Enjoy 30% off Final Sale & A Free Shipping Code!

"Thanks!" to Beth & Kate in the post "In-Store Sale On Some New Fall Merchandise" who let us know that J.Crew is having another 30% off final sale with code EXTRA30. Not sure when it ends- which sounds great to me! ;)

Also, another "thanks!" to Marian B. who let us know about a possible free shipping with code SHIP-2389 that has no minimums. (A sales representative gave her the code and did not mention any expiration date or qualifiers for using it. Hopefully it will work for us too!) How awesome is that!

It is too bad we can't combine both codes on the site- that would be the best of both worlds- or how it was before the system upgrade! ;)

  2. I finally got a cashmere cardi I have had in my cart forever. I also picked up the teal critter sandals. Now if they will just put the fleur heels in orange (the ones on the cover of the new catalog) on sale I'll be a happy girl:)

  3. finally ordered my optical print jacket and only had to pay %4.24 b/c of my rewards card and another gift card! MUCH better than $170.00!!

  4. extra 30 does not work this morning at 8:03. Showing error msg and asks that I call customer service. what a bummer...

  5. do the codes mean jcrew is now up and running again??? Probably not... too bad I think I will pass.

  6. against my better judgement I did order a few items. Website was not working, a sweater I wanted said it was on sale then once it was added to my cart it was not. I used gift cards and am praying order goes through ok. I took print screens of everything incase there is a problem. Should I call CS on my sweater?

  7. OK extra30 worked on a mock check out but I am so upset about the red phone not offering free shipping on sale items! I CANT AFFORD FULL PRICE! And I know a lot of NYers cant anymore because this city is so tied to the financial markets. Most of my friends are terrified that they will not have jobs by the end of the year. Even friends who are lawyers, one of the biggest firms just fired 115 lawyers this week (about 20% of their NY office). I am lucky to have a good paying job that is secure. But I still cant afford full price, I live in NYC in Manhattan (rent comes first). I am amazed that Jcrew would take the red phone away if I order sale items. I feel like Jcrew just personally snubbed me (ok I know thats not the case, but I really do feel that way, silly as it may be).

  8. Hi Guys! I tried using both codes on a mock checkout and they BOTH worked, seperately, of course. The Extra30 does work, but doesn't show up under "promotions"...just check your total before you enter the code, and you will be able to see the difference the code subtracts. :)

    Good Luck everyone! :)

  9. blumre -

I think you're totally justified in worrying. One of my friends just lost her job in NYC, which no one wants to be without a job, but especially there.

Maybe we should all thank Jcrew - tough times in a tough economy can just be incentive to save. I even get better deals with my euros and the exchange rate but this mayhem makes me get over it and look elsewhere.

  10. Is anyone getting this code -
    Error:

    JSP_EXECUTION_FAILED
when they try to check out? I am trying to get the coppelle san telmo..

  11. I just ordered the Egyptian cotton V-Neck Sweater in Tawny Olive, Size Small and was able to use the free shipping code. Thanks so much for posting, Alexis!

I'm quite sad to report that two of the four orders for the City-fit buttery twill trouser have not (and will not) arrive - they were never in-stock to begin with. Just found out yesterday. I called the CS rep and the best she could do was remove the shipping charges from the rest of my outstanding orders. In the meantime, the other two orders for the pants appear to have shipped - on July 24th - but still aren't here yet, and UPS still says "billing information received." Will they come or won't they? I guess that's the million dollar question...

  12. I used extra30 this morning, once before 9:00 and once after (I know, I know, but they added stuff after I placed the first order) and it worked both times. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the order is filled and sent!

And yes, I'm upset that codes are no longer stackable (free shipping + the added discount on sale items). It really made it much more affordable for me, on a teacher's salary, so I'm with you, blumre. New Jersey is almost as expensive to live in as NY these days!

And what's this now about no free shipping on sale items when using the red phone!? That's not good, J.Crew. Very disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  13. As of right now, the site is taking ages to load, and now that it did just finally load, there's no mention of an extra 30 off...

*Note to those frustrated with not being able to use the red phone for free shipping on sale items: Just order a tee or something that's full-price along with your sale items, and then return it to the store.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous, I'm using firefox, and it seems ok. Extra30 is on the sale page, and most of the items are loading properly.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Unless you are placing a big order right now it's not worth the shipping. I was gonna get a pair of the hipslungs on sale :(

    ReplyDelete
  16. Gee I'd sure love to pick up a couple items, but the website is still so completely effed up that I can't. Error messages, items that show up full price when you click on them, or don't show up as available at all.

    ::sigh::

  17. I just spent loads on a bunch of shirts, sweaters and cardigans and I really hope everything works out well:) I emailed contactus@jcrew about receiving a 10% student discount, does anyone know if they would honor it online if I used my student email?

  18. Hey Guys!
I am a pretty loyal reader of the blog, but rarely post, and I felt that I should tell my story. Also, it has been great over the past month to read everyone stories about lost/short shipped items and know that I am not alone! Since the "transition" to the new site I have lost about 6 items, i know that probably not as bad as some of you guys! Anyways, after a VERY frustrating call with a CS rep I decided I had just about had it. I had once heard that is you e-mail CS and address it to Mr. Drexler that they actually forward it to him.
So I wrote a polite (I hope) but firm e-mail about how upset I was with everything - lost orders, short shipped items, going over on my cell phone bill trying to sort everything out, and the rude CS i spoke to. I sent the email last night around 7:30. About 5 minutes later Mr. Drexler called me. I about DIED. Literally died. (Trying to explain the gravity of that situation to my husband was impossible, maybe you guys will understand??)
He apologized many times and told me they couldn't believe how much they had let people down. He was very sweet and promised to make everything better. He also gave me his personal cell as well as his office number in case I "needed anything." He could not have been any nicer. He told me someone would call me later and take a look at my orders to see if there was anything they could do. And about an hour later Brittany called and completey took care of everything, she looked over my orders and said she would double check for the items that went missing and personally packed the order I placed earlier that day.
I couldn't believe how well I was treated. I guess I justed wanted to share with you guys how they do know everything is terrible but I think they are trying their best.
Hopefully other people are getting the service I was so lucky to receive. Anyways, sorry this was SOOOOOO long!
    kate

  19. Well I just tried to place my first order since the website upgrade, and I used the EXTRA30 code. But then when I tried to submit the order, I got the message "The information you have provided is invalid. Please verify your information and resubmit the order." I double-checked everything and can't figure out what is "invalid".

