And now back to J.Crew! :)
Wore the crepe sole Nordic boots from last winter for the first time earlier this week. Initially I was disappointed that the shearling wasn’t on the insole as the other Nordic boots, but with a wool sock they were super comfortable and warm. I love that they look a little sleeker than the original—which I have and love. Both pairs were well worn on our little (mostly) outdoor getaway upstate.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious because I was unable to snag them, but really glad to hear they work as an alternative to the nordic boots we love so much.
DeleteGlad you got to get away! And enjoy your Nordic boots.
DeleteI'm sure I'll be wearing mine this winter, though less than expected due to WFH.
The funniest thing was sitting by the firepit our first night. I noticed the bottom of my husbands Everlane tread sneakers was smoking. The crepe sole got super soft and as we walked back gravel got imbedded in the sole. I left them and then the next day I was able to remove the gravel. Beware the firepit. Lol
Delete(The crepe sole of my boots, I mean. I was a little concerned but thank goodness they’re fine.)
Delete@Suz, Quite a hot hubby you have! Glad the sneakers weren't damaged. Have a nice day!
DeleteYeah, then hot-footed it outta there!
DeleteYou guys are funny. Luckily all of our shoes survived. One of the staff said the fire was about 800 degrees.
Delete@Suz, so nice to hear that you had a little getaway at least! @Lynn, @pbanos very witty! Thank you for the smile.
DeleteJan, it was basically the first time I’ve left the vicinity of my house since March. Daughter moved off campus upstate (freshman and campus is closed) and she was feeling a little homesick. So it was a nice little change of scenery
Delete@Suz, that’s so nice that you got to spend time with her! I hope that she’s doing well. I’m sure a change of scenery was amazing. We haven’t gone anywhere since March either and boy do I miss travelling.
DeleteThank you. Being off campus has it’s challenges but like anything else 2020 is all about compromise and making the best of things.
DeleteI am such a homebody but the change of scenery was nice. We may try to do a few short days away driving distance. Even if we don’t eat out but just explore, it’s a good way to support a different local Economy.
@Suz, wonderful to hear you are able to spend time with your daughter and get away with your "hot hubby". It's so nice to hear that there's someone such as yourself to find creative ways to make the best of things and are fortunate to do so. I hope others here have a chance to do the same and safely. Happy Halloween to all!
DeleteContinuing on with my dressing to WFH the same as I did at the office. Today I'm wearing a dark wash denim sleeveless jumpsuit with a Liberty perfect shirt, Academy loafers, and a wrap that was supposed to replace my office sweater but never even made it to the office. 100% JCrew, comfortable but not stretchy pants.
ReplyDeleteGive you credit! Can’t get out of my pajamas today! Lol!!! Wish I can do that every day! But I only get 1, maybe 2 remote days per week, so unless I have a meeting which requires camera, I am not as good!!! Lol
Delete@pbanos, sounds really nice. Speaking of denim do you like the new bow tie denim shirt? Spoke with my VPS and she said they were up at the most ordered shopping items the other day. There are more on order too. I'm not too sure about this but I ordered one to try. We'll see. Have a nice day!
DeleteGenerally a fan of everything denim, chambray or just indigo-dyed. But with my wide square shoulders and short neck bow ties are not my first choice. But if I had a longer neck and torso I'd probably think this was cute. Maybe even with a sweater vest layered over.
Delete@pbanos, thanks for your thoughts. I like your idea of a sweater vest over it. Again, will just have to see in person. I do know judging from the measurements I was given and according to the photo online it looks large. A lot of fabric stuffed into those pants she’s wearing.
Deletewell, I ordered 2 (sizes) to try. Can’t even guess at sizes any more.
DeleteI like that one too, but no 40 off on it. So I can wait!
DeletePurchased @40% off pluse CARDLOVE
DeleteI guess it’s finished! I just checked! They do that sometimes!
DeleteI can’t get the codes to work together!
Deletedon’t add cardlove until the last minute - the website has to know you’re paying with a JC card first. fussy, fussy.
DeleteI was able to snag the NB 996 sneakers I wanted at 6:45 am today on popback. It's a relief as I was tired of checking constantly, ha. Also VERY appreciative that J Crew is MUCH faster recently getting returns processes and credited. In the early days of the pandemic it was taking over a month!
