  1. I ordered the Regent topcoat in the camel color using the LAYERUP promo instead since it was 30%. It's back ordered on Nov 3. Then I placed another order of the Tippi in leopard using the SALETREAT promo. Thank goodness for free shipping! These are the two I really wanted to try/buy from this roll-out. The flannels I would have to see in IRL.

Lots of pretty coats that came in pretty colors. I'm bummed that some items weren't offered in petite; the double cloth Belted Trench, the belted Collection A-line skirt, some pants like the culottes, Parkas...
Has anyone checked seen the Collection pieces? Pretty cute stuff!
The shoes-some pumps are nice, though I can't wear it. Not impressed with the flats from this roll-out.

    2. Agree about the Belted Trench and the culottes. Would love to have tried these, if they were offered in petite. Same with some of the other cropped pant looks. Maybe they aren't offered in petite because they don't think they'd look good on those of us who are shorter.

    3. Not much love for us petite gals. :-)
I think I will try those wool serge culottes. Sometime next month I will order the camel color. Hopefully the length won't be too bad that it falls at my ankles.

    4. I agree, my order while large would have probably been twice as large if petite sizes were offered for all the lovely coats!

  2. I'm cautiously optimistic that JC is picking up. LOVE the pants in all the vivid colors (not that I'm ordering any until I lose 10 pounds, ha). Also love the double cloth trench (and will be holding out for a 30% code on it). Some of the shoes and prints are pretty, but still so over priced.

    1. I'd like to see them do something different w the jewelry....it's all so busy. And that's a ridiculous amount of new swimwear to be rolling out in October! Then all the random "home" items like speakers and water bottles.....hmm, this is where JC needs to stay in their lane and focus on what they're good at.....adding in all the collaboration stuff (which none of it feels very special) is distracting from their brand IMO.

  4. Will be heading to the store this afternoon....I really like that Tippi sweater in lemon zest, it has been around since Aug and still not on clearance....One concern with Tippi is that when I try it on I see that you can see the shape of the bra easily through it....I don't love that. They also run so tight in the body so I need to go up a size.

  5. I’m really liking the “Looks We Love” this time around, probably because I already own a lot of similar pieces. I always like to see true red as opposed to "modern red”. Love the look of the red Collins loafers in the Collection images, but why does the stitching look so cheap and crappy in the item pics? Boo!

The only piece I really wanted to grab was the navy/red flannel windowpane button-down, but I don't see it online. Is this an in-store only item?

Madewell’s also got new arrivals today, including a convertible cashmere turtleneck where the turtleneck part buttons off (what?!) that I’m intrigued by.

  6. Not all that excited about this roll out. Many of the same sweaters...just in new colors. A lot of flannels. Was hoping for a few holiday-ish tartan plaid shirts but I am only spotting one in the Thomas Mason line, will wait for a sale on that. I see that the reviews have all disappeared as well this morning which is suspect. The outerwear color offerings are nice though. Really like the look of the Cocoon and Chateau Parka coats. Not sure if I will be biting on anything though.

  7. I love the Faux Leather Midi Skirt in spiced raisin, though I'm not sure I would have a lot of opportunities to wear it. Also loving the Campbell blazer in blue herringbone - I've spent too much on fall clothes already so I need to take a break, but I will be crossing my fingers hard that it goes on sale or becomes promotion-eligible. The color is gorgeous!

    1. Lili316, I love the Campbell blazer in herringbone too! The color is beautiful. I am perplexed about the fabric content though. The website says that it is poly. Can anyone confirm whether that is correct? For the price ($299.00 Canadian) I would have expected that it would be wool.

      Delete
    2. Lili316 and Shima Maceo--I love the Campbell blazer in the blue herringbone, too, and I just called JC and they confirmed that it is 100% polyester. What??! I didn't even know you could get polyester to look like wool! LOL I wonder what it feels like? The Regent blazer in plaid is also poly, but is $248 vs. the Campbell which is $228. How can they be the same prices as the wool blazers? :P

      Delete
    3. Hi Lili316 and Shima Maceo, I saw this blazer in the store yesterday and it is NOT 100% poly, thankfully -- that only applies to the lining. I noticed that the description for this item, both on the website, as well as the Style Guide lists it as simply 'Poly'. I emailed customer service & received the following friendly response:

The Campbell Blazer is 100% wool. The poly does apply to the lining. I think it's a great suggestion to clarify these types on our merchandise. I'll gladly share your feedback with my team.

So I hope they change that because it is quite confusing & not doing them any favors. (I also wanted to note that the color appears more blue-green than simply 'blue' as the title suggest, in my humble opinion.)

  8. I have to say I'm loving this roll out. I had dog-eared several pages in the Style Guide and then added even more items to my wish list once I browsed the online new arrivals. I ordered the culottes already and am contemplating that leopard Tippi, the regent top coat in dusty cedar, and a few other items.

