New Arrivals Online & New Sale Items

I thought it was just me, but Anonymous at 6:29 PM (in the "Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?" post) also thinks that J.Crew updated their site with some new items.

I also think I saw many more new items in the sale section (and many marked down in price) yesterday then I remember seeing the day before, Monday. {Of course, I think it's too bad those new sale items weren't available on Monday, when the 30% off promotion was still active. ;) }

P.S. "thanks!" to Anonymous at 12:12 AM in this post who let us know that (1) the September catalog will be arriving in a few days at J.Crew's stores and (2) stores are carrying some items not available online yet.

Are you seeing some new arrivals on the website? Are you excited about the new arrivals? Have you been noticing any new arrivals in stores?

  1. I haven't seen many new (fall) sale items, although, I have seen "new to the sale page items" that are actually older items (e.g. Corrine Sweater). What I am wondering is if I see something different online than from some of you. There have been a few items mentioned on this blog that I can't see unless I type them into the search box. And since I pretty much scrutinize the site daily, I know I'm not missing anything.

  2. the september catalog should be in stores in the next few days!
    go check it out.
also there are many items in stores that are not online yet.

    ReplyDelete
  3. jcrewbug - is there a way you can view the sale page by newly added items? I haven't seen that many new items either but I did notice however that there are sizes now that weren't there before.

  4. Okay so I read my catalogue cover to cover today and then went online to fill my shopping bag. I was disappointed that the items were not there yet. I find it frustrating to get the mag but not be able to buy the items now - or rather order them and pray they arrive - because I don't have a B&M. Alexis thanks for the opportunity you give us to vent our issues with j.crew. It makes me sad that people want to leave the blog b/c j.crew sucks right now and there is a need for distance. My only hope is that corporate is reading this like they say and really make changes to keep loyal customers happy. This blog and all the smart suggestions that have come out in the last two months could change j.crew for the better.

  5. kathy t: I haven't found a way to do that. Some bloggers have noticed that, in the past, the system updates and adds items and sizes at 6:45 AM or so. Now I've seen updates happening around 9:30 AM. So if you are looking for something in particular check around that time and it may pop back up. Good Luck!

  6. Thanks! My sister sees me on the J.Crew website all day long and she just walks by and says "STOP! You have enough stuff! I think I can tell if things have been added by looking at the number of items available in each category...

  7. I noticed new "old" items added to the non-sale section. Obviously a website glitch. Surprise, surprise. However, I have not noticed any truly new items to the website.

The sale section does have some additional markdowns on things like swimsuits, and I did notice that the Tuesday Trench in khaki is now $129 instead of $159.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yes I noticed some markdowns. I think the pleated garden skirt is down from 69.99 to 49.99.

    ReplyDelete
  9. hey yogichicki...you said that you read the new catalog cover to cover. Did you by any chance notice if their winter outwear was available yet?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm also surprised to see that the Watercolor Floral Madison dress is already on Final sale. Has anyone tried it on? I saw it in store and it looked very pretty in the deep atlantic color.

  11. Wish J.Crew would post up their September catalog or any of their new catalog online for those who haven't receive it yet. :(

It would be excellent to see what is coming.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Good reminder that the catalog will be in stores. Hopefully I'll get one this week in the mail.

Completed 1 day, 2 hrs, 48 min of my self-imposed. 7-Day Clothing Purchase Fast. Woo hoo!

  13. I was so excited to hear that the new catalogs were out and checked my mail, but nothing. :) I cannot wait to see it though!

  14. I noticed that there was some new sweaters in the new arrivals section, or maybe I just noticed them before.

I received the new Sept. cataloq yesterday, a lot of sequins, beaded, ruffle items, beautiful colors, same as August. There is outerwear in the cataloq. I found the stuff expensive, we need those coupon codes.

yogichicki: It takes a day and a half before the items appear on line, some CS will sell them to you, again it depends on who you get.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I forgot to add to my post there is a big apology in the cataloq for the recent website mess, very similar to the one that was on the website.

  16. I have a tracking number for an item that was supposedly shipped but then it got cancelled...that is really strange and not a good sign of any improvement.

ALSO, there is a JCrew charge on my VISA for over $100 (I won't give the exact amount) but I did not make a purchase in that amount recently nor in the last 2 months....I went back through all my orders....I found one for approx $25 for a scarf that I was not charged for in July that is just showing in Aug. but like I said....I went through all my receipts since the website downgrade:) and nothing to match the over $100 charge! JCrew really is getting on my very last nerve. I honestly and completely understand people leaving.....I am this close...JCrew just leaves a bad feeling in my belly now.....so sad when it used to make me happy.

