Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Hi JCAs. Review here of the foil leaf print dress & notes about other foil leaf things I tried the other day.

  2. Ladies, help me out. I've been looking online and can't find the gray linen tee with the little gold diamonds on it. I think it has a white neck band, not sure. Does anyone know what tee I'm talking about? Item #? TIA!

    1. I know which tee youre talking about( i think).
Since i am at the store tomorrow,do you want me to check for the number?

    2. Yes, please -- thank you, Ina! The tee came in white (with navy) and gray (with gold). The store I visited on Wednesday didn't have my size. I was going to order it and now I cannot find it on the website.

  3. No visits for me but I just wanted to brag about my score from yesterday morning - the mixed media merino sweater (the one with the Dutch floral print) - popped back ONLY in my size for $99.99 meaning I got it for $70 which is exactly half of the original price. I'd wanted it since it came out but it sold out in my size so quickly and was never able to catch it! This sweater, as I tried to explain to my husband, "brings me joy" just like Marie Kondo says it should. Even though I probably won't be able to wear it until next fall, it shall bring me joy from its place folded up with the rest of the J Crew crew.

    3. Greetings Taylor - I have faith that if it brings you joy, it will come! . . . BTW, I would love to survey men on Marie Kondo's book (which I have but haven't read yet). I wonder how completely befuddled they are by phrases such as "Tidying is a special event" or "Every piece of clothing has its own 'sweet spot' where it feels just right." I chuckle about how my dad, who was a pretty practical and organized man, would have had some sort of "Are you kidding me?" expression on his face if I suggested a parting ceremony to launch discarded items on a "new journey" . . . deep thoughts for a Friday :-) Cheers-Jennifer

    4. Jennifer, thank you for saying this. I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't get the whole Kondo thing. Though my face is more like "WTF" than the prim and proper thoughts your dad would have had. I hope I'm not excomunicated from JCA but that book feels like just another blogger fad. More SEO power to ya, bloggers! 😜

    7. I admittedly just read the book for the advice about clothing. That's my problem - the rest of my house is fine, I am a purger! But I LOVE multiples. Do I need 34 Tippi sweaters? 20 Jackies? 20 pairs of Minnies? No, no I absolutely do not. I have a problem and this book has actually started to change my mindset!

    8. Greetings Anthro Blogger and Taylor - Yea for the sweater! Actually, my dad probably would have said "WTF", I was just trying to keep it clean for the blog! I'm kind of with MK. I despise clutter, and piles of paper and other stuff stress me out, so I clean out my closet, my office, and the rest of my place regularly. I've moved a lot and have always had limited storage space. I don't store my t-shirts upright, but I was using a clipboard to achieve maximum symmetry in folding way before the Gap. I obtained a feeling of calm this week by reorganizing my jewelry storage. But my "send off" for old items is more about gleeful anticipation of receiving a check from the consignment store, although I consign some good stuff so I hope the buyer gets some joy out of the items herself. Ah, to each her own . . . Cheers, Jennifer

    9. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely ocd! But I moved so much that I am not that attached to things and I am a minimalist. But I agree, to each their own, if Kondo helps declutter more power to you! I love decluttering! And yay for the joy sweater!!!!! Enjoy it!

    10. And yes Taylor, you need 20 Jackies, they are the perfect cardigan :)

    11. If you love a style and it fits well, why not buy more than one color? I find that very few clothes give me that happy tingle so when they do I stock up for a rainy day.

      Delete
    12. I too am a purchaser of multiples. My husband swears that my closet consists of about 20 items that I've bought in multiple Saddly the same can be said for my shoes and accessories. Oh well. I'm trying to get into the more minimalist mind set but it's difficult, I think I'll purchase Kondo maybe it will spark some inspiration in me.

      Delete
    13. I'm not a minimalist and will never be. However, I'm taking the philosophy of "does it bring joy" to heart. Some things I buy and wear for work and it's not necessarily my personal style. But the things I wear for myself, I definitely want to feel very happy in. I liked the last print at J Crew with the nutmeg (?) color, but didn't buy because I knew I'd just be collecting it for the print. I didn't like any of the cuts or fabrics.

