This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
I saw the new video last night that Ina talked about. Carolyn Murphy is a features model now! Lots of leopard, lots of 3 strap flats, loafers, mules in velvet and snakeskin, too. Also jeweled. Statement necklaces have returned. It looked like a tweed blazer for women in 4 colorways. And I think a tiger print topcoat?
ReplyDeleteWould you be able to share a link to the video or let me know where to find it - I missed the feed from Ina that you are referring to. Thanks!
DeleteIt's something for employees, I'm sorry.
DeleteThis seems like another missed marketing/PR opportunity. I understand the video you and Ina viewed is for employees but since they already have the footage they should put a short video together as a customer preview. Especially since there is no longer a style guide.
DeleteI would think nearly every company with products that change has a sneak peak type of video or pictures for employees only. Even car manufacturers. If they were to be seen by the public, the budget would most likely be higher and more thought would go into it.
Delete@Cheri I agree and understand your point. It just seems they do so little to promote new items other than an email the day of the rollout. I miss the good old days.
DeleteJess, I miss sticking post it notes in the catalog and having them get dog eared. And then when I was young (literally 20+ years ago) I would circle like 3 or 4 things and hope my parents would get me something for my birthday or Christmas.
DeleteCheri. Yep those were the good old days. On a different note I love the Jack Rogers wedges I purchased from Lord & Taylor the other week that you posted about. They are the perfect height and comfortable. Now I wish I got a 2nd color.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear it! I didn't like the color I ordered but my mom waa thrilled when I gave her a pair. I regret not picking up the wedges too.

Delete@Cheri I received many photos from my VPS several days ago. Example, the new Ratti tiger print comes in a shirt dress, blouse, oversized bandana. She also explained that whatever is seen on the video or in pics they are deliberately blurred. Lots of floral prints, nothing with a Wow factor yet. Her words not mine. Items are available for preorder.
DeleteHere:Oversized Silk Bandana in Tiger Foulard (J9665), $49.50
DeleteCollection Silk Twill Shirtdress in Ratti Tiger Print (J7157), $298
Collection Silk Twill Button-up in Roaming Tiger Print (K1066), $120
Slim Boy Jean with Patch and Distressing (J5873), $128
Tortoise Penny Sandals (J8227), $138
Thomas Mason for J.Crew Bubble-sleeve Shell (J8629), $128. Unfortunately I am unable to post photos here of what was sent to me.
DeleteYes, I'm also unable to post photos though I haven't seen any blurred... I'm glad your VPS was able to take good care of you.
DeleteThat sounds amazing!!! Thanks for sharing! Any chance you saw any lace pants and/or skirts? Mine need replacing :)
ReplyDeleteI did not Liz, but it is just highlights, not the entire collections, and I had to pause it every few seconds and rewind a lot :)
DeleteReceived an order today of sale items for my littles plus one pencil skirt for me. This is what is so frustrating: the pencil skirt, in the same size as 3 others that I have, can’t even be zipped! It’s at least 2 sizes too small. And one of the shirts I ordered for my oldest was a size 16 (instead of size 8). Ugh jcrew! It doesn’t seem like jcrew is flagging customers with lots of returns like other retailers, but I have had a ton of returns for these kinds of issues.
ReplyDeleteOh, me too, Liz. The sizing differences are crazy. I've been receiving a lot of "mistakes" in my orders, too. Wrong size or completely wrong item. I get it, stuff happens, but it is happening a lot more lately. Since my local store closed, the returns pile up until I have a chance to drive 30 minutes to the nearest store. GRRRR!
Deletedoes anyone else remember when Personal Shoppers would share the new season’s Lookbook with a privileged few, and accept pre-orders from the Lookbook? I never achieved that beatified status, but people would talk about it on the blog, or instore, at registers, in hushed voices. One day, while I was placing a phone order, the voice on the other end announced she was becoming a Personal Shopper and would like to work with me and was there anything special... I immediately asked to be put on the list to receive the Lookbook. She gasped. No, that wouldn’t happen. The Lookbooks, she explained, were reserved for good customers.
ReplyDeleteSounds like we may be coming full circle.
I never earned that vaulted status either, despite working w the same VPS for several years, and I chalked it up to being a nearly 100% sale vs. FP buyer. But I was always grateful to the fabulous JCAs who would generously photo and share their look books and preview emails. I miss that!
DeleteNever experienced this since shopping 2007 perhaps earlier. Then again, our store here wasn't full of wanna be elitists. A great team, great manager who broke the "rules". Nice to everyone that passed through the door. They were there to sell and indeed they did. Pity they closed as they were a top selling store in the U.S.
DeleteDid anyone see Megan Markle at Prince Harry’s polo match carrying the J Crew fan rattan clutch? Very cute.
ReplyDeleteYes on the Daily Mail early this morning. Sent article to my vps and she replied all sold out in no time.(900) They weren’t doing well at all before. Referring to the bag I hope as “cute”
DeleteLol yes, Lynn, the bag!
DeleteWhew was worried before I hit the publish button! Didn’t want to “ruffle” feathers here. By the way, I received some previews and pics earlier; couldn’t post the pics but I did post above Ratti Tiger print collection item numbers. They’re nice. New color. Lots of Leopard prints, florals etc. not too crazy about some of the florals; look like drapes. This is just my humble opinion. Other prints I would have to rely on someone else’s reviews.
DeleteStyling the slim boyfriend jeans with frayed hems and built-in-bra tank on the blog today. I sized down one size in the denim. They run large.
