michelle's outfit from yesterday with the belted sweater. I am always scared to wear a belt over caridgans because I think it creates a little bulk but she showed me it doesn't really matter if you look confident wearing it. I think she looked great! 93. Slastena: Well said!

We too pay for our own medical care. With hubby being self employed, myself a SAHM and three children it does not come cheaply but it is well worth it. I do not for a moment want the government in charge of mine or my family's health, even for free.

While I did not vote for Obama I do have a great deal of respect for him and for the position so I will stand behind him and hope the best for our country!!

Our First Lady looks classic and stunning today and know she will carry herself with much style.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Don't worry Slastena-it will never happen. And thank you for interjecting with some rational, thoughtful statements backed up with real life experience. Too many well meaning people fall prey to emotional decision making without bothering to understand the real life complexities of what they are pushing for.

This compulsion is aided and abetted by the media, all of whom will be quick to do a 180 when the propaganda they are pushing (to sell newspapers-not always because they believe it) doesn't go well and the anger and disappointment take over as the next best way to sell newspapers.

This country was founded on a simple premise: You get out of it what you put into it. The Welfare system, as well meaning as it was conceptually, threw a wrench into this basic American value. Why work? All you have to do is claim to be a victim and you'll get free money. What a great deal. And no, of course I am not talking about real victims .

The Media needs to start taking responsibility for the propagation of The Culture of Victimhood that it has helped to create. Does anyone really understand how Victimhood is being used to gain leverage and power these days? All someone has to do is say 'I'm offended' or 'I'm a Victim' with NO PROOF of their claims, and they've suddenly got enormous power, as no one wants to be labelled as offensive or a victimizer.

And as we all know, lack of proof only means something to people that are willing to analyze and fully understand a situation--Very few people fall into that category--Most just feed off the emotions and it takes the place of proof for them.

I too believe that Obama is an intellectually gifted person, and will not be prone to rash decisions-at least I hope that. He's also a politician who said things he needed to say to get elected. Good for him. It's my greatest hope that he will turn out to be a LOGIC oriented Centrist, because as we all know, the extremes on both sides do all the talking while the people in the middle do all the work.

  100. Both Anons @ 11:11: Hear hear.

The New Deal ushered in Social Security and welfare, farm subsidies and whole bunch of regulations. Obama is espousing primarily public works, which was the focus of Kennedy more than it was Roosevelt's.

Thank you Anon for pointing out the Fox propaganda machine at work.

I would add more regarding this dialogue about healthcare in the US, since I'm an attorney who has worked, at different times, as General Counsel for a hospital holding company AND on the side of healthcare insurers AND for a French company where all the French nationals preferred to receive their healthcare in the U.S. (!!)

But this is supposed to be a blog where we can escape those issues and focus on the less serious matters of JCrew :)

  108. Hellow Anon at 1:13, anon at 1:05 here!

Yes, I recommend the color. I thought it was an unusual take on ordinary ivory. In full disclosure-I had to pick between the champagne and the desert brown (can't see having two), and chose the desert brown because I am very fair and blonde and worry that pale neutrals turn me one color. But it was a hard choice, because I really liked the champagne!

  109. anon @ 1.01 - wouldn't agree with you more. The First Lady is a pretty tall woman, she looked very bulky. She has to make sure she wears either belts or better fitted clothes. Especially next to the President Obama who although tall, is rather a slim man...

She is a woman with a pooch. It is not a huge deal, but she should dress to accentuate the positives. Wearing a designer outfit that makes you look pregnant does not show you are in "fashion," "style," or "glamour." It is absolutely no different than the fashion don't of wearing a pair of designer pants with a visible panty line.

Spanx makes one product that helps with the pooch, another for the VPL.

  121. RatsOnParade -- I'm sorry to say I think it is foolish to compare a socialist economy to a library and paying firefighters to pull you out of a burning house. A library book doesn't make or break your finances. Firefighters do get paid to do what they do, and they absolutely are earning that money, not being given a handout.

I think the point others on this blog are trying to make is that the US is based on capitalism. Those who work harder, push further and take greater risks reap the benefits. If their are downtrodden out there don't like it, they should move to a socialist state, not try and push socialism on the rest of the country.

Now can we please get back to JCrew?

  130. Making healthcare available to all people isn't about "giving handouts" or making things unfair for people who work hard. It's about allowing everyone to have the most basic needs met so that ALL people are able to strive for the opportunities given us by this country. RIGHT NOW the system is unfair, people are oppressed by not having the most basic access to resources (healthcare, decent education). What we're looking at is a *correction* to that, an equaling out of opportunity. *That* is what the US promises all its citizens.

