J.Crew's Too Good To Last Offer {30% off & free ship}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Anon at 12:37 AM, mjMuffin, & Green_Dino (in this post), Anon at 12:38 AM (in this post), Anon at 12:39 AM, JLiz & Anon at 1:50AM (in this post), Anon at 12:54 AM, JLiz, Anon at 8:14 AM, Whitney, & Twiga (in this post), as well as Dina, who let us know about J.Crew's latest promotion. :)

J.Crew is offering 30% off and *free shipping* on orders of $150+ with promo code JINGLE. This offer expires 12/16/08.

I am happy to see all these promotions being offered, especially since I don't remember J.Crew ever offering this many (consecutively) before. :) (I mentioned this earlier, but I have a feeling that they will be offering a promo until the holiday season is over too). :)

Are you planning to take advantage of this offer, or wait a bit longer (for better deals), or avoid shopping online (e.g. prefer to shop at their B&M stores)? :)

  1. Does anyone have the suede glenbrae boots they can comment on? I'm wondering whether they are stiff, structured and hold their shape or does the suede tend to wrinkle and look slouchy? Thanks!

  2. Love this offer!! I'm stuck in the midwest in an ice storm with 3 small boys, no B&M near me so I'm ordering (I mostly do on-line shopping)! Probably ordering the Cloud necklace (comments on it, anyone?), a merino cardigan and a few basic tees. I've ordered numerous times over the last few weeks and have had only one minor issue - all other orders have been great!

  3. So, I cant use this promo over the in-store red phone?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Elizabeth in MO I have the cloud necklace and it is lovely! The beads are a pretty peachy-pink color...I think they are more peach than the photo shows. It's not as heavy as I thought it would be too, which is great.

As for me I am still stalking a few things online. I'm not sure if I'll just the 30% this time but I'll be browsing.

  5. At least for me, the website isn't allowing up to click through to an item...

  6. OT- I know Shipley coat received a stellar review in a past, but I can't find that post. Please, please could someone post new info on it- fit? fabric? color? at earliest convenience? I need to buy a new ivory coat and I like this one.
    Big TIA!!

  7. I don't know what to do! There are a few items I still want to order. . .but I sort of want to wait and see if it's 40% off with free shipping next week! The deals are so great right now!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I checked the sale section twice and found nothing in my size. Hopefully things will added.

  9. La bonne flaneuse, what a spectacular blog site you have! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am knitter too, just can't find time now. I used to knit neat sweaters in 2 days!! ( granted, I worked on them non-stop).:)))

  10. Another coat I like is Wool-cashmere plaza coat with Thermore in ivory. Any thoughts? suggestions? Thank you very much!

  11. I am eyeing a couple of things... but they are still too pricey even with the discount for me right now having bought gifts for other recently...if it goes to 40% off and free shipping I would probably buy...maybe next week...

Has anyone successfully used an extra 25% off red card on the phone? What did you need to tell the person? Thanks.

  12. Well, people that shop at the B & M have been getting this deal for weeks on sale items. It is about time they did it online...and is nice they include all items....

I won't be using this code though...

  13. The sales are tempting but I have overspent on past sales it is time to stop.

  14. flaneuse: Thanks for your comments!
Slastena: I have the wool-cashmere Plaza coat in charcoal from a few years ago - gorgeous, classic, very soft, and TTS. No WOW factor, but it is timeless, I'll wear it for many years, and I always get compliments on it. I'm sure it's gorgeous in the ivory. I don't know if the fabric is exactly the same now (as others have mentioned fabrics are thinner now), but I do love my plaza coat. Good luck!

  15. Slastena: If you go to Gigi Gone Shopping blog listed on the blogroll you will find a review of the Shipley coat.

  16. I couldn't help myself, there was one mediterranean blue herringbone ecole jacket left in my size, cross your fingers for me that it's actually in stock!!!

So I also got the Bromley boots to get the discount. Hope they are up to par for Northeast winter weather, we'll see.

The rest of the sale stuff is really picked over, not much left in certain colors or sizes. Bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I messed up - the previous comment is actually from Elizabeth in MO!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Slastena: I have the Plaza coat in camel with thermore and I have it in charcoal without. If you are getting Thermore, I recommend sizing up. Thermore does make a difference (temperature wise) with this coat. I love the cut of the Plaza. The coat is super soft (for some reason the charcoal is softer than the camel) and very well made. I feel that this coat is TTS without Thermore, but like I said size up with the Thermore. One other thing about fit, I usually like my coat to be able to fit a heavy sweater underneath, which this coat can do, but it also looks fine with a lighter weight shirt. Very versatile coat.

