  1. I would like to use this promotion, except things are disappearing from my cart and the website is going up and down. Very frustrating!

  2. jbird: I had this problem earlier this morning. I finally was able to check out. I ordered the Lucinda coat in ivory, a fireball bracelet, the Hayward Giraffe cami, and a scarf. We'll see if they actually show up! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I would use this coupon, but the site has been continuously down for me since this morning. I was able to load my cart with 3 items early, but I have not been able to get back on since then. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  4. when are the new arrivals coming?!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I used the code for some metallic Tivoli flats. Not the greatest price, but it hurts a little less with free shipping. I just couldn't find other metallic flats that I like as much (for the same or less $$$), and I think they'll be really versatile with my wardrobe. Thanks for the code!

  6. 2:32, someone had mentioned that the new arrivals will be online on 1/31.

I just got back from a quick trip to the Collection Store. They had out the spring arrivals. They had lots of cute (short) shorts in a thick canvas-y feeling fabric in various prints. They had the Annie blouses (not a fan of the button-down placket in the front, personally), and a champagne-colored tee that was like the chiffon rose tee but there were several smaller chiffon flowers placed around the tee in the same color chiffon as the tee. Another thing that I saw of note was a long v-neck cardigan in a feather weight merino knit, with different size and style fabric flowers placed around the neckline. Again, this was a light beige/champagne color. I would have tried on the tee and cardi but I know those colors wash me out. The tee was $48 and the cardi was $98, not too bad considering the embellishments.

  7. I noticed that a few of the newer spring items have been added to the sale section: Travel Trench is on special for $148 and Hayward Giraffe Cami is $79.99. Just an FYI!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I would prefer a 20% or 30% code instead of free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I used the code to order the lady day in sea salt since the price finally dropped this morning and saved myself 14.50!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I received a J. Crew e-mail about free shipping that looks just like the one posted on this blog except it is for orders over $150, it is good through Jan 25. Code is ICING.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I haven't ordered anything with this current promotion, although I am waiting on the merino rose cardigan in snow, the solid silk shirred blouse in ivory, and a merino turtleneck in gray.

  12. 170,000 more layoffs slated here for the next several months. In this environment, I'm too scared to shop.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Of course! The Lucinda coat in ivory is now on sale...and with free shipping. I got the shipley in ivory with the 20%. I guess that's fine, and it is cheaper...but the Lucinda is GORGEOUS.

Leslie, I hope you enjoy your Lucinda. I will hopefully enjoy my Shipley as much!

I bought the Marie in sea salt and though it is not the greatest fit around my postpartum hips...it still looks amazing (I just undo the top and bottom buttons...)

  14. Leslie and Megan - thanks for letting us know that the fabulous giraffe cami went on sale. I was able to grab one in my size before they all got snatched up! Thought I would treat myself to it, since it is one of the pieces I love from the new season. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. any thoughts on the gold lame skirt? i'm pretty short (5'2") and am worried it might be too long...

    ReplyDelete
  16. has anyone seen †he hayward giraffe cami in †he stores...i can't believe my size is sold out already...=(

    ReplyDelete
  17. Meh, this is a throw-away code for me. Given what other stores are offering, this pales.

    ReplyDelete
  18. One problem that I have with free shipping codes is that if I order just a couple of things & one or more of those items cancels b/c of lack of inventory, the deal isn't as good. I would prefer to order when there's a % off.

Plus you can stack % off with student discount, whereas you can't with free shipping. Lame.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Def. not going to use this offer. Not shopping with J Crew. They are already sold out of new items that I like in my size. Saw first shipment of spring items, and nothing interests me...and I do have a trip to a warm climate in two weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  20. dinagideon: You're gonna laugh...I also have the ivory Shipley coming today. I had been waiting and waiting for the ivory Lucinda to get marked down from $199, but it never did (until today, of course!), so I finally grabbed an ivory Shipley. I figured it was the stadium cloth I was after so it was a good substitute. Now this morning, the Shipley is $99 so I ordered it figuring whichever one I don't want, I'll offer up on the Weekly Exchange here on JCA. This is my fourth coat from JC this winter...it's time to stop. I'm insane!!! LOL!

