  1. exciting news - the 2015 silver leather datebook, item 65265, has popped back. It's marked down to $22.99, which with 40% off, is still - oh, please.

    1. :) Should be free with purchase - like maybe 8 months ago?

    2. Excellent, price is coming down! I think I'll wait it out another month or so and see if the price goes lower.

    3. GReat idea to stock up on them for gag gifts!

    4. They will make great stocking stuffers!

  2. Bouncing (regular) prices - the polka-dot Tippi (e2162) went from $118 to $98 (as their regular price, not promo) and back up to $118 again. Why?

    1. That's nuts! They're both cute sweaters, but the white especially needs a cami underneath as its so sheer, IMO. (The $98 price makes more sense, as it's different than the regular Tippis; this seems to make sense for the Lace detail ones.) I think someone on here recently mentioned the same thing happening with the pricing of the Lady day coat.

  3. Oh my goodness. I saw they had lowered the price, so I thought they realized that was a more fair price. I was actually impressed. I can't believe they have the b@lls to do that. I'd love to hear their justification.

  5. As I mentioned in another post, my Fresh Parsley Jackie cardi did not make it through the first hand washing. Lost a button and the ribbed trim is stretched and distorted. Not even close to the quality of Jackies from prior years.

I'm trying to deal with the fact that this is the new normal at J. crew but between the out gassing smells and poor construction I do feel like I'm shopping at F21. It's most depressing to me when they recreate an old style and call it the same name - had the same issue w Matchsticks and the Majesty Peacoat. They are not the same garments and I hate purchasing disposable clothing.

    1. Ruffles, take the Jackie back (or send it back). Email Mr. Drexler and tell him your experience. That's completely unacceptable. I have a ten dollar Merona cardigan from Target that have lasted years!

    2. That is just awful - was it the new merino jackie? I would send it back for sure - J. crew needs to realize all their poor quality clothing is not a good business move.

    3. After I read your post I went to check out the reviews and every single one reported button problems, that's nuts. Considering how long they have made the cotton Jackie it's pretty obvious the buttons or construction or something related to the manufacturing changed. My black Jackie from 2011 still looks great and washes well, all original buttons too.

    4. Wondering how much longer Mickey can survive all this....

    5. Thanks for the comments, ladies. It is the new cotton Jackie and I think I will take it back and complain.

I can't take too many more of these disappointments ...

    6. oh nooooooo! I have a new cotton jackie that I haven't washed yet. wah! As soon as I received it though it was so obvious from the hand-feel that it was not as substantial as my old jackies, and the material did not lay as well. And, echoing what others have said here, I have old ones (one from 2005!) that are in amazing shape. If anyone from Jcrew is reading this, I volunteer to mail you this 10 year old jackie for examination (and hopefully replication). But I will need it back. :)

  6. didn't take long for the crosley bags to end up in sale section. when will they start making better purses again ?

    1. the new bennett is in the sale section as well....is the like 2-3 weeks old?

    2. It looks like the Crosley is on promo, not "final sale."

It only has one review, but its a five-star review.

And only one "summer" color of the Bennett is on sale. The Bennett also has two five-star reviews.

Both of these look like pretty nice purses. I actually put the Bennett in the red on my wishlist.

    3. I did notice that the merino sweater with the sequin patches on the arms is already on sale in the store. At least in the grey color way. $89.99 - 30%

  7. Looks like Discover Card no longer offers 5% cash back for online Madewell purchases. The 5% for JC and JC Factory are still in effect. Gap family now yields 10% -- which I think is actually a better deal than what you get with a Gap/BR card.

  8. Not a vent. The jeweled striped T-shirt that was $85.00 went on sale for $49.99 this morning less 40% off with J.Crew card. I snagged it up. The reviews are good and I love all the different colors of jewels. I think it will look great under a blazer. My only concern is how the "girls" will look with those rows of jewels going across. Hope they hit in all the right places.