    ReplyDelete
  20. kate!: That is fabulous news...thanks for sharing your experience, too. It's so awesome that you actually got to talk to Mickey...you MUST have been about to drop right on the floor! I also spoke to Brittany and think she is just so nice and seems very sincere, as well. Thanks again for sharing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. andrew: Maybe you can try phoning your order in? I imagine the wait times are pretty long, but then at least you could get the discount. Maybe they would combine the free shipping code with it? It never, never, never hurts to ask...all they can do is tell you no, but should at least still apply one of the codes you choose to use. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Kate, that is such an inspiring story! I've heard of high-level executives at other companies responding when you send an email directly *to* them, but certainly not within 5 minutes time. And for him to be giving out his personal cell number too - for whatever trials and tribulations we've faced with the site recently, that does make it a little better. Or at least gives the illusion that J.Crew really values their customers. Either way, what a happy ending. I'm so glad for you!

    ReplyDelete
  23. kate!: wow, I don't know if I would have been able to speak. :P I'm glad they are trying to fulfill your orders. I do agree that they seem to be trying and sorry about the problems. This must be costing them money - loss of sales and hiring extra help.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Kate!, your story has restored my faith in J.Crew. I just hope that they get things together soon so I can order something. I have been grouchy since the upgrade because the website has been so messed up.
    Thanks again for your story.

    ReplyDelete
  25. it us really nice to see that mr. Dexler cares! However, I simply do not understand what is so hard about hiring some good consultants to fix the Internet fiasco as well as paying more people overtime to take of the Internet and phone orders. It is nice to be nice, but when there are no real actions to prove commitment, it really doesn't do much for me.
There are still so many problems with the website. I don't think I'll be risking my time and effort. They seem to have so much inventory that it will be fine to wait and see what will Mr. Dexler will do to rectify the problems, in addition to making personal phone calls to customers. :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. I guess all I'm saying is that I wish those days when I would place an Internet order and see it coming in a few days without worries would come soon! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Kate, you certaily are so lucky like some other aficionadas! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. fabulousfloridamommy, I was about to call, but then I figured it out:

The site had somehow saved my Visa card from before as a JCB card. I simply entered it as a new credit card number, and it worked! Maybe that will help somebody else.

    ReplyDelete
  29. andrew: I'm so glad you could place your order! :) What did you get? I am always interested hearing from the male J.Crew Aficionados (did I spell that right?) about what they are interested in, and the male perspective on all the upgrade issues, as well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. kate! This really is an encouraging story! I am so happy to hear that Mickey really puts actions behind his words.

However, I wish that we would receive our items and charges accurately and in a timely manner without having to contact the CEO himself.

    ReplyDelete
  31. bgd: CONGRATULATIONS! What a FABULOUS deal on that jacket...please post a review once you get it...I am interested to know what it's like in person. :)

pink1: Congrats on your long awaited purchases...which cashmere cardi did you get?

    ReplyDelete
  32. btw, I hope that doesn't come across as disapproving of contacting Mickey, because I think it's every customers right to. I just wish things would work right without us having to go to that length. Make sense?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Did anyone get Avery Ruffle Cardigan..It says 59.99 , but when I click on the item the price reverts back to original price. Did anyone get it for 59.99?
    Kathy

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sally: I completely agree...it should have never gotten so bad that customers feel the need to email the head of the company. I must say, though, that after speaking to Brittany and hearing how much Mickey has been inundated with emails and phone calls: I think it has actually helped him to realize the seriousness of what is going on. Just wish it had never had to come to this. :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. sally: that is exacly the point I was trying to get at! I can't wait for every aficionada/o can place orders without having problems or having to talk/email the CEO. I completely agree with you!

    ReplyDelete
  36. "This" meaning such a fiasco that customers DO feel they need to contact him. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. ffm: I agree that it does at least let Mickey see the extent of the problem. I just want my tank! ;)

btw, I received my dream ruffle herringbone cardi in camel/charcoal and LOVE it! It's so sweet and feminine. The rosette with the beads and the ruffle collar add such a special, chanel-ish touch.

Note: the fit is a little boxy, definitely NOT a shrunken or fitted cardi.

    ReplyDelete
  38. sally: That's in essence what I also told Brittany...CS has been really nice and generous, but there comes a point when I just REALLY want to receive my order...it really shouldn't be that hard to do. She laughed and completely agreed...I think that's one of the reasons she searched for and found my Kelly Jacket: because the whole ordeal got to be past the point of absurd!

CONGRATS on the cardi! I can't wait to see it in person...I think my store actually HAS that one...AMAZING! :o

    ReplyDelete
  39. ffm, I got:

a broken-in no-pocket t-shirt in vintage orchid. I look better in cooler-toned light blues (as opposed to warmer-toned ones like aqua, though I wear those too anyway) so the orchid might look good on me.

sneaker flip-flops - they look really cool and comfy, I just hope that they don't get too grody and smelly, but maybe I can wash them.

grosgrain watchband in vintage kelly - I was tempted to buy more than one color, but I've never had a fabric watchband like this and want to see how I like it first.

madras-lined Tulum leather flip-flops - I just hope that the part between the toes isn't too thick, which can be uncomfortable.

As if I need more flip-flops! Oh well, the best part was that the EXTRA30 code brought the subtotal down to $74.85, which in turn brought the shipping charge down from $14.50 to $10.50.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Just got my new Boden catalog, and it's 15% off plus free shipping and free returns on purchases over $150.