Elegant_mom: Congrats on getting the giraffe cami. I was so psyched to to see it on sale and figured I better snatch it up now rather than wait for another code or for it to be marked down again. It might be gone by then! Let us know what you think once you receive it. I will post a review once mine arrives, although Slastena posted a review on her blog. It looks great on her!

    ReplyDelete
  21. darn it!! I wanted that giraffe cami! It was in my shopping bag last night and now it's gone in all the smaller sizes! My heart is broken :(

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anon @334:
You can stack free ship codes too. Trust me it works.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ashley> So when I email jcrew to ask for the discount, shall I quote you? :) Jcrew's story is that they do not stack it with free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  24. argh, are you serious - the giraffe cami is already gone?? Maybe there will be similar things in the spring roll-out. That was sharpee-doo!

I was eyeing that, but still felt the sale price was a bit high...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anon @ 3:31:
With regards to the length of the Gold Lame: I'm 5'7" and though I'm generally a 4, I ended up sizing up to a 6 because the 4 was too short for me (I wanted it to the middle of my knees and it was much, much shorter than that on me!). Also, Slastena posted pictures on her blog of what it looks like IRL, just as a nice visual reference. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Love the deal wish there was an extra 20% off to go along with it. I purchased the ecole jacket and was surprised by the difference from the sale price and the original price.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anon @ 3:31:
I took my regular size (2) in the gold lame skirt and it fits on my hips and hits mid-knee (I'm 5'5") if that helps!

The site is down again for me... no surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi, someone earlier said that you can stack % off with a student discount, I didn't even know I could use my student discount when ordering online! Could someone help me out? How do I use my student discount when ordering online and how do I stack it together with the percentage off promotions? Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. anon @ 350:
The funny thing is that the last time the whole student discount discussion went on about stacking it with other promos, I called the CS line and seriously this is what i said:

"my friend (aka ALL JCAs) just told me that she was able to apply her student discount with free shipping and additional % promos...is this correct or was my friend lying to me?!"

and the CS's reply (luckily i got one with a sense of humor):
"no your friend didn't lie to you. *giggle giggle* i'll be more than happy to apply that for you"

i know that some CS will tell you otherwise but i guess with JCrew its always a "he said, she said" kind of story. give it a try though, it doesn't hurt. HTH!

if that doesn't work i'll put the order in for you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks KatyO! - Anon @ 3:31

  31. So after an extremely frustrating day trying to access the site, I called CS to complain about it. The rep, who was very nice about it, said that they received a message from a higher up that the site has been up and down all day (although from my perspective it hasn't been up at all for me, expect for 3 minutes when I saw the giraffe cami and golden roses cami in the sale section), because the Obama family wore a lot of J.Crew yesterday, and so the site is getting slammed. They are even receiving a lot of calls about the Obamas. I'm just slightly annoyed that all of a sudden people are jumping on the JCrew bandwagon.... when a devotee can't even access the site! :-(

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks Gia! I think I'm going ot pull the trigger on this one. What do you pair with the skirt? I can't decide... - Anon @3:31

    ReplyDelete
  33. anon@3:31 -- I have the gold lame skirt and love it! It is light and the material is lovely, and the skirt is surprisingly versatile. I am 5'8" with a 35" inseam and the skirt hits me right above the knee. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Marietta,
I totally agree! i had to call in my order and pretty much describe what i wanted because i didn't know the exact names of items or their item numbers. the site kept going in and out. it was weird i think it also depends what browser you use because IE would work and then Mozilla wouldn't. So its weird. I hope you were able to get your items!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Ashley - I've been using IE and have not been able to get on since 9:30 this morning. I'm not going to call in an order because I don't know what's available! I have a feeling, though, that whatever was in my shopping cart is pretty much gone by now.... ugh. This has been my worst experience by far with this site. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  36. I placed an order this morning and used the free ship promo. I also just called in to ask CS if they could please apply my student discount to the order. The CS said no problem and did it for me. The CS rep told me that I would see the discount reflected to my account in 3-5 days.

