Wordless Post: J.Crew Fall/Winter 2015 collection

44 comments:

  1. Being a woman of words (too many?), I have to respond. We can debate any of these looks, but I have one comment and one question.

Comment: it seems like the next big feature of J Crew is going to be fur/fringe.

Question: the bow skirt is pretty, but won't it be a tad revealing when the wearer sits down? Ditto for the fringe skirt worn with the orange stripe sweater.

    1. Yeah, I was thinking how much better the bow skirt woulda been without the slit

    2. They haven't learned from the slits on other recent skirts. When I returned the, the SA immediately commented on how high it was. Without having seen it on me or anyone else.

  2. I do not like the yellow/blush color combination -- at all. I love both colors -- and I am lucky enough to be able to wear yellow -- but I am not drinking the crewlade on this one. Do love a lot of the other looks though. Will be interesting to see what makes it into production.

  3. The sequin stuff - I love, love, love it. However, sequins don't fit into my lifestyle. So pretty to look at, though. I'm not loving the yellow and blush combo, either. That yellow furry lined coat makes me think of a reverse Big Bird.

    1. Yes! All I think is Big Bird! Btw, made it to Michigan Ave yesterday and was so underwhelmed!! (And forgot to get a catalog. So annoyed on your behalf.)

    2. rcb.shops - Were you there for the preview last night? I went to a preview in the summer and it was crappy tiny cupcakes from Jewel and sparkling water. I noticed this time the invite mentioned they'd be serving Sprinkles cupcakes! Still no catalog in my mailbox and too cold to make the trip today. Sad trombone.

    3. @shopalot - nope. I was invited to the old orchard one, but didn't go. I like to shop anonymously, so those events never appeal to me. Took me awhile to find a VPS that lets me be...

    4. Shopalot, I think you just hit the nail on the head for me - lifestyle. I scroll through these photos and honestly love so many of the looks, but they don't fit into my life. At all. I want to be that girl but I'm not!

    5. Real life vs. fantasy life clothes ... I fight this battle with myself all the time.

  4. I don't care much for yellow, but it is pretty to look at. There is a lot of pieces I like to own. Hopefully some of it is affordable...

  5. There is so much pretty there, the saturated hues paired with pastels/dusty shades especially make me smile. The sequins are amazing, the smaller and larger sizes work beautifully together and I am tickled they are multi-colored, they look a bit like a coral reef shimmering underwater. Now I am sure most of it is out of my price range (except on sale!), so I will just enjoy from afar.

But those wide-legged, floor length, slightly wrinkled wool grey pants? Yeah. No. Yikes.

  6. I adore the yellow & blush combos. Almost everything I've been buying lately for Spring has also been yellow and I think it's a great Fall color too, especially when paired with camel. That deep royal purple is also gorgeous and I love it on that double-breasted blazer.

I can't wait to try on that bow skirt and even though I don't see it here, I really loved the yellow & metallic chevron striped version of it.

I'm going to have to pass on the sequins and the big bird looks, but I love most of the scarves (that navy & gold one makes me swoon) and that chunky cardigan. I'd be willing to give those cropped khakis a try too.

  7. WHY is everything so darn OVERSIZED? I love the azure pencil skirt and some of the shoes, but I didn't just lose 50 pounds to then start wearing completely oversized, baggy clothing. Why, J.Crew, why?

    1. Good for you! I say focus on tailored clothes (but than again I think that's true for everyone...)!

  8. I was pleased to see these pieces. Just hope not all of it is collection ($$$$) and hoping they come out with some beautiful coats next fall.

  9. I love the yellow, and love that furry jacket (though I would be big bird's doppelgänger in it, I'm afraid). The proportions on those wide legged pants are insane, IMO. I haven't really paid attention regarding if j crew tones down any of its FW designs for production, like most designers? Call me captain obvious, but I still can't get over how much the models are styled to look like Jenna. Sadly, in not a fan of most of the shoes. But it's always fun to look :)

  10. Here is a Refinery 29 article, "30 Little Style Lessons to Learn from J. Crew." I don't think there are 30 lessons here but its all the new fall stuff so interesting.

  11. Mens' side is solid and well put together. More of an evolution than a revolution which suits me just fine. Nice work Frank.

  12. For me JC is back, just hoping what I like is not $$$.

  13. I'm going to have to stop shopping now to afford that sequin dress or blazer by fall/winter....

  14. I love pretty much all of the coats/jackets and I adore that outfit with the blue jacket and the green pants. Would buy a lot if this stuff was in stores right now (and I am a summer clothes person)...

    1. I like that outfit, too. I don't really care for much else as I do not do brown neutrals.

  15. I just love seeing some new looks and like the variety of colors. I'm drawn to the navy embroidered coat and the fluffy rust one but who knows what I will buy in the fall

  16. I WILL have that sequin jacket. First time in a long time that I've been struck by JC lightening. Go figure.

    1. I need it too. To keep my Jardin jacket company in the darkest side of my closet...

    2. The sequin jacket is absolutely stunning. Sequins just make me happy! I can totally see myself wearing that in my fantasy life as a rock star's wife - ha! Anyone want to take a guess as to what it is going to cost?

    3. Not far from 1k, IMO (and excluded from all promo, lol). Maybe if I start now I can sew all those sequins on a jacket that I have and don't wear a lot and have it ready by Fall ;-)

    4. My Jardin Jacket has been hiding, too, Ema. Would it be a good idea to unwrap it and try it on?

    5. Yes, maybe it is going to steer us away from the sequined blazer... Like, learn from your mistakes!

  17. Keep in mind this is for Fashion Week and the runway. Most of it won't even be seen later. It's all about the mood and feeling for the season. Taken in context of all the other shows it fits right in. Texture and embellishment are everywhere. Has anyone seen the Tory Burch purses? According to Vogue, however, the crazy wide pants ( I love them but would never really wear them) are going to the silhouette of the Fall/Winter season.

    1. Those wide cashmere pants are atrocious, even on the model, IMO. LOL...........

  18. Alexandra Jacobs (NYT) :J.CREW, is now thouroughly bored by the preppy look that used to be its bread and butter.
This is your biggest problem ( sales) J.CREW.

    2. Good thing they didn't make that one for men, too… they'd be laughed out of the men's room !!

  20. I LOVE the multi color sequins, but neither the skirt or jacket really fit into my lifestyle. Hopefully there will be something with them that I can make fit that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

  21. I like some of the pieces, but my guess is they will be ridiculously expensive. (the leather jacket and chevron bow skirt (neither pictured above), the sequin jacket (love!), the gold and the pink suede fringed skirt (love!), pink turtleneck sweater, pants that have a higher rise (thank god!), and some of the shoes. It does seem as if fringe and fur are a thing for next winter, have seen that combo on several of the fashion week shows.

  22. Loved the pink/ yellow combos so much I dug out a JC linen sweater from 2012 with bright yellow stripes and paired it with a blush-pink blouse and necklace today. Really looked fresh imo, and I hope no one thought I got dressed in the dark...

  23. Love the entire 1st look but maybe with a closer fitting sweater (female curves should never be downplayed with oversized clothing ;)...Love the sequin skirt and dress(?) but I'm sure they will be collection pieces I'll end up having to stalk a sample sale for.
