    1. I've been eyeing the afternoon dress, too. They raised the price $10(It's been $79.50). Still, it's a pretty good deal. I'm debating about which color to get, play it safe with navy or go bold with red.

    2. @maryeb i have the navy Anthem dress and worn it several times already.

    3. @InaMack Is the Anthem dress similar to the Afternoon dress? I'm trying to decide if I should order my usual size or one size down.

    4. Sorry @maryeb i meant the Afternoon dress. The Afternoon dress is TTS,i took my normal xs.HTH

    5. No problem. Thanks, Ina! I went ahead and ordered the dress in navy, in my usual size xs.
I also ordered the Shearweave Scarf (I could use a couple of neutral scarves to stave off the Summer AC) and the Pave Front-Back earrings. I've been wanting to try this style of earring for a while.

  2. I am thinking of making my first Madewell order with this promo. I picked up a Madewell tee at a consignment store that I really like, so thinking of trying more. The tees seem to have a looser fit than than Vintage or perfect fits...does anyone have any fit advice, i.e., do you usually size down? Has anyone tried the Shorewalk pants, which seem like they may run too big for smaller sizes? Or Atlantic pants? And the Anthem tees...this style looks similar to the one I have, but there seems to be a lot of reviews saying the fabric doesn't hold up well, even to hand washing. I would appreciate any comments you all might have on these items, or just Madewell in general. Thanks!

    1. Hi Melanie. I reviewed the long-sleeve anthem tee in this post. The sizing on Madewell has varied in the past year, skewing larger size. I have taken XS in a few things, where in the past I was a M. They adopted the slouchy, baggy trend and have scaled it back a bit, but some things are still running larger.

I also have the garment dyed pocket tee (S), which is a little cropped. I'm 5'0" with a regular torso, so it doesn't feel ridiculously short on me.

When looking at items online I look for dropped shoulders and extra room under the arms. That's an indication that you might want to size down. I find the pants to fit tts. I take 29 in J. Crew and Madewell. I usually stick to the tops, sweaters and dresses. I usually choose S, which is the same size I usually am in J. Crew. HTH a bit :)

    2. I have the Anthem tank and it runs big. I would say size down.

    3. My striped Anthem tee from last year did not wash up well (white with cobalt blue stripes). It's not awful, but definitely not one of my favorite tees. The neckline isn't looking great. The material is on the thin side.

I do like their v-neck pocket tees. I haven't bought one this year, but I have several from the last couple of years. They probably haven't changed it.

Madewell in general: My jean size is about the same as at J. Crew. T-shirts are usually TTS. When the cut is something very boxy like the Courier shirt, the fit may not be TTS (you could possibly size down). I'm turned off by all the cropped top styles this year. Their winter wool or wool blend sweaters can pill like crazy, depending on the item.

    4. Thank you all so much for this information!

    5. Sizing has been a source of constant confusion. I'm generally a 4 (5'9" and around 116 lbs) but at Madewell, I can only take XS or 2 in dresses. This season, I started buying S again, because a lot of stuff is more cropped or smaller now. With both Madewell and J.Crew pants, I can take a 26 or 27, depending on the style. If it's a high rise, then I always go with the smaller size. Unfortunately, I think both stores subscribe to vanity sizing, which causes a lot of confusion.

    6. Madewell is my go-to! Generally speaking, unless you read differently in reviews, it's best to size down one size in a lot of their clothing, especially dresses. Their jeans are amazing for the most part. Also, the leather bags are great and the sandals are often very comfy. If you go to one of their stores, you'll see cute accessories that are not always available online-- things like soaps or makeup bags or jewelry that is on sale by the cash registers. I love Madewell and have been buying more from them then J.Crew in the last couple years.

  3. I'm really tempted by a few items. Has anyone tried the Stockton culottes? There are some jeans I will try that aren't final sale and a few other tops that are, along with these pants that are.

  4. I was waiting for a sale on sale. I bit on the mirasol fringed jumpsuit (slowly reaching world domination-level in black jumpsuits, but I love them and wear them often). I also bit on a WHIT top. I adore WHIT, but the stuff is usually so pricey. Being able to get something on sale + sale is always great.

  5. I called for measurements and did bite as well. A few of the items I was interested in last week were gone, but I ended up ordering:
Belfast tank in black--love the shape of this for summer
Stockton culottes in black--my patio in cotton don't thrill me (I haven't worn them) so I'm hoping these have a bit more of an exaggerated flare.
Rivet and thread button front boy jean. This is a splurge but not final sale. In my constant quest for the perfect jean.
Cruiser straight jeans in two sizes. See above.
Catarina cover up tunic in totem stripe. Great colors and I think I could even wear this as a top over cut offs.
Modern linen tank in black and heather slate-- I really like the higher neckline. I have a few vintage cotton tanks from Jcrew but the Neckline is a little low for me.
I'm excited. These are all good basics.
I was tempted by the lace up gladiators but concerned about final sale.

    1. Those button front jeans are tempting, but I don't think I can pull off the 11.5" rise. I measured, and that would put the waistband on my ribcage! Hope they work out for you -- they look great.

