This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!

ReplyDeleteHope it works!
It did, thanks!! I like a lot.
DeleteThanks, Liz. worked!
DeleteThanks, Liz. There's a lot of stuff here. At the top of my screen it says “VIP perk alert: up to 30% off your purchase when you use your unique code. Online only.” Did you get a code with the early access e-mail? Just curious - I've been getting "welcome to JC" e-mails lately. LOL...only been shopping with you over 10 years!
DeleteI didn't get the email either but a friend forwarded it to me - and where the code was it said "xxxxxxx" so...what's the code. And I'd like to think I'm a VIP with as much as I shop there!! I'm intrigued with a $98 cashmere pullover (is this a mistake or is "everyday" cashmere something different? Seems odd that merino sweaters are priced more) and I like the darker berry look of the velvet Parke blazer but...the other shot makes the dried rose look like it's a lighter pink. Which is it? I need to settle in with coffee and a closer look but I think there will be a few things to try out and I'm intrigued to see the full rollout.
DeleteI got this email directly from JCrew, “VIP perk alert: up to 30% off your purchase when you use your unique code", with the code that's just a bunch of X's. That's really a big disappointment. Not sure why they'd tease us this way.
DeleteI received the same email with the bogus code. Not sure why they sent it without the proper code. I'm looking to buy some new work clothes so it would be nice to have the code....
DeleteYes, thank you! No email for me either (sad trombone). I like the cashmere slit tunic (wish there was a tan or cabernet, but black or persimmon will work) and Donegal wool cardigan. I'm intrigued by new cashmere prices on the lower end & what that means in terms of quality. Ordered cosmic cardigan during 30% promo & concerned to see the fabric content. I think it's that blend that pills😞. Look forward to the full October roll out next week.
DeleteThanks for sharing. some of these new arrivals look promising
Delete@Anne i saw that blazer and wondered what color it was too! i like the color in the photo shot... looks deeper pink/red color... but i think the real color is probably closer to the light pink... not my thing. (sad trombone)
DeleteAnne- one of the only things I was intrigued by was the Everyday Cashmere. If $98 really is the price I can only imagine how bad the quality will be. The quality of the more expensive cashmere last year was not good and had been going down hill year after year.
DeleteThanks for the link, Liz! I have gotten the sneak peek email in the past, but didn't this time so appreciate the info. I spied a few promising things, Wishlisted a few. (I like the Stars/moon theme, curious to see some items in person. I like the stars and crescent moon earrings, and I'm also curious about that ruffle star print top. We'll see.
DeleteOh! I'll mostly curious about the cropped sweater blazer b/c I'm petite and most blazers, even in Petite, end up too long in the body for me.
The product description of the Everyday Cashmere says "We recommend folding (never hanging) and storing in tissue paper." Store in tissue paper? What the heck would happen to it on my body after 8 hours?
DeleteI was wondering what the quality level of these could be with what has happened to the $200+ J Crew cashmere, and there's my answer.
Actually that has been the care instructions for their cashmere for a while now. I find it hilarious because the sale section is usually full of sweaters (some cashmere) hanging on wood hangers 😒
DeleteThanks for the link, Liz! I like a few things, nothing that exciting though. I would like to try the leopard coat. But with no petite sizing, I'd have to see how the xxs or xs fits.
DeletePS: what is up with the Collection Rugby top? Is it a tunic? A dress? Oversized hot mess.
Hi JSR - I think that Collection rugby top is on the right here. I like the look of it in the Pinterest pic, but yeah, it looks pretty huge on the website.
DeleteTo anyone who has the Chateau Parka, does this year's version look any different? The fur looks more brown than gray to me (I was thinking it was more gray before?). Does the fur trim look like it's as big as it was in past versions? Thanks!
Deletesilver_lining, it looked too long on the web site, but I like the way they made it look in that photo. They must have really tucked and pinned it to get it to look that way, though. I'd be interested in it if it weren't so long.
Delete@Silver Lining - Wow, you are right. The model from nyfw was probably wearing two sizes smaller than hers. The j.crew site's photo looks like a pajama.
DeleteFYI- Everyday Cashmere is excluded from the promo anyway.
DeleteCate, I'm a big Chateau fan. The fur trim is definitely brown and not the soft gray of prior years. I think it looks nice on the burgundy colorway but I don't like it as well as the gray.
DeleteThanks Ruffles! I guess I'll have to try it on to know if I like it.