    ReplyDelete
  19. OK - I'm really messing up! SORRY! Not the previous post, but the one from "e" is from Elizabeth in MO! I need more coffee!

  20. Not much left right now I want to buy, I have been so crazed, buying sooooooo much at JC, it's embarassing to even go to my usual B/M. But, I'll check out the website again. I have 2-3 orders coming, so we'll see if they are ok (ie, got the right item ordered, etc). I wore the tres roses putty cami under a velvet jacket to church yesterday, and got lots of compliments ~ I love it, just the perfect layering piece for right now/.

  25. hi everyone!

I am curious if anyone can comment on the lulu flats? I have the peep toes, and they ran large for me (went down .5 size). Are the flats the same way? Or are they tts?

    thanks so much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Slastena, I have the plaza in ivory with thermore, and I actually found that this year's version runs a little large in the shoulders, and thus I would not recommend sizing up. I actually had to size down--most of my sweaters from JCrew are smalls (4s and 6s), but the Plaza coat in size 2 fit perfectly, whereas the 4 was huge on me.

The ivory is so, so lovely, but I've been so afraid about getting it dirty that I haven't worn it out that much!

    ReplyDelete
  27. yes there isn't anything that is in the size and or color i want!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon 9:57

Me Too! I didn't realize it was a 1504 + to get the 30% off.. guess i was spoiled by the last promo.

Oh well i went ahead and got the Carrie Dress! at 49$ i couldn't let it get away!

    ReplyDelete
  29. slastena: I really liked the plaza coat on the model, but I did not like how much it belled out at the bottom on me. But I am short and I like things that fit close to my body. I thought the Shipley did a better job of skimming my silhouette. Also, I agree with who said the plaza with thermore would be very heavy ... it was. :)

  30. Aficionadas, I can't decide whether or not to pull the trigger! Should I buy a Super 120s pants, jacket, and skirt for $273? It's a nice suit and it's a great deal, but do you think I should hold off until after the holidays or do you think I should buy now?

    ReplyDelete
  31. SOMEONE HELP - I am so indecisive!

I do not own a coat. I am torn between Ivory Shipley / Black Shipley / Black Lille.

What do you think? Have never seen either IRL, but have seen great reviews of both here.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Has anyone bought the Brushed Gold-Lame skirt? I am really liking it. Fit, color IRL, drape, etc. opinions would all be welcome. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is anyone having trouble online? i can see the items, but when i click to prder they cannot process, it's very frustrating!

  36. Anon@ 8:28: I don't have the glenbrae boots, but I tried the flat suede Glenbraes on in the store on Saturday. They were terrible... because I was expecting structured, and they are not. The slouched, and not in a good way. They wrinkled and look cheap, I think. I want the high glenbrae boots and those look more structured but it's so hard to tell.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm mad at myself. I didn;t take advantage of HOHOHO promo and now pretty much everything I really wanted is gone in my size/color. I am interested the the onyx sequins sweater dress though. anyone have a review of it? Thanks! and happy shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  38. anyone have a review of the high beckett boots in black? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  39. em - i have the tall glenbreas - in flats and heels - and they are definitely not slouchy. they stand up on their own (i have also taken care after each time i have worn them to put the cardboard back inside to help retain the shape). i dont know how they look with jeans tucked in, i have only worn them with socks (paired with a skirt/dress), and i think sometimes pants tucked in give them a more slouchy look. hth

  40. Review of the Onyx Sequin Dress

I received it last week as part of my HOHOHO purchase in a size 2. I really wanted to love it, at $56 it was a great deal and I thought it would be perfect for a New Years Eve party. But alas, it was not meant to be. The fitting is pretty true to size and the merino is thicker than the sweaters and has a nice drape to it. The sequins are great, an understated level of sparkly. But the problem was with the chest area. First off, it is more fitted in the bust than I was anticipating, I am a D cup and it was pretty tight, so that is something to consider. However, my real problem was with the neckline. Maybe if you are small chested you can pull it off without some type of camisole under the dress, but the v neck goes all the way to your sternum. Without something underneath I felt uncomfortable. I tried for a stretch black tank underneath but it took so much way from the dress, the neck line was totally different and it just looked odd to wear a party dress with a tank top underneath.

