Not a vent - was excited to read about J.Crew's latest collaboration with Oxford Pennant (tees and pennants), which is a company based in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. Products are made in the USA :)
ReplyDeleteJust placed a giant order because I don’t know when the promo ends (it’s hard to find promo language on the mobile site and I don’t get emails, no matter how many times I’ve tried signing up). I ordered the paper bag waist pants, liberty popover in Josephine floral, ruffle eyelet top in white, striped mules, cotton dobby top in blue stripes, the limoncello graphic tee and gelato tee. We’ll see what works!

DeleteOut of 5 liberty print dresses 3 are ruffle hem and 2 are ruffle neck. I'd like a bit more variety.
ReplyDeleteYes, when J.Crew goes in they go ALL in, don’t they? Hence the glut of OTS tops in past seasons, or this winter’s velvet extravaganza that they’re still trying to get rid of. I have pretty low ruffle tolerance so these will all be passes for me.

DeleteI wish they made a simple shirt dress... Short sleeves... No extra ruffles... Just a nice simple shirt dress in a pretty liberty fabric.

DeleteA cute Liberty print shift would have been a perfect dress for me. They always double down on one look and then if it isn't something I like I'm basically sitting that season out.

DeleteI'd like an A-line bottom part and absolutely no ruffles anywhere.
DeleteWhy is everything so busy? Why can’t they have simple classic shapes? An a line above the knee skirt without ruffles.
DeleteThis is not a vent, although I’ve vented many times this year about my sweaters pilling and looking like junk. I decided before I tossed a big box of black sweaters that I’ve barely worn I’d soak them. I read something about enzyme detergent eating away at the pills. I don’t know exactly what happened but I let them soak a very long time, overnight (maybe two nights) in a cold water bath with a capful of Oxiclean that I dissolved and Mrs Meyers lavender detergent I just got. Two gap sweaters I literally decided I couldn’t even wear to clean the house look much better. I washed at least four Jcrew Cambridge cable variations that looked terrible just from sitting on the shelf this season and they look almost new.

DeleteSo just regular powder Oxyclean?! Maybe I would throw in some Woolite too. I have a bunch of older Cambridge Cable sweaters that I love but have a lot of pilling.
DeleteYes but I made sure to dilute the oxi in cold water. I don’t have woolite but if you try it report back!
DeleteDoes it matter if it's dry clean only stuff? I've been overly cautious about washing things lately.
DeleteI hand wash all my sweaters. The only thing I’d dry clean are coats, blazers and suits, but very rarely. I can use dryel and steam them, spot clean if needed.

If you want incan check on saturday if there are any stores that have those two colors left. What is the stylenumber of the throw?

DeleteOuch! Woolite is a no no for cashmere! Baby shampoo is better. I use the Laundress for cashmere and wool works great but have also used the baby shampoo which does a great job too. Even Baby Dreft works. Used that too. Just my humble opinion, but those all come from the experts too.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t wash any cashmere, although I’ll usually use an eco friendly dish soap or even Dr bronners lavender Castile soap. I only tried the combo above out of desperation because the sweaters picked up a lot of lint and fuzz.

ReplyDeleteA WWYD: Has anyone gotten the Madewell Scalloped Eyelet Midi Dress? I bought it in yellow in the larger of my two sizes and it was tight. I returned the yellow dress and re-ordered it in red in the next size up. I'm on the fence about keeping it. The neckline is low and I don't know if I'm going to want to deal with that. I probably need something under it, or maybe my tailor can stitch it closed (that might look awkward though).
ReplyDeleteIf you have it or if you've seen it, what did you think? I think this dress would be easier to wear if I were flatter on top. But it's fine in the bust in the larger size. The waist seems a bit high, shoulders still a bit tight. I'm kind of obsessed with this red eyelet fabric though. Keep or return, what would you do? I know the fit isn't perfect, but it's wearable in the last size I ordered. Thanks for weighing in!