Not feeling the jewelry to be honest. I'm over the big, garish styles and have been transitioning to more minimalist, higher quality pieces lately.

Overall, I feel optimistic! The only question that remains is the quality and fit...

    1. I'm kind of meh too. I was hoping to be wowed by new dresses. I'm still wondering about the patio pants. I have skinny calves so I don't think they'll look good--does anyone really like these?

    2. I love the patio pants, I have them in both the cotton and the wool. I'm a small waisted pear shape, and for whatever reason the shape really works on me, if I keep my top rather fitted.

    3. I got my Style Guide last night and even though I like where J Crew has returned to this rollout, nothing I must have. Like Miss JR said, lots of what I already have and so only provided me with new styling tips. In seeing the Leopard Shirt and Tippi, make a comeback. I pulled out my old Leopard Tippi and ordered a Perfect Shirt in Leopard (Golden Hickory) from E-Bay for $20.

      Delete
  10. I ordered the crossover v-neck sweatshirt (E3203), the collins tortoise loafers (E5046) and a Tippi in academic green.

I really liked but did not order the Double-cloth long peacoat (E4735), the Collection 2-in-1 dress (E3185), and the Roxie leopard satin t-strap pumps (b4904). I own two majesty coats (old style) that I have yet to wear (and I’m slightly annoyed that the promo doesn’t apply), the dress gives me deja vu from something I purchased and returned last year, and I worry that satin shoes will get destroyed in relatively few wears.

I agree with all the comments that many of these items are similar to those we’ve seen previously. It definitely signals a return to J.Crew of yesteryear. But I’m curious to see whether and how this move will translate into sales. I like many of the items, but won’t buy them because I own something similar.

@Violet - I agree with you on the jewelry. I don’t need another “statement” necklace and want pieces with a more minimalist look.

  11. I'm happy that there is finally a nice, saturated red instead of that ugly washed-out color they've been calling "red" for the past few seasons, or that exceedingly bright, almost neon red.

  12. Can anyone comment on the new Tippis? I have read reviews that they run small (I wear a Small in the old Tippis..should I size up to a Medium?), and that they are somewhat sheer. I am digging some of the new colors but nervous to order. TIA! Nicole

    1. I took the same size! I tried on the size up but it was way too big. Stick to small

    2. They don't seem too sheer just so fitted you can see the outline of your bra...Also you can take your normal size if you are fine with a very tight and fitted body of the sweater...

  13. I ordered the red merino sweater dress. It might be too long, but worth a try as the style is generally very flattering. I also bit at the crazy fun Collection Mohair Sweater Dress, Not something I need, but I am so intrigued that I had to order. Even the VPS was curious about the length which reads 42" which on my 5'5" frame hits mid-knee. It may well be a try-on and return the next day item...but thought I'd regret it if I didn't at least give it a try.
I agree with all of you regarding the jewelry-too much. Love the colored trousers too-but will wait until I can try in store as I don't really need them.

    1. Julie me too on the red merino sweater dress, I went insane when I saw that and I ordered both colours. If that is a win it's something I could wear all winter. Crossing fingers the fit is good!
Love the mohair dress, please let us know how it fits.

    2. Dani-I had a hard time deciding on which color for the merino dress. I have high hopes for it as I can see styling it with a blouse underneath or a cardigan or blazer on top. It is finally beginning to cool off here so sweater weather is within reach. The Mohair dress looks very high end and couture to me-but I have serious doubts...Can't wait to see how they work.

    3. That sweater dress is beautiful; I'm so tempted to get it!

      Delete
    4. Love the look of the sweater dress - the best thing in the rollout IMO. I'm a little worried that the V neck will be too low for me - I'm rather big on top. Looking forward to reviews!

      Delete
    5. My merino sweater dresses arrived (I ordered both colours to try) and while the wool is lovely and the fit very feminine they do run very low in the front. I am not large on top, a 32B, but these dresses showed lots of cleavage on me and even the top edge of my bra. I wanted to add them to my closet as an option to wear to my conservative volunteer job but this is not an option. Even with a scarf it's still pretty clear that there is a very low neck with lots of skin showing. I found the red to be quite a pink-red, a bit bright on my skintone. The green is a classic dark green.
The leopard Tippi is the one item I'm keeping from my order, it looks amazing with black, I love the fit, slimmer through the body and a bit longer. It's beautiful.

      Delete
    6. Dani, I had a feeling based on the website pics that the v-neck on the merino dress would be too low. It's this kind of thing that confuses me about J. Crew. What is this dress for? The low v-neck implies party or cocktail, but I don't normally wear merino cocktail dresses. They make suiting dresses with slits that are too high, skirts with beads on them that must make it impossible to sit down and every day dresses that expose too much cleavage. I don't get them. I don't believe they think about who is going to wear these garments they're designing. They're like magpies. If it's pretty and shiny they like it, practicality be damned.