    15. Hee, hee, wellfedfred . . . Sadly, I may never have those surprise finds since I started inventorying my wardrobe (I wanted to keep track of the spending, although I try not to look at that number too much, I guess I just like Excel spreadsheets . . . ). But I copied your postcard to my Pinterest - it goes so well with my Oscar Wilde quotes! Cheers - Jennifer

  4. Stopped by today and couldn't find anything I was crazy about. It was all ok. I do like some things I saw online that aren't in store, but most are excluded from the promo.

    I love both of them.

  6. I went today and ended up getting the Linen Crossover Shorts in Olive, though I'm not entirely sure if I'll keep them -- I like them a lot, but the 00 was surprisingly big and gapped weirdly even if I pulled it down to my hips as it's apparently supposed to be, and the colour I actually want is the Dark Harbour one, which doesn't seem to be carried in-store. Sadly, it looks like it's been sold out online in the smaller sizes for awhile now, and I have a feeling it's not being re-stocked, nevermind the shipping fee and Canadian exchange rate. I also picked up the Twin Hexagon Bracelet, which was now unceremoniously at the bottom of a bin in the sale section.

I also ordered the Turtleneck Tissue Tee in Black (last one in any size, apparently?) and the Foundry Shorts in Pesto (they were only $13.99 US and I need new olive shorts, so why not) from Final Sale when there was free shipping. I'm worried about sizes, since I find the tissue tees can fit small, and the reviews for the shorts are split between too big and too small, but we'll see.

    1. And you should be worried J Crew would not let me return $50 pair of jeans. I tried (way too many times) I think they leave notes on your file and I am now banished from being able to return final sale items due to mis sizing issues.
I am on a self imposed ban from shopping J Crew....but still love this blog...go figure.

    2. I hope they do fit....sorry as you can tell I am still ticked off.

  7. Happy that I won't be going to the store to make a return. Received the Japanese poplin swing jacket in the mail today and like it a lot. Ordered my usual size petite 8 and fits well, I did not size down. Not too swingy (as Gigi assured it was not in her review). The green color is beautiful and will be good for Fall too.

    1. SE Mom - Thx for the mention :) Glad to hear it worked out. Someone asked a question about the lining and sleeves.

I'm not sure I answered it, but I didn't examine the jacket too closely because I didn't try it on in a fitting room where there's privacy to analyze and whisper to myself. lol

      Delete
    2. I did read online about the sleeve lining sticking out, so I checked mine out at home and it is fine. Guess it's a quality control issue - hit or miss. Lol, guess I should pay more attention to women whispering to themselves in dressing rooms, might be useful.

  9. I just learned that one of my J Crew stores is closing on Sunday! It is in San Francisco at Stonestown. No real notice to employees and no signs up or anything! Now SF will just have one store (at Westfield on Market Street) and then way yonder in Marin and in Emeryville. The Stonestown store was not as well stocked as larger stores but hard to believe it wasn't profitable...... Must admit it will make my trips to grocery store cheaper as I won't have that temptation to check out JCrew....

    1. I think this is sad....but I bet we will see more closures over the next 6mos.

    2. Hi Margaret - NO WAY! I live in the Richmond Dist. and I go there sometimes to make returns...I am not surprised at all. I did wonder a few days ago how long that store was going to last.

What will they do with the merchandise? Transfer it back to warehouse in the East Coast?

      Delete
    3. I'm really really sad to hear this. The Stonestown B&M is small but I loved going there over Westfield because of the free parking. The SAs there are also amazing. Really sad news :(

  10. Checked out the new prints today. Really wanted to love something but I'm over the neon zippers. I get that the pop of color adds a bit of visual interest but IMO it cheapens the look and makes a garment less versatile.

I didn't buy anything on this trip but I did like a few things. My store was 30% off everything and 40% off sale.

  11. couldn't wait to share this....Canadian JCA's check out Leah Mcleans article in the globe and mail about COS . It is the sister store of H&M. Toronto and Montreal are getting the first stores in Canada. Wedsite looks interesting....kind of like Zara. But I am very interested in seeing more from them......Does the US have these store yet?
This could be my new alternative to J Crew....

    1. I love cos and have placed a few orders (no store in Chicago yet). I love the minimalist look and have found the quality good. I wouldn't consider it a jcrew replacement though unless your aesthetic is changing.