They didn't even ask for my student email address; I use a personal email address for my J Crew account so I thought it was strange that the CS didn't verify my student email address.

I do want to clarify that I have never asked for my student discount to be applied to an online order before so maybe that had something to do with or maybe I just got a very willing CS rep.

Anyways, if you have the time to call CS it might be worth it as they may be willing to apply the educator/ student discount to your order in addition to the free shipping promo.

  37. Leslie: Very funny. I am glad you got the Shipley, too, and for the same reason as me...

I love that giraffe cami but I have to pay my Macys bill...so no J. Crew for the rest of this month. (And honestly...probably February, too.)

I also ordered the Cerise Sanibel Crawford blouse with my Shipley. It finally went down in price and with 20% was a pretty good (for J. Crew) deal. I know some people were interested in it, so I hope this bit of info helps.

I will hopefully wear it soon and convince my hubby to take pics of me wearing it so I can post the pic on my blog (addictive, this blog thing).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Glad to see that J.Crew at least offered a promotion today.

    ReplyDelete
  39. the website (sale search esp.) is down! arrgh!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oooooh I'm so mad at myself! I just spent about $100 on some basics...3 merino crewnecks: peony, brown, grey. They just look so nice with a pencil skirt and necklaces...

    I am a right poo sometimes. (:

    ReplyDelete
  41. Past experience says we have not seen the last of the giraffe cami ;) Don't get upset ... it will probably be back tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the gold lame skirt too. It's actually quite versatile. I wear it with a bright rhubarb perfect-fit scoopneck (like on the model for the tee), or with white. I just ordered a light spearmint v-neck too, so I'll try that next. I have tried it on with all of my metallic shoes and think it could be dressed up or down pretty easily. I hope that helps you!

  44. Wow, the giraffe cami went fast! I really like the cut, but not so much the print. Has anyone seen the Grenada palm cami in person (since it is the same cut as the giraffe cami)? Or the dress that looks like a long version of these camis? Thanks for any help!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Gia,
I've never seen those flats online before until now! So cute and they're not like "ordinary flats" that everyone wears. I'd totally get those too but they're kinda pricey. Lucky you!

    ReplyDelete
  46. will pass on this one. will we ever see a good sale/code ever again now that the Obamas are walking advertisements for Jcrew?

    ReplyDelete
  47. anon 5:00 - Not only we are not going to see beg markdowns, we are going to be forced to pay fp once the inventories get reduced due to the recession. Things will sell fast.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anon @5:09 - true, true. good thing the new spring collex isn't that appealing to me.

I stopped by my downtown mall today and it's practically a ghost town! BR and AT are closing so I stopped by the BR and they had barely any inventory left, but with pretty good markdowns. A dessert/frozen yogurt shop had closed as well. Express was having a $9.99/dig through the box sale... I think they're next up. BBW was advertising a 75% off sale. Things are scary in the retail world!

    ReplyDelete
  49. anon 5:19- From what I have seen of it I do not like it either.

I agree with you it is getting scary in the retail world I just heard of some store closings. It makes me not want to buy or be very very picky about what I do purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anon asking about stacking Free Shipping with Student Discount: call in your order. Once you get a CS rep on the line, ask nicely if you could add your student discount to the CAKE promo. You'll have your answer it 30 seconds or less. I was rejected the first 4 times I called, but the 5th rep that picked up the line said not a problem. It all depends on the rep, unfortunately. All they asked for was my student email address once I gave them my full order. Also worth noting, I didn't have item #'s on hand due to the website issues (CRASHING- argh!). But they were able to find everything for me easily, since I knew the names of the items I wanted. Hope that helps! It doesn't hurt to try!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I wanted to warn all my fellow aficionados about the sizing of the spring shorts. I have now tried on three different styles of shorts in the same size and had every single one hang on me and yet I have not changed in size. The size of the shorts were consistent but not consistent with the sizing from last year. The shorts have gotten bigger everywhere.