    ReplyDelete
  41. ffm: it sounds like your store is just like mine! They did have the cardi but only the graphite one...just my luck...

    ReplyDelete
  42. My Kelly Jacket order was cancelled :( :( sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I know this is random, but I wish the sale section had a "new arrivals" section. I browse the sale section so much I can generally see what's "new" but it'd be nice on days I can't put 2-and-2 together to just know. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. melanie: I agree with a new markdowns section. Ann Taylor Loft has one and I use it often.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Can anyone describe the rhubarb color (Kelly 85613)? Is it a pink red? Or dark pink? My monitor is not confirming the color for me. *lol*

    ReplyDelete
  46. OH NO JCREWBUG!!! I am so sorry about the Kelly Jacket!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nevermind what color rhubarb is. Everything is mud in my mind. I've been shopping around for 30 min or so and my cart has shown 5 items. I finally click and I get an ugly gray screen that yells -- you have nothing in your shopping cart. So I go back to the Jackie cardigan to start with and it's full price. I am convinced they really, really should have shut down the website and CS for 48-72 hours to rectify the situation as much as possibly before going live again. That would have seemed extreme, but they are losing money in so many ways with this fiasco. Yes, there are more serious issues than shopping in the online sale section of JCrew but erggh!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I want J.crew to kick up the music for when you're on hold. I know it's a small thing, but I'd like something a little more current for when I'm holding.

The good news is I'm getting tracking numbers and my stuff is all ready to go and should be out to me soon. And then the CS rep told me that since I've been waiting she's giving me 20% my next order. I already know what that will be; the charcoal pants in the wool flannel and two merino wool sweaters, both v necks in heather carbon and navy. Preppy yes, but it works for me.

    ReplyDelete
  49. gigiofca: just in case you change your mind, bright rhubarb is a pinky red or a red-pink. It's not really red or pink, but a beautiful combination of the two. I don't know if that helps, but it's the best I can do.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Okay, so i ordered the Jacinda in both colors because they cancelled my Kelly and I was so sad and pathetic on the phone that they gave me a deal. I'll let you know how they look - I'm really looking forward to seeing it in Honey Glaze. I also got the hipslungs on sale - those are a good deal at 30% off and I got the navy Candace to replace my navy Kelly. Used my rewards and it all came to under 100!!!

Any thoughts on those ruffle merino cardigans? Are they worth the price?

    ReplyDelete
  51. jcrewbug, I just received my ruffled merino cardigan today in the mail, I got small navy and it fits like a charm. I usually buy the jackie cardigans but I think the ruffles on the merino look really cute :)

  55. jcrewbug: That's great! Please give us a review of the Jacinda(s) when they in!

Just thought I'd share this funny fact: In preparing to pull together an outfit for my cousin's rehearsal dinner tonight, I ran straight to Polyvore, not my closet! My husband had a good 15 minute laugh over it! Great, now I just gave him more ammo! :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. You guys are the nicest group of bloggers ever! I've been trying to come up with an anology to explain the call I got to my DH and he still doesn't get it....
FFM - i have been loving your polyvore sets!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. mischa: Thanks! I was really considering it with the extra 30 off. I was concerned its a little thin - how see through is it? or at all? Can you feel the cashmere in it?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jcrewbug:

Love that Jacinda jacket, can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Did you get in touch with the Rockaway Townsquare store? I hope that you had some success there, especially given the cancellation of your Kelly jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  59. blumre: I know it's stressful living here in New York. So sorry I didn't go to the b&m stores like I posted on yesterday. I was at home, trying to catch up on my cme credits. I'm fortunate that I don't have to work, but I'm really thinking about re-entering the workforce since my professor told me there's an employer looking for a technologist and he wants me to give him a call. I haven't been working since 2006, so I have to read up before I meet in an interview.

Getting back on the subject: I still enjoy J Crew's clothing. If anything the economy has taught me is to just be more selective on what to purchase. My biggest purchase this summer was the Giraffe Necklace and second to that are the two Ludlow wool trousers. So the fall season is just started and I'm just going to hold on and see what else is coming.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Mary: Yes, I called they had the cargos but not the trousers. But I'm okay with it because I spent some money today online:) The 30 percent was a nice surprise. I really appreciate you giving me the info. Please let me know if I can check my stores for anything for you!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Mary @ 11:57am, I just ordered some things from Boden and used a 10% off PLUS free shipping code (Just click the link and it will automatically deduct the amounts at checkout)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks jcrewbug and c'est moi. This is such a helpful group of people--you guys are great!

I ordered some stuff on line this morning, too. The 30% proved irresistible. Here's to hoping nothing gets cancelled or lost or delayed!

    ReplyDelete
  63. i just two things using both the 30% and free shipping coupon codes by calling!

    ReplyDelete
  64. andrew: Sounds like you got some great deals...I really like both pair of the flip flops you picked up, and I also think you can probably throw the sneaker pair in the washing machine if they end up getting too dirty. You must be in a warmer weather state, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. kate!: what a great story! it's wonderful that mickey called you :) it's amazing that he is calling people personally...very cool! :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. kate!: Thanks for the compliment on the Polyvore sets! :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. jcrewbug: Congratulations! Sounds like you got some FABULOUS deals!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I just saved $58 using both codes. It may not be that much considering it's J.Crew, but I am a poor grad student so it's a great for me. Thanks so much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. jcrewbug: congrats on your jacinda deal! i'm looking forward to reading what you think of the fit...especially around the waist with the pleats around the side...:)

  70. I had a mixed experience today. I was actually in the B&M to pick up a couple jersey bateau dresses but they weren't in my size and someone was on the red phone ordering what must have been the entire fall catalog, it was taking so long! So I came home and tried to order them online and get the store sale price. The first CS rep I talked to was so unhelpful --he told me I'd have to drive (30 minutes!) back to the store and call on the red phone. Their 40% off sale is ending today and I really can't drive out there again. I offered to give him the number to have him call but he said "I really can't do that." ??? I was so mad I said forget it and hung up! The more I thought about it I was just steaming and thinking what horrible service that was -- so I called back and get a very sweet female CS rep. I explained what happened, and she said that was absolutely not their policy and that they will always match the store price if you are calling from home and have the store name so they can call and verify.