    2. ITA with rcb.shops. Living in Europe I have access to both Cos b&m's and the webshop. I must confess that occasionally I find the minimalist vibe somewhat boring. Quality varies, better than Zara, but not up to JC standards. I still remember the silk cami that itched:-((

    3. I ordered recently a dress and two sweaters from the COS online store. Their minimalist and modern clothes can look extremely flattering on. The color palette favors neutral and subtle tones. I'm quite impressed with the quality too. The peachy merino cardigan I got is soft, smooth, and simply lovely. There's a whole lot of dropped shoulders and slightly wider cuts, so you have to be into that kind of look.

    4. Thank you for the replies.....I agree it is a minimalist yet modern look. It would be a switch from J Crew.
I popped into the Crew today as I was walking by...just browse the new stuff quickly . I dislike the fabric on the gold foil skirt and top and the scarf was dull not very vibrant . Every thing else blended in as the same stuff nothing standing out...no great bags ...no fab jewellery..no great shoes.....

  13. Free shipping today at retail and factory. I picked up the metallic suede Hayes sandals. Does anyone have these? What do you think about fit and quality?

  14. Free shipping caught my eye. Roller belt #30871 for $11, down from $53 and a rugged cotton sweater in a great looking waterfall blue #57861 for $40 down from $75. The real bonus was no shipping. Do many of you find that free shipping entices your wallet to open up?

    2. Thanks. J Crew Guy, did not see the email on this. Purchased from the new arrivals, the PALM TREE DROP-WAIST DRESS, in petite and regular. On sale already for $128, with ONMYCARD promo, it was $76. I have not tried on but really liked it and it got good reviews.

    3. Another steal right now at J Crew Factory are the Factory crystal hoop earrings (item 06269). They are only $3.89 right now with free shipping! The picture online is terrible and that's why they are not selling, but they are diamond hoop earrings and the perfect size, not too big and not too small!

Thought I'd give you guys a heads up!

    4. One last suggestion is the J Crew Factory striped tee (item B4329). It's only $6.49 with free shipping. It's 100% cotton and cute IRL (in real life). I thought it fit true to size.

    5. Thought I would second what Kim said above, the stripe tee from Factory is fun and easy IRL. I bought both colors, and you can't beat the price. :) I may try those hoop earring with the free shipping. & The free shipping does entice me to shop more.

  15. Anyone have or tried on the Striped Side-Zip Tee Dress? It's pretty cheap and looks cute, but the reviews sound like the sizing is tricky and it's final sale. I'm curvier on the bottom, so I'm leery about it being too tight.

    1. I have that dress and it's cute! I had to size up, although I don't like things tight at all. I love when J Crew offers free shipping!

    2. Thanks! I ended up buying and sizing up as well. If it's too big, I'm willing to pay for some alterations given how low the price was.

  16. In my mall, they have a separate men's and women's Jcrew, and I went to both. Did not buy anything in the women's store, but loved a lot of things in the men's. I'm too small to fit in the men's XS though. The fern print for men is lovely. So is the baja shirt, why couldn't they make a version for women? I would happily buy one. I ended up buying the bucket hat (men's), and nothing else. My husband ended up with $600+ worth of merchandise. Get back into the game, Jcrew women's!

  17. Stopped by the Skokie store today and was shocked at how little I was interested in even trying on. As mentioned above, shoes and bags were a let-down. Very disappointing! Was hoping something would strike me differently in store than on-line but nope. Was specifically looking for the Slim Utility Pants, item c4181, but they did not have them in store. Has anyone seen or tried them? Any thoughts on fit or style? I am tempted to order them to try (free shipping, yay!), but am hesitant with no reviews that I could find anywhere on-line. All of the interesting fits, styles and patterns that I used to drool over are completely missing now. Baggy, ill-fitting, overpriced tees, polyester pants with elastic waistbands (reminds me of my grandmother's clique in the 80's), oversized, see-through sweaters. What gives? Seriously! I keep trying, I am actively looking for something that will catch that spark, that flame that used to keep me up at night : ) Just can't seem to care that much anymore really- just enough to keep trying to find the gems in each rollout. Sorry this turned out to be more of a rant than I intended! I really do hope someone has some thoughts on the Utility Pants (full inseam!). : )