ReplyDeleteWhat a feeling of relief! I am stalking jeans on another site and have had no luck :(
Deletehaha, I know, the constant stalking is such a drag! It often works though, which is why I keep doing it, lol. I think it was here on JCA that I learned about stalking for pop backs...Nordstrom, BR, it works lots of places :D
Delete@julie were the NB on sale? I tried to use the birthday $25 off in store but couldn’t.
Deleteno, they were excluded from promo and it's probably the first time in YEARS I have paid list price for something at JC. Even on the New Balance site, that same model is $90. I was hoping to get one of those $25 cards in the mail and use that toward it but I didn't get one and sounds like you couldn't get your birthday "gift" to work either. I did get a random email from J Crew earlier this week with an extra 15% off your order code (weird) but that didn't work either so saving that one for when "cardlove" runs out, ha.
DeleteThanks for the reply Julie. I love NB and in the past bought the salt and navy versions of the style 520 at full price too. I like the yellow color but not sure how it will work. Perhaps best with dark denim. As for birthday rewards, I gave up using for women’s clothing. I take it to men’s store and they combined it with 30%+20% plus extra $25 birthday reward off. I got a few very nice shirts, pant and tees for my hubby. He was very happy. The men’s associate said that the women’s store is inundated with such discount requests that the associates are too lazy to try to apply the birthday rewards to current discount. Anyway, hope you can figure out a way to use your extra discount without spending too much time. 😄

ReplyDeleteOn the discussion of chateau parka And silver zipper
ReplyDeleteThe factory site what’s their veil parka in grey with gold zipper! Only $106. I am not sure about he quality. But pics look nice ....
https://factory.jcrew.com/p/womens-clothing/coats_jackets/woolcoats/vail-parka/J6178?color_name=hthr-dusk
I had a Factory Vail parka for a few seasons, it was really nice. It wasn't super warm (but I'm in Michigan) but the wool blend was nice and didn't pill or fuzz up. The only thing I didn't like was the faux fur around the hood was non removable and I don't like fur trimmed hoods, they feel too bulky to me. That was the only reason I eventually got rid of it. I got a much better price though, like $40-$50. They really super sale their coats later in the season, esp right after Christmas.
DeleteThank Kate for that info! It looks nice. I had a factory chateau parka a few years ago and it’s a good substitute. I ended up ordering the vintage chartreuse in hopes that it’s like the old bronzed ochre of yore. Not the neutral I was looking for but I hope it’s a good one. Also got my eye on the evergreen color too but I have the evergreen cocoon and who needs 2 green coats, hahaha!!
DeleteOrdered the spring green lady day coat on super sale earlier in the week and got it yesterday. (i live in Virginia). It’s a beautiful coat but it isn’t...spring green. It’s more of a mossy soft green with a touch of gray/blue in there. Much more subtle than the photographs online indicate.
ReplyDelete@swp in Nova, That’s always so disappointing when items look different IRL! Are you keeping it or is the colour not appealing?
DeleteThere are a number of things I like in the new rollout. Have not ordered in many months but likely will now.
ReplyDeleteFinally a beautiful true yellow cashmere crewneck sweater. K1313 Heather Lemon. Reminiscent of old jcrew yellows of 2013-2015. Soft TTS. Ordered one from a store for $53.40. Manager was very generous with discounts.
ReplyDeleteHave any of you thought about what Jcrew might do on Election Day? Since their call center will be closed wondering if they will pull an online Flash Sale again.
ReplyDelete@lynn I have no idea but I hope so!! I have my wishlist ready!
Delete@Falan Folarin, if you read my post below I suppose it's a quasi Election Day Sale:) Used my $25.00 coded gift card and some rewards and purchased the wool cashmere blazer cheap for a friend's daughter's birthday. Not FS so she can exchange it. As welfedfred remarked, she doesn't even know what size to order anymore. Agree. Hope you find something and stay safe down there in FLL. That goes for anyone else here too.
DeleteAs most of you here perhaps have already seen, there's a sale going on 50% off on certain items and back to only 25% off on others that were previously discounted. Not sure if Im seeing double but has anyone seen there a a couple of new items they slid in?
