This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
Not a j crew item but I'm looking at a tulle skirt (from garnet hill). Will I look ridiculous wearing such a skirt to work? How do I tone down any feeling of a costume? I'll also be 7-8 months pregnant so I also don't want to look like I'm headed to a photo shoot. I like the darker gray color with my light pink j crew lace up flats but wondering what to wear up top. A leather jacket and t shirt?
ReplyDeleteoh,no. forgive me, i too suffered (every time!) from mid-pregnancy fashion whimsies and fantasies so i recognize the wish for something light and airy.... please save your money for a post-pregnancy indulgence. ❤️ that skirt is the equivalent of gramma's yen for pickles and ice cream.
DeleteI can't imagine how a tulle skirt will work while so pregnant. I haven't seen it but I can't visualize a baby bump in tulle.
DeleteJust the intervention I needed. Thanks ladies. And better use of my money? The Kate Spade jardin cardigan which just hit sale and will go with a ton both now and after baby.
DeleteI drank the crewlade. Ordered a few items FS and well, tsk, tsk, tsk. Shame on me. I thought thechambray OTS would work but I need the tall. It's manageable and would be the only OTS I have, but it feels a little short. Additional items and pics on IG @wearthislikethis.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the long spaghetti strap gingham dress yesterday in a couple sizes. It wasn't final sale and I wanted to try it. I don't wear much gingham but I like the look of the dress. I was thinking about it for a wedding I'm attending on Labor Day weekend. Do you think that would be appropriate or will it be too late to wear it? I live in the south so it will still be plenty hot!!
ReplyDeleteThe blogger kellyinthecity (on iG) recently wore that dress to a wedding and looked stunning! I think it's a perfect guest outfit.
DeleteI agree! Very fresh!
DeleteI've shared my 'shop it for less' version of one of the Madewell Looks We Love on my blog today: Madewell Looks We Love... Shop It: The Real Deal or The Real Steal.
ReplyDeleteConsidering wearing the Porcelain Paisley Ella dress to a metro wedding. What do you ladies think?
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great choice -- clean lines, elegant, summery, understated.
DeleteThank you, shopgrrrl. I think I'll go with it.
