Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. This is OT but surprising it happened so fast - Marissa Webb Out as Creative Director at Banana Republic http://fashionista.com/2015/10/marissa-webb-out-banana-republic

    1. Interesting...sales at BR didn't improve with Marissa on board. Maybe she's not the right fit for BR. Too edgy? BR tried to rebrand it's label, and it didn't work.

    2. I'm sorry to see her step back -- I liked her fresh, more modern designs and styling. That said, I still wasn't buying much from BR the past few years because the fabrics have been such poor quality. It'll be interesting to see what happens at (with?) BR and Gap.

    3. I went to BR yesterday for probably the first time all year. Liked the style of quite a few pieces but didn't like the fabric content. There were racks of brand new sweaters that the SA was putting out that were already shedding/pilling. I think that quality is the elephant in the room - every retailer is trying to find a way around having to address it, but all of the creative directors, ad campaigns, and rebrands in the world aren't going to help if customers feel like they're throwing their money away.

    4. I'm a Banana Republic Luxe cardholder and have spent a ton of money there for years. I haven't bought much of anything lately due to the poor quality and styles that are not suitable for me personally. Was told they are no longer carrying the Martin wool pants in store - online only. BR was my go-to place (along with J Crew) for work clothes. Every pair of pants in my local BR were cropped or skin-tight legging styles. I cannot and do not want to wear short or tight pants to work. Cropped pants don't exactly work with snow boots. I'm sure I'm not the only one fed up with the lack of work clothing options from ALL retailers.

    5. Hmm. :She's not leaving Banana Republic entirely, though: Rather, she's transitioning into a "creative adviser" role that won't involve all of the day-to-day responsibilities she had as creative director. " I bet we see a scaled back version of her influence. I've liked a lot of the stuff at BR lately but haven't bought much as it doesn't fit my needs. Like most of you, I need good quality work wear and a few cute weekend outfits - I felt like 85% of BR's offerings were in the weekend category.

    6. The quality and fit at BR is definitely the biggest issue for me right now (as it is with J.Crew) but the designs were definitely a huge miss as well. The last few times I went into my local store I left without buying or wanting anything.

      I miss pretty, feminine clothing.

    7. Agree with all of you re) BR's quality issues, as well as the fit issues. I, too, am a Luxe and this year, I've only bought 5 items (my husband really likes their button-downs and jeans). BR used to be my go-to for office-wear, but I feel like many of their tops have a boxier, roomier fit that seems OK for the weekend, but not for the office. I think they've also resorted to vanity sizing b/c I've magically gone from a Medium to an XS in their stuff, which is ridiculous. I am short so cropped anything doesn't work for me and that's all they seem to offer.

    8. I love the new direction at Banana Republic. It's bold and the fall collection is cohesive. I agree w/the problems about fabric content and suspect quality. My major problems were a) the oversized cuts and b) where am I wearing these clothes? I need traditional, professional office attire most of all. Ann Taylor and Macy's have been solid for me in that regard.

  2. OT: The Excursion Vest is sitting in the sale section priced at $110 w/ 40% off. If you click on it it says it's out of stock or changes to $120 w/ 30% off. However, if you call J.Crew will honor the better price since it's pretty visible on the sale page.

  3. Going today to make a return and exchange:

The Icon Trench in P2. Happy about the quality of the trench. Nicely made. Petite sizing runs small. I couldn't button the chest. Like what reviewers posted on the J.Crew site, the shoulders are narrow. Tight. I don't have broad shoulders or muscular arms, and it was tight on me as well. Will be exchanging it for a P4. The sleeve length is perfect, it ends at my wrist.

The Stripe Boatneck T-Shirt in XS. It fits TTS. But I prefer this to be a little loose on me, will exchange it for an S. I like the quality of the cotton, as its not the 'sweater' knit, like the Deck Stripe.

  4. OT - does anyone own Everlane cashmere sweaters? How is it like? And is the quality good? I like JCrews boyfriend vneck but recent reviews aren't so good. Quality declining (not surprised). And it's pricey. Everlane is half the price, and I love what the company stands for with transparency.

    I'm also eyeing their loafers.

    1. I have the slouchy v-neck from last year. Nice & thick. Wore it all last winter & it held up beautifully, no pilling or stretching. Just ordered another color! Everlane fit in general is relaxed. I'm an xxs or p00 at JC, and Everlane xs works fine for me. HTH!

    2. I have the round neck from last year. Like Cobalt, I am pleased with the quality and I took an XS, I am a small to XS at J Crew.

    3. Thanks Cobalt and JRSConifer!

Thinking of buying a cashmere vneck top, the dress, loafers, and the Chelsea boots launching on the 20th (offered in four colors).

I find it ridiculous that some J.Crew boots are priced so high. It's not even made in Italy!

    4. I have two pairs of Everlane loafers (last year's style), and love them. I went up a half size in my second pair, which was the right call for me. I had my first pair stretched and my cobbler commented on what nice shoes they are. thumbs way up.

    5. Thanks rcb! I know the loafer runs narrow, and my feet are slightly wide, so sizing up to a 6 would be good. Planning on ordering both sizes 5.5 and 6 to see how the fit is.