So in the end it wasn't for me, I was super bummed though. It was definitely a pretty dress.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Like others, I have totally overspent with the HOHOHO promotion! I am still waiting for 2 more orders to come in so I won't be buying anymore for a while. If prices do go lower, I may purchase a few items but I really need to stop! :) These sales have been fantastic!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Priya - Thanks for the review of the sequins dress. I'm an A cup so maybe I'd have better luck with the neckline, although I agree that the idea of wearing a tank under such a pretty dress seems a little weird.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am so glad they are doing another promotion online. I went to my B&M store yesterday and there was hardly anything left on sale. Mostly everything was warm weather clothing. And this is in Oklahoma! It will be cold here until March. I never used the HOHOHO codes so I definitely took advantage of this one before my sizes were gone!

    ReplyDelete
  44. One more thing...the candy tees were still full price at my B&M store!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I was at the Rochester, MI store and only select colors of the candy tee were on sale. And they were all sold out of the deep pink color.

  46. kater: i have lulu flats in the size size as the peeptoes (size 6.5) - they are fab!

em: ok well this is kinda embarassing but i have the high heel leather glenbrae boots *and* the high heel beckett boots. The HH glenbraes I got a 7.5 for room with socks (store only had 6.5 and 7.5 avail) and they are narrow so it's also to get your foot in. I might have been able to fit my foot in a 7 but it's already hard to take off the boot sizing up sometimes!

The becketts I got in a 7 and wore them the other day...not as comfortable and I had to put arch support and a ball of foot pad in. Probably should have gotten the larger size to allow for a full insert but in the store they felt fine on and with the zip it seemed the right choice rather than getting loose ones. Still TBD if these are going with me on the paris trip. hope this helps! they both look great with jeans tucked in, but are for narrow calves.

    ReplyDelete
  47. There is nothing left I am dying to having right now so I'm waiting for deeper markdowns (even with 30% off some prices are still not that appealing). Hopefully there will be more stock with returns and all after xmas.

I agree with previous poster that many stores do not have much sale section left. However, for any NYC gals, the store on 17th & 5th had a TON of cashmere and other sweaters left in the sale section. No bags and very few shoes left on sale though.

    ReplyDelete
  48. There's nothing left from Fall/Winter that I want-it's all gone.

However, this might be a good time to stock up on seasonless stuff that never goes on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Re the onyx dress, I ordered my regular size (10), and it was huge. I tried it with a plunge bra (I'm a 36c) and that did the trick, but there was a ton of extra fabric at the armpits sticking out. It was also not at all fitted in the waist or body, and I'm definitely not between sizes, I'm even at the larger side of a 10. I'm sending it back and reordered in am 8 and a 6, to make sure. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Priya - on the website they show the onyx dress with a white ribbed top underneath. You are so right - ruins the look of what should be a gorgeous party dress!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I finally received all of my parcels and everything shipped perfect.

I ordered the cotton Henley V-neck sweater, even though the description say it is fitted it runs large in the body, but seems to be fitted in the shoulders. Good thing I got this onsale because it is thin and not worth the fp. On sale it is worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. OT, but can anyone comment on the fit/sizing of the bouclé tweed short scarf coat. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Has anyone seen any Jamie bags on sale in stores? Which stores? I waited to long to order online and am kinda bummed.

    ReplyDelete
  54. ny-uws: SF Center store had a Jamie in yellow, not sure the price but it was at least *in* the sale section. I'm not sure if it's still there -- the store gets a lot of traffic.

    ReplyDelete
  55. mom-nyc: I read the coat is TTS. I am getting this coat in the mail tomorrow, I can verify and post my opinion on the size here if you want.

    ReplyDelete
  56. OT - has anyone tried on the toothpick jeans? Mine are coming today - I am so excited they are finally offering a 24 waist! Any thoughts on them so far?

    ReplyDelete
  57. *ny-uws*
I saw a gray Jamie at the San Diego, CA store on Saturday. It was a return, so it was the only one and was hanging on a hook (like a display). It was in good condition.