In fact, originally she did not realize the dress was on sale and ws going to give me 40% off of the dress and a pair of Lulu heels I was also ordering even though 40% was only on supposed to be on sale items! I explained that I appreciated that but was not trying to get anything extra -- I was happy to pay full price for the shoes and just wanted them to honor the %59.99 - 40% store price on the dress. She did that and also gave me free shipping on the whole order.

She said maybe that other rep was new but that he should have called the store for me. So I guess J Cre's customer service really veers from the ridiculous to the sublime! Really it can be a little frustrating but I am just so thankful at how helpful the second rep was.

I also have a quick question -- does anyone know how the Banana Republic Friends and Family sale works? I called their CS and they wouldn't give me a code -- they said I had to have someone email it to me. If I call a store do you think one of the employees will send me a code? I don't want to violate their policies but there is absolutely tons I want to buy there and the sale is so good I would hate to miss it ...

    ReplyDelete
  71. andrew - you are so lucky you got your order down in price. My order was $101, which bumped me into the $14.50 bracket.

kate! - I can't believe he called you. That's rad (for lack of a better word). Analogy...hmm....if DH is into sports or some other hobby, tell him it's like the president of his favorite football team calling him to apologize because his team lost. Maybe he'll get it then. *lol*

rosieposie - I am a Luxe member and haven't received any notification about F&F for BR. I recvd info on the last one and I believe it came by email. You should call a local store. If that doesn't prove successful, call a larger flagship store, I.e. San Francisco

FFM - Did you see the ruffle neck cardigan in a b&m Old Navy? I usually don't like the texture & feel of their clothes these days, but some of the items are really good. I am dying to know what the quality is like. #5928980224004 on their website.

To All -- For the extra30 today I got a Kayla blouse (97733) in Deep Surf, Surplus Chino w/the pockets on the back in Stone and a cashmere tee short sleeve tee (90589) in mandarin orange. I'm hoping it's not too bright. Everything was $125 with shipping and I'm very happy. I am really new to the brand and haven't purchased any of the bigger ticket items yet. Once they iron things out and I can be an excited newbie again, maybe I'll actually buy something full price. Although the thrill of the hunt is always so fun.

    ReplyDelete
  72. All, please excuse all the typing errors in my last post! I was still mad (at the first rep) when I wrote that and wasn't thinking and typing clearly ...

And, thanks, gigiofca -- I will try to call the BR store(s).

    ReplyDelete
  73. My store doesn't have the tartine displayed but I asked about it and they brought the sample out from the back. The color was bright rhubard and boy was it beautiful!!! The women seemed to think that once it actually hit the floor it would be gone - looks like the prospect of it hitting a sale price are slim, although I could have guessed that already. I just wanted to comment because I thought that bright rhubarb color was fantastic.

So I actually just got a giftcard in the mail from them for my troubles. Too bad I didn't have it this morning! So I'm debating whether to add the merino ruffle to my collection or wait it out for the new fall stuff to go on sale - what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  74. jcrewbug: It sounds like you are having an awesome day! :) Congratulations on all the "goodies"...I have also been looking at the Merino Ruffle Cardigan and debating whether or not to get it (I need something Navy to replace the Navy Kelly I didn't receive). I guess it depends on what color you would be getting and how soon you will be wearing it. If you just purchased 2 Jacindas and a Candace, then I personally think you should wait for the Fall stuff to go on sale...I would. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. gigiofca: I have not seen the ON ruffle cardigans in person, but they look really pretty online. I think they are supposed to be in stores this month...hopefully...I would also like to see them in person to know what the quality is like. Let me know what you think if you happen to see one. :)

  76. I am catching up on today's posts and I saw Kates! Kate that is just fabulous news.

Do you guys think we should write a collective e-mail to Mr. Drexler about the free shipping? It might be worth it. We could give him all the suggestions that had been posted here. I would be happy to draft one up and send it to alexis (via e-mail) and then maybe we could collective all put our suggestions online and then draft one with a number of different ideas for him so that we could afford to shop there and they could afford to have a friendlier shipping plan? Thoughts? We could jointly address it to their president as well.

  78. Webbysuzy: Sorry I was on LI for the day (not the nice part) but I was helping my friend find an apt... so dont be jealous I wasn't at the beach or anything posh like that.

I totally understand and get what you are saying. I haven't had very many larger purchases this year. I had one major shopping spree (25% Jcrew sale) when I first started my job but that was it. This economy is scaring in NYC. And while my job is secure for the most part, I still get freaked out.

It would be nice if Jcrew addressed these concerns and made it easier for us to shop there by keeping their policies consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  79. FFM: Yes, that is what I was thinking. Although I have nothing in pink and I was looking at the soft azalea color. They didn't have the navy in my size or I would have gotten that rather than the navy candace. The CS that I placed the order with earlier told me that its really soft because of the cashmere blend. Are you an XS? I believe they have XS in navy, I'm a S.

  80. It really doesn't make any sense asking Jcrew to give out more shipping codes to help the customers during recession/job loss.....If the economy goes bad, then Jcrew's sales will be hit, they themselves will revert back to % off codes, to attract the customers....My 2 cents...Kathy

    ReplyDelete
  81. Kelly: Thats one way to look at it. But lately it has been all over the NY nightly news that customers are walking into Bloomies and Saks and bargaining and being SUCCESSFUL at it. Jcrew's pricing has gone up but not necessarily their quality (why i tend to only buy on sale). They need to do something to say competative. I can get free shipping at BR, GAP and other online retailers... why shop at Jcrew if they are going to charge me 9 dollars in shipping on a 30 dollar order (trust me it doesnt cost that much to send a shirt via ups and UPS picks it up from their warehouse). Other retailers make comparable items. We are the devoted Jcrew shoppers... but there are others who could and will easily be lured elsewhere. In this economy retailers need to be competitive to get my dollar.