    2. They might be hideous! But at least I can try them without final sale! I have a long torso so they should just about hit my belly button.

    3. Oh, also ordered some linen pull on shorts that look like a great denim cut off alternative.

    4. Suz Has, their linen shorts (cotton/linen?) are nice (much cooler than denim cutoffs on a hot day!), but be careful about the dryer. I shrunk mine pretty badly. I re-washed and shook them out and hung them to dry and they seem fine again, though.

    5. I've actually been hand washing all of that stuff, believe it or not. Or washing on delicate and not drying.

    6. Reviews: belfast tank in black--very lightweight, With a "bra lette" as the kids call them, will be fine. I like the shape and weight, as other reviewers on the site posted, it's a little shorter than I thought but to do a little tuck will actually be perfect. This is the type of shirt I'd get in multiple patterns/colors. So great for summer.

Stockton culottes in black--great swingy shape. Got the 0 and they fit a little loose, kind of like the 0 in the Gazebo pants. They didn't come in 00 but that would have been too tight anyway. Length is just above the ankle on me, which is perfect. The pockets show through the fabric kind of funny but I can try to steam them flat. They're a little heavier than I thought but not as heavy as a crepe. The shape is very flattering. Flat front trouser style but wide leg. I like them.

Rivet and thread button front boy jean. These fit well but will stretch a bit since they're all cotton. The rise is high but not unflattering. I feel like the ankle should be a little more tapered to be perfect but I'll try them with different shoes. I got my usual jcrew jean size, 25.

Cruiser straight jeans in two sizes, 25 and 26. The fit of these is similar to the Point sur jeans in Orran wash, but a slighter lighter weight denim. My regular size fits just perfectly but they will stretch. They're cute and half the price of the rivet and thread button front, without the fun detail of the buttons in a lighter weight denim. I feel like the length and cut of the ankle isn't necessarily ideal for me but otherwise
They're really nice and well proportioned. Again I'll try them with different shoes. I like that they're all cotton.

Catarina cover up tunic in totem stripe. I got XS and actually could have sized up for a looser slouchy fit. From the online pics I thought the fabric would have more texture, it's a screen print (or similar). I think it's fine for a cover up and will also look cute slightly tucked into denim cut offs. Probably if I saw this in person I might not have gotten it, but it's actually cute, just a little more boho than my usual.

Modern linen tank in black and heather slate-- love these. Hope they wash well, I'll probably wash on delicate or hand wash. This is the type of tank I'd buy 3 in each color.

Linen pull on shorts, these are super comfy, with a fit like jogging shorts but a nicer fabric. Jcrew had a bunch of similar ones last year. I don't necessarily think they are the most stylish or fashionable shorts but easy to wear with sandals or cute sneakers.

      Overall pretty successful.

  6. It appears the promo is not working on the forward-seam slub tank, I have tried several times applying to code, and it is not working, may need to call CS as it does state it is extra 30% off.

    1. It doesn't look like the Forward-seam tank is included in this promo to me. Please let me know if you find out differently.

    2. Sorry for the late response, it seems like it was an error because later in the afternoon I looked at it again the promo was removed, no longer there, had I called CS at the time they were showing it, they would of have to had honor the promo, oh well.

    3. Anna Maria, I actually saw that too! I tried the promo but it didn't work for me either. I didn't bother with calling so I must have not wanted it too bad :-P

  7. Ugh, I am so annoyed with myself. I've checked the site after midnight ET every night for at least two weeks waiting for a good sale-on-sale promo, and of course I forgot to check last night. The item I was going to buy went up $25 overnight so now I'm not going to buy it. x_x I've been waiting to buy it for what seems like forever!

  8. Madewell killed with this sale, so glad I got a few things! Hope they all fit!

  9. A "packable" straw hat - yes please!

  10. It's a very limited array of stuff and a lot of it is final sale. Not really impressed, especially with their super slow delivery lately.

  11. I always love it when Madewell offers an extra % off! They are definitely one of my go-to retailers, and there is always lots on my wishlist, too. I was able to get a PA on my Ollie pants, and I also placed two additional orders with the extra 30% off. I'm giving the Wide-Leg Jeans in Shea Wash a try, and also finally decided to pull the trigger on the Coverall Zip Jumpsuit that I've been obsessing about forever now...hopefully they'll both work out well for me! :)

  12. I just reviewed the Madewell Thea sandal in the review thread. Thought I'd copy the post here. I got my usual size in black and they fit great. I haven't worn them long, but they feel very comfortable. It looks like they are included in the %off sale in all the colors that are still available.

  13. Madewell does the pricing game too. I wanted the Boardwalk lace up sandal and noticed they were reduced and then 30% off but final sale. Shoe sizing has been so inconsistent, I knew I saw them in my store. They're no longer on sale or reduced. Sigh. At least I know my size when they put them back on sale. ;(

  14. honestly surprised the extra-sale-on-sale promo isn't going through the weekend. wonder if they have a new promotion starting tomorrow through memorial day on monday? maybe some percentage off your whole purchase? I wouldn't complain about that.

    1. honestly kind of disappointed the percentage off sale got downgraded, but some of the promo items did drop to a lower price. it all evens out, I guess!