    ReplyDelete
  17. anon 5:21 That is the scary part, the charges on the cc. I have noticed strange things on mine but until I receive all my parcels I cannot do anything about it.

Did they charge you for the cancelled order?

I understand how you feel, I am that close in leaving myself.

    ReplyDelete
  18. anoy@5:37: Yes, I was charged for the cancelled order but I see a credit so that is good.....

However, what is a charge for the over $100 amount all of a sudden doing there???? I am just royally mad...I have gone through all my receipts, etc. and there are matches for all items received/purchased except that....plus I was on vacation and I know I did't buy anything recently!!!! If it is not off my statement I guess I will just dispute it with VISA...this close, this close....AHHH!

    ReplyDelete
  19. anon 5:40- The CS at this time of morning are usually very good, have you call them yet? you probably will receive the standard canned response "I don"t know", but you might get lucky. I have had great luck calling at this time of day.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Morning, all - it looks like I was charged twice for my recent shipment of Jackie cardigans. Keep a close eye on your statements!

    ReplyDelete
  21. silver_lining: How long did it take JC to charge you for your order? ...I have noticed that it is taking them a long time to charge me for my orders. What a freaking mess!

    ReplyDelete
  22. there are DEF> new items in the sale section-I ordered the Waverly jacket in Almond, and a blue and white striped boatneck L/S tee, both of which were not there previously, in addition to the clementine cashmere sweater in white, all for under $97!! I was also able to use the extra30 code. this was yesterday morning at about 9:45 AM. I am noticing updates at about 9:30 AM now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. anon @ 6:22 - from what I can tell, they authorized my JC CC for the order total ($106) when I placed the order. I received the order on Monday, and this morning my total balance was increased by $212, with only one charge of $106 showing up. So I'm not sure what's going on, if that authorized amount will go away or what. I'm going to give it a day or two and then give them a call. So annoying! I watch my statement like a hawk and have never had any problems (plus I used to order a lot more, especially in the FS/NM (free ship, no minimum) days).

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm sorry but this is really getting out of hand, beyond belief, I don't know what other phrases to use but JCrew really needs to get its act together....this is continuing on for WAY to long. My patience has run out......I am not buying anything after I use my rewards card until the issues are cleared up (even if that mean I order nothing until 2009)and I am then cancelling my JCrew CC.

    ReplyDelete
  25. bgd: hope you get your stuff and hope you don't get charged double:) Good luck.

I am not ordering anymore...who cares if it's a deal and then your card is a mess to deal with and it then could affect your rating....

    ReplyDelete
  26. not sure if this is where I should ask this but, any idea if there is a definitive time the updates happen each morning? is it 9 am for sure?

    ReplyDelete
  27. trina c - The consensus is about 9:30 am now (not sure what time zone we're all in, but it's definitely later morning than the 6:45 am we were used to).

anon @ 7:19 - I can definitely sympathize.. I've been considering cancelling my card as well. We've talked about it ad nauseum here, but what's the point of a card with no real rewards? Even the seasonal reward cards expire in about a month.

    ReplyDelete
  28. silver lining: yes, we have discussed it almost too much....I guess I am mostly upset about how they are charging people inaccurately and making me feel like my time (wasted) is not important having to figure out my messed up orders/charges...if only I had all those minutes back in my life!

    ReplyDelete
  29. On my way to work this morning, I passed the Jcrew store in Rockefeller center. They had a ton of new items. Everything looked cute. Im def. going to stop by during my lunch today

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anony. @8:09 Please report back on anything good:) Happy shopping....if only I had a B & M close by...I am too afraid to order online but I like hearing about things:)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I noticed JCrew has online catalogs now but of course with all their issues of late they don't even have the Aug. catalog up yet!

    ReplyDelete
  32. The only "new" thing I noticed is the confetti top - and that's a holdover from spring.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Report back about VISA charge....to make it short and sweet the problem is resolved and I had great, friendly help. Support Services don't get in until 8:00 am ( I think that is Eastern time) so I had to talk to a "regular gal" first but after 30 minutes on the phone it is all straightened out....crazy JCrew:)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I too and having issues with charges to my CC. I will be calling them today to discuss:

    1. 40% not applied to an order, resulting in $60 difference
    2. $50 rewards card not applied to an order
    3. New cashmere Lily cardigan that costs $60, and I was charged shipping. This for an item that came damaged to me and I originally paid $38. Resulting in a $38 difference. Plus, I don't even know if I will be charged return shipping on the damaged one I sent back.