  58. J.Crew web always refresh the items in my shopping bag before I check out! So frustrating. Please don't refresh during a day!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm so torn! I really want to take advantage of this promo, but with all the issues I have been having with cancellations and delayed shipments, I am not willing to risk having gifts not arrive on time. I'll stick to the B&M (and maybe eBay, scary that eBay resellers can offer more reliable shipping.)

    ReplyDelete
  60. i hate ebay resellers. i hope jcrew realizes who are ebay resellers and denies them any returns.

    ReplyDelete
  61. and i certainly hope that jcrew realizeds who these same people are and doesn't consider them one of the "best customers" even if they do end up spending a lot of money there.

    ReplyDelete
  62. 10:07 Anon and Melanie: thank you very much for the fab reviews and advice on fit of Plaza. That really helped.

    ReplyDelete
  63. toothpick jeans, size 24? You must be a toothpick! ;)

Well, sounds like orders are coming pretty accurately and timely but AGAIN I had two more orders come and one is missing a sweater and a necklace is entirely the wrong one. I think J Crew "has it out" for me or something. Last night had to follow up on an overnight order from Friday that still had no tracking #--well, it wasn't submitted until Sat so two of my items were canceled! It's all rather ridiculous! I am officially out of things I want and SO glad nothing is pressing me to continue spending with them-for now, finito!

    ReplyDelete
  64. mom-nyc :
I bought BT scarf coat last week, I am usually 4 , but 2 fit me well ( even had a little room for sweater). Definitely recommend downsizing ( trend with many J Crew coats this season).
The color and fabric are the same as on "droopy flower Astrid"- bright berry. I like this color , but some were hoping it's a more muted pink and it's not- it's very bright indeed.
    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  65. what is wrong with jcrew ebay resellers? I personally like the fact that there are different sources to get jcrew items. So many items I want are not available on jcrew.com all the time. I am willing to pay a small margin for getting them easier (not be canceled, shipped faster, not getting other people returned used items).

    ReplyDelete
  66. Can someone please advise me on the fit of the Madeline dress?

I am usually a 2 or a 4 and the SA advised me to go with the 2.

Does anyone else own this dress and can tell me how it fits?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think I could have worn size 24 Toothpick Jeans when I was 9 years old, right before the growth spurt!

I think you are exactly the right body type for those. On most of us they will look like gym tights with pockets, lol. Go for it!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've been shopping Land's End and Boden. The deals are better at Land's End and Boden's sale started today and the skirt I wanted is 1/2 off!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anon @ 2:28- Ebay resellers can 'launder' what they buy and return. In other words, they can have someone else do the buying and returning so it's never traced to them. Sad but true.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I have actually sized up in my two coats that I bought from JCrew this fall. I need to be able to put a sweater on underneath them not just a thin shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am more often a 4 than a 2 and still needed the 2 in the Madeline to make it feel less like a pretty black sack on me. I agree with the SA that you should size down.

    ReplyDelete
  72. anon 2:42p
What does that even mean? Sorry, but I am confused.

  73. Someone inquired Re: the cloud necklace..It is REALLY big-so just be prepared for that. It is not for everyone.

  74. I decided to get Lille Heavy Wool Pique Coat. (Hoping to survive this winter /w it.) But I'm having a dilemma between size 4 and 6 b/c I usually wear 4-6 in other brands. My measurements are 34B bust, 25 natural waist, and 28 low waist. In regular sizing, which one should I get? 4 or 6? It'd be really helpful if anyone, or someone who owns this coat could tell me how it fits and stuff. Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Bugpin:

Joanie is an Ebay reseller. She has Susie and Sam do the buying and returning at the J Crew Store for her. J Crew is never able to connect Susie and Same to Joanie, and even if they can, there's no proof.

    Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Lily, I would go for the 4. You could always order both and return one though if you really aren't sure.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Lily,
I have the Lille Heavy Wool Pique Coat in Black and I love it. I have just about the same measurements as you. I got a 4 and it fit me just fine. The tie around the waist is great too because it gives you shape. Its a super great deal! I say get the 4. The 6 may be too bulky on you.

    ReplyDelete
  78. no need to discuss much about ebay resellers' return strategy. jcrew items are not returnable more than2/3 of a year.

