J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Hi all, I went to wear my regatta pants after washing on delicate and noticed that the seam on the front of the pants a couple of inches below the waistband has an area that looks like the seam thread holes are pulled/bigger than they should be. Due to the poly material I’m worried that if I wear them that area could rip easily and since it’s the front of the pants on the seam it would be noticeable.
So sad because I really love these pants and they’re sold out. Does anyone know how I can fix this or prevent it from tearing? I’m not sure if a tailor could sew that area better because the thread holes are pretty big so the material there seems damaged. Thank you!

    1. Maybe adding seam binding or bias tape would work. You'd have to take apart the seam to do it.

    2. @jan, oh no. I failed sewing when I was in school so what I would suggest is to get in the phone with CS explain what happened and see if they can possibly locate another pair. If not ask if you can bring them to a tailor and reimburse you or better yet take something additional off if you paid more than $40.00. Whatever is financially do what works best for you. Good luck. Sorry again to hear this. I don’t have any issues with mine .....yet.

    3. @ unknown, thank you! I was thinking of some kind of seam tape but I don’t think I would be good at taking apart a seam. I’ll look into that though.
@Lynn, I hope yours never have a problem! They are lovely pants which is why I’m so disappointed. Jcrew did offer to cover a tailor as they’re sold out. I don’t know if any tailors are open yet around me so I was thinking of trying to fix it. I’d like to wear them. But I don’t know how to sew either. :)

    Lace-up strappy sandals in leather
    Item: L5483
    Size: 8H MEDIUM
    Color: BLACK

Love these. Fits perfectly. To me looks like a decent quality shoe. The leather straps are soft. If you have wider than average feet they might not work but I feel chic in them.

The length is out of my usual comfort zone but looks nice with the sandals above. I know it’s shown with a chunky sweater but for me I think a more fitted top will work better. I tried with a satin puff sleeve top from a few springs ago and it was ok, might try with a silk button down and the sleeveless tie neck top I wear all the time. Husband said it looked formal like I was a hostess at a restaurant. 😆 but I would actually wear this in lieu of a dress.

FWIW I tried the black sandals and top with the sunset pleated tapered pants and they don’t look halloweenish so whew.

  3. After a dreaded cancellation of calf hair espadrilles, i ordered twisted know espadrilles in leopard brown AN874. At under $7, i figured that a risk was minimal. Normally 7.5 in most JCrew, i went up half a size and ordered 8. As predicted, the slides are tight, but upper fabric is cotton. So, i sprayed it with water and wore around the house. Lo and behold, the fabric stretched and now they are fitting much better. I think with time, they will fully mold and stretch and will fit just fine. Going up 1/2 a size was the right decision though. Otherwise, they look great. And even though i would advise against running a marathon in these, they are fun to walk around the house.

  4. Last week made a great order with the 72% off. Today it arrived. Only problem there was only one thing in the box that I ordered. My order says everything shipped except one pair of pants. I had several Ratti popovers in there that I loved. Instead I got a kid's t-shirt, ugly shorts that aren't my size, a horrible sleeveless sweater and so on. I was heartbroken. So guess I am saving the $100 I spent.

    1. Wow - you got a whole box of stuff you didn't order??

    2. Yes. There was one t-shirt that I ordered but decided to send it back with the entire lot. Wonder who got all my Ratti tops that were about $20-25 each when I ordered them. I was heartbroken. Now they are back online at about $50 each.

    3. They should honor the price you originally paid. Definitely contact CS About that. Show them your original invoice and ask that since the items were not delivered could you reorder at the price you previously paid. Insist. I had that happen when they canceled an order and it showed up at a higher price

    4. I agree with Suz. You ordered the right things and they delivered the wrong things. They should honor the price you paid since it wasn’t your fault. call CS!

    5. Definitely call - they should honor the price you paid for the items that didn’t ship. This has happened to me & J Crew has always honored the sale price. I’m sorry this happened to you. First world problems and all, but it’s still disappointing.