  82. Kate: CONGRATS on talking to Mickey himself!!! That is phenomenal.

    ReplyDelete
  83. okay I am on the phone with CS right now, the CS is honoring the 69.99price on every color of uptown!!! i'm getting three and will share the ones I don't want.

  84. can't decide between golden yellow maple or lemon lime???

    ReplyDelete
  85. Rosieposie: post your email and I can include you in the Brep 25% off friends & family promo.

    ReplyDelete
  86. jcrewbug - I can't see the lemon lime but the golden yellow maple is very pretty. What a score! Let me know what color you're not keeping for sure!

blumre -- I agree about writing a collective letter and I would participate. Somehow BR has created a credit card that is not only great, but has 2 tiers. If you spend over $X, you get free shipping. And when they introduced the card, people who signed up and spent the minimum are now "luxe for life." I am in that group. I definitely have spent way more being a luxe member than if I weren't. And I rarely take advantage of the free alterations becuase the petite sizes fit me great. I believe there is a way to be upscale, yet still competitive with incentives.

    ReplyDelete
  87. OK all I just created a new e-mail address if you want to participate in the new e-mail feel free to e-mail me at blumre1@gmail.com

I welcome any and all input.

  88. Okay, got all three of light gold, golden yellow maple and navy for $41.99. I was having good luck today and thought I would call and ask. !!!!! I'm beyond ecstatic!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I meant 41.99 each.

    ReplyDelete
  90. lemon lime!--That is crazy! What a great price!

    ReplyDelete
  91. laverte: Oops, I went with the golden maple....do you think that they are much different?

    ReplyDelete
  92. What a steal, jcrewbug! You should play some Lotto while you're at it! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  93. blumre: I will contribute in the email...what do you need me to do?

    ReplyDelete
  94. silver_lining: I know, I feel like I hit the jackpot today. I can't hardly sit still I'm so excited. :)

And it's all because they kept losing my kelly jacket. Jeas, they sure made up for it.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I think that it is perfect, either one are great, do you think if I tried it I could get the orange?

    ReplyDelete
  96. jcrewbug: You are having such a FABULOUS day of bargains...Congratulations!

I need a Small or sometimes Medium in the Cardigans, unfortunately.

Btw...I received everything I did from J.Crew due to a Kelly Jacket, too...well that and a Joelle Blouse. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Or have you been talking to the same CS rep each time.. ?? Oh I love orange. Its the Tennessee Volunteer in me :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. FFM and anyone else: Just write to me what you think jcrews shipping plan should be. Write about the inaccuracies in company policy... anything you feel the company has done to make shopping there more difficult (lets not make this a harp on the website-- they are aware of that issue! Lets actually try and make shopping there easier and more fun once they get the website straightened out.

I promise I will NOT send an e-mail out without sending it to all contributors first.

I can't believe we haven't done this yet. I am a social worker, we community organize, it's kind of what we do! Haha... Caw you should get in on this too ;)

    ReplyDelete
  99. laverte: I think its luck of the draw, there is no harm in asking. It's crazy because we talk a lot about inconsisten policies there. Sometimes it works in our favor, sometimes it doesn't. I had a good day, yesterday I had a bad one. I didn't have to wait at all when I called today - they weren't busy, might be worth a try. I wish I could have afforded one in every color so I could pass them around.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Oh, I dont need to buy anything, I need to save, but it is just soo hard.

    ReplyDelete
  101. melissa: I just got the Lisa dress and am wondering...does it look like you are pregnant when you have it on? I stood in the mirror looking from the side and it really made me look big in the tummy area. I got the XS which I would think that I need at 5'4" and 100 pounds. Just want your input. THANKS!!

kate: OMG...you are so lucky! I would love to talk to Mr. Drexler and explain how frustrated I am with the upgrade.

ffm: DH and I had very casual dinner to attend last night. I wore the black Ruffle Neck polo and khaki shorts and looked fabulous! Got tons of compliments on how feminine it looked! THANKS!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. laverte: I hear that! I felt the urge to buy stuff today because it starts a new billing cycle. It's bad, very bad. Haha. I just make sure to pay it off every month or all this hard work of trying to get deals would just go out the window with interest!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Flat $6.00 shipping would be great, like Lucky Brand; I think it's $7.00 flat shipping for non-cardholders on Gap brands (Banana Republic, Gap, Piperlime, Old Navy). J.Crew's shipping is very steep in comparison to these stores. I was just listening to a report on this on the Today Show this morning, and the Gap brands were mentioned as great bargains for shipping. It would be great if JCrew had a similar policy. It would almost (but not quite) bring us back to the good old days of stackable codes.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I was at the J.Crew B&M store in Seattle today, absolutely NO SALE items at all. The only thing on a slight discount was the Merino V-Neck Sweater for $59.50.

This brings me to my second point which is "What's up with the sizes?" - I'm 5'2", pear-shaped with 35-inch hips and I couldn't fit into the cord pencil skirt in size 0.

the merino v-neck sweater in XS was so big that the v fell almost to my navel and half my breasts were hanging out.

i tried on the double-serge tuesday trench, which i'm actually eyeing to buy, but a size 0 seemed too long and the chest area too big - i might order a petite 0 and try it out anyway.

it seems lately i can't find anything in j.crew that fits, i think the vanity sizing thing is a serious serious issue.

    ReplyDelete
  105. blumre1 - I sent you an email to blumre1@gmail.com. Hope it's coherent. I tried to be specific and keep it focused on one thing. Their credit card.

What did you get 3 of for $41.99?

fff - If I see the cardigan in a B&M ON, I will let you know. It *is* 100% cotton. I may end up ordering it online. Not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  106. gigiofca: I got your e-mail and when I get everyone else I will combine. It maybe longer with chapter like subheadings (if anyone else knows APA format, similar to that) since everyone has different complaints and concerns and they all need to be mentioned!