      Delete
    7. I agree, Desert Flower, I loved the look of the dress but the model is small chested and it was very low on her. If they had made this dress with a realistic neckline it would be a hit for winter. I have no idea who they design some of these items for.

      Delete
    8. DaniBP -might you be able to save the merino sweater dresses by wearing a Uniqlo Airism Tank or Hanro tank underneath-these are luxurious, weightless and seamless.

      Delete
    9. Yippee that's a good idea, thank you. That would add some warmth too. The other thing about these dresses is the sleeve, on me it was a longer short sleeve if that makes sense, so in real winter it wouldn't be warm enough. My cardigans didn't look quite right over them, it was kind of a sloppy layered look or something.
DF and JRS I agree I can't find a reason for this kind of dress, I have lots of party clothes, too many actually, and the low neckline really rules out so many day-time situations. I should have noted too that the dress came to just barely below my knee and on me it was kind of an awkward length (I'm 5'7"). That's going to depend on height of course but it didn't have the longer length I was expecting.
I'll look forward to other reviews, I'm curious to see if others can make it work. I did like the weight of the wool.

    10. I guess we just have to get lucky for ready to wear to work when perfect fit is imperative for style. If we do get lucky or are able to alter, it can be a joy.

  14. There are so many things I will be trying in this roll-out: the merino sweater dresses in green and red, the leopard Tippi, and the leopard silk blouse, love them all but fit will be key, especially with those dresses. JCrew certainly does itself a favour with a 25% discount on the day of a roll-out plus free shipping.
Loving all of the amazing colours in the coat section, so pretty.

    1. The leopard silk blouse arrived yesterday along with the other items I tried from this roll-out and it ran quite large on me in my regular size 2, if I ordered it again I'd have to size down. I liked the silk, nice texture, it seemed a good quality.

  17. I just ordered the cotton patio pants in the cabernet color (I've been eyeing it for a while, and the sale price is good) and the leopard tippi. I'm tempted by the merino sweater dress, it looks gorgeous in that green color.

  18. I'm reigning in the shopping this season with the hope of shopping more intentionally, but I did take a peek at the sweater selection. I really love all of the saturated colors available in classic silhouettes (turtleneck, v-neck merino, Tippi, etc.), so for me this is a bit of a return to the J.Crew classics. Quality is still in question, of course. I will be curious to see the reviews.

  19. I think my comment was eaten up- so sorry if it is a repeat...
I am so happy to see dark green sweater- merino! and the dress(merino) is lovely. I was also happy to click on 2 blouses and see that they were silk, not poly! The only item I was hoping for and didn't see was a sleeveless blouse (cotton or silk), to wear under those cardigans. And, the jewelry is closer, but still off the mark, imo.

  20. I agree there's some nice pieces to llike for the fall, but I only wishlisted the wool blend A-line midi skirt in the blue. Will wait for a promo to order. The suede capri/patio pants are cute, but as others have mentioned, I already have something similar in my closet. Zara did this look in 2012 & I picked up a pair in Barcelona. They still look great. I did order some sale finds for items I was interested in from previous rollouts. So, I picked up pixie tuxedo leather stripe pants (oldie but goodie), watercolor mosaic skirt & placed stripe shirt in navy & olive. My other sale purchases are on UPS truck today, so hope it's a happy mail day.

    6. Reporting from actual in store observation that the jacket is 100% Benjamin Moon wool. The lining is poly.
The styling is blazer and fitted, but the weight and initial stiffness of the wool make it seem almost like a piece of outwear. I would be confident that the tweed wool would soften with wear. The tweed is beautiful and the colors are soft, heathered and harmonious. I find the bright buttons to be a little jarring and would have preferred leather or shell buttons.

      Delete
    7. yippee--thanks so much for replying to this thread! Wow, I can't believe the CS person told me it was poly. I even asked if it was a poly blend and her exact words were, "No. It's 100% polyester." Clearly I wasn't asking about the lining. :P And I wonder why the website AND the catalog both say poly?? That's certainly not going to make people want to order! lol

    8. My pleasure to be of service. Perhaps this bodes well for a great sale price on this beautiful wool tweed blazer. I can understand an initial mistake that is reified until it becomes legend, but after several inquiries you would think someone might actually take moment to check the actual item. Even if customer service does not have direct access to touch and feel a garment, an agent could call a store and talk with a salesperson or manager who could have read the label on the clearly marked item.