    ReplyDelete
  79. For Dani CA -asking about the high Beckett in Black. The leather is nice, fairly soft. They do tend to scrunch a little at the ankles but not terrible. They fit tts imo. They are comfortable for work but I wouldn't wear them for long walks (I have walked about 2 miles at a time in them and they felt fine). My calves are pretty muscular, but the boots are not tight on me. The only thing I don't like is the roughed up heel, it just doesn't look great, wish they would have finished it. For sp they are worth it imo.

  81. priya,

i bought a 0 in the onyx dress and its too small for me on the bust, i was hoping if i'd be able to buy your sz 2? i can be reached at j.monicakim at gmail

    marta B,

i have the gold-lame skirt and it is BY FAR my favorite. the texture and pattern are just simply gorgeous and very festive without being too flashy...today i wore it with an ivory turtleneck with nude shoes and got a lot of compliments. my friends couldn't believe it was a 69$ skirt. i'm not a big fan of the belle skirts because i feel they're a little too round and full for me, so the pleats on the gold-lame skirt reduce the fullness and the silhouette is perfect. i'd DEFINITELY recommend!

    ReplyDelete
  82. i also ordered the onyx dress. in theory, i love it. but i too cannot figure out what to do with that deep neckline. i tried a tissue turtleneck with it but it made it look like a weird jumper- definitely not a party dress.

i am pretty bummed that i can't figure out a way to make this work. i thought i was going to be so ahead of the game on what i was going to wear for new years.

    ReplyDelete
  83. boo...website isn't working for me either.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The toothpick jeans are horrible!!! They remind me of these awful denim leggings my mother wore around 1990. Definitely not my style... Back to the store they go!

  85. OT re the Rivington Boots:

I ordered the 6M Espresso - received a box labeled correctly but inside, they were 6M Black (which would have been ok if I didn't already own them in black).

The CSR I spoke with on the phone said that she had received another call about the same issue for the same item (correct box, incorrect contents/colour). Hopefully this was only a one-time mix-up.

Fingers crossed that the "We Will Find It" will be successful! Last time I tried this service, no one got back to me at all...quite disappointing. =( Here's hoping!

  89. suilove-how does that skirt fit? Does it fit like Belle-in terms of Belle I needed to go down to a zero due to fullness yet it still fit my waist. Sounds like it is less full (full not working for me in the Belle either). Where does it sit on waist--Belles tend to sit real low and my long torso just gets longer and my legs shorter-LOL! TIA!
Site down so I cannot see it either!!

  91. J.Crew is just ridiculous - at what point does the website get fixed, and properly?? They should be grateful anyone is buying from them in these economic times - obviously, J.Crew is not doing well financially and so you'd think they'd fix problems that prevents shoppers from buying.

  92. Update on items at San Diego store:

Jamie bag: no longer available at San Diego Fashion Valley store. It is on hold for a customer. I saw a shimmering Jamie and metallic Thomson bags at the store. And one metallic uptown tote.
My findings: Shimmer Metallic Scarf - the store has a few in pink color, and may be 2 left in white. The SA was not able to match the online price but gave the “cold winter accessories sales” discount and honored the 25% card.
There are still many Licorice Tshirts available in different sizes (priced at $39.99 for some reason, still not on sale) The SA honored the online sale price and honored the 25% discount card. There are other candy tshirts on sale. This means the store will honor the 30% off sale discount.
There is one Lydia solid ruffle halter left. I think size M or L in plum color. 30% off sale and they honor the 25% discount price. It came to $10.49
Merino luxe long cardi - $20.99 after discounts. Very nice item.
No Sean bags available for purchase. They used to have 2 in tulip color.

And as always, thank you to all the wonderful SAs at San Diego store. They were very nice and helpful.

Please let me know if you come across a pair in 6M Espresso (regular calf) at your local B&M! I'm in Canada so I suppose that's my only hope now! =)

  94. Oh my! I just spent another $500+! These deals are too nice to pass up, but, at some point, I will need to stop. It's a good thing I will be traveling to Europe this week and staying there until New Year's...
I agree with other bloggers, the better deals are yet to come. And, without non returnable "final sale" items, good chance some of us will feel guilty and return some of the items purchased - which could mean that some of them will be available in my size again!
This has been truly a JCrew christmas for me! Fantastic deals!!!

