Item 96783
Regular: $69.50
Select colors: $39.99-$49.50

I own a couple of J.Crew's sherpa hoodies from last winter and they are so comfortable! I love how warm and soft they are to wear. I am curious how this year's hoodies are (if they are the same or changed).

Luckily for us, Sarah shared with us her great review of a J.Crew hoodie from this season:

The Sherpa hoodie is phenomenally soft, and currently priced at a very reasonable sale price. It's great looking for a typical zip-up - the button embellished pockets are a nice touch, and makes it seem somewhat less casual.

The sherpa is really, really soft, and it manages to be cozy and warm without being bulky. It fits true to size, but if you like your sweaters a little looser you'd be safer with one size up. I have it in off-white - obviously, for more practicality the darker colors are a better bet. Overall, a fantastic buy, with the looks, warmth, and comfort a great value for the sale price.

"Thanks!" to Sarah for sharing her great review with us! :)

What are your thoughts on the Sherpa Hoodie (do you like/dislike the style, design, fabric)? Are you considering or already have purchased this hoodie? Have you seen this hoodie at your local store? If so, please share with us your reviews too! :) Also, how do you wear your hoodie? Do you wear it with sweats, jeans, or more dressed up (like the model in the image)?

  1. I love the sherpa hoodie. I purchased it in navy and I wear it with a white tank top and jeans. The buttons are cute.

I purchased mine first thing when it was full price. I kind of wish I had waited now that the price is so much lower

  2. I bought one of these right when the went on promotion. Actually, my boyfriend and I were annoying and he got the men's version. I got the yellow sherpa hoodie. In terms of size, IMO it runs way small. I wear a medium in the cambridge crewnecks and a medium in tshirts and I had to get an XL in this sweatshirt, mostly because otherwise i couldn't zip up over my chest in any other size. Sleeves are a little long but i just fold over the cuffs. Otherwise, the hoodie is amazingly warm and soft and cuddly. I didn't take it off for the first 3 days that I bought it. When I finally washed it (definitely didn't dry for fear it would shrink) the sherpa became less soft. Still very warm though. Takes forever to dry if you're hanging it to dry.

    I would buy this again.

    HTH!

  3. I own one in Mediterranean blue and I have to disagree with one thing said in the review. I found this hoodie to run small. I always wear a medium or a large and I had to buy an extra-large in this hoodie. I love love love this sweater though, it is very warm and soft. I especially like the pockets as they are lined with sherpa as well. I might buy this again, but I find it to be a little less dressy than I like for everyday.

  4. I actually bought this hoodie for my little cousin for Christmas. I purchased it retail though. Nice to read a good review.

  5. Great review. I agree that the zip hoodies tend to run on the smaller side at times. If you want a fitted look I'd say size up one, at least in the waffle hoodie. I haven't tried the sherpa, but I'm sure it's cozy.

  6. Great review. :) I actually didn't like the buttons. But I like warm, soft sweaters in the winter. This makes me want to try it on in the store. :)

  8. I bought this hoodie (grey) at f/p with my gift card for my summer JC troubles, and I love it. I wore it alot in the fall, and plan to wear it underneath my jacket in the winter as an insulating layer.
I took my usual size in hoodies, there was no need to size up.

  9. Thanks for the fantastic review Sarah! I tried this one on in the B&M a couple months ago, and agree that it's super soft and comfy...didn't purchase it then because it was close to 100 degrees outside, but will definitely consider it now that the weather is getting cooler. :)

  10. I bought this in navy with the TURKEY promo. I absolutely love it. I agree that it runs small. I usually order Medium in sweaters, because I don't like them to constricting. This is definitely snug, but this makes it look dressier. Plus, it is so warm that you just need a t-shirt underneath. I highly recommend.

  11. BTW, I ordered by regular size M. It still fits well, but more fitted. I didn't need to size up.

  12. I purchased this one in blue, but returned it. I didn't like the overturned pocket detail.

  13. I bought this item in my usual size and had to return it twice to go two sizes larger. No way would it fit over my bust in the usual size. It fits really small.

Nice to know it wasn't just me and my big bust.

  14. Thanks everyone for your comments! I am also happy to hear that I was not the only one who thought the sherpa hoodies were on the small size. The one I bought last year was *incredibly* tight around the chest (and I am *not* well-endowed by any means). ;) I was hoping that this year, the new Sherpa Hoodies would be more true to size. :)

  15. I got one of these last year and I love it. I also needed to size up. I took a large and normally am a medium in tops. I got my mom one for her birthday this summer and she loves it so much that she asked for another one for Christmas. I got her the blue. She also needed to size up. She normally is a small and took a medium.

  16. I have a mens sherpa hoodie and wear it all the time. It's very warm and a little on the snug side so if guys like there hoodies roomy size up.

  17. I got one of these two years ago, which I believe was the first year they offered it, and I love it! It is so snuggly and warm. I do dislike the pockets with the button on the current version. The one I have just has standard hooded sweatshirt pockets.