  26. I also went by the local store today, mostly to return a few things. They were offering 30% off coats, loafers/oxfords, and tops. I saw the red and navy flannel shirt that some of us were wondering about. It is a nice, thick flannel! Their are some nice things but nothing really stands out if that makes sense. It's like some of you were saying how it seems like a lot of the same stuff, just more of it. Also, my store doesn't carry any collection pieces.

    1. I have the Campbell Blazer in Black and Navy. The wool flannel fabric is good, not great so I would get it on sale, which it is right now. They both have the cute piping and details in the lining. The Campbell is fitted, so I would consider going up a size if you're curvy.

  30. Can anyone comment on what the Academic Green looks like IRL? In some photos, like the merino V-neck, it looks like a true, deep green; in the photos of the sweater dress, it looks more like a very dark teal. My "style guide" hasn't arrived (shocked, shocked) so I don't have that to compare.

The trigger were the skinny stretch cargos in navy that went on sale (they were sold out yesterday so I couldn't get them with the free shipping but I knew they would pop back. I don't have a pair of navy cargos - shocker - and I really wanted these). Added the embellished striped perfect shirt that is $29.99 (I haven't tried it but saw it IRL and I know I like it) and the featherweight cashmere tee in Baltic blue, which I also saw IRL and is a great color with denim. Pffff! So much so for saving for big item tickets, although the only big item ticket I really wanted was the shearling topcoat but $1800 is really out of my reach and I have been told by my store that they only made one in each size so I don't think it is going to pop back in the sale section (I saw it IRL and it is gorgeous)

    1. Ema, may I ask what size you ordered in the stretch cargo pants? I have been wanting a navy pair for a long time. The reviews state the pants stretch out a lot so I'm wondering if I should size down?

    2. Hi Ema,
Similarly may I ask what size you ordered in the featherweight cashmere tee? I got measurements and the CS recommended I stick with my usual size XS but all reviews said size down. I am similar in size to you so I was hoping you might have some insight on this particular fit. TIA!

    3. Shopalot, sorry for the late reply, I didn't subscribe even if I thought I did. I ordered my usual size, the 26. I tried them in store in another color and they were skin tight so hopefully even if they stretch a bit they won't be baggy. HTH!

    4. ymous1975, I ordered the XS. I am never a XXS in cashmere sweaters so I didn't even question it. I will report back, although it is the only thing in my order that hasn't shipped...

    5. Thanks, Ema! Looks like my size is not available in navy; there is no way my thighs are fitting into a size 24! I'll have to wait for popbacks. Hope you will do a review on Instagram when your order arrives.

  35. Does anyone here have the collection metallic tweed sheath dress? (The one in a red/black/gold pattern.)

It is down to $150 on final sale, and after carefully checking the measurements, I decided to go for it, because I think it is just really a beautiful fabric and exactly my kind of thing.

But of course, final sale. Anyway, if anyone has it (or tried it on) and wants to let me know what they thought, I would love to hear. The one review that has a lower score mentions it being relatively smaller on top than on the bottom, which is good for me, because that my (pear) shape.

  36. Has anyone tried the pajama pants lately? I wondering if the vanity sizing has hit the sleepwear, or if I should order the same size I ordered in earlier years (say two and three years ago).

    Thx

  37. Anyone try the Turner Pant in Wool. Thoughts on sizing? Fabric?
I'm also curious about styling ideas. They look great with heels, but heels aren't practical for Winter here. I'm wondering if boots would look odd. TIA.

    1. I'd like to try these pants, but would like to hear some reviews, too. They probably aren't great for winter because I think you have to have some ankle showing for them to work. They are too loose in the leg to look right tucked into boots. The only boot I would do is a low bootie that still showed some skin. Pointy flats or loafers (like the new Collins loafer) would look cute, too. I'd also dress them down with sneakers (like the New Balance J Crew has carried in the past or Vans). I hope they have a great fit b/c they could be really cute! Let us know if you try them! :)

    2. I have a version of these pants from a year or two ago, and I've worn them with New Balance sneakers (for when my ankles can handle the cold) and high top leather Converse sneakers (for when my ankles can't handle the cold).

  38. I like this rollout for the colors (true reds, lovely greens etc) and really like the double cloth belted trench, dulci heels in the wine color, merino sweater dress and full length wool pants. Not sure what I'll actually buy as I don't really need more fall clothes and I've bought a number of items from the last rollouts already. I was happy to see a red wool pencil skirt although I really don't need anymore pencil skirts. :)

  39. I will admit that it's been a long time since I've even looked at the J.Crew website due to quality, design, and fit issues. However, I decided to have a peek after catching a glimpse of the Tippi Leopard sweater on feedly (I sold my original one a few years ago during a closet purge and have regretted it ever since), and actually found numerous items that I'm interested in this time around. I've shared my personal picks for the new arrivals in this post for those who might want to stop by and take a peek. :)