So, J Crew has a total of $148 that they need to refund to me.

I'll let you know how it goes. Watch your statements Aficionadas!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I can't say...I don't frequent the site very much anymore...I just really despise the layout now, and I am *over* the continuing website/shipping issues...the fun and thrill of shopping the J.Crew website is gone. It's been almost 2 months since the website upgrade, aka fiasco, and it just seems that this should have all been fixed by now...enough is enough.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am also giving up on the website/catalog ordering. I will only check out sale sections at our local jcrew store.

I received an email this week that cancelled a backordered cashmere v-neck (that I had been given 30% off due to previous order screw-ups during their 'upgrades', plus my 15% educator discount! They said they "goofed" and were unable to fulfill the order, and GET THIS - they offered 15% off another order!

I wrote back and told them I want another sweater for the same price!! That was 3 days ago.

Also noticed charges on my MC charge for J Crew that seem like more shipments than I received. Will be checking that out today.

I agree with the previous poster - two months of problems is WAY TOO LONG, and these little "sorry" messages are pathetic!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I was supposed to be credited for my return shipping fees b/c JCrew sent me the wrong color. I was told the new system makes it very hard for them and if a finger slips even a bit the wrong color can be sent.....Whatever...anyway, it looks like I have been credited for the sweater but that the person tried to refund my return shipping but it did not go through. The CS lady said she would work to fix that....only took 25 min. to figure this one out for approx. $6 but hopefully I will get it.....I already had to make a special trip to mail it back....

    ReplyDelete
  38. I haven't seen any new items online... If anyone sees any gimme a point in the right direction

    ReplyDelete
  39. FFM: I can't stand the new website layout either...I keep trying but it takes so long to check it and I don't have time to keep going through each section, etc. At least they could put the pages on the TOP as well as the bottom so I don't have to keep scrolling down:( It used to be a fun quick daily check. I only check a couple of times a week now. If I had a B & M store to go to I wouldn't check AT ALL!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I used to purchase TONS of clothing online, but I too hate the new layout so much that I have been holding off. There is no possible way to see what the changes are to the sale section without spending a major chunk of time checking it out. With young children I just don't have that kind of time PLUS the new update time (around 9:30 a.m.) is horrible for me. I loved my routine of getting up early to see the new sale merchandise BEFORE the kids were out of bed. Grrrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  41. What all is different about the site that you guys have noticed? The sale section is way different (and slow and hard to use) but the main site sections seem roughly the same to me, with the exception of one feature I loved - the ability to page through items at the detail level. Now I have to click back to get to the listing page so I can click the next item. Annoying!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. gigiofca: congrats on the first day and a half of your fast! I haven't purchased anything either. well, since saturday. but if I can go almost a week (I'm planning on stopping by a B&M on friday night) I will be proud of myself. And who knows, maybe I won't even find anything friday night!

I'm trying too to hold off on online purchases. I've made a couple in the last few weeks, but will only allow myself to do it if something turns up that I can't find in stores (cafe capris, the double-strand necklace). I have had problems though, and really am tapering off my online ordering. I'm trying to turn myself into a store shopper!

    ReplyDelete
  43. haven't noticed anything new in the new arrivals section, as for the sale section, some items that's been sold out seems to pop up here and there in very limited sizes. i was able to get a lisa dress and came close to getting a belted crinkle skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think I might have to go on a clothing buying fast as well. Just got off the phone with CS because the 15% student discount was not applied to my order (per my conversation with a different person in CS on Friday). Well, first she tried to tell me that they had not taken the 15% off because of the SHOP free shipping. I nipped that in the bud by telling her that it was put through by CS on Friday. Then she told me there was "case number" for them to look into it and I should wait "at least a month" to see the credit before calling them back. Umm...ok. I realize that credit card charges and refunds are not instantaneous, but this is becoming ludicrous. And where is the consistency?

If it wasn't so obnoxious, I would just take the items back to my B&M and repurchase them with the student discount. Maybe I'll be happy once I actually get my items (as long as I get the correct ones), but my experiences over the past couple of weeks don't make the clothing worth the trouble.

Why is this downgrade taking so long?

    Thanks for letting me vent!

  45. Those who received the new catalog: So jealous of you all! :) I can't wait to get mine (which probably consists of me going to a store and picking one up, since I never get them mailed to me on time.) ;)

Hexicon: My preference is that you stay here with the blog, but I also completely understand if you need distance with J.Crew. :)

Yogichicki: An anonymous poster said the same thing you did, that items in the catalog are not yet online. I don't understand that practice at all. Why not make items available online at the same time of a catalog release? Just weird on J.Crew's part.