I am so thrilled that people acutally want to join me and band together.

    ReplyDelete
  107. jcrewjunkie - I have the Lisa dress on right now in Navy. I wore it with gold bangles and thongs with gold straps. Anyway -- the area I'd most like to change is my tummy and this dress does *not* make me look pregnant or like I'm trying to hide something. I think you will be good with XS, esp if your boobies aren't big.

rocketscience - are you saying the size 0 is too big for you or too small? I have 35" hips as well and get size 4. If it's low rise then I get a 6. I haven't worn a zero in quite some time. I'm more straight. It sounds like may have a much smaller waist and that makes sizing a challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Rocketscience...I am running into the same problem w/ the fall dresses. They are hanging on me. I am definitely not that small!!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. blumre: I just sent you an e-mail with some of my suggestions/thoughts. Thank you so much for organizing this! I really hope they listen and that we can effect some change.

jcrewbug: you are so lucky! I think I am getting all the rotten luck today! I was out for awhile and returned to a message on my voice mail from J.Crew. It was a csr letting me know that my hammered silk tank is no longer available! Funny, when I look at the website, THERE ARE TONS, ALL SIZES.

p.s. sorry about all caps, just frustrated.

    ReplyDelete
  110. gigiofca: size 0 is too big for me - my hips are 35" and waist is 25" and the skirts and shorts fall off me such that the waistband is just slightly above my buttcrack! o_O it's really awful, but maybe that's the problem. i tried on the favourite fit stretch bootcut cords today in size 0 and they were fine though.

pink1: i completely understand! especially with the v-neck stuff it's just catered for people with enormous boobs, i mean if it's a size 0, how big can your chest be anyway right? it's just really weird.

what i've noticed is that if you're pear-shaped and your waist is much smaller than your thights, it's going to be a real challenge looking for bottoms at j.crew.

    ReplyDelete
  111. jcrewjunkie- i just ordered the lisa today, so i havent tried it yet. but some of the dresses do that to me, so i'm hoping it wont be an issue. i'm about your size, but they didnt have an xs so i got a small. i bought the kayla dress and mallorca dress both recently and i think the fit will be the same, anything empire waisted has a possibility of looking maternity on me. hope it works out!

    ReplyDelete
  112. blumre: I also just sent you my suggestions. I am curious to which suggestions are repeated the most. :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. jcrewjunkie: I have the lisa dress and because of my chest, I sized up to a large. While it is a little big in places, I could not have worn a medium through the chest. I don't think I look pregnant, and hope others don't either. :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hi Everyone! Lots of exciting J. Crew news out there today :) I just placed my first online order in a LONG time. I used the extra30 code and it worked BUT... it wouldn't honor my $25 reward card! I went ahead and placed the order and THEN e-mailed asking for 4 things: 1) the shipping upgrade I was promised when I complained; 2) the giftcard I was offered when I complained that I have yet to receive; 3) my educator discount; 4) told them that my reward card didn't work. I am pretty happy about my order (nothing too exciting, but good clothes to wear to school). I hope I get a good response!

    ReplyDelete
  115. jcrewbug: I gave in and paid full price for the tartine and I chose the bright rhubarb. I agree that it is such a pretty color! Hard to describe, too, not pink or red but a combo of both. Did the sa think that color would sell out or the sweater in all colors? I would like to have it in at least one more color, but I planned to wait for a coupon or mark down. Do I need to go ahead and get another one now?

    ReplyDelete
  116. rocketscience - Good point about the sizing. When I looked at the new fall clothing in b&m, it seemed a little bit but I didn't try any of the bottoms on. Something to definitely consider when ordering online. Maybe I will be a 2 this time around w/vanity sizing. Sounds good to me. I am straight up and down -- not much variance between my waist and hips so I don't have the same issue you're having. But I understand what you mean ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  117. mathteacher - Can you tell I am avoiding real life responsiblities today? I cannot get off this blog. I also sized up in the Lisa due to my chest and I am thrilled that I did. I love it more than the Mallorca, which was just too low in the medium and too tight in the small. The Lisa isn't supposed to be fitted anyway. It's designed to have a nice drape down front & center, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  118. math teacher: They were speaking in general about the Tartine. But they were talking about when it hit the store floor. Not sure when that is going to be in our neck of the woods. I'm sure with this blog network we will be able to help find what you're looking for if inventory gets low!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hi all-

Thanks so much for your input! Anyone who hasn't submitted yet I probably wont send anything until Sunday night or Monday morning.

You all have great suggestions so far. I will start work on synthesizing them into a concise e-mail soon.

I want to wait until tomorrow night or monday morning to send it out in case people are away for the weekend but would want to contribute.

But I will send you all the e-mail before I send it out. I will also send alexis the most common suggestions so she can post it here if she wants.

I am really excited that we are able to do this.

  121. OK...now I FINALLY have time to post this: I received my Andrea Jacket, Watercolor Rosette Floral Tank, Piper Tanks in Ivory and Kelly Green, and the Solid Kelly Jacket in Bright Flame (that Brittany sent me) all TODAY via Fed Ex Overnight Delivery...I AM IN A STATE OF SHOCK!!!! I ACTUALLY RECEIVED PACKAGES FROM J.CREW!

    Now for my reviews:

Watercolor Rosette Floral Tank in Aged Cognac: OMG...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!!! It is so much more beautiful in person than it is online, and I think I will probably buy the Deep Atlantic, as well. I purchased the 0 and it fits perfectly. It looks so pretty with the Dark Denim Trouser Jeans, and can be dressed up or down.

