Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Looks they are running free shipping on all orders today in addition to the 30% off $125. There are three asterisks next to the promo which probably means there are some exclusions.

    1. What's the point of that free ship on any order, if you still need over +125 to get that extra 30% off. This sale sucks.

    2. Agree.. This sale sucks. It's hard to buy anything after 75% sale. Will wait for better promo.
My store has 40% off sale, but slim pickings. I hardly ever buy anything at the store.

  3. I did pick up a pair of vintage scarf print pants at the store in Cincinnati. I really like the colors and I think they will be great for transition to fall. I liked the print when it came out but had not seen the pants in person. They were on sale of course.

  4. Lands End got my $ this weekend. I'm thrilled w the real-life, last-more-than-one-wear fall styles there. After mulling over the Rhodes in Belgian Chocolate, I decided to return it. Beautiful color but it's not perfect and I'm only keeping perfect from now on. Definitely keeping the cape.

  5. I visited to make a few returns and try on the fringe sweater. I wanted to love the sweater, but the weight/texture of the wool felt odd somehow, and I was nervous about how the fringe would hold up. I'm surprised this sweater has zero reviews online-I guess no one has felt strongly enough one way or the other to review it yet. I hadn't realized the embellished gray Tippi had gone on sale; I liked it a lot, and purchased it. No one mentioned the 30% off promo in-store, but sale items were 40% off, and many items had signs promoting those items (I.e. Sweaters) as 30% off. My store had surprisingly been fitted with a small crewcuts section, which has left them only a couple racks for women's sale items.

Highlight of my trip-a sweet SA gave me the Oct catalog. I love the featuring of past models (💗 Lauren Hutton, esp), and the old-school JC feel of this catalog. Not a lot of must-haves for me, but as some have said, I feel things are trending in the right direction.

    3. I don't understand why they keep such a tight lid on the upcoming style guide at some (most?) stores. Or why they're so reluctant to load Pinterest with the style guide. Let the customers get interested/excited. I suppose people might try to order items from the catalog before they are available to order, maybe that's why they do it? I've gotten style guides a bit early before, though, and it's never been a problem. Customers can understand that items aren't available until the 18th (or whenever). Look at how Apple products are handled. There is a lot of hype for the products before the products are available. J. Crew clothes aren't exactly an Apple Watch, but same idea, I think.

    4. Hahaha, unknown. What a rebel, that sale rep.

    5. Hi Wendy - I felt the fringe sweater in store and agree that it had a weird, "springy" feeling...like spandex? I didn't think to check the tag but it didn't feel like 100% merino to me.

I also think that keeping the style guide under wraps is kind of silly... the hype gets expectations high and (for the most part) the clothes have not been able to deliver. I agree with cate - put the guide out and let people get excited. I liked being able to see the IDLF preview at Uniqlo's site because I could check fabrics and prices and figure out what I wanted to buy before the line was rolled out.

I also wonder if JC's rollout schedule is a little "off" from other retailers. It seems to me like most other stores that I get emails for rolled out their main fall stuff a week or so ago... and we have another week to wait for their new arrivals. I don't know, it seems like it's been that way for most of this year (although it may be all in my mind!).

    6. I noticed that time lag, too, silverlining, and I attributed it to cash flow problems re: suppliers. Perhaps JC has been downgraded from 60 days to 30 days. Or something like that.

    7. RE: fringe sweater. Item b2431?

i have the sweater in navy. Tag says 100% merino wool. Dry clean only.

For me it's more of a bracelet sleeve... and i am a little worried about how the fringe will hold up over time. But i do like it.

    8. It's interesting to hear how other stores operate. My store pushes the new catalog on it's customers as soon as it comes out. We're real rebels here in the Pacific NW. They are also very accommodating and kinda lax about the whole returning thing. They always tell me not to worry, just bring things back to the store for price adjustments, etc. even when I've ordered it online.

  6. There are a few things I've been liking but I'm still resistant to buying them, even with the 30% off:

Georgie Suede Tassel Loafers (E0397) - These are SO comfortable!!! I tried on the gray ("Kraft Brown") and loved how clear the wingtip detailing and tassels were. Runs true to your J. Crew size and is a little narrow in the front.

Sloan D'Orsay Flats - Very flattering cut; they looked good on me and every other woman trying them in the store. For me, they weren't comfortable enough to justify a purchase at this price point, but I really liked the Gold and the Studded ones. Runs TTS.

Silk Drapey V-Neck Blouse (E2750) - I bought this for $118 but now I'm seeing it on the website for $98! How funny. Too bad it's not eligible for the 30% off promo (I'm not sure if it is in-store?). The brunswick blue color is gorgeous and there is good drape. Runs large so you have to order a full size down.
