J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}
14 comments:
Dear J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados: Please feel free (and encouraged) to share your thoughts and opinions. :) However, please note that this is still a personal blog. So comments that are considered inappropriate (e.g. obscene, racist, homophobic, personal attacks, rude, and just plain mean) will be removed.
And now back to J.Crew! :)
Hope this works. I started a private FB group to share pics and other thoughts. I know not everyone is into FB but the group is private.
ReplyDeleteI just get so frustrated with the posting issues and limitations here I thought it might be a good supplement.

DeleteFollow up on the Cashmere Relaxed Turtleneck Sweater in the Portico Blue. Cozy and gorgeous color, but it has significant pilling on the sides and under the arms after two days of wear. Out came the sweater shaver. Not sure if the rib knit makes it more prone to friction, but I actually had expected it to be better than a plain fine-gauge knit. Wondering if there are others out there who can comment on this season’s other cashmere styles after wear? This one was still expensive w promos and I considered another color but will hold off. Meanwhile, my cashmere wraps are fabulous.
ReplyDelete@ruffles, sorry to hear our disappointing news. Not surprised though. I purchased a few of the featherweight for gifts and most recently the relaxed v neck cashmere in the Heather Muslin. Quality is terrible, the weave in the sweater actually had small gaps/holes so this as well as the others were sent back. Sweater should not pill after a couple of days wear and has nothing to do with ribbing or not.
DeleteNew arrival reviews : Wool and recycled cashmere relaxed turtleneck Item BD149: My usual size small looks like I am wearing shrunken sweater due to the short sleeves. For the slouchy look as in model shown, doing to try medium- will need to see how the length works out.
ReplyDeleteIn love with the Tie-neck silk chiffon top Item BD757. I got the brown. Looks great with skirts, high waisted pants. Surprisingly the ruffles did not seem over the top as I expected. Tried my usual size small -runs big. Exchanging for an X small.
Got Tall 9" vintage slim-straight jean in Stay Black wash
Item BB770 in size 28. Loved the color, fit, very comfortable, thought it might stretch too much. Exchanging for Tall 27.
My ivory wool tuxedo trousers arrived and fit surprisingly well. I took my usual size 2. I was surprised because Mme. Jacqueline's black ones were way oversized. These are lined, but the wool is so thin that the pocket linings show through in a cheap way. I long for the days of the ivory wool flannel trousers.
ReplyDeleteOne surprise love from Anthro are the Pilcro icon flare corduroys. #63362206. I had to go up two sizes but I love the navy print. It reminds me of some of the Drake prints. It's vaguely medieval. There's also a gray print I tried on with moons in rust and blue and a solid orchid color.
@Mary G. That makes me wonder if my black tuxedo trousers had the wrong size sewn in. It was really astounding to see how huge they were! Agree that the wool is thin, and that was sort of disappointing even though you can't see through the black. If I thought they were fabulous, I would order a second 00 to see if the fit was different.
Delete@MmeJacqueline Yes, your sizing mess might be mislabeling. It seems everyone has forgotten how to cut and make a decent pair of pants, though. BR, Anthro and Crew all seem to have problems with sizing and cheap fabric. If I lived in a city with access to a good tailor, I'd bite the bullet and get a couple of pair of pants made. It looks like we're at the beginning of a higher waist, wider leg trend that we can ride for a while.
DeleteHas anyone purchased the villa coat in delicate pink....
ReplyDeleteI received the Curved cable-knit sweater
ReplyDeleteItem BD146 in both Heather Charcoal and Heather Stone. I love it and can't decide which color to keep. It's a good length on me (5'4"), not quite cropped. It's roomy in the arms and shoulders and a normal fit in the body. Help, which color to keep?