Andrea Jacket in Honey Glaze: I really like this, but it isn't a Love it piece for me. It IS really pretty, and the color actually DOES work with my skintone...it looks really FAB with my white tank, dark denim trouser jeans, and gold accessories...I wear the first two buttons open for this look, and it is so "Chanel like". It looks really pretty with the Rosette tank, too. The 4 fits just barely in the shoulders, but a 6 would have been too big everyplace else, so I will keep the 4. The sleeves are longer on me than bracelet length, but if I decide to keep the jacket, I will probably have them shortened. I really DO like this jacket, but will take it with me on my trip to the b&m just in case I fall in LOVE with one of the other jackets there. ;)

Kelly in Bright Flame: LOVE THIS JACKET! WISH I COULD GET IT IN NAVY, TOO!!! I received the Medium and it fits just fine. :) I am wearing it with my white tank, GAP dark denim essential jeans, gold accessories, Born Sandals, and Coach bag...it really looks pretty. :)

Piper Tanks: So pretty! I ordered the size 2, but think I could have also worn the size 4.

That's it! I'm not waiting on anything else except a refund to go through on my CC for the Joelle Blouse they didn't ship to me the week before last, and a gift card for a return of defective merchandise (pre-upgrade).

Oh yeh...the weight of the Andrea is not heavy at all...I could wear it out to dinner or to church now...in Florida...in August. ;)

I AM SO HAPPY, and once again...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that Rosette Tank!!! It is COMPLETELY worth paying full price (which I really didn't because I got my educator discount). :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. FFM: YAYAYAYAYAY! So happy for you!!! I'll keep my eye out for a Kelly in Navy on ebay!

    ReplyDelete
  123. FFM: Congrats! Its good to know you could wear the Andrea now, even in FL.

    ReplyDelete
  124. ffm: so happy for you! I'm also glad that you can wear the Andrea now - hard to believe. It's so hot here in SC that I can't imagine wearing anything with sleeves! :) I'll have to keep an eye out for it to show up in b&m here.

jcrewbug: I won't be surprised if the tartine does fly out. I love mine. I guess I'll just have to hope that I can find one in another color when it goes on sale. If not, well, at least I have one. There's just too much that I want and I can't buy any more until the 15th. :( Unless, they offer a % off! I'll find the money then. :P

gigiofca: You desribed the lisa dress perfectly! I also am slacking off. I'm working on my masters and one prof sent us our assignment early for fall semester, and while I've done some reading, I haven't done any of the assignment that go along with the reading! I spend too much time here! :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. ffm -- Congrats on your package. I will feel the same shock when I receive the order I placed today. *crosses fingers*

The Andrea Jacket is really cute and totally seems your style from what I've seen on Polyvore. A Piper tank in Ivory sounds exciting. I have the silver color and should get it out as I haven't worn it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  126. math teacher, laverte, and gigiofca: Thanks! I will say that the Andrea is a medium weight and it would have to be worn ONLY when in the A/C, but it COULD be done if I can't wait until the weather cools a bit. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Thanks. Just bought a pair of heels and some shirts/skirts. Free shipping is nice. I was about to abort the order after the discount code didn't update the price, but after entering my JCrew ccard the discount finally updated. I can't stand the new JCrew website - so many issues.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yay! Just got the Jackie Cardigan in Rhubarb for $22 after the 30% off and my $25 rewards card

    ReplyDelete
  129. rosieposie and anyone else who wants the BR/Gap/ON discount--I have 3 more invitations I can email out--if you want to take a risk and post your email address on here. I am hesitant to post mine to have you email me directly. I will send out the coupon to the first 3 people who respond here.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Does anyone know if the student discount also applies to grad students and how to get them to apply it if ordering over the phone?

    ReplyDelete
  131. math teacher -- Off topic. You may have mentioned in another thread, but what are you getting your masters in?

ffm -- Oooh, of course I am now coveting the Piper in almond. And I see Jackies at $49.99 b/f discount. I need to do a closet check and then perhaps brave placing another other.

    ReplyDelete
  132. cass: They will just ask for an email (with an edu ending) to confirm your status as a student (grad or whatever) :)

    ReplyDelete
  133. To cass: Just tell the SA over the phone your school email address.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Long time "reader" of this blog (shortly after its inception) and I just wanted to say how much I agree with most of the comments relative to mixed up orders, non existant items etc. It has happened to me too. I ordered 7 items last Friday and the entire order was "lost?" They could not even find the order (I had placed it over the phone) and was given a conf. # but it never showed up on line or anywhere. A CS rep could not find it either so that's my latest snafu. I placed another order this a.m. Can't wait to see what happens with that!

I am also a long time JC shopper. I am now a SAHM who gave up teaching after my daughter was born so I can identify with many of you. Just wanted to say Hello.

    ReplyDelete
  135. So sorry I was "in the moment" I guess and forgot where I was posting. This should have been in another place I think.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Jacqueline - Hi and welcome. I think your post is in the right place. Alexis originates posts each day and we discuss this and that. There is no main forum for intros. At least I don't believe there is.

I hope you get your order straightened out or at least a credit. I feel for you.

    ReplyDelete
  137. ffm: that is FANTASTIC! I'm so happy for you! I'm sorry the andrea didn't live up to expectations though.

btw, I canceled my Lucille in Spicy Mustard so I could get it in orange instead. Called a couple of stores near me to see if they could send me one and no one has that color. SOOOO, I called CS to do a "We'll find it for you" and avoid purchasing on-line. HOWEVER, they said it can't be done since the item is in stock. So no Lucille for now.

It's funny because I feel like I'm begging J crew to let me spend money with them and they won't let me. My DH is very grateful.

p.s. I think j crew should consider allowing SAHMs to use the educator's discount too... I could use the dark circles under my eyes as I.D. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  138. I am working on the e-mail. You guys all have great comments! Feel free to keep 'em comming. Michelle, I hope you dont mind I am using some of your wording. You stated your thoughts so clearly and you comments were echoed by so many others.

I encourage you all to keep you comments coming. I will continue working tomorrow. But for now I need sleep.

FFM: I dont think I rememebed to say how happy I am for you about your order. You deserve a Jcrew happy day after all that happened to you this past month.