I am agree with you that its sad to hear great members leaving the blog b/c J.Crew. I really value everyone's input, but also completely understand their frustration with J.Crew. I hope you are right that corporate is recognizing that they are alienating a lot of customers. :)

Ashley: I noticed the Tuesday Trench lowered in price too! It makes it more tempting to buy now. :)

NE-Guy: I know what you mean! I check every morning to see if J.Crew posted the latest catalog on their site. I really think that its a great idea (if JCrew can keep up with it.) :)

  46. OT: I know it's long after the fact of our discussions about the Polka Dot San Telmo, but I received one yesterday and have to say that I absolutely LOVE it! The fabric is surprisingly much softer than the Black San Telmo, and I plan to wear it this coming weekend, as it seems to be a bit lighterweight than my black one, as well. I am really, really happy I ended up going for it...I will be able to wear it alot here in Florida. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. ffm: that is so funny, because I am wearing my polka dot san telmo for the very first time today! we have polka dots on the brain!

I love it too, and am wearing it with a white tank, black cotton cuffed pants, and "honey glaze" (ha ha - but that really is the right way to describe the color) ballet flats!

    ReplyDelete
  48. FFM: CONGRATS and welcome to the polka dot san telmo club!!! I know what you mean- what a surprisingly wonderful jacket! :) Congrats again!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. kater and alexis: I also started trying it with different pieces in my wardrobe last night...my favorite combo so far is a Yellow J.Crew tank, my black ON belle-like skirt, and the jacket...it looks so adorable! Did you notice they are available full price on the regular J.Crew site again? I got mine for a steal, so I am extra pleased! :)

Btw, Kater...your outfit sounds adorable! So chic! :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. ffm: your outfit sounds adorable! I got the ON black belle skirt, now I just need to go buy a yellow tank and I can be your copy cat!

am on the phone with CS right now about the duplicate bug necklace. they are not telling me to take it back and exchange it for my "convenience". waah. oh well, I did the right thing...I do hate how inconsistent all this is though.

    ReplyDelete
  51. kater: I forgot to mention that I turned up the sleeves so that the yellow cuff shows, as well. The tank looks cute tucked into the skirt, but if you leave it out and button the top buttons on the jacket it is adorable, as the tank peeks out from the bottom. :) I may layer a white and yellow tank under it, as well. I'm thinking that combo with tights and black knee boots will be supercute this Fall, too.

Bummer about the bug necklace...inconsistency at work again! :(

    ReplyDelete
  52. kater - sorry to hear about the inconsistent response from CS on your duplicate necklace!

    ReplyDelete
  53. well, I spoke too soon about the necklace, because she put me on hold, and then came back and said to take it to a store and get a refund or exchange! She was actually awesome after a little bit of a confused start.

Wendy in the we will find it for you dept, this is a shout out to you. YOU ROCK! and you will probably be hearing from me in the future...:)

    ReplyDelete
  54. ffm: this is a little OT but I was cruising around polyvore (I'm procrastinating in major fashion this morning) and loved what you did with the katie for fall. I know you adore the pleated silky jersey top, and now you've convinced me a need one too! How was the fit? Did you size down? I saw them in the store, and they looked a little big, but didn't try on...

    ReplyDelete
  55. after much complaining about my troubles i got my shipping refunded from my online order... at least that's something since i spent enough to have the highest shipping cost.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anno 1:13am: I wasn't looing for outterwear but they did have some. I recall only seeing two overcoats and a puffer vest. Not quite the selection they had last year, but it is still early. I must say that I am still kicking myself for not getting a wool cashmere coat last year when they were on blowout sale.

    ReplyDelete
  57. kater: definitely size DOWN on the silky jersey pleated top. I am wearing the XS, and would have purchased an XXS if they made them. They are meant to be fuller through the body, so the main place you need to watch out for is the armhole opening, which tends to expose more if you don't size down. They are really pretty tucked in, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. kater: By the way...the outfit I did with the Katie will also work with a simple J.Crew tank. They make one in a nice Gray now that will work for that particular color combo.

    ReplyDelete
  59. ffm: thank you! they don't have the graphite in a medium online, so my b& m hunt will begin this weekend. Lucky I have to to 3 places, all of which have the crew!