DeleteOkay, I like these items a lot better than the hot mess of a rollout they just released.
DeleteI ended up getting a second email with a unique code. I'll share if I don't use it, I've got my eyes on a few things at Kate Spade and they are running one of their rare 25% off promos.
Deletecate, I noticed that too re: the chateau parka. The fur looks ok on the black/darker color ones but weird on the lighter colored ones. I would love a new grey one since I need to replace mine but I may be hunting eBay since I prefer the lighter fur color with the grey.
DeleteAlso thanks for the heads up. I trashed this email without reading it. Found it though!
DeleteThere is also an email that says, in pretty small print, $20 off a $50 order in store when you try on a pair of pants. That's a decent percentage off. That's 40%, if your item is close to the $50 mark.
DeleteFingers crossed that some of the shoes featured in NYFW are going to be included when the full roll out is released. If I don't see some of those gorgeous multi-strap Mary Jane pumps they showed, I am going to be upset.
DeleteMeanwhile, the strapless wool jumpsuit appears to have made it to production.
Thanks Anne! I don't know which I'd like better on the Chateau fur. I'll have to try on and see. I know something about it was not right on me last year. Sometimes they tweak things season to season (like the fur color), though, so maybe this year's will be better on me. I hope you can find the gray trim one... I agree the gray looks better on some of the colors.
Delete@TheDish
DeleteIn the new Accessories catalog is a multistrap Suede sandla with glitter heel and also a Averiy tweed glitter pump with ankle stap.
Thanks Ina!
DeleteI don't understand how something can be listed as a best seller when it's not been released yet (the $250 faux fur coat).

ReplyDeleteoops, not enough coffee...Thanks very much Liz!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh sweater blazer with striped lining!
ReplyDeleteI saw the star print crepe pants at Brookfield Place this week and totally bypassed them because I thought they were pajama pants... as in actual pants to sleep in. I'm not sure I would be able to get away with wearing those in any workplace. I like star prints but not exactly the most sophisticated print, especially for pants.
Factory has shoes buy one get one free, but can't apply gilt code to it and the prices on shoes are doubled from the weekend
ReplyDeleteI just rolled my eyes so hard at that promo. Let's double the prices, then make everything BOGO! Are most customers that stupid? The rest of their pricing games are nonsense too. I paid $64 in store for the pink tweed blazer last Saturday, today it is $103.50. Insane.
DeleteYes, I was online last night at "that" time and the Anya flats were $39.50 when the promo started as opposed to $74.50 today. I didn't want to pay for shipping or so I just didn't order. I keep trying to replace my beloved Italian Ceces but no dice.
DeleteAnthro Blogger, I share the love for the Ceces and I have replaced a couple worn pairs with Anyas. Not worth FP but I'm happy with them on a good promo.
DeleteI received the same VIP email with the xs. I do like the white velvet a line dress with the black bow a lot. It's only $88 before the 30% off (if that is the discount). I also like the wool tiered pants, both the gray and pink versions. The red cropped sweater jacket is more to my liking though it may not work for me. Finally, I love the plaid kitten heels but they're too pricey and I don't need them. I am intrigued by the rugby sweater but it's way over priced and will probably make me look pregnant. I want to try these on in store.
ReplyDeleteI just received a revised email with a unique code for the discount (or maybe they're all the same) so check your email!
DeleteI also received a revised email with a unique discount code attached to the new arrivals link. 20% off 2 or more select items AND 30% off 3 or more select items. You might do better to call CS for a straight 30% off like Anne - Fab Life
DeleteI called CS and got the same offer as @rashasnda, 20% off 2 and 30% off 3 or more select items.
DeleteI'll be interested to see if anyone actually gets a straight 30% off.
I got the email with the same "xxx" code! Ugh! I love the velvet tank, houndstooth heels, and the sweatshirt blazer! I may online chat them about sending a proper promo code!
ReplyDeleteI used the chat function and they said they're aware of the issue and offered to apply the discount manually if I was ready to check out or call when I was ready to place the order and they'd apply the 30% code.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip and update, Anne! I didn't get an email, but that's OK, I need to wait on shopping more right now anyway. I didn't buy anything during all of August, but managed to score the camo toothpick and Tippi over Labor Day weekend. I'm hoping the Rose-gold sequin skirt (in P) comes through.