  9. Someone may have already pointed this out (WFF?) but I thought I'd share. As I was contemplating whether it's cool enough to wear my new cape jacket, I looked at it again online and noticed this: "A classic cape in Italian wool melton with a covered placard." PLACARD? How do copywriters who work in the garment industry not know the difference between a placard and a placket? I don't think being from Space is an excuse here.

    1. That's hilarious! I have the cape jacket too and I didn't notice the wacko copywriting!

Quality control is suffering in ALL departments, apparently ...

    2. I noticed it, but didn't post, because I'm not finding this kind of thing as amusing as I once did. I get the feeling they're not even trying, and the loss of energy seems to pervade the entire company. The few "keepers" I'qve bought this year seem to have been produced by accident.

Anyway, Hexicon, if there are demonstrations for any reason while you're in NY, you and your handy placard will be ready to let your opinions be known,

  10. I've stopped buying J.Crew t-shirts because every single one (and I've had many over the years) develops a hole, or many holes, near the waist after one or two washings. My other issue with J.Crew is the jean fit is all over the place. I wear a size 31 and depending on the style, I can't even pull them past my thighs or else I'm swimming in them.

    1. I've given up on J. Crew jeans. I don't know what size to order, I'm tired of the order/return cycle, and the store doesn't carry very many options to try on there. Plus, options are high-rise skinnies or boyfriend jeans.

I'm glad they're offering the Matchstick again (even if they aren't the same as the old version), but those are just a less intense version of the Toothpicks. I am not shaped like a Matchstick or a Toothpick. The names of these jeans embody the problems at J. Crew. They're mostly designing for a straight up-and-down shape. I think they should offer denim options that will flatter different body types.

    2. I'm also size 31, and I don't even try on JC jeans as they all seem too skinny and/or low rise to me. It's not that I want 80s high-waisted, but I don't have a flat stomach and need true mid-rise to be comfortable. I absoluteley love my new Resolution High Rise True Skinny jeans from Gap. I NEVER thought I'd be buying skinny jeans (straight is good for me), but after I bought a gorgeous pair of moto-style boots I needed some skinnier jeans to show them off. The Resolution denim is a great weight, it holds me in around the tummy, and doesn't lose it's shape even after a few days of wear. The higher waist stays put when I'm seated, so I don't need to hitch up my pants every time I stand up. At 40% off, these were a steal and I'm considering another pair in a different wash.

    3. Agreed! I am a curvy 29 and have never found a pair of J Crew's jeans that fit properly - all are cut for their ideal slim-straight customer. I wear LOFT, AEO, BR or Second Yoga jeans instead, in a variety of styles from skinny to flare, and can highly recommend all of those brands to anyone looking.

    4. good to know as I am a 32 with hips and but a plenty so I guess I should probably just give up trying, lol

  11. Just a comment. Factory now has its own version of the exploded floral sweat shirt (e4134). For other replays, how about the Cord trim blouse (e4501) and metallic roses collector tee in airy cotton (e4138)?

  12. I've long been a follower + so enjoy the community here. This is my first comment...of course in the vent section. Was going to place an order late last night (sale items of course because, well...we all know not items aren't full price quality anymore), didn't get it so went to place an order today. All of sudden, they are all FINAL sale and weren't last night. Why, why, why??

    1. Greetings Unknown . . . It's a pattern where if an item is marked to sale ending in .99, it's often NOT final sale that first day, but will move to final sale for the next day. If you're not sure, best to grab it on Day 1 when it first goes on sale.

    2. I placed an order today about mid morning and the sale item I bought was not marked FS. I have checked again this evening and it's been marked FS. Strange.

    3. I never picked up on that pattern - thank you Jennifer!

  13. Borderfree to Canada has been a terrible experience. Sent back an item for a refund of $78. However there was a 30% ($25) restocking fee! This is not mentioned anywhere in the J Crew return policy. Not cool J Crew.

  14. Why are there no sweater options for tall women?