    ReplyDelete
  60. ffm: thanks for the alternative idea! I'll definitely get that if I can't find the silky jersey. I've decided the gray will also look fab with my giraffe necklace...:)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Has anyone tried on the boucle' mohair Lucille jacket or the blue frilly jacket on the last page of the fall preview (it's shown with green gloves and dark jeans)? I really like the boucle jacket, but it looks kind of boxy, so I'm wondering if I should go for the blue jacket once it's out online (has anyone seen it in a store yet, and if so, how much was it, dare I ask?). Fall is my favorite season, fashion and otherwise, so I'm super excited to see the new stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hi All!

Just back from my b&m and wanted to report back on my findings.

-The belle skirt is on sale for 69.99 plus 30% off. Some of you may be eligible for a price adjustment on it if you already purchased.

-Snagged a new catalog: A little disappointing...It's mostly full of repromotes in newly featured colors:
    - Andrea in Rhubarb this time
    - Tuesday Trench in Deep Persimmon this time
    - Lucille in Orange this time
    - Jacinda in Black this time
    - Ecole in Donegal tweed Pumpkin color shown
    - Juliet again
    - Lulu flats
    - Jamie Bag
    - "Lydia" is the new "Elizabeth" that ffm was talking about. This is also the top seen here in "brilliant orange

    Some new items are:
    - Dream Open Cardigan (think simone without a button
    - Dream Taffeta-Sash Cardi (similar to the Silk-linen solid swing cardigan with the tie at collar)
    - Classic Peacoat $225
    - Floral Ruffle Astrid Jacket (seen in look book) $285
    - Wide Leg Trousers in Plaid $168, Herringbone/checked Academy $139.50
    - Bridget Coat (think a longer version of the Tuesday Trench) $365
    - Sequined Chiffon Ruffle Cardi- Navy with chiffon ruffle stripes running horizontally across the body. $110
    - Cashmere Flora Dress- Short sleeve crewneck with floral detail at waist $238
    - Wool Herringbone Portman Pant - think wool cafe capris. (28" inseam) $150
    - Cashmere Peplum Jacket $228 - similar to the Jacinda but without the collar
    - Simone Leopard Peacoat - same print as the trixie heels (in warm ivory) but in a jacket

Lots and lots of colored tights and BRIGHT colors in unusual combos. Again, not a wow for me. Just makes me look forward to the current items going on sale. :)

btw, I noticed the penelope flats went down to $120 today so I ordered them with the 20% ps coupon. YAY! I just hope they are not too painful like math teacher mentioned.

Sorry for the long post, just a lot to talk about...:)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Julia: I have the Lucille and it's not boxy at all. It is an incredibly flattering cut and so chic on. I think it has a lot more longevity than a novelty piece like the Astrid (I think that's the one you're talking about). Hope this helps. Let us know what you decide! :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. WEab, thanks! Sign me up for that brilliant Orange Lydia! and one Bridget coat, and perhaps a Simone leopard peacoat. I cant' wait!! And maybe a Sequined Chiffon Ruffle Cardi! look, I'm so excited I can't type straight. There was a couple of times last year when the new catalogs made me feel a little light-headed, they were so pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  65. the belle skirt went on sale?!?! Darn it! I bought it last sat. but used my student discount and my cc rewards card. I doubt they will give me a price adjustment considering all my other discounts....

    ReplyDelete
  66. FFM: I think it is great that you already started creating outfits for the polka dot jacket- Love it! :)

Kater: I am happy to hear that the necklace situation is starting to sort itself out. :)

Anonymous at 11:41 AM: Congrats on getting a refund! :)

Weab: You are awesome!! Thanks for reporting to us about your B&M shopping trip. The belle skirt price sounds great (with 40% off)! :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I visited the Rockefeller store during lunch. Saw some super cute new items. They had new wool pencil-like skirts. They came in black, redish/organge, blue and an olive color. It's really cute on. They had a new cashmere dress--comes in oatmeal and grey. I loved the new colors in their long sleeve button downs. They also had about 5 new wool/tweed pants. These were adorable.

    ReplyDelete
  68. molly: I know what you mean! I get CRAZY with the thought of new items too! It's the highlight to my week! :)

Alexis: I'm happy to report. Also, just wanted to note that the b&m discount(at least mine in TX) went back to 30% instead of the 40% off.

    ReplyDelete
  69. thanks for the report weab! that was a great preview!