The boots were in the box, but as soon as I picked it up, I knew it was too light for there to be a coat in it. I open the box, and there is a black Silk Taffeta Lorelei dress!!! AHHHH I'm royally pissed, and I called CS right away, and she tells me their systems are down. I am soo ripped right now, I don't even know what to do! How do I prove to CS that I never received the coat, because it says that I did on my packing slip!! This is a frickin mess. I'm interested in understanding it, as I've been selling all kinds of stuff on ebay for 8 years and always assumed most people on there were just honest people like me. And yeah, I return whatever I want to JCrew, because that's what the whole return policy thing is for!

    So, please, someone explain! thanks!

  98. Jennifer: You were lucky the CS rep did it for you, I tried last week and I received the usual speech "You know the rules, only 1 price adjustment allowed on sale items" the only reason I received the sale price was because of their mistake, I ended up getting a small adjustment for which I am thankful for, but they made feel like such a criminal.

  99. Okay, the site is down because you people are crashing it. No site can withstand this many hungry shoppers. Now can everyone get off the damned thing for 2mins while I complete my order. j/k

  100. Em: See anon 4:45. That is your explanation. It is an active imagination passing the time. Moving on.....

  101. JaneEsq: I think we are about the same size, and I tried on the Madeline dress in a size 2...it fit, but was very low cut in the front...I would have needed to wear a cami under the dress, or make some sort of alteration in order to wear it without one. I didn't get the chance to try on the size 0, but think it might have actually worked better than the 2. HTH!!!

  102. Anon at 4:45 PM: why did you open the box if you knew it was too light? If the item is on the slip and you opened the box you cannot prove that the item was not there.

    ReplyDelete
  103. ^okay...now i don't know what YOU are talking about. weirdness.

Anon-I have had numerous missing items in pretty much ALL of my recent orders since TURKEY code came out. I did get one or two from recently that were okay but agian. I just had a screwed up order missing an item and one wrong item. A true afficionada I must say when I continue to order~I am a glutton for punishment. J Crew has sent me overnight replacements for things that were missing and guess what? More things were missing!!! Laughable. Only thing goos I can add is that they were perfectly accepting of the situation and handles with a credit to my card and follow up ti find the items however possible. Also a better discount and free overnight. So, good luck;)

  104. priya,

thanks for the heads up, i'll give them a call right now=) hopefully they still have it!

    bugpin,

i can't wear any of the belle skirts in a size 0 because even though they fit my lower waist its too long on me so my legs look way too short...comedic almost, same goes with the pencil skirts altho i have the gold shimmer, shimmery python, double serge and the francie all in a zero, but the gold-lame i ordered in a 0 and the waist does not hit as low and i'm thinking the length is shorter because it hit my knees. i wouldn't size down particularly but it is definitely not as large/full everywhere compared to the belles. hope this helps!

also i just got the boucle tweed scarf coat and i must say you have to size down for a closer fit. the length is also a bit in between...it covers my butt but cuts me 1/2, so tim gunn would not be pleased with the proportions but i'm a bit weary about getting a petite 2 since the chest measurement is larger than the regular 0 and petite 0 just SOUNDS too small LOL...in a huge dilemma.

i also got the metallic houndstooth marie coat. its really stunning just looking at it but it might be just too much for some people. i have the phoebe and i really liked it but the marie isn't as close fitting ( i wouldn't say cocoon but its more of a classic fit) i paired it with a black scarf to tone the collar down a little and just tried it on with a plain beige sweater and dark skinny jeans..and i like it indoors in my closet mirror but i'm not too sure how i'd feel about wearing it in broad daylight. LOL.

Don't worry, CS will believe you and refund your money for the coat. This has happened to me three times in the last month and I have had no problem getting a refund. It's been happening a lot , so they are used to it and will have no problem processing a refund for you. Mine have posted on my JC card in just a few days.

Unfortunately, it's hard to say if they will be able to find you another coat. All three of my items have been sold out by the time the package arrived and I learned they were missing. I know they've been offering some people other items at a discount, so if there's another coat you like, maybe be prepared with the style number when you call.

    HTH!