DeleteI like a few things from the new rollout, looks promising and I can't wait to see what you and other JCAs find!
Seriously, someone needs to really clean house in marketing and web team. Dueling information between products and social media, unfinished product descriptions and stuff like this, no wonder the wheels are coming off the cart
DeleteYeah, what do you think everyday cashmere is supposed to be?
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by the way they keep changing the verbiage around their cashmere. It used to be "pilling is a sign of 'quality'" (hi, WFF!), then last year this whole "we changed it to not pill as much - won't be as soft, buy hey, you asked for it!", and now it's "everyday cashmere" at half the price of last year's sweater? I wonder if it's the same as Macy's Charter Club cashmere that they sell for $39.99 at Black Friday (I bit on one a few years ago - like wearing a cloud that pilled front to back in 5 minutes). Doesn't appear to be any mention of it being Italian anymore. FWIW, the only luck I've really had with JC cashmere has been the thicker, lower-gauge knits.
DeleteOne other thing - a lot of the cashmere pieces have reviews that are so mixed; either "it's crap that pilled immediately" or "it has no pilling whatsoever". What's up with that? Do you think it's due to differences in batches... or do some people have a lower tolerance for raggedy looking sweaters? Friday thoughts...
Delete@silver_lining I noticed that sometimes reviews are from several years ago, so they don't necessarily reflect the current offering. I now look primarily at the most recent reviews
Deletesilver_lining, probably worse than Macy's. I mentioned the care instructions for the everyday cashmere upthread. Tissue paper?
DeleteThat's what I had thought, silver_lining. I do like that they are basic sweaters, but I'll be waiting to see if anyone else bites first.
Deletefleur de lys: I always go to the recent ones too. Otherwise who knows what you're getting.
Have any of you tried Boden cashmere? I tend to stick to merino sweaters but I'd like to have at least one cashmere sweater.
I ordered Boden cashmere once - it was scratchy and not worth the price (I think it was smth like $129). That was a few years ago...
DeleteThe Smithsonian recommends using undyed (white), acid-free tißue paper to store delicate textiles. Enough already.
DeleteWFF- funny that you mention the tissue paper that the SI recommends. There are two types of tissue available, buffered and unbuffered. As a museum person, there's a difference between the two depending on the types of fibers you're storing, especially if people are clueless enough to use regular gift tissue paper! Bad/clueless copy writing strikes again!
DeleteI am also curious about the everyday cashmere. I have some of Everlane's cashmere from the past two years, it has held up well, and it is available at these same lower prices. Maybe this is similar. I wonder if J Crew changed manufacturers. It seems the Italian cashmere is gone.
DeleteHas anyone caught any of the NYFW shows? I do miss Jenna and J Crews presence. I saw Tory Burch Spring 2018 this morning and it was dreamy. Beautiful and wearable, not crazy editorial, and not one ill-placed ruffle in sight. I hope J Crew jumps off the ruffle train soon.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss Jenna's 'style' presence, too.
DeleteI read somewhere that JC will be doing a separate "presentation" in October. Not sure where or in what context.
DeleteI stopped by to pick up a ship to store order, but tried it on and returned it all.
ReplyDeleteCamo pants in toothpick and the wider leg. Eh. They fit fine but didn't wow me. I tend to find J.Crew toothpick too stretchy/clingy. I thought the material would be a little more rigid. Both are on IG @wearthislikethis.
I also tried the funnel neck tops in the stripe and the white. I ordered a size 2 tall but would probably size up to a 4 tall. The stripe was cute, but sort of just hangs. I wasn't crazy about the white, it looked and felt like a straight jacket or a chefs top.
I also tried on the gold crackle ballet flats but hey didn't have my size. They run smaller than most of the other ballet flats. I'll probably buy these when sale is a percentage off again, they were forty percent off the sale price but I missed that promo.
Chef's top! Even though I tried and like the shirt, I agree with the comparison!
DeleteI didn't make a special trip but stopped in since I was in the mall for a return elsewhere. The store was dead quiet, and the sale section was the smallest it's ever been. I was away during the last big %off promo so I guess they really cleaned house. J.Crew, if you're serious about "everyday pricing", how about lowering the price on the Pink Houndstooth skirt from a year ago that's still sitting there at $89.99 CAD? Honestly, it's just sad and pathetic to see it during every visit for the past 9 months.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Rose-gold sequin skirt. While several reviewers mentioned sizing down, I found it TTS. I couldn't do up the size smaller, so it wasn't even close. Nothing in new arrivals was of interest, I stocked up on Maddies last season so don't need any work pants, and I absolutely don't need anything with ruffles so that eliminates most of the tops.