Have happy bella jacket/jcrew tote/ecole jacket/ whatever coveted item or loved jcrew clothing piece dreams all!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Hi Alexis,

Sorry for off-topic, but I found J.Crew Aficionada was picked up in internet news.

    http://racked.com/archives/2008/07/31/jcruel_seersucker_fans_not_appeased_by_yesterdays_apology.php

I do love your blog! Also I still love J.Crew even after missing several orders... Thank you for speaking out for us!

    ReplyDelete
  140. rocketscience-I have the exact same problem as you. None of the Fall skirts I tried on would fit in the waist. It's so frustrating because the colors are very pretty, I really wanted to come home with one. I did not see the denim pencil skirt in store, so I ordered it online and I am praying it fits.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I am wondering what the odds of orders comming without any issue are. Odds are getting lower for me... Right after upgrade, all orders came except one placed previously (J.Crew lost the order number). In July, the odds "shipped" out of "all orders" are 3/3, 1/2, 0/2... Finally, I decided not to order online for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  142. it does not work. Was I too late or there is a special way of entering the code?

    ReplyDelete
  143. girliegirl: i wanted the stretch cord skirt in grey and it was really disheartening when i went into the changing room with 7 items and went home barehanded. i wonder how the jeans would fit, 26s is a bit too big for me, i might order a 25s and hope it's good!

    ReplyDelete
  144. EXTRA30 code did not work for me. I called customer service and was told the code did not exist. Anyone had a similar experience or has any advice? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  145. tina -- I talked to CS at approx 11:45p PST on 8/2 and was told that the exra 30 was a glitch in the computer system. Apparently they didn't mean to offer that, according to her. I asked if the CS reps had been given a projected date of when the Internet issues would be fixed and she said no. Funny. Not. I feel for them. Call center work can be difficult enough, without these issues.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Thanks, Gigio. I guess I just missed the "glitch." The CS I spoke to was kind enough to offer me free shipping without limit. But without the 30% off, it is still not a good deal enough to lure me into putting all my coins on the counter... Still, thank you for the input.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Cass, If there is still one going spare, could you please email me the F&F code? juhu3544@live.co.uk Many Thanks, Julie

  148. hi everyone,

thought i'd ask the question here before heading to my local jcrew - i'm thinking about buying a bunch of orders for my fall clothes update, some of which are only available through the catalogue and not in stores. i did a mock check out earlier and the tab will be somewhere between 200-300 dollars.

since i'm a student i have an incentive to stop by the store and buy things at 10% off plus try them on. however the free-shipping code is really tempting as well - i'm not sure if you can still combine free-ship over the red phone with the student discount - any thoughts?

some of you might wonder why i don't just call cs and give them my school email over the phone - i totally would but my university is a huge state school that doesn't automatically give email accts to students!! argh! i just show my student id at the local jcrew and it has never been a problem. but things like this actually has me considering going through the process of applying for an email addy with school...

    thx

    ReplyDelete
  149. terrablanca: Call CS this morning before the phone lines get too busy and ask if they will allow you to apply student discount over the phone. Tell them the name of your college and explain the situation with the .edu addresses, and that you don't have one. Maybe they will allow it. At least if you try then you will know for sure. I've never placed a red phone order so I can't answer your other question...sorry! Let us know what happens. :)

    ReplyDelete
  150. sally: Thanks...it's not that I DON'T like the Andrea...I do think it's really beautiful, but I just don't love it like I thought I would...like there might be something else I like better...does that make sense? I will try the Andrea on again today for a second look. ;)

    blumre: Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  151. jacqueline: Hi and thanks for posting! It's always nice to meet other SAHM's who love J.Crew as much as the rest of us. ;) I wanted to let you know that CS ALSO lost my order for the Piper Tanks on Friday. I called the order in over the phone, was given the order #, but didn't receive a confirmation email, so I called back. The rep I spoke to couldn't find it anywhere! Fortunately for me that was the day the Drexler associate Brittany called me, and she was able to locate it...the order number had CHANGED, so I think the odds may be in favor of you actually getting those 7 items, if it was just another "glitch" in the system. Fingers crossed for you! :) Let us know what happens.

    ReplyDelete
  152. gigiofca: I am working on my masters in library and information science, focusing on school libraries. While I don't plan on leaving the classroom right away, it is nice to have an "out" that allows me to keep my retirement and continue to work with the students. :)

    ReplyDelete
  153. FFM: Congrats on receiving your items! That is fantastic news. :)

Jacqueline: Welcome aboard- we love to hear from other J.Crew Aficionadas! :) Also, Sorry to hear about your order being lost- that is awful!

Naomi: Thanks for the link! I actually saw that the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see the blog as a link. Also thanks for the nice comments about the blog- which is only great because of members like yourself (who are so helpful!) :)

gigiofca: Thanks for letting us know about that! I will be sure to post about it now.

    ReplyDelete
  154. terrablanca: You should be able to use the red phone to get free shipping (on regular priced items) and the student discount. A store associate would need to verify your status and tell the CS over the phone that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  155. blumre-(and all) I love the community organizing idea! You know your degree would come in handy. How sad that I am more energized by jcrew community action than some other things from SW school...well, we choose our battles! I have to catch up on the posts but count me in

    ReplyDelete
  156. Hi all, sorry I was off line last night. If anyone is still able to email the BR F&F code, my email is rosie_posiepink at hotmail.com.

    Thank you so much!

In JCrew news, I meant to say yesterday that I ordered the Lulu heels in burnt sienna but I am really thinking maybe I want the pink ones ... I haven't seen anyone post a review of these so I'll let everyone know what I think when I get them. If anyone else has them, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I am also considering the Fleur heels in blue ... decisions! I really love JCrew's shoes and own several pair. My only complaint is that a lot of the shoes don't come in my size (5). Probably best for my bank account though ...

  157. Rosieposie: Congrats on the Lulu heels- they look fantastic!!! If you wouldn't mind, perhaps you would be willing to review them for us? I would definitely make it into its own post! :)

  159. Cass, thank you so much for sending me the BR coupon. For some reason I couldn't get the code to work when I entered it online but I just phoned in my order with no problems. Thanks again!!