  106. JCrew's website really sucks rocks....down again. crap! I am going to look at B.R., Land's End and Boden. They might have what I want. And I bet their websites actually work!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Of course I have a problem with resellers. They buy up all of the last available merchandise (you can go and see they will have the same skirt in every size) and then charge a higher price for it! Why would anyone be ok with this? It makes the price you pay higher then what you would pay for it at JCrew. (hence why they do it). You can see a prime example of this by the rose tissue tee everyone wanted. So those of you who are grateful to these people for doing this are ignorant- you want them to buy up all the merchandise so you can pay more for it? Yeah, that makes sense.
The comment about returns probably was in reference to items they couldn't resell. If they can't resell an item, they should at least not be able to return it. But by using different people to buy and do returns, they get around JCrew knowing what they are doing. Obviously if you have to do something like that, you know what you're doing is wrong, and you don't care anyway. So I don't want to hear resellers justifying what you're doing by saying you tracked down hard to find items. You know what you do is wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  108. anon 4:52--that is just downright strange to suggest she shouldn't open the box. I mean, let's get real. What, she should wait, go to a store and open it in front of a SA because she feels it may be too light? Odd.

    ReplyDelete
  109. For JaneEsq - I tried on the Madeline dress this wkd and although it had great potential the front was ridiculously low on me. I am usually a solid 2 and it was a hair baggy on me, so if in doubt I would definitely go smaller.

    ReplyDelete
  110. To the anon who hates resellers: I'm right there with you, baby. They're greedy little shits, and no, they don't "track" down anything - they buy in bulk and leave the rest of us unable to order retail from j.crew. They are ENTIRELY different from people who buy a skirt on final sale and find it doesn't fit & so put it up for sale on ebay - I am just making this clarification in case of confusion.

Regarding the wrong item in a box, just call CS and explain it to them. Trust me, they're used to it - it's happened to me, too. I don't know why anyone would suggest you shouldn't have opened the box - that's just stupid. Good luck with getting the item you actually ordered :-)

  111. thank you bug pin for that comment, because that post regarding my missing coat was just assanine, excuse my french. what moron wouldn't open their shipment just to confirm? that is really poor advice, why do people post moronic responses on this blog? anyways, i thank everyone else for their kind words and helpfulness, and that is exactly why i read this blog every single day because i love the community alexis has created.

    ReplyDelete
  112. anon at 4:45,
Don't worry. Just call them again and explain what happened. Even though you did open the box,(Nothing wrong with that. I would do exactly the same thing.)they would probably just credit your account and maybe ask you to mail the incorrect item back to them at their expense. I had experience with missing item during the TURKEY code and wrong items before and everything eventually turned out fine. They might not be able to find you your boots but you will get your money back. hth

For those of you that have it - what do you wear it with? Ideas or anyone have any Polyvore sets?

  114. Website down for anyone else? Thought it was just me, used a different browser, still doesn't work. Bummer :(

    ReplyDelete
  115. Sydney, Correct! yYes, I too don't have anything against people who sell items that they personally don't like, doesn't fit, don't use, etc... What I DON'T like are those who you can see that all they sell is JCrew stuff and have every size in certain items. They actually go and buy all they can of certain items and then jack up the price on ebay. They boast about only selling JCrew merchandise like that's a good thing.

  116. The deals may get better after Christmas but I would hate to miss out on some of the items I really want!

  122. Why do people post what part of the country they are in when they post about the site being down?

  123. Because this morning the site was working for some people and not for others. Also, it did not work in Firefox.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Completed my order on Firefox, SF,Ca at about 1100PT

  125. It is actually in and out. I don't think it has anything to do with what browser you are using. It's just too much traffic for the site to handle.

  127. Dani: I got the Cloud Necklace the other day, and really like it! It definitly is a statement piece, beautiful soft pinkish color - not bright or glittery. And, not too heavy either, actually lighter than I thought it would be. Haven't worn mine yet, but I think it'll look pretty with a lot of outfits, as it sort of picks up the color of whatever top you're wearing. I've posted a review with some pics on my blog, and there's also one or two polyvore outfits with it.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I can see J.crew sites but can't check out:(

    ReplyDelete
  129. The cloud necklace seems to be much lighter than the bubble necklace. The bubble necklace is a little bit heavy for me and it tinkles every time I walk:(

    ReplyDelete
  130. he site is working now

    ReplyDelete
  131. I agree, the buble necklace is heavy. Had to return it. The cloud is lighter. It is also easier to combine with things.

  132. does anyone have the serge french bow tie coat...i bought it and would like to hear some reviews.

  133. I still can't get on. Shall we entertain ourselves by listing the things we wanted and didn't get that are currently sold out?