I also passed through Anthropologie and found the store strangely empty, as if they're missing half of their stock. Their sale section was nearly cleared out, but again, I missed the big end-of-season 40% off bonanza. I hope the store isn't going to close, we've only had it for about a year!
I really like the leather loafer mules, but as I am going on a vacation and they are not practical for vacation. I will just wait until they're on clearance when I get back.
ReplyDeleteI also like the Merino V-neck sweater with drawstring sleeves. Abercrombie has a sweater like this, but I didn't like what it was made of. I might get this if there is an in-store promo I can stack with those 15% off cards.
I was really disappointed in the Relaxed boatneck sweater. I was so sure I was going to love it. Unfortunately I completely missed the sleeves. They're wide and short. It makes them very awkward and the sweater look frumpy. I have a sweater in a similar cut that I love, but the sleeves are really long. I was debating on whether to keep it and wear the sleeves rolled up, but I wasn't happy with that idea, so back it went.
Hi Jessica - thanks for your thoughts on the relaxed boatneck. I want to love it in theory (great knit and color in spice) but every time I try it on something feels off. After reading your review I think it's the sleeves. I also have a sweater in a similar cut, but the sleeves are slightly shorter and the body is longer. The way the sleeves and the body end at almost the same point just doesn't work for me.
DeleteI liked the relaxed boatneck sweater from the pictures, but too bad the sleeves are odd. I'll still try it on, since it looks like it's 100% cotton and I like that, but I'll keep expectations low.
DeleteI got the relaxed boatneck sweater in navy and love it. It fit tts for me and it's a nice weight cotton knit.
DeleteDefinitely give it a try, cate. I have a short torso and long arms and this sweater seemed to bring attention to both of them, ha! I have better luck with either a tunic shape or a Tippi (the real Tippi, not the turtleneck version with ruffles and zippers).
DeleteI bought mules at Banana Republic this week. Very good quality, on sale (30% off) and very comfortable. Much better deal to me than the ones JC has this fall.
DeleteThe pink/navy rugby shirt has shipped (supposedly!). I ordered it in two sizes, and one of them hasn't shipped yet (along with a few other things). If you go to the web site now and order it, it's showing it as a Pre-Order with a ship date of 12/15/17. That was for other colors too.
ReplyDeleteStrange, bc I also saw both the pink and the champagne versions in a store I visited here in NYC. Wonder whether there's an issue with their inventory tracking system or some such. Hope your items ship soon!
DeleteThat's odd that the web site says they're not available until December. I think their inventory tracking system is messed up.
Delete@cate, I meant to add that I saw these items in the store just last night when I went to make a pick-up after work. (This was at the Columbus Circle store in case you wanted to ask a VPS or customer service to help track one down.)
DeleteI also just saw that the pink/navy rugby is available in some cdn stores, I had ordered online before it sold out but needed my smaller shirt size so I was happy to find in store rather than wait til Dec. I think the quality is good, the cotton is soft and substantial. Plus I'm a sucker for stripes. :)
DeleteI saw the pink rugby in all sizes in store yesterday... (347 Madison ave NYC) no store promo at all.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think they've had some but they took them off the web site during the promotion so we couldn't buy at a discount. Promo over, and they're back. I wonder if they pulled them from the store shelves during the promo. But I don't understand why they're back ordered until December on the web site, if you guys are seeing full size runs in stores. Strange!
DeleteI received the white ruffle shirt and the cotton is great. I find the ruffles too young for me, especially on the back. As cute as the ladies on Instagram look in the shirt, when I look at a profile in the mirror, they look silly on me.
ReplyDeleteKate Spade got my money today so here is the jcrew code I got. Sounds like you might get a better deal by talking to customer service but here it is in case someone wants it: SSCER6F5W. Please let us know if you use it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I used the code.
DeleteI went into JCrew to make a return and I saw this crewcuts sweater...and yeah, I'm tots getting it for me! Never been so happy kids sizes go all the way up to 12-14. I have no shame.
ReplyDeleteBoys' Max the Monster cotton crewneck sweater
But it's excluded from promos which is...wtf. I didn't even know they did that for crewcuts.
Delete