  70. I myself have had a bit of a nightmare. About a week and a half ago i ordered two perfect fit v-neck long sleeve tees in dark fern and dark eggplant. Both were waitlisted until september 3rd. Two days after ordering the shirts, the dark fern was cancelled. I checked online, and sure enough, there are plently of them in stock. I gave Jcrew a few days to fix it, but alas, nothing happened. So I gave CS a call, and the CS agent was able to fix it, and waived the shipping. SO now, the dark fern, which ended up being ready to ship that day, is being delivered today, and i have yet to be a charged for neither it, not the dark eggplant one. I'm watching my account to see what happens.

How should I handle it if Jcrew fails to charge me for the shirt?

    ReplyDelete
  71. weab: Thanks for the review! Did you pick up anything new today?

    ReplyDelete
  72. ffm: My b&m didn't have the new items in yet. They arrive on Friday here. I wish I could have seen the items IRL. Everything always seems so much more tempting when it's sitting in front of you looking all gorgeous! :)

btw, Congrats on your San Telmo!

anon @1:07: just wait and see what really comes. You may end up getting one for free!

    ReplyDelete
  73. weab: where are you shopping? Want to call and get a belle skirt shipped to me!

  74. I have a very OT question, sorry in advance.

So many of you know about my problems with my Ellie Chinos and the system glitch regarding the Tall size and me receiving different sizes. So all my Ellie chinos I have gotten for free (as in a receipt didn't even come with them). I know J Crew offers free tailoring to card holders (I am one) on full price items. I didn't pay for these... I dont even have proof that I bought them (I guess that is because technically they were a gift). Will J. Crew still tailor them for free do you think? I hate paying for tailoring if I dont have to. Also do all JCrew stores have tailors? Anyone ever had anything tailored there?

P.S. I had to take back the T4 in two shades, I am waiting for the T2s... the fit is SOOOO different from color to color! I wonder if the fabric dye affects how it fits. But I know b/c its a tall it will need to be hemmed... the regular is too short and the tall is too long!:(

TIA for your opinions and answers!

  75. emily: it's Southlake, Tx 817-416-1098. I know the buttercup one is on sale but didn't look at sizes. Also, I didn't notice if they had other colors or not. You might ask. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck!

  76. blumre: I know it's their policy to charge for alterations on sale items. I know that they are supposed to check your receipt to verify you paid with your jc card for the free alterations too. But, if the SA knows you they may not even ask for a receipt. Either way though, you most likely will get stuck with a charge for it.

  77. blumre: I used to be like you and hated having my clothes tailored. But, since I am short (and not tall, like you sound to be!), that would just result in dress pants that were too long that I never wore. So I decided to suck it up and go to a tailor. And, yeah, it sucks paying for it but so did buying clothes that just sat in my closet! The worst was when I grew out of said pants (horizontally, unfortunately, not vertically :( ) and I had never really worn them because they were too long.

Also, in CA, getting pants hemmed is $12 / pants. But when I visit my family back in NC, it's just $5. So you can guess what I do. :)

  78. Melanie: you are lucky, it is so expensive in NYC! I mean insanely expensive. I am having two cropped dress pants taken in now that are Jcrew from a few years ago and its $40 dollars a pair!

Weab: thanks for the advice. Maybe I will call ahead of time and explain the situation and hope that they will accommodate. Who knows.

  79. Blumre: Thanks! Is the buttercup really bright? Just worried with all the discussion on colors lately. Thanks! I called the store closest to me and the skirts weren't on sale there. Odd, but not really with JC inconsistency lately.

  80. anon 1:07- I have the same problem, no charges yet, yet I have a 4 lb parcel coming which supposed to be 2 perfect Tees. It looks like they reshipped my 1st parcel which I rec'd yesterday and the system say its is still open.

blumre: just say you lost your receipt and see what happens.

  81. More new items to report:

Don't have names, just saw in 45th and Madison store:

A silk/wool double breasted short jacket (not outerwear) with peter pan-type collar in a black/white print. Didn't look at price.

A colorful abstract print silk swishy-type skirt, looks just below knee-length, $135.

  82. Emily: I never ordered the buttercup so unfortunately I dont know. I ordered the alpine green, warm stone and navy. I would assume the Buttercup is the same or similar to the mens and its a very pale yellow. But I havent seen it in person so I can't comment for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Emily: ignore my comment about the buttercup--- its not in the mens line... I was thinking of a different color completely. I have no idea what it looks like in person--- they were sold out of it in the Tall

Anon: I am really not into lying... Sometimes people do you favors if you just tell the truth... I am going to try and if I can get it for free, great, if not... then I will pay either way so who cares.