  134. I can see the site but it will not add items to my cart.

  135. My HOHOHO Order arrived...I got my box at work so I tried on what I could quickly (yay productivity).

Cashmere Heirloom Henley--I bought two sizes, two colors--the size that fits I got the Citron which was the most desirable color left to me in that size. The color is certainly bold, but I think could be fun--does anyone have any thoughts on Citron? How to wear, what looks good with? The sweater is cute and I love those buttons.

Perfect Fit Scoopneck T in Cloud--like the shape but the color is a little bit too gray for me--and its that solid gray that is more of a "blue gray purpley" color gray rather than a neutral--may have to try a different color.

Wide Leather Jeans belt in cognacy color--love this belt! Recommend.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the Citron while the site is still down, thanks all!

  136. I emailed my online PS, but haven't heard back...........anyone know what the measurement differences are in a tall v regular Maggie (or a good guess)?

  137. The website is down again now. The "Stay Tuned" message is up.

I had it open in another tab reviewing past orders and was on this blog as the active page. I saw the tab change to "Untitled Document" and went to check.

They just cannot process the volume of people browsing and ordering I would guess. And there is probably an army of people processing returns to update inventory with the hopes of selling it off before the holidays. Bet it's crazy working there these days. And not in a good way!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I was able to get a number of items on my wishlist with the 20% off. I didn't want to wait for a better deal since some would likely be sold out and that is definitely the case today. Stock is being replenished as returns are processed but it is flying out the door just as quickly for some highly coveted items.

I used the 30% promo on some full priced items including a gorgeous bikini. Perfect for my upcoming vacation. I can't remember the name of the style and the site is down so I cannot check either. Can't wait to wear it in Bali in a few weeks.

  139. Anon with the missing coat -

Don't you know you're supposed to X-ray all packages before opening? Or you could weigh them with an accurate scale that is set to deduct the weight of the shipping box, plastic, shipping manifest, etc. Then, and only then, will you be certain you have all the items in your order and you can open the box!

    :P

  140. Thanks to FFM and Anon for advice on the Madeline dress!

    WEBSITE DOWN GRRRR

  141. Anon with the missing coat:

This same thing happened to me with the TURKEY promo. I ordered a chocolate Lady Day and a couple of shirts. The package was delivered and it was so small and there was no coat. I called CS right away and explained and she took it right off my bill, and luckily there was another in stock, so she had it overnighted to me (at no cost of course). I was very impressed. I order from JCrew quite frequently and this was the first time I had something like this happen. I hope you get it resolved. That really sucks!

In case you're still debating the cloud t-shirt...I have it and love it! I find it looks great with honey glaze, peacock, and plum, all from the fall line. I also like it with the atlantic (medium-dark blue) belle skirt. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Ok seriously I think I might have a legitimate addiction to J Crew...but I am still hemming and hawing over the Madeline dress. I have a size 2 on hold for me and I would get the 30% off if I bought it by tomorrow but I can't seem to bite the bullet...probably because I know how much I have spent this month.

Is this dress worth the $138 and change?

    HELP!

    ReplyDelete
  144. I received an email confirming my order. Everything on there is listed as open. On my account page, the whole order is listed as released.
What does open and released mean?
    TIA!

  145. Anon@ 9:16 and Anon with missing coat -- my TURKEY order came with FOUR missing items... a pair of Lulus, a cashmere sweater, a scarf and my black MAGGIE!!! :( I am so sad. The black Maggie is SO sold out and there was nothing they could do :( Same thing, they refunded me the cost of the four items, and did a "find it for you" (which immediately came back that they could not find it). I am so bummed and now just keep checking back on the site. I feel your pain :)
(anyone out there that wants to sell me their Black Maggie in size 14?) :)

  146. HELP...
I just placed my first J Crew order online for two Holiday dresses that I am not so sure I will keep. My issue is they would not let me stack discounts. I tried two seperate CS reps and the both said "nope". I know I have seen others do it on here, so please give me your secret. Do you have an insider? Someone I could contact?
I more than likely would not have ordered if I would have known they would refuse to add my teachers discount along with the 30% JINGLE code.
    Thanks for your help!

  147. I have just recently turned to be a jcrew fan. If I bought $150 worth of items (Paid $105 because of the 30% discount) and returned everything except for a sweater (worth $50 - but paid $35 because of the 30% discount), will they charged me $50 or $35? Will they still honor the 30% discount since the items I actually purchase falls below $150? - Kristy