  18. Wouldn't buy from JC; similar items available way cheaper, old navy/gap, etc. too casual for me to spend $$ on, cute to wear at home, around neighborhood, etc.

  19. The blue ones have been on sale for a while in retail stores at 19.99 before any additional discounts. I don't think other brand's can be much cheaper than that.

  20. Bought last year's version late summer/early Fall on sale and LOVE it.!! It think it runs SMALL--bought one size up. It is SO soft and thick and comfy. Totally worth it--geez at $19.99 I would buy another!

I also lived in it for several days and now that it has gotten super cold--I am back to the old, "everybody has it but ya cannot beat the warmth" NORTH FACE-ugh! HELP ME~it's a fashion emergency! I try to steer clear of NF other than to drop off kiddos to school:)

  21. The hoodie is so tempting, I have come close to buying it many times but I am holding out for better deals!

I totally agree with everyone else who said this runs small -- I never wear anything but a S in J. Crew sweaters, but that size definitely was a bit snug for me around the tummy area...a M was a much better fit in this case.

  22. I just bought this on clearance for $15 as a part of the 30% off sale! I wasn't a huge fan of the buttons at first either, but the warmth and comfort make up for it. The double layer of fabric on the sleeves is especially great.

I usually wear an XS at Jcrew and I got a S. I like sweatshirts to be a little bigger than normal though.

My husband just mentioned last night that he thinks it looks so cozy and wanted one for himself.

  23. I should clarify that I got it for $15 in store, not online

  24. I tried on an ivory one of these a few months ago in my B&M. I loved the way it felt and looked. However, I also felt the sizing was off.

I usually am an XS or S in J crew and only wear a 30B bra. I tried a S and couldn't even fasten it. I sized up to a M and it was still too tight around the chest. I tried on a L and it was huge everywhere.

Cute, but not cut for me.

  25. I tried this hoodie and was disappointed in the sizing and the quality . For quality and a thick hoodie, I wear the "Remix" hoodie by Lululemon Athletica-they are made of bonded fleece which is the "old school" thick fleece that is common for university sweatshirts (like the Champion heavyweight). The price is a bit steep at $83.00 but they come in lots of fun colors and the quality is second to none (as I L-O-V-E hoodies, I've tried a lot...J.Crew, C&C,Splendid,Lucky Brand ect...).

  26. I LOVE my sherpa hoodie. I bought mine last year in the ivory when it went on sale and I am still loving it. It is totally soft and snuggly. This year I bought one for my son, daughter, husband and friend (xmas pres) with the HOHOHO promo so now we will all be snuggly.

About the sizing- I agree, it is a fitted sweatshirt. So depending on the look you want, you many need to size up. I took my usual size Medium to keep the fitted look. I struggled between getting the M and L but the M looked better on me.

I agree on the cost- WAY to much at full price but on sale, its a good buy.

  27. almost forgot- I don't wear it dressed up- it feels too much like a sweatshirt to wear it dressed up like the jcrew model. I wear it with jeans.

  28. I just got back from my local B&M where I got the hoodie in blue for 10.49. It is definitely worth at least what I paid, but never the 69.50 full price. It is super cozy and I especially love having sherpa in the hood, but even going a size up it's a mite tight in the chest. Not room enough for anything but a tank/ thin tee under, but for less than eleven bucks I won't complain. I agree that it would look wrong dressed up, it calls out for jeans or some cozy pj or track pants.

  29. I'm wearing mine right now in the same pacific blue as the one on the model! I wear mine with a white tee or tank, more casual/looser fit jeans, and Jack Purcells.

  30. just got mine in dk cloud and the med blue, forgot the name, but it's the one the model is wearing...omg, i can't explain how much i love them. wish i had never spent my $$$ on juicies and A&F's, these are so awsome, they are more fitted which i really like, i got xs which is my usual size. absolutely love them, wish i had gotten one in all the colors!!!!!

  31. I purchased the Sherpa Hoodie in navy about a month ago, and I have to say... this really is THE BEST hoodie. EVER.
It's a really simple, classy, looks great, goes with everything, and not to mention, it's Comfortable and WARM! (I'm ALL for comfort). I definitely have found my 'go-to hoodie'. I'm definitely looking forward to purchasing a few more in different colors.
    Absolutely Fabulous~!
    Highly recommended!

  32. I bought the hoodie in navy last month for $40 in store--$49.99 stickered with 15% student discount + 10% discount card from giving them my email. I agree with the comments that it has a tight fit. The first M one I tried was actually too tight, but the M of another color fit just fine, so I found another M in navy, which was better, though still snug. I don't like that the zipper is a brass color, as it stands out against the dark navy, but that's really the only negative thing about it. I fell in love it with it the moment I saw it in the catalog, and I love it just as much now that I own it. The fleece is super warm, and the lining of the sleeves is a very soft cotton.

  33. Just purchased this item with the extra 30% and 25% coupon...Ended up being about $20 dollars. Too good a deal to pass. I love how soft it is, and for sure I agree it runs small. I usually wear XS at Jcrew with no problems, but for this one, I had to go with size S. Highly recommended!