  84. emily: The buttercup belle is close to the honey glaze but a little more muted. I wouldn't say it was bright at all. Very pretty. That's so weird about the inconsistency with the sale! Try calling my store.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Blumre: Is there another belle skirt or other colors in the store? The one online doesn't have the colors you ordered. Just deep atlantic, dark fog, buttercup and bright rhubarb.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Emily: I think you might be talking to the wrong person. I havent even looked twice at the belle skirt because its not my personal style. I really haven't noticed the color. I was talking about chinos and tailoring. I truly haven't noticed the color. I am sorry

    ReplyDelete
  87. Weab and Blumre: I am so not paying attention to what's happening! I think I was so excited about getting a belle skirt on sale, I didn't pay attention to who was talking about the sale!

Thanks Weab! Will call Southlake. Sorry for the confusion Blumre.

  88. if someone has the new catalog do you think it'd be possible to scan it onto the site? i live in the middle of no where and usually don't recieve my catalogs until 2 weeks after the new merchandise goes on the site. thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  89. jennie: I have a Sept catalog but unfortunately no scanner. If you have the August catalog, a lot of the items are the same. I think it was a little anticlimactic and the August cat was better.

  90. Oh emily! Darn! I'm so sorry. Well at least we tried. Maybe the rest of the stores (yours included) will be putting them on sale soon too. You could always buy the one at your store and get a price adjustment...I guess it just depends on how bad you want it...just a thought. :)

  91. I was at Target this afternoon and found several J. Crew inspired pieces.

    This top
looks a lot like the whisper Lame Zoey tank in person. It is made of a navy blue woven cotton with gold flecks on it to give it shine. I bought it in a size small to try it on, but it runs a little big, so I will have to exchange and see what I think about it then.

There were some knit tees by Merona that looked like less flowy versions of the Silky Jersey Gathered Tee.

Also by Merona, was an item that was like a long-sleeved version of JC's Antique Fleece Shawl Collar Cardigan, except it hit below the hip. Like the ON version it was $24.99, but the Target version was extremely soft and well made. I bought one of these and I'm keeping it!

I would post pictures of the last two, but they weren't online. And it wasn't JC inspired, but there are also these really cute short-sleeved shawl-collared sweater vests with buttons on them by Merona, and they have colors like deep peacock...

    ReplyDelete
  92. thanks for the update ashley! looks like I'm going to have to add target to my weekend list, because I was crushed when the ON version of the shawl cardigan was craptastic. I'm glad there seems to be another substitute!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Kater: you're welcome! But it is pretty long. It hits me mid-buttocks. But that's okay. I think it will be great for lounging in and to pair with yoga pants for running quick errands. And did I mention it is SO soft!?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Weab - I think I might make a pilgrimage to an actual J.Crew store next week, once the new stuff is out for sure, and try on the two jackets and go from there; they're both really cute, so maybe I'll get one now and then hope the other goes on sale. I'm also from the DFW area, and the Southlake and Dallas stores are about equidistant for me, but the drive to Southlake is a little easier - is the J.Crew there usually pretty well stocked?

    ReplyDelete
  95. As a PS, I can tell you that our September goods arrived this morning and will hit the floor Thursday and Friday. They will be released via the catalogue and website next week, which is what they usually do. In the stores, markdowns are done either Tuesday night or Wednesday night. I don't know how it is done for direct. And yes, the habit JCrew has of having different promotional prices at stores and direct drives us nuts too.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Weab: Thanks for also letting us know that the sale is now just 30% off instead of the 40% off from before. I knew 40% would be too good too last forever. ;)

Blumre: For your tailoring question, I suggest taking it to your local tailor. J.Crew employees who pin up your tailoring requests may or may not know how to accurately pin clothes. J.Crew then outsources that work to their local tailor (so who knows if the pins get moved around or what not). That is why I suggest just going to a tailor yourself- so you know who is pinning the clothes knows their stuff. :) Also, I think $40 to crop dress pants is crazy expensive too! :(

    ReplyDelete
  97. I just got my navy brushstroke print Sydney dress that I ordered last week with the extra 30% off! It's so adorable and I LOVE the print - it fits a little big on top, so I'll probably have to get it altered. Further proof that the website still isn't totally up to par - J.Crew charged my CC a day after I ordered it, then the charge disappeared, so I called CS and they looked up the tracking number for me. Supposedly it only shipped yesterday when I called, but I got it this afternoon, and my J.Crew packages never come that quickly when I'm at home in Texas. But, at least it came fairly quickly and I didn't get multiple dresses or something crazy - now I just have to make sure J.Crew doesn't charge my CC for some ungodly amount!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Julia: I also live in Texas, and as of yesterday, the order that I placed last week was still listed as "released." However, this morning, I got an e-mail with the tracking number, and I got the package today. I think they are having issues with the communication from the warehouse where they ship from to the other computer systems or something...