I suspect that many people commenting on a blog about an upscale retailer (which I love too!) aren't happy about that because they like the way things are.

However, the 0 was too short for my personal taste, so I bought the 2 which sits lower on my waist, and makes the skirt come to just above my knee. I purchased the Spring Dots Nicky, and did not try on the solid one, but would think they run the same sizewise, hopefully. ;). HTH!

  139. Slastena, I completely agree with you. People DO choose what to spend their money on. In my field I see TONS of single mothers with big houses, designer purses, and nice cars who cry that they can't afford health care for themselves or their children. For a lot of people (I'm not talking about the truly destitute) it's about priorities. Too often, people just expect that they are going to be given things, rather than having to make the decision to sacrifice something you WANT for something you NEED. I, too am middle class, and not fabulously wealthy. But I make sure I pay for the important things: mortgage, health care, savings, before Jcrew, etc.

There are many, many ways US healthcare fails Americans. This is agreed upon by both dems and republicans. People die of bad emergency care every day in the US, especially in inner cities. Rich people fly to India because they have better access to better medical care there.

First Anon @ 2:01 - While I agree this is not the ideal forum for heady policy, political or socio-economic debates, I think it is refreshing to see women represented not just as consumeristic shopping machines. That, although we do like clothes and shopping, such things are not mutually exclusive with or from holding opinions and and having a social conscience

    ReplyDelete
  149. What's wrong with expressing an opinion? We critique Hollywood stars for their awards show outfits so what is wrong with discussing Michelle Obama's? She is an attractive woman with a nice figure, imo I don't think that her dress/coat is the most flatting thing I've seen on her.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Anon 2pm - I agree.

I'm saddened by the sense of entitlement I'm hearing from people who (just yesterday) felt so connected to. Even if only because of our joint love for J.Crew fashion. :)

That's great that those of you in the middle class feel because you can afford to pay for your own health insurance, that others who don't just don't see it as a high priority (the way you do). The middle class is a fairly expansive, and not everyone can afford to prioritize between having health care or paying the rent.

Also, no one is saying we have to follow the model of the other countries who already have socialized health care. But we MUST. DO. SOMETHING.

Maybe we should ask about the legitimacy of the health insurance industry. Why do we need a middle man between the public and health care providers? For all the money we sink into insurance, how much do we really get out of it? Have you ever had to fight with an insurance company over being charged for treatment you didn't receive? I bet they still forced you to pay them anyway, until all the red tape had been resolved. And, the kicker - whether you owed the money in the first place or not, it will show up on your credit report. Good luck fixing that. Oh, and just how do they decide what is a reasonable fee for out of network doctors? Or why deny coverage to someone who may or may not have had a pre-existing condition just because? I have plenty of life experiences I could share to help illustrate my point, but I'm trying to keep this short...

Maybe instead of railing against those less fortunate than you with cries of "we deserve to keep what we make, and damn the rest of the you who just don't work hard enough" we should focus our attention (and anger) on those who are actually at the root of the problem.

    The insurance companies.

The complexity here is that many of these 'Victims' can afford Insurance, but since so many people BELIEVE they can't, they buy that Louis bag or that plasma TV while claiming they can't afford insurance. Why shouldn't they-they've got the emotional reasoners duped nicely.

I understand; I agonize over some of the craziest decisions. Sounds like the champagne would be nice because it will create some contrast with your natural coloring, especially if pink undertones are flattering to your skin tone.

Another reason I picked the desert brown was because I did a quick inventory of my recent purchases and found more that I could layer with the brown than the champagne. But that probably the result of me steering clear of light colors, Maybe a similar exercise will help you decide.

    Good luck!

  162. Anon 2:18 -- you accuse me of being anecdotal (actually I was just trying to meet Slastena's anecdote, I have plenty of real evidence to back up my statements), but where is your evidence that these self-made victims of yours exist? You're speculating that there are millions of people out there who could afford health insurance but choose not to. It's just not true; there are no, like, FACTS to support that. And what we're looking at here is deeper than healthcare -- income inequalities, education discrepancies, etc. that make it impossible for your "victims" to ever have what you have, no matter what they do.

And by the way, my father's a very intelligent and educated man. He doesn't blindly think "Yay socialized medicine!!!!" He knows what the proposed plans are, he knows about countries where similar plans have been implemented, and he's chosen his position. He happens also to know firsthand that the current system is broken, and that is valuable knowledge. Not an opinion: knowledge.