I am very upset about this as I love JCREW shorts but being a 0 there isn't much I can do to size down.

  52. Does anyone who has the silk dupioni skirt notice 'marks' here and there on the silk? Normally I would think it's little pulls across the silk or something but I'm wondering if it's because of the type of silk. Could someone let me know if they see that on their skirt?
    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Gold lame skirt fit: I am 5'5" but I have short torso, so my legs are longer and the skirt hits me just above the knee.. while sitting just below the waste. I really like the skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anon at 5:09: small "slugs" are inherent to silk dupioni. It's a natural part of the fiber and not a defect.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anon @ 5:40:
I have a couple of the dupioni skirts, and yes they have the little pulls. I bought mine in-store and the Associate said that is just the nature of dupioni silk. That's just part of it's "nubby" texture!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Gia & others-You have my curiosity about Tivoli flats but there are none to be found on the site! Did they sell out?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks Leslie and Gia re: the silk dupioni skirt! I am glad to hear that. This blog is so great and helpful!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Melanie: I received the Grenada Palm cami today. Its gorgeous. The brown is soft, like the desert brown in the Portland long cardi and the Lili Chiffon cardi. And the pink is a beautiful, rich, saturated shade. Not at all neon.

Fit is exactly like the Giraffe Cami. Its much more fitted through body than last years camis. So if you are interested, order your regular shirt size. I am between sizes so I ordered down. I won't be able to wear it untucked because its fitted all the way to the bottom, but the fit through the torso and bust is perfect.

Unfortunately, the Grenada has to go back, at least for now. The giraffe cami came with it and I can only justify keeping one. And since the giraffe went on sale today, I got a price adjustment and decided to keep it instead of Grenada.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Costa Mesa, CA store had some giraffe camis last weekend. Good luck to those on the lookout!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey guys! I just want to share my good J.Crew experienece. I've ordered 5 times, totalling about $600. Each order shipped perfectly and on time. I got once item cancelled only, and it was very in demand. So.. I'm one of the raries who get everything. Hope this good trend continues for everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I did take advantage of the offer, although I actually didn't know it. I called in my order and the SA applied it. When I got my email confirmation, I saw it! I picked up the Vita cami in silver, and the Giraffe cami. I wanted that, but definitely needed to wait for a sale.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Victoria blouse and cami are in the New Arrivals section of the website. Were they there before or is that new today?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lee - good for you! I had no problems getting my orders until yesterday. I bought a pair of shoes and paid for overnight shipping. I've received a pair of pants instead. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. The site has been having problems for a while. I had orders showing as released for a few days last week. I emailed CS and they said the orders had already shipped and they even gave me the tracking numbers. They said the online system was not updating properly. That was on Saturday. The orders are still showing as released but should be delivered tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anon 5:09 and Leslie, they are small "slubs", not slugs. ick.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I picked up the crystal orbit ring and Dream turtleneck in Hthr Plum this am after the site updated. Any review of the Dream turtleneck? I like the Plum color so I hope it works out!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I bought a few things today - two of the Wool Jersey Button-Trim Camis in ivory and black (I thought they would be good layering pieces under jackets, etc. I haven't seen any reviews or comments on them, so I'll be sure to let everyone know what I think), the Merino Lea Cardigan in melon and the Snow Leopard Simone Peacoat. I've been wanting this jacket ever since it came out, but was never able to snag it when it went on sale in my size. Fortunately, none of my sale items were labeled final sale on my order confirmation email (as has happened on my last three final sale orders), so I'll be able to return any items that don't fit, which I'm happy about.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Re: the giraffe cami...they did the store search for me and found it in a 0! I am TOO happy. I still got the sale price even though that service is only supposed to be for full price items :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. There are quite a few items I want, but I just cannot bring myself to pull the trigger yet. The closest store to me is 50+miles away, so online/catalog is the only answer for my JCrew fix.
I just returned the Feather Chiffon to the store, so I am trying to convince myself that it really wouldn't be like spending any more money. :)
Life is hard- especially when last year our school board did not approve raises or steps, and fearing they won't again this year.
Well, here's what I am wishlisting if you care to peek. And if you have any of the items and care to sell, contact me