    ReplyDelete
  99. julia: Congrats on your dress! Just be sure to watch your cc closely. I know I've been watching mine like a *hawk*! Also, the Southlake store is 5 minutes away from me and I love the people there dearly. But I have to recommend you make the trek to Northpark. (I plan on doing the same thing myself.)

The SL store is small and they are at the "Core" level so never get any of the good cashmere, shoes, or jewelry, etc. They only get a few flip flops and bangles. Northpark, on the other hand, is a "Lux" level store. So they get all the great items. They have a great selection of shoes, a little jewelry case with many pieces to choose from and all the "specialty" items from the catalog (like the Andrea and Lucille). I haven't checked out the Galleria location yet but I know they're a "Premier" level store which is one notch below "Lux". I heard they don't have shoes there, but couldn't tell you for sure. Anyway, be sure to report back on how it goes!

  100. OT - I tried to place an online order tonight and use the SHOP code for free shipping, and the code was rejected.

  101. jGood to know about the different Dallas-area stores. I guess as much as I hate Dallas traffic (and Dallas people), I'll venture over to Northpark next week and check out what they have.

  102. Hi everyone! I went to the b&m in Pasadena, CA today and they had some new fall items out already. Also, the skirt that looks like the belle but shorter and with a tie is on sale for 69.99. I was able to snag one and when I went to the counter, the SA was raving about Mickey Drexler.

There is the cutest wool miniskirt with pockets and two buttons on the pockets. It's a pretty straight cut and comes in four colors: gray, black, tan, and I forgot the last one.

They also had a couple of winter coats, none of which I recognized from the catalog. There was one that was a light rhubarb.

There was a cashmere Jackie-like cardigan that comes in mulitple colors like honey glaze.

They had multiple puffy vests in colors like white and navy.

As for the sale section, it was an additional 30% off instead of 40. Also, they had a few pink starlet jackets, tulip jackets in flame and citron, one navy flowly bateau dress, pleated jersey tops, and some suiting pants and jackets.

The velvet Ecole jackets were on sale for 25% off.

I was suprised by how much merchandise this store carried but it seemed to carry most of the items in the catalog except for the hammered silk tank, which I have yet to see in person. It also had the Lucille jacket, Andrea jacket, Soiree jacket , tartine sweaters, belle skirts, dream tie cardigan, dream ruffle cardigan, sequin-stripe cardigan, sparkle argyle cardigan, cashmere argyle vest, etc. I guess if anyone is ever looking for something in particular, it's a pretty good store to call.

Sorry about the long post. I was really excited to come home ane report my findings.

  103. aly: were any of the items you mentioned in the next to last paragraph marked down? Such as the Dream Tie, Soiree, Andrea, Belle Skirt, etc. ? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  104. FFM: No, sorry all of those items were full-price. I can't wait till they go on sale though.

I definitely recommend people to consider the Belle-like skirt with a tie at the waist. It's a retail-only item, but I like it so much more than the Belle. The Belle skirt hit kind of high on me, whereas this skirt sits on my waist and it is much more flattering on my body. I feel like the Belle just poofs out from the waistband. It comes in the same blue and yellow as the Belle and it's on sale.

  105. The jackets are 25% as far as I know...

  106. Aly: Thanks for sharing with us your trip to the store. I am happy to hear there are some winter coats now available. I just love their winter coats (and own several of them!) :)

  107. another huge rave for the belle skirt. i'm from canada so i can only get the online version, bought it in dark fog yesterday and already wearing ti today. absolutely adore the shape and especially the pockets. the fabric is very nice and substantial and holds its shape beautifully, i have only worn it for a couple hours and so far doesn't seem like it wrinkles badly. i got it in sz 0 and fits me perfectly, unlike most of their pants that are always too big on me.

  108. I did stop in the prince street store after the tribeca store today. They have a new pattern (kind of looks like black wisps with papaya and rhubarb colored flowers on it) ITS GORGEOUS. They had it in a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline that I loved.

They have a jacket with a balck and white cheata pattern on it! It was pretty darn cute! Over all they have a lot of great new fall stuff.

I wish I had pictures to show you but I am sure it will all be online within a week. Until then save your bucks... nothing will run away too quickly ;) I'm sorry, I'm a bad scouter and I am obviously not living up to my enabler capabilities!