  163. How did we get political on a fashion website? Oh, that's right, JCrew started it ;)

Whenever someone mentiones health care, I think about Michael Moore's "sicko", that movie really hit a few sensitive spots of this country. I agree, health care should be accessible (or at least affordable) to everyone. We have people who can't afford basic health care and at the same time some Ivy League school psychiatrists get richer by the minute by taking money from Biotech companies (I'm referring to multiple NY Times articles on this topic).

I also read in a book written by a neurosurgery resident that the waiting time for CAT scans in the UK can be months whereas in the US it's available almost the same day. The irony of it all is-people who need those CAT scans the most get rejected by insurance companies.

I honestly hope that this new year brings us all some positive changes and I also extend my congrats to the first family.

  178. 2:44, in fact I just finished a business school economics course last semester.

Total output (or GDP) = C+I+G+X

C=consumption, the largest factor in GDP. When C falls, G, or government spending, must step in to help maintain GDP. This can include public works, gov't investment in infrastructure, procurement, etc. In fact, *SOME* economists (really good attribution there) believe that the Depression dragged on as long as it did b/c the New Deal was too tentative at first due to political opposition against public spending in the beginning. Go read some Paul Krugman.

People in my country (Mexico) get it for free, but even the poor people would rather go to private doctors than to get medical care from government run health care. Most people use it to get free medicines like penicillin or motrin, but have their own doctor on the side. Once the government gets involved, it all becomes a giant bureaucracy, prone to laziness, apathy, mistakes, and death.

I do wish she would hem them a bit higher - because she is really tall & high waisted, her hips & thighs are long and take up most of her silhouette. By wearing longish narrow shirts/dresses, that tends to make that zone look disproportionate.
Michelle is fit - there are no rolls or lumps on that woman, so Spanx won't do much. She's a bit (really, only a bit) thick in the middle but surely not fat or pregnant looking, in my opinion.
Nina Garcia wrote in her Little Black Book of Style that true stylish women (or men) embrace their perceived figure flaws to their advantage and through that exude confidence, the foundation of style. Michelle is saying to us with her modern, form fitting frocks that she is proud of her curvy, womanly and strong body. You go girl!

Narciso Rodriguez, who created Obama's controversial election night dress, designed her camel-and-black ensemble on Sunday. For the swearing-in ceremony this morning, Obama chose a gold brocade suit by Isabel Toledo, a 20-year fashion veteran who once worked for Anne Klein and is known for her innovative, unusual take on traditional pieces. Mrs Obama is also a longtime fan of American apparel label J.Crew. This morning she dressed her daughters Malia and Sasha in coats from the company's Crewcuts line. The first lady additionally accessorized her Isabel Toledo design with a pair of J. Crew's green leather gloves."

  189. Slastena-don't let the liberal bullies knock you down-they are loud that's all. Loud self righteous bullying is a mark of desperation when confronted with facts. The truth hurts. They hate the truth. They've used their usual MO, which was to make you feel bad for you common sense views and real life experiences. By claiming to speak for all the 'victims', they've bullied you into silence and deleting your posts. You fell for it. Slastena-many people see it your way. ;-)

  191. Socialism/Communism... what about FASCISM (or the linking of corporations with government). We were pretty much there, folks, with the Bush Administration. THANK GOD, that is over. Obama will lead thoughtfully and pragmatically. We need to all participate! If you are on the left or right side of the aisle, we need to do our part for our country. Its time to put division and fear aside and roll up our sleeves. We have a mess that needs fixing!

  195. I don't think Alexis posted this topic to have a political discussion can we please get back to discussing J Crew and pleeeeese stop the incessant complaining about the lack of codes.

Michelle looks great, the bulk is probably due to the fact that she is wearing layers to keep her warm from the cold.

  199. What in the world is with all the name calling? Can we all just call a truce and get over all this bickering? It's really quite ridiculous. If you would like to discuss your political beliefs, I suggest you try a blog that is not about clothing.

  200. 5:03=Simplistic black and white thinker.

Sorry, think again. I support self responsibility and fact based decision making instead whining. I also support my gay friends and their wishes to get married. I am non religious, and support all religions as long as they do not impinge on the rights of others.

Complexity. Get to know it. Those of us in the middle are growing. Don't be surprised when a new, very powerful political party that represents the center comes out of 'nowhere' to battle the extremists on both sides.