    ReplyDelete
  70. JcrewAdorer--I've read some reviews of the Aubrey being shapeless. Some of the JCAs with blogs have reviewed that jacket. Maybe that will help you narrow your wishlist down!

    ReplyDelete
  71. TY ss!
Site is down and I hate that it removes things from my cart without warning. The gold necklace has now sold out. GRRRR.....
I am off to bed. By this time tommorrow, JCrew will probably have sold out of and removed everything from my shopping cart.

    ReplyDelete
  72. JCrewAdorer - I recently bought the Aubrey jacket in your wishlist and really like the shape. It's nowhere near as shapeless as the fall/winter Aubrey jackets. I did purchase it in the natural color because I have a navy jacket similar to the Navy Aubrey, but I just like this particular jacket in the Navy so much more, so I think I'll be exchanging it.

  73. Anon at 8:13! I just got home and read my own post and thought..."that's not what I typed!!" I meant "slubs" but was posting from my iPhone while at my son's bball practice. Sorry...slugs does sound gross!! LOL!

  74. ceecee,
Hi! i have the dream turtleneck in light spearmint. its a great tneck. very warm, its pretty soft, and the colors are very bold. i haven't seen any signs of pilling so i think that'll be fine. the only con about it is sometimes the neck gets a little itchy for me. not super itchy but just a tad. (its probably because its a wool blend.) all in all, i think it is a great deal and you won't regret the purchase! hth!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Leslie - too funny! Sometimes I review what I posted and I'm mortified that there are typos that totally change the meaning. Oh well, it happens. I think most people knew what you meant anyway so I shouldn't be so quick to correct. The content of your post was helpful, I'm sure. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Are you kidding me?! I refuse to pay more for things I previously paid less for.

Thanks for the promo code, Alexis. Once again, J.Crew failed to email me this promo. :(

  77. Professor, Slastena and Jeff, please come back . . . .

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don't see much difference between 20% and free shipping b/c when I use the 20% off it's basically cutting out the same amount as the shipping cost...what would rock is 20% off PLUS free shipping!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. i don't have j.crew's timing down yet....do you think they will offer another 20% off final sale soon? any idea on the timeline?
    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'll wait for another 20% Final Sale. The free shipping is good if you're planning on purchasing regular priced items, but otherwise I'd rather wait for the extra $30 off a $150 sale item; even when I pay shipping costs, I'm still saving more!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I went ahead and used this one as I had a few items that were not "final sale" so the 20% off was not as good of a deal for me. I probably should have waited until the spring rollout but there were a few things that I'm afraid would have been gone by then.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I just came from the JCrew store and they had their Safari Njema and Bon Voyage shits (all colors) on sale for $29.99! With the 30% off, it comes to about $21 each. Steal! Considering they're still listed on the website at $39.50.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I wish the Double Serge in Dark poppy wasn't sold out. I'd rather have that than the Classic peacoat.

    ReplyDelete
  84. jcrewadorer: the rock store in nyc has a TON of the double serge in dark poppy in the sale section as of yesterday! good luck!

also, the columbus store in nyc has 3 pairs of so cute size 11 heels! penelopes, lulus, and spectators! they had a decent shoe sale section so if you are looking for something i would definitely try them!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Lindsay THANKS! I hope to give them a call. I am just worried about sizing on these and if they would let me return seeing as I would be ordering over the phone (I live in FL)
